《Maeve》ChapterEight: Stranger Danger

Maeve couldn't believe what is standing in front of her. This beast saved her life by killing the rogues. But on the other hand, this beast is the reason why she was chased by rogues. The great King Dominic Deàsun is standing few meters away from her. That wolf who killed the rogues who tried to kill her is standing right in front of her. Only now he isn't a wolf anymore. He is standing right in front of her in his birth suit.
Either one of them didn't do anything. They just stared at each other.
Maeve's eyes were full of tears and fear. Dominic's eyes, on the other hand, were filled with disgust and anger.
"W-why?" She asked quietly, but she knew that he could hear her. As a werewolf, he has a way better hearing ability than she has. Her Mother even said that she is sometimes deaf because she can't hear things right or at all. But she isn't deaf at least not yet.
"What do you mean human?"
"S-send me to d-death and s-save me when it w-was coming to m-me."
"You will die. Maybe not today but someday even more cruelly than you would have today." Dominic grabbed her small hand in his large one and started to drag her away from the forest. After a few minutes of walking or at Maeve's point of view dragging. She whispered words that made the King stop at his tracks.
"What did you say!"
"K-kill m-me." She mumbled. But the King never answered, he just kept walking and dragging her away. Why should Maeve accept the fact that she is going to die in his hands tomorrow or in the next month? If she dies now in his hands there will be no more wondering what will be her last day in that cell. Maeve dug her heels in the ground and refused to be dragged even a one-step anymore.
"Stop fighting!" Dominic roared with no doubt that the large audience on the other side of the woods didn't hear him.
She just shook her head, tore her hand of off his and started to run away from him as fast as her legs carried her.

Dominic was too fücking tired to chase after the human. First, his wolf had to piss him off by taking a full control of him because he didn't want to see their mate dying. And now that girl who was nothing more than a blood sack full of problems. If his wolf hadn't gone crazy she would be long gone and he would be out of problems.

He knew that if he would arrange another Chase his wolf would kill the rogues too if that meant that human is safe. His wolf was also too strong to be held down by silver chains. He has broken free out of those chains many times before and now the first time ever he had lost control to his wolf side.
After reaching the castle he ordered few guards to catch that running girl with strawberry blonde hair. Maybe if he is lucky she will die during that.
Humans don't deserve to live.
They're only a waste of air and food. Fortunately, there are no more than a few thousand humans left in the earth. Dominic and his Father have succeeded in killing most of them. But somehow a human girl called Maeve is like a cockroach.
"She is your mate."
"Don't put your nose in my businesses, Cato."
"You should be happy that you have found you mate. Even if she is a human."
"She is weak."
"I would do anything to find my mate." Cato has always dreamed of having a mate since he was small. His grandmother used to always tell stories about mates and how they always found each other. Even if they were both dead.
"No King should have a weakness because that is what makes them weak," Dominic says as he watched out of the window. His soldiers are patrolling the castle. Soon enough the few soldiers who he sent to chase her, should soon be back.
They stayed in pure silence for a few minutes before Beta Cato opened his mouth again. Unlike the other time this time he didn't say anything about mates. "Who is our new Gamma?"
"I have few candidates."
"You should decide soon because no kingdom has ever been out of gamma for long."
"You think that I don't know that."
"Of course, My King." The Beta said and bowed his head. He and the King have a long history and that is exactly the reason why he knows that you should never ever piss him off if you like to see another sunrise.
"Leave."
Cato didn't say anything. He just started to walk away. He didn't mind that he had to leave him, because he already had something in his mind he has to do. First, he only has to wait that those moron soldiers bring back the King's human mate.

"Who is in there?" Maeve asks. She has heard some noises close to her but never has she seen anything. Maybe the King send the rogues after her again. And this time there will be nobody to save her from them.
She remembers those few times her Mother told some stories about rogues; werewolves that have lost their humanity and turned into full wolves. They live like normal wolves and also act like them. Only that they are even bloodthirstier than normal wolves. Maeve also has heard some rumors that the King has a giant cage full of rogues. He uses them to rip his enemies to pieces.
She felt a shiver run down in her spine.
If he hadn't saved her she would be just like the rest of them; ripped in pieces in the ground full of blood.
"Girly! Where are you?!" A males voice yelled.
What is he thinking? That Maeve will scream 'In here!'. Because that is the complete opposite of what she is going to do.
Her leg is still hurting, but it didn't stop her from climbing in a huge tree. In that tree, they couldn't see her or find her. Maybe she could run away from here and start a new life somewhere far away from here.
Maeve could hear many different men trying to find her, by yelling 'Girly' or 'human'. But once in her life luck is on her side. The men yelled at her and tried to find her for an hour but then everything went quiet. 'They probably have left.' She thought and started to climb her way out of the tree.
When her feet touched the ground a rough pair of hands fled her over his shoulder. The impact was so hard that all air left Maeve's lungs.
"Found you girly."
It didn't take long before she was back in the rotten cell crying her eyes out. The food they brought her was now back to the molten bread and a glass of water. She has probably lost some weight while being in here. When her Mother was still alive they didn't have a feast every day but they had every day at least two meals that filled her stomach. Now the bread and water didn't fill a much, but it was enough to keep her alive. She promised herself that when she will be free she will prepare and eat a feast full of fruits and if she will have enough money she will buy meat too.
Soon after eating. Maeve closed her eyes and started to sleep.
"Open your eyes human." A husky male voice woke her up. Maeve guessed that she had been asleep for a few hours. She opened her eyes and stared at the large man in front of her cell.
"I'm a-awake."
"You think that I didn't notice that." Maeve didn't answer anything. This man has been only rude to her.
"I know what you are to him."
"T-to who?"
"Are you just acting stupid or are you one."
She didn't answer him. If he is only going to hurt her using words why should she speak back to him?
"ANSWER ME SKANK!"
"Stranger danger. My mother taught me to not to speak with strangers and y-you are a stranger."
"Your mother was smart. I'm Cato the Royal Beta."
"I'm Maeve."
"I know who and what you are human, especially to the King."
She didn't answer. Maeve is tired of people telling her what she is when she doesn't even know that herself.
"You are his mate."
"W-what is a m-mate." Many people have said the word 'mate', but she has no idea what that means.
"Listen to me carefully girly. You are going to die. He isn't going to stop before you are dead so enjoy your last days. You never know what day it will be." After saying that Cato walked away leaving Maeve in that cell tears flowing in her rosy cheeks.
