《We're Just Friends (Clexa AU)》Chapter Forty One

Lexa, Clarke, and Abby sat down to eat.
"So, I presume you two are dating." Clarke's mom said pointing to the two girls.
Both girls looked up from their food extremely fast.
"What?" Lexa said in shock.
"No, no we, we're not. We're just friends." Clarke said as she shook her head.
"Girls you don't need to lie, I'll support you both."
"No, no Mom. She, she doesn't like-"
"Yeah Mrs. Griffin, I- I don't like girls like that." Lexa said starting to talk over Clarke from nerves.
Clarke's mom looked shocked, "Oh really, I'm sorry, I just assumed."
"Wh- why would you think that?" Clarke asked.
"Well uhh that's actually what I wanted to talk to you about." Clarke's mom took a long pause, "Okay so I came home early at around 12:30 in the morning. And when I was driving up to the house I saw that your light was still on, so I decided to go up to let you know I was home."
Clarke figured she knew what her mom was going to say and looked over at Lexa nervously, who was staring at her food in shock.
"And uhh when I was walking upstairs I heard someone yell, or thought someone yelled. My parental instincts kicked in and without thinking I ran into your room to make sure you guys were okay. You guys kind of forgot to close that bathroom door, so when I went into your room I saw you," she pointed to Lexa, "sitting on the shower bench and ummm and you," she then pointed to Clarke, "well you were kneeling in front of her with your head between, actually you know what let's not get into details. Then I heard you guys again like a half-hour ago, so I decided to put some music on to kind of drowned out the sound. So I just assumed you guys were together because of that. But I guess it was just like a one time, or well two-time thing, anyway umm I just wanted to-"
"How bout you just stop talking, because that would be a great idea." Clarke said interrupting her mom.
"Honey, I'm saying this because I want to make sure you guys are being smart. You guys might not be able to get pregnant but there are still other things, you know like not pushing each other over their limit, communicating, and making sure the other is okay. And even if the other person says they want it, just be smart."

"Yes of course, now shut up please." Clarke said embarrassed.
Clarke looked over at Lexa who was still in complete shock more than embarrassment. She was frozen just staring at her plate with her mouth open a little in shock. After a few minutes of processing everything that just happened, she looked a Clarke. She gave her a look and somehow Clarke knew exactly what she was asking, so the blonde nodded her head.
"Well actually Mrs. Griffin," Lexa said as she kept staring at Clarke.
"Honey, it's Abby remember?"
Lexa looked over at her, "Oh yeah sorry. I actually would like to tell you something."
"Of course, you can tell me anything."
"Well umm your going to be the first to know this besides Clarke obviously." Lexa laughed nervously, "But ummm well you were actually right about us, a- about Clarke and I. She, she asked me to be her, her umm," Lexa paused for a moment, "her girlfriend right umm, right before, well umm, about a half hour ago."
"Oh really? Can I ask why you guys lied?"
"Well, I'm not out to anyone. I mean I don't even know what I am, I, I just know that I like Clarke. And if my parents found out, besides that fact that they already hate Clarke, they wou-"
"Do you mind if I stop you for a second?" Clarke's mom asked cutting Lexa off.
"No, no of course not." Lexa said.
"Honey, why do her parents hate you?"
"I may or may not have yelled at her mom and used some words I shouldn't have."
"Clarke, what did you do?"
"Do you remember that song I kissed a Girl by Katy Perry?" Clarke asked her mom.
"Of course you use to play it nonstop as a kid."
"Yeah well we were playing that song on just dance with Aden and his friend. And so Lexa's mom came home and well let's just say I may have called her a homophobic piece of shit."
"Clarke!" Her mother yelled.
"I mean it's true. She told me that girls kissing girls was wrong. I also told her that the happiest day of my life was when the dick died because I finally felt free to be myself, and basically that if she keeps trying to mold her kids into something their not then that's gonna be their happiest day too. And after everything, I told her, like about how I made myself think there was something wrong with me, what happened when I came out, and how the dick treated me, she didn't even have an ounce of empathy. So no offense Lexa, but her mom's a bitch."

"None taken." Lexa said making Clarke smile a little.
"Well I'm glad you stood up for yourself honey, but did you really need to call her that."
"I didn't, it was more of a context clues situation. Who knows maybe she never even realized." Clarke said shrugging her shoulders.
Lexa looked over a Clarke, "Oh she definitely realized."
Both girls looked at each other and let out a small laugh.
Clarke's mom sighed as she rolled her eyes at her daughter. "I'm sorry Lexa you can continue now."
"Oh yeah so umm beside that, my parents are extremely homophobic. So yeah they would probably kick me out or try killing us both."
"I doubt that honey, you're their only daughter. They should love you no matter what." Clarke's mom said to Lexa.
"That might be the case for most parents, but my parents well they aren't like that. Ummm when I was in 7th grade I actually liked this girl and when I told her," Lexa started to nervously play with her hands, "umm well this whole thing happened, but basically my parents found out. My mum was furious," Lexa's eyes started to water as Clarke grabbed the brunettes hand to make soothing circles on it, "she was screaming at me, told me how disgusting it was to think that way, that I would go to hell if I even thought like that again, and that it was just a phase."
Lexa started to bite the inside of her cheek to stop herself from letting any tears out.
"Come here honey." Clarke's mom said with her arms out, when she noticed that Lexa was doing that.
"No it's okay, I'm fine." Lexa said shaking her head.
Clarke's mom got up, "Lexa come here, I mean it."
Lexa got up, looking down at the ground as she walked over the her. Clarke's mom wrapped her arms around Lexa and hugged her tight.
"This house will always be open to you. If you ever need a place to stay, you can stay here for as long as you need. And if you ever need an authority figure to talk to, and can't talk to your parents, you can always come to me. Okay?"
Lexa nodded her head and whispered a shaky thank you.
After Clarkes mom comforted Lexa they all finished breakfast, while Lexa talked to Abby about everything, personal and not. After hours of talking, Abby went to work leaving the two girls alone. They were sitting on the couch watching tv wrapped up in the infamous blanket Lexa got the blonde. Clarke had her arms around Lexa's stomach with her head on Lexa's chest, while Lexa had her head resting on top of Clarke's as she twirled the ends of blonde locks.
"Lexa?"
"Hmm?" Lexa hummed not taking her eyes off the tv.
Clarke looked up at Lexa and nervously bit her lip, "Can I ask you something?"
"Of course, what's up?"
"Will you go on a date with me?"
"Oh," Lexa said kind of shocked, "like what do you mean?"
"Well I was thinking maybe we could go out for breakfast or maybe brunch. And it can be at a cafe in TonDC so no one we know will possibly be there. And we could go to the mall, maybe go to the arcade or something. Then come back here and just hang out."
"Brunch," Lexa said smiling at her girlfriend, "I don't wanna wake up early to get ready for breakfast."
"Is that a yes?"
"Of course silly." Lexa said then pulled Clarke in for a kiss.
"Yay." Clarke mumbled into the kiss.
"We should go get ready for the party." Lexa said as she pulled away.
Clarke moved so she was straddling Lexa's lap and so her lips were centimeters from the brunettes. "Five more minutes." Clarke whispered right before bringing Lexa in for another passionate kiss.
