《Joker's Running Wild (Deltarune, Super Paper Mario, Kirby Super Star)》Chapter 14

Luigi and Dimentio went through the Dimensional door and snuck behind some pillars. "Quick. The elevator's this way," Luigi said. Dimentio sighed.
"I still don't see why you won't let me just teleport us there." "Because, that's lazy! We're only going to use your magic if we need it."
The two got into the elevator. It slowly started moving down.
Dimentio impatiently tapped his foot.
....
....
....
....
"Ugh! Does this stupid elevator go any faster??"
Luigi rolled his eyes. "Dimentio, it's been 20 seconds."
Dimentio crossed his arms and leaned against the elevator wall, when the door open. "Oh, thank GRAMBI! Could that elevator BE any slower??" Luigi giggled some more. "Since when were you so impatient?" "I don't know. Maybe it's the fact that I waited years for my plan for a perfect world to fall into place, only for it to be ruined by the pure hearts! Then, I spent who knows how long waiting in the Underwhere! So sorry if I'm a little edgy," Dimentio remarked.
The duo stepped out of the elevator, when Luigi saw some diamonds flying through the air. He immediately grabbed Dimentio and forced him to duck. "Whoa! Watch out!"
Dimentio looked around, before Luigi grabbed him and pulled him behind a building to hide.
Dimentio's eyes went wide. "Whoa, look at this! Jevil did this all by himself? I'm so proud! Look at how he's grown! You know, when I first met him, I would have never guessed he'd come this far. He was just this boring, normal Jester." Luigi looked at Dimentio as he kept rambling. "That's...great? Anyway, what's our plan?"
Dimentio nodded. "Right! A plan! I suggest we join him. With my brains, his energy, and your....ah....presence, we'll be unstoppable!" Luigi gave Dimentio a dirty look. "No."
Dimentio sighed. "Oh, don't look at me like that. I was only joking." Luigi looked around. "Do you know why his attacks are card based?" Dimentio nodded. "Yeah. He comes from a mostly card based world. He's the joker card." Luigi nodded. "Ah. I see. But what's with the weird knife?" Dimentio shrugged. "I don't know. I think his friend gave it to him or something. He always has it near him. He can also transport himself inside it.....wait."
Dimentio held his hand up and listened.
"Oh, My, Grambi."
"What, what is it??" Luigi asked.
Dimentio had a serious expression on his face. "I can't believe it...."
.....
"HIS THEME IS COOLER THAN MINE!"
Luigi gave Dimentio a confused look. "Umm, what?" Dimentio looked down, clearly upset.
"Uhh, are you...crying?"
"Look, it's been a very long, crazy day, so don't judge me!"
"Uhh....okay?"
"I can't believe it. I never even got to hear his theme until now. Why is he so much better?? I'm supposed to be the best."
"This is what your worried about right now? His theme??"
Dimentio started sobbing into his hands. "Quit Judging me. I've been in prison for years. I'm allowed to be upset!" Luigi placed his hand on Dimentio's back, making an attempt to calm him. "Hey, hey, if it makes you feel better, I think your themes are cooler." Dimentio shook his head. "No, they're not. Quit lying. You're just saying that."

Luigi took his hand back. "Well, both themes are cool. So please stop being upset." Dimentio rubbed his eyes.
"You're right. You're right. So what's our strategy?"
"I don't know! You're the one who knows him!"
Dimentio nodded. "You're right, and I can't beat him. At least..." He gave Luigi a look that sent chills down his spine. "I can't beat him alone." Luigi nervously looked around. "Why are you looking at me like that?? Stop it! You're creeping me out!" Dimentio smiled. "You said L can still take control right? You can just tell him to come out and we can take Jevil down!" Luigi began to nervously fidget. "You don't think I can do it?"
"No no no...actually...yes, but no! L's just better at fighting. He's more confident in his attacks and he's not afraid to really let loose! You tend to hold back."
"Uhh, alright. I can ask him, but he hasn't really wanted to take control ever since the Ultimate Show," Luigi explained. Dimentio chuckled. "Just tell him I'm here. He'll come!" Dimentio seemed a little to confident in that, but Luigi nodded. "O-okay."
He tried communicating to L through his thoughts.
H-hey, Mr. L?
....yes?
Oh, good! You're there! I was wondering if you could sorta maybe help us defeat this guy.
....
Mr. L?
....Nah. I think I'm good.
W-what? But come on! We need you!
I don't care.
Come on. Dimentio's here.
Dimentio's there?
Yes! Dimentio's here! You guys were friends, right? If you help, you'll get to fight by his side! Won't that be fun?
...no.
What? Why not??
....I don't wanna see Dimentio.
Please Mr. L. We need your help.
Well that's rough buddy. I'm staying here.
Please. Why don't you wanna take control? What happened to you??
Nothing. I'd just rather stay here.
Why? When Mario first told me about you he didn't exactly describe you as one to just sit around and do nothing. Why don't you wanna come out?
Because..... No one can hurt me here. Now leave me alone.
Please.
No. Go away, Luigi.
Luigi sighed and turned back to Dimentio.
"Yeah...he doesn't wanna help." Dimentio looked slightly shocked. "Really? Did you tell him I was here?" Luigi nodded. "Yes, yes I did! But he said he didn't wanna see you."
Dimentio's eyes softened. ".....oh. I guess I did kinda blow him up...." Luigi nodded. "So, it looks like you're stuck with me for now."
Dimentio gave Luigi a disappointed look. "Charming. Well, I guess that'll have to do."
Luigi smiled. "Great! Let's go!" Luigi grabbed Dimentio's hand and took off running. "Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold up Luigi, we don't even have a plan!" Luigi continued running. "Well, here's the plan! Step 1, come up with a plan!" Dimentio rolled his eyes. "Great plan, Luigi. When were you going to do that? After we run straight into the middle of the battle??" Luigi nodded. "Mario always told me, act first, think later. It always works for him!" Dimentio had a slightly shocked look on his face. "Well...that's just horrible advice. That's quite possibly the dumbest thing I've heard come out of your mouth."

Luigi and Dimentio came around a corner, when Luigi suddenly stopped, causing Dimentio to run into him. "Why did you stop-" Luigi quickly covered Dimentio's mouth and pointed up. Jevil was floating in the air, happily dancing around. That music was louder than ever.
Dimentio's eyes went wide. There he was. It felt like it had been a lifetime since he'd seen his old friend. And now here he was.
"Wow...look at him go," Dimentio whispered. Luigi nodded, before turning back to Dimentio.
"Okay, I may have told him you died, so coming out right away might not be the best way for you to approach him." Dimentio cocked his head. "Why did you tell him I died?" "....Because you did." Dimentio nodded. "Oh, right right. Ah ha ha~! That did happen. Sorry, sitting in prison for all that time tended to mess with my brain a little." Luigi nodded. "It's alright. I think I'm gonna go out there and just ask him what he wants. Maybe there's a peaceful way to settle this!"
Dimentio smirked. "You're unbearably naïve. Have fun with that."
Luigi stepped forward, Dim hiding just out of Jevil's sight. He made sure to stay near though, since he wasn't allowed to be too far away from Luigi.
Jevil turned around upon hearing Luigi's footsteps. "AH, THE MAN IN GREEN, GREEN! YOU'VE FINALLY RETURNED! COME TO FINISH OUR LITTLE GAME?" Luigi shook his head. "Uhh, no. Now, there's no need to fight. I want to help. I just want to know why you're here."
Jevil beamed, as he lowered himself to the ground and approached Luigi. Dimentio nervously watched. "He's gonna get himself killed..." He muttered under his breath.
"I ALREADY TOLD YOU. I'M HERE BECAUSE DIMMY SAID THERE'D BE A PERFECT WORLD! NOW THAT HE'S GONE, GONE, I'M GOING TO MAKE ONE FOR HIM. A PERFECTLY FUN, CHAOTIC WORLD!"
Dimentio frowned. That was right, he did promise to bring Jevil once his world was made. Ugh, but then everything got messed up. The poor guy must have felt abandoned.
"AND DON'T WORRY MAN IN GREEN. I'VE THOUGHT ABOUT IT, AND DECIDED TO KEEP YOU HERE WITH ME! AFTER ALL, IT'S WHAT DIMMY WOULD HAVE WANTED."
Luigi looked up at Jevil with a confused expression. "What? What do you mean?"
Dimentio's eyes went wide.
"Oh, no no no, Jevil, please shut up," He muttered under his breath.
Jevil laughed.
"WHY, DIMENTIO WANTED YOU IN HIS PERFECT WORLD WITH HIM! HE SAID YOU WERE FAR MORE INTERESTING THAN ANYONE ELSE IN THIS WORLD, WORLD!"
Dimentio slapped his face. "Ugh, Jevil, you idiot," He muttered. Luigi smiled and laughed a little. "He really said that??" He looked back to where Dimentio was hiding for a second, before facing Jevil again. "Well, that's interesting!" Luigi was trying to hold in laughter, while Dimentio was desperately wishing he had his powers so he could teleport himself away.
"Anywho, is there any way you could just...peacefully go back to where you came from?" Luigi said, trying to get back on track. Jevil shook his head. "NO, NO! NOT BACK THERE. NOTHING IS THERE. I'D RATHER PLAY HERE!" Luigi sighed. "Well, I can't let you do that. Please, let's just peacefully-" "NO!" Jevil threw his Devilsknife straight towards Luigi by accident. Luigi stepped to the side, nearly getting hit. Dimentio winced. That was close.
The Devilsknife was sticking out of the ground, Jevil's hand outstretched. He began to breath heavily, a shocked, saddened expression on his face. He composed himself. "I'M NOT GOING BACK." Luigi's face was filled with fear. That was way to close for comfort. Jevil saw this expression and tried to apologize. "MY APOLOGIES, MAN IN GREEN. I DIDN'T MEAN TO CAUSE A SCENE!"
Luigi began to shake. "L-look. I know you don't want to go back, but you don't belong here. Please try to understand-" "NO, NO NO NO, YOU DON'T GET IT!"
Jevil started laughing. "YOU DON'T GET IT! NO ONE GETS IT. SEAM DOESN'T GET IT! UEE HEE HEE!"
He continued laughing, and laughing, and laughing. Luigi didn't know what to do, when Jevil suddenly stopped. "....NO ONE GETS IT."
Jevil looked down and started quietly laughing again. A swirl of clubs started circling around him. "NO ONE GETS IT."
Luigi stepped back. "Uhh." Suddenly, hearts, diamonds, spades, clubs, they were all flying through the air, every which way. Luigi ducked down. "What do I do?? I can't get through to him!" Luigi told himself.
Just then a line of fire hit Jevil. Jevil stopped and looked over at where the fire came from.
Mario stood there, in a fighting stance, rage covering his face. He was breathing heavily. It looked like he'd just ran a marathon or something.
"Back. Away. From. My. Brother."
Luigi's eyes went wide. "Mario?!" Dimentio groaned from his hiding place. "Ugh, Mario," He whispered.
Jevil's smile faded.
"TWO AGAINST ONE?? UNFAIR, NO FUN!" He looked around before smiling again. "BUT DO NOT WORRY, THE GAME HAS JUST BEGUN!"
Suddenly, Jevil teleported away.
Mario suddenly ran in and hugged his younger brother. "Are you okay? Are you hurt?? Who was that???" Luigi smiled and hugged back. Mario continued frantically speaking. "When I got home and you weren't there, I freaked out. Then someone mentioned Dimentio. But that wasn't Dimentio. Who was that??" Luigi sighed. "His name is Jevil. I think people just mistook him for Dimentio."
Mario let out a sigh of relief. "Oh, thank goodness. That's great news. I was worried that Dimentio managed to escape the Underwhere."
Luigi let go and nervously laughed. "Heh....yeah....about that...."
