《Joker's Running Wild (Deltarune, Super Paper Mario, Kirby Super Star)》Chapter 16

Luigi and Dimentio turned around to face their new foe. Luigi quickly told Dimentio to hide. He only wanted to use him if absolutely came down to it.
Jevil teleported into view, happily dancing around. He looked somehow even more excited than earlier. "MAN IN GREEN, MAN IN GREEN! HERE I'VE RETURNED, NOW WITH A TEAM!"
Luigi held his arm out. "Listen, Jevil. No one needs to get hurt. Please, let's just all talk about this." Jevil smiled. "OH, BUT WHERE'S THE FUN IN THAT? AND MY FRIEND CAME ALL THIS WAY! WE DON'T WANNA BE RUDE AND LEAVE HIM OUT OF THE GAME."
Luigi lowered his hand. "What friend? Seam?"
Jevil's eyes softened. "HOW DO YOU KNOW....NEVER MIND."
Luigi stepped forward. "Please, Jevil. You don't have to spread the chaos. Look around! Do you think this is what Dimentio would have wanted?" Jevil rapidly nodded. "YES, YES! A WORLD WITH NO WRONG, ONLY FUN AND HAPPINESS."
Dimentio's eyes softened in his little hiding place. It was nice.... Jevil coming all this way for him. It felt to nice. He didn't deserve it. Originally he only wanted to use Jevil for his plan, since Jevil had potential and could make a strong ally. And then he went to push Jevil to the brink of insanity, yet Jevil still did all this for him. A part of Dimentio wanted to go out there and back his friend up.
Friend? Was Jevil really a friend if Dimentio had originally only wanted him for his own benefit?
Just like L.....
Yes. Friend.
All those hours Dimentio spent with Jevil, he didn't have to do that. It benefitted him in no way, but he still did. Because the truth was, he enjoyed Jevil's company. He enjoyed Jevil's craziness.
Luigi stepped forward. "But you're hurting people. You can't just destroy everything to make a perfect world."
"ENOUGH TALKING, MAN IN GREEN! I DON'T WANNA HEAR WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY! LET'S PLAY!"
Jevil then whistled a long, loud whistle.
Suddenly, four crescent blades came flying from behind Luigi, heading straight for his head. Dimentio saw this and sprinted over, coming out of his hiding place. "LUIGI, LOOK OUT!"
He quickly tackled Luigi to the ground, the blades flying just over them. Luigi looked up.
"Crescents? I thought his attacks were card based!"
Jevil froze upon seeing Dimentio.
Dimentio looked around. "His attacks ARE card based. That didn't come from him...."
Suddenly, Luigi heard a new voice come from above them.
A large, crazy, looking creature with two golden looking wings and multicolored scale looking things flashing beneath each one warped into view.
"Marx from Kirby Super Star has popped in! A final boss here to help? Unbelievable!"

"What is that thing??" Luigi asked. Dimentio raised a masked eyebrow and cocked his head to the side.
"That thing, would be Marx."
Marx warped himself over next to Jevil. "Hey, hey, Jevil, is that who I think it is?"
Jevil's face was frozen in shock, tears in his eyes. He looked down at Luigi and Dimentio. He lowered his voice.
"Y-you're alive?"
Dimentio helped Luigi up. Jevil lowered himself to the ground, happy tears now falling down his face.
"YOU'RE ALIVE!"
Mario found himself in some sort of...he didn't even know what this was. Why was it so dark here? He was in front of a small shop. He looked inside. "Hello? Seam? I need to talk to you. It's about your friend!"
No one was inside. "Huh...well, best get looking around. I've only got so much time."
There was a door nearby. He went inside, and when he stepped out, he was somewhere completely different. He sighed. "Ah, Fast travel. How convenient. Seam? Seam are you here?"
Mario walked up to a tall, thin looking Man with blue skin and white hair. "Um, excuse me, Sir, do you know where I could find Seam?"
The man turned around, and jumped back. "What?? Canith be, another Lightner hath come down herith??" Mario stopped, a confused expression on his face. "Uhh, what?"
"Lightner, stepith back! Therith be a dangerous prisoner on the loose, and a missing person. I, the Duke of Puzzles, Rouxls Kaard, am on the lookout for this being. If thou spotith the prisoner or the missing person, letith me know!"
"Uhh, okay? I just need to find Seam."
"Everyone needith find Seam. Seam is the missing person."
"What??"
"Now step aside, you ungrateful worm. I mustith find the prisoner beforeith he goes spreading lies, breaking rules."
Mario stepped aside. "alright....great." Mario looked down a set of stairs. "I wonder... hey, Rouxls, it was? What's down there?"
"Oh, that beith where the prisoner escaped from. No need for thou to go down there. Now, if thee will excuse me, I must go."
Mario watched as Rouxls walked away. Rouxls seemed kinda stressed. Mario shook his head and looked down at the stairs. "Is Jevil the prisoner?" Mario asked himself. He slowly made his way down the stairs.
There was an open door. How strange. Mario slowly walked through, into a small, strange looking cell.
"Hello? I'm looking for Seam. Is anyone here?" Mario asked into the darkness. He could sense someone in this room.
"Ha ha ha, has someone come to join his freedom. To bad. There's nothing left." Came a low voice.
A confused expression swept over Mario's face. "Can you please just tell me where I can find Seam?"

"Ha ha, you're looking at him."
Mario's eyes went wide. "You're Seam??"
"I'm Seam."
Mario beamed! "You're Seam! That's wonderful! I need your help."
"My help. Why do you come for me? I haven't anything to offer."
Seam stood up and stepped into the light so Mario could see.
He was tall. Much taller than Jevil. He also looked incredibly worn out, like he had given up long ago. This was Jevil's friend??"Uhh, I was sent here to get you."
"What are you, exactly? Another Lightner? I've never heard of you." Mario shook his head. "Why do people keep calling me, 'lightner'? Never mind. It doesn't matter. I just need you to stick with me."
Seam laughed and looked down. "I am just a simple shopkeeper with a minimal role in this world. Why do you seek me out?" Mario shrugged. "Umm, I honestly don't know. Something about your friend."
Seam laughed again. "Ha ha ha, that's funny. I have no friends. My friend is gone. He died." A confused expression spread over Mario's face. "What? That doesn't make sense. They said you were his friend. They said you were the only one who could calm him down." "And who is it you are referring to? I have no friends. You must have me mistaken for someone else." Mario facepalmed. "Ugh, they must have given me the wrong name." Seam nodded. "It appears so...."
Mario looked around. "Well, maybe you can help me. Do you know anyone by the name Jevil, and if he had a friend? If so, where can I find said friend?"
Seam froze. "J-Jevil?" He asked. Mario nodded. "Yeah. I'm looking for his friend. We need someone who can reason with him. Do you know him?"
"....I use to."
Mario smiled. "Great! Do you know if he had any friends?" Seam looked down. "Yes. Just me, and apparently some, 'special someone.'"
Mario's eyes lit up. "Oh, so you are the one I'm looking for! That's great!"
Seam didn't move.
"Uhh, are you okay?" Mario asked.
"Jevil's...alive?" Seam asked. Mario nodded. "Yes. And he's taking over my world, so I need your help. Dimentio said you're the only one who can reason with him."
Seam looked down at Mario and met his eyes, before quietly laughing. "I could reason with the old Jevil. This one...not so much."
Mario shook his head. He was starting to get a little annoyed now. "Well, you're going to have to. One way or another, we need to get him out of Flipside. My brother, Luigi, likes to see the good in others and thinks we can convince him to go home. Or rather, thinks YOU can convince him to go home. But if you don't want to come, we can always resort to the other option."
"What's the other option?" Seam asked.
"Well, we could do things Luigi's way, or MY way, and let me tell you, my way is a whole lot more violent, so I suggest if you want to protect your friend, you quit sulking around here and come help me!"
Seam froze again. They both stood in silence for a good minute, before Seam spoke.
".....Do you think I can really save him?"
Mario shrugged. "It doesn't matter what I think. But we have to try. Luigi and Dimentio are counting on me bringing you back. Right now they're out there, fighting your friend all on their own. It's only a matter of time before they give up and result to violence."
"So you don't think I can save him. Good to know."
"I didn't say that."
"But you didn't say otherwise."
"Ugh, are you going to help me or not??"
Mario's face began to turn red. What a day this had been. First he ran who knows how far to find Luigi, only to find that Luigi had teamed up with Dimentio and was fighting a completely different psycho clown, and now he was in a complete different world talking to some depressed stuffed cat.
Seam slowly nodded. "I'll go with you, but I won't be of much help. I just wish to see Jevil again."
Mario let out a sigh of relief. "Thank GOODNESS!" He sat down. Seam looked around. "So, how do we get to Jevil?"
Mario waved his hand. "Dimentio should just teleport us back when the time comes. Just sit here and hold onto my shoulder or something so when he teleports me back you come with me."
Seam nodded and sat down next to Mario, placing his hand on Mario's shoulder. "Alright."
"...So you've seen Jevil? What's he like now?" Seam asked. Mario let out a small chuckle. "Well, he nearly killed my brother, and I'm pretty sure he's insane." Seam looked down. "Oh.....yeah. Sounds like Jevil...."
Mario saw Seam's saddened expression.
"B-But he's not hurt or anything. He seems pretty healthy. And he's got a nice smile. I'm sure he'll be happy to see you" Mario reasoned, trying to make Seam feel a little better.
Seam smiled at the ground. "If you thought that smile was nice, you should have seen his old one. His real smile. The smile he made before he went insane. The way his face would light up whenever he saw me, or when he was performing."
Mario could see Seam get a little teary.
Seam buried his face in his free hand. "I miss him so much."
Seam didn't cry often. He usually didn't really feel anything, but now, the sadness was taking over.
"I just want my Jevil back."

He's a rock drummer, and his language is that of a rock drummer: slanged, duded, and frequently laced with profanity. He focuses on music, and makes decisions that even the author doesn't approve of. However, that means all his decisions are Kevin's decisions, not those of a system-optimizing power-gamer. There's points (All of Arc 2) where he wanders aimlessly. Goals seem foreign to him at points. What would you do if you were a musician, and the world fell apart and you no longer had an audience or band-mates. You'd be kinda lost. Kevin is. Arc 2 is a lot of Kevin not knowing what to do, going with the flow, and not being articulate enough to know that he doesn't know what to do. 1.
