《Melody of Time -Naruto-》Chapter 10 - Doing the bell test again

I felt like all the air in my lungs was knocked out. I staggered to get up off the ground. I couldn't believe it. Here was Kakashi, my old best friend holding my Emerald Music, the same flute that I had lost on that one mission 13 years ago.
"I had a feeling that you wouldn't be able to fight to your full potential without this." Kakashi said, extended his hand my flute in it. I couldn't help it, tears stared to slowly flow down my face. I thought I had lost it forever. I was so grateful to Kakashi right now. I slowly griped my flute, sighing as I felt the familiar weight.
"Thank you so much Kakashi." I whispered loud enough for him to hear.
"You're welcome, now enough with the tears; you don't want people to think you are weak now?" Kakashi said in a teasing tone. I lifted my hand to erase the tears on my face and replace them with a devilish smirk.
"No I wouldn't." That was all I said before I charged at him, with my flute in its kunai form. I could feel a renewed joy inside of me as a fought Kakashi. It was just like when we were kids. I was all ways trying to show him how much stronger I was and how much I had improved, and this time as no different. Well maybe a little bit different, this time Kakashi isn't a chunin but a jounin, so he was bound to be much stronger. That was his advantage, but he had one disadvantage, he had one of his eyes covered and I still had no idea why. I had noticed it the first time I saw him, but I never really got to ask, and I felt like I would be prying, so I decided to not vice my curiosity. So Kakashi had a, advantage and a maybe disadvantage. I on the other hand had only disadvantages. He knew my attack style like the back of his hand, so no matter how many punches and kicks I threw at him with blinding speed, he dodged all of them. I knew he was holding back, so I decided to kick it up a notch. I quickly placed my kunai flute back together and placed it at my lips. I saw Kakashi's eye widen a bit. He may know my style well, but he all ways had problem when it came to my flute. My fingers moved across my flute, making a faint tune exit it. The wind automatically responded. The wind stated to pick up around my, making a sphere.
I lifted my lips from my flute to say the necessary words "Razor Wind." I was right now about 10 feet in the air, surrounded by a swirling wind sphere. You could hear the faint hum in the air; it was from how fast the wind has moving. I crossed my arms in front of my chest to form an X, and then moved them out quickly. When I moved my arms, two powerful crescent shaped wind currents flew toward Kakashi. Kakashi knew what I was going to do and he quickly dodged my attack.
I knew that this stage of this jutsu was too weak to head-on-head with Kakashi, so I willed my Razor Wind to go into its second stage. The notes to pull of the second stage are more difficult than the notes for the first stage, but I knew them so well I could do them in my non-existing sleep. As I played my flute the wind around me started to change. Water appeared with the wind, swirly itself around the sphere of wind.

"Razor Water! I hope you are ready for this Kakashi 'sensei'!" I shouted at the man below. I once again crossed my arm and released the crescent wind at Kakashi, but this time, it was much more powerful and much, much faster than before and both of the crescents of wind were covered in slick water. I knew that Kakashi would give no way on dodging this. I gave a small laugh.
"Bet you wished that you never gave me back my flute now?" I said into the wind.
"No, not really. I mean I wouldn't be able to spare with you just like we did before." My eyes widen. 'How could he have dodged that?! I aimed it right at him at point-blank distance! I bet he used a showdown clone.' I quickly spun around, trying to find where he was hiding. 'Where is that little dog?' I wondered. I slowed down my wind and lowered myself to the ground. The moment my feet touched the ground I split my flute in two, turning it back into its kunai form, and cancelling my Razor wind jutsu.
"It brings back good memories, doesn't Harmony?" The allusive Kakashi said again.
"Yes it does. It also reminds me that you loved you showdown clones and substitutions jutsus." I felt something grip my foot. I looked down to see a hand was on my ankle. I yelled put in surprise as I got yanked down into the ground.
"Earth Style: Head hunter jutsu!" Kakashi sprung out of the ground and looked down at me, well looked down at my head, because the rest of my body was underground.
"New jutsu, huh? I don't remember you being an earth style user." I said looking up at him.
"Yeah I have a lot more. Well I should most likely go Naruto should be trying to have a lunch right around now." It was just my luck that I blinked after he said that, because after, he was gone! It took me a minute to figure it out. Kakashi is gone, and I am stuck in the ground...
"KAKASHI! YOU DOG! GET ME OUT OF HERE!!!"
--------FF---------------
RUMBLE!
"Oh, do I hear stomachs rumbling?" Kakashi asked the four of us cheekily. Yeah, all four of us failed to get a single bell, but only Naruto was tied to the post because he tried to have lunch without us. I was glaring at Kakashi the whole time. He didn't come back to get me out of the ground, so I had to yell for help until Sakura and Sasuke found me.
"I have made up my mind; I am not going to send any of you back to the academy." Kakashi continued.
"But sensei, all I did was faint." Sakura pointed out, looking worried, but then started to jump up and down, laughing. Naruto was cheering, Sasuke just smirked at that, and I just continued glaring. 'What is it that you had planned?'
"So that means all four..." Naruto started to say.
"Yes, I decided to drop all four of you from the program completely, none of you are worth to be a shinobi! Do you all think being a ninja is easy? All of you are just kids; none of you are ready to be ninjas!" Kakashi finished. After he said that, Naruto and Sakura stopped cheering, and Sasuke charged at Kakashi. I don't know how but Sasuke ended up under Kakashi's foot.
"See? You are all just kids." Kakashi said to Sasuke

"Sensei!" You can't just step on Sasuke's face!" Sakura yelled, but Kakashi ignored her.
"Like I asked before. Do you four think being a ninja is easy? Why do you think that you were placed in a squad of four?" He continued.
"What do you mean sensei?" Sakura asked. 'God are they all this dense?!' I asked in my mind, but decided to stay quite.
"In other words, you four don't understand the answer to the test. Well I should say three of you didn't. Harmony kind of got it."
"The answer?" Naruto said, repeating Kakashi.
"Yes the answer, the thing that determines if you pass or fail the test." Kakashi replied.
"We've been asking what that is..." Sakura stated quietly.
"Geez! Do all of you not have brains? Why do you think that you were placed into a three man squad?" Kakashi said.
"So what if there's three people in a squad!" Naruto said, finally losing his cool. 'This is too much!' I yelled in my mind.
"It's about teamwork you blockheads!" I yelled, no longer able to stand this torture.
"You mean to work with the others?" Sakura said, and might I add, quit stupidly.
"Yes that's exactly what I mean Sakura! God, for being the smartest person, you don't really us you head a lot." I told her.
"W-What! How dare-" Sakura started.
"Yes Harmony is exactly right. If all four of you had come at me all at once, you may have been able to get a bell. Oh well." Kakashi cut her off, and I could tell that Sakura didn't really like it, but she got over it as she was thinking.
"Why do we need teamwork if there are only two bells? If four people try and get the bells, two people would have failed. Fighting within the team would have happened." She realised
"Of course. This test tries to put the four of you against each other. People who but the team first and use teamwork over themselves are the ones worth to be picked. You were all tried, and all of you showed that you were pathetic. Sakura! You cared more about Sasuke than Naruto, even though he was right in front of you, and you didn't know where Sasuke was." Sakura looked down at the ground ashamed.
"Naruto! All you did was work on your own." Naruto looked surprised that Kakashi noticed that, and looked down at the ground also.
" Sasuke! You assumed that everyone would be a burden, so you did everything yourself." Sasuke just growled from underneath Kakashi's foot, but he too looked down at the ground. I knew that it was my turn next, and that Kakashi wasn't going to go easy on me.
"Harmony! You may have tried to get everyone to work together, but you gave up easily. And when everyone left you, you tried to battle me on your own without trying to find the others with Sakura!" I flinched a little at what he said, but it was all true. I was no different form before, and I haven't become any stronger either.
"Missions are done in groups. It is true that ninjas are good in many different ways, but teamwork is much more important. If someone goes against it, conflict arrives within the team, and missions can be harder to pass, it may even cost someone's life." Kakashi continued to say, and then he pulled out a kunai and placed it at Sasuke's neck.
"For example: Sakura! Kill Naruto or else Sasuke Dies! Harmony, Kill Sakura if she doesn't kill Naruto!" He let all of us panic for a second before he put his kunai away.
"That's what can happen. After getting someone hostage, you will be placed in a difficult decision, and someone will die." Kakashi then got off of Sasuke and started to walk towards the K.I.A. stone.
'Rin, Obito, Minato-sensei, Kushina, Mother, Father, big brother, grandpa.' I thought of all the people who were close to me that died. I stood up and walked towards the K.I.A. stone also. When I got up to the stone I keeled in front of the stone, saying a silent pray to all of them.
"In every mission you lay your life on the line." Kakashi said
"Look at this... Many people had their names engraved into this stone. All these names are praised as heroes in the village."
"Kakashi-sensei I have made up my mind! One day I want my name on that stone and be regarded as a hero!" Naruto yelled. I couldn't help but sigh.
"I don't think you would want that. All these shinobi are a special type of heroes, Naruto." I said with my eyes still closed.
"What kind of heroes are they?" He asked happily.
"This is the K.I.A. stone." I replied getting up slightly, and layed a hand on it.
"K.I.A. stone?"
"It means killed in Action Naruto." I stood up fully and removed my hand from the stone. I then turned around and sat back down beside Sakura and Sasuke.
"Many of my friends' names are on this stone" Kakashi said looking down at the stone. I knew the names he was looking at, it was the same names I was praying to.
"You guys can have one more try to get the bells after lunch, but it will be much harder. Eat only if you are up to the challenge. But with one exception. No one is allowed to feed Naruto. This is a punishment for breaking the rules and trying to eat lunch before everyone else. If anyone feeds him, they will fail immediately." Kakashi said with a dark look on his face. Truth be told, it scared me a bit too!
"I make up the rules got it?" With that, Kakashi disappeared, but I knew he wouldn't leave, no, his just hiding. Both Sakura and Sasuke started to eat, and Naruto's stomach started acting up, but he tried to say that he wasn't hungry even though I could tell he was starving, and if this required teamwork, all of us, including Naruto needed to eat to keep up our strength.
'I know I have already been through this training, but I can't let Naruto starve!' I opened my lunch box and got some rice on my chopsticks, but instead of putting it in my mouth; I turned around and gave it to Naruto.
"Here you go Naruto." I said with a smile.
"H-Harmony, what are you doing?! Kakashi-sensei told us not to feed Naruto!" Sakura whispered-yelled at me.
"I know Sakura, but Naruto needs his strength just as much as we do, and I don't mind if I go back to the academy, I was only there for a week." I managed to smile at the end. I knew it would be torture to go back, but I was willing to sacrifice that for Minato-sensei's and Kushina's son.
"Harmony is right. Besides, I don't sense his chakra anywhere, so he won't know. All four of us need to work together to get the bells, it only going to be trouble if he's hungry." Sasuke said, lifting up some of his rice to feed Naruto.
"Y-Yeah, what was I thinking. I am on a diet anyway, so I don't need to eat as much as you guys do." Sakura said, trying to fix her outburst. She too gave Naruto some food. It moved Naruto so much he ended up crying. Not like 'oh no! My dog just died' crying, it was more like 'I want to cry, but I want it to look funny too!'
All of us were giving Naruto some rice; well really, Sakura and I were feeding him ourselves when all of a sudden the clods in the sky got really dark and the wind started to pick up. All four of us started to freak out a little, and then we all started to freak out more when Kakashi 'sensei' came out of nowhere and pointed a finger at the four of us.
"YOU FOUR!" Kakashi yelled "I told you four not to feed Naruto, now are you ready for your punishment?" Kakashi started to make some hand signs, and the clouds above got even darker, and lighting came out.
"Any last words?" Kakashi said.
"But..." Naruto started to say. "You said... That's why these three..." Naruto looked down at Sasuke.
"We are a four man squad, right?" He said.
"That's right! The four of us are one!" Sakura said. I didn't say anything. I just face palmed myself because of what Sakura had said. 'The four of us are one?! Not even Obito would say that and that's saying a lot!'
"Yeah! That's right!' Naruto yelled. Kakashi slowly walked up to us.
"The four of you are one?" He leaned in front of our faces.
"You pass." He said cheerfully. I feel. 'I can't believe I feel for that! He's acting like Obito would!'
"What?" Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke all said at the same time.
"Yo pass." Kakashi said again.
"Pass. Why?" Sakura asked. The clouds in the sky were clearing up now.
"You four are the first team I passed. All the other teams I had were idiots, and did exactly what I said. In the ninja world, those who break the rules are called scum. But those who don't care about their friends are worse than scum." I was surprised by what Kakashi added on to that sentence. He had all ways said that rules are meant to be followed after his father's death.
'I wonder how much the boy I knew has changed.' I thought, looking up at Kakashi.
"The training ends here, today you are all official members of squad 7." Everyone started to celebrating, kinda. Sakura was jumping up and down. Naruto was semi-crying and say 'I'm a ninja!' over and over again. Sasuke smirk of course. I was laughing, not because I passed again, but because I was thinking about what would happen on simple missions with these three, and Kakashi was just smiling at us.
"Let's go home." Kakashi said. Sasuke, Sakura, and Kakashi went to walk into the sunset, literally, but I stayed behind to untie Naruto.
(Later that day.)
I would say it is around 8 p.m. right now. The rest of the team had gone home about three and a half hours ago, but I stayed behind for some more training. I mean, I finally got my flute back! I didn't want to be rusty, so I spend my whole training with my flute. I was about to do Razor Wind when I sensed Kakashi's chakra.
"You know, this is kind of getting repetitive. Me having to tell people to stop hiding during my training, it's annoying too, but you of all people would know that, right Fang?" I called out to Kakashi.
"You know it's been thirteen years since anyone called me little fang, and it's still annoying." He said as he jumped out of a tree and walked towards me. I waited until he was close before I ran and hugged him.
"W-What?" Was all that came out of Kakashi's mouth.
"I am so sorry, Kakashi. I am just so sorry. First I disappeared, and the Obito was killed on the same day. Rin and Minato-sensei dyeing only a year later. It must have been so hard on you." I said with my face in his chest. 'His finely tuned chest.'
"It's all right-" I cut him off.
"No it's not all right. I mean, here I am, 13 yes after I disappeared, looking the same way I did before, and everyone thought I was dead, and you even held onto to my Emerald Music. I had hadn't ran way that day. If I had stayed, then maybe Obito wouldn't have..." That was all I could say until I broke down and fell to the floor crying. I felt an arm wrap around me.
"So it's just like your family. You can't talk about them, or really think about them without your emotions going hay-wire, huh?" He asked. I nodded my head. Ever since I was five, whenever I even though about my family, or the men in black cloaks with red clouds on them, I start to cry.
"So many things have changed, I feel like I don't even belong here anymore, I mean, I should be the same age as you! How come I am still 13?!" I said, still crying.
"You know you will all ways belong in the hidden leaf village, no matter what. And not many things had changed, only little things." Kakashi tried to comfort me.
"Little thing?" I said in a whisper. "Little Things. So our sensei and Naruto's dad becoming the fourth Hokage and ten dying trying to save the village from the nine-tails that Kushina had is little?" I said with more volume till I was all most yelling. I had left Kakashi's arms so I was standing and looking down at him.
"Well that is kind of big, I guess." Kakashi said.
"Yeah it was big, big to me. Another big thing is you! I mean, you are 26 years old now! You are a jonin who use to be in the ANBU black ops, and this may seem small to most people, but were in the hell did you learn earth style jutsus?! Before I left you were strictly lighting style! And why do you cover your eye!?" I said, all most yelling at him.
"Well I guess those would be big for you. Yes I was in ANBU, and I am a jonin. I cover my eye, because it was a present from Obito, and I can use earth style, and other styles because of it." He said back, standing up, and towering over me. I thought of what he had just told me, and that it was a present from Obito, so it must be his eye, so that means...
"Y-You eye, it's the s-sharingan?" I asked.
"Yeah, before we came to rescue you and Rin, we were attacked and I lost my left eye, but his sharingan was awakened. So we wraped it up and went to get you two, only to see you vanish, and leave behind you flute. After we had got Rin, the cave collapsed and crushed Obito's right side. Before he died, he got Rin to implant he's left sharingan into my left eye. Because of him I am in the bingo book, and am called Kakashi of the sharingan, or the copycat ninja."
"Wow." I said. "Can I see it?"
Kakashi chucked at that.
