《Taking A Risk》Chapter 2

Loud music assaulted my ears as Mia and I crossed the threshold entering the house Nate shared with Brooks and two of his other teammates Lucas and Royce.
The place was packed, teeming with bodies clustered together in every corner of the house.
My nostrils filled with the pungent scent of weed as we stepped farther into the house.
Some guy held out a drink to me as we passed by. I rolled my eyes, yeah like I'm going to take that, I always made my own drinks at parties I don't play that shit. Bypassing him we stepped into the living room, where the music was loud as hell I could feel the floors vibrating beneath my feet.
"Come on, Nate said he's in the den," Mia shouted near my ears so I could hear her better over the loud music.
Clasping my hand, Mia linked our fingers together leading the since she's been here several times. We weaved through the maze of dancing bodies several heads swiveled in our direction giving us appreciative looks as made our way to the den.
We spotted Nate right away as we entered the den, he was leaning a walk talking with a group of people I recognized some of them from Mitchell's last week.
As if sensing her presence his head snapped up his gaze landing in our direction or more specifically on Mia. A smile slowly overtook his face until he was full-blown smiling his white teeth contrasting nicely against his smooth dark skin.
Pushing off the wall his gaze remained fixated solely on Mia as he strode toward us. When Mia was within reach, he grabbed her around the waist pulling her against his chest. He lowered his head until their lips met in a deep kiss.
"Damn, Mia you trying to kill me by wearing that dress," he told to her as he pulled away from her face his eyes roaming her body in appreciation. I could tell she was smiling without seeing her face as her body melted into his.
I don't know who she was trying to fool by that whole we're not serious crap she's been trying to feed everyone.
Nate's eyes lifted from Mia connecting with mine over her shoulder. "Hey, Gen I wasn't sure you'd come tonight I thought you might stay home and read one of your kinky romance novels," he said with a teasing grin.

I made the mistake of leaving my kindle on the coffee table in our living room while Nate was over one night. I left on the book I was reading at the time, which happened to be a reverse harem book right in the middle of a sex scene and his nosy ass just had to read it. He's been teasing me ever since. Like I gave a shit I'm not ashamed.
I rolled my eyes. "You know should read one maybe it'll teach you a few things," I quipped.
Nate just stood there seemingly unfazed by my words his usual smile still plastered on his face. "I don't need any help in that department, Right babe?" he questioned smirking down at Mia.
"You know you don't," she grinned up at him before standing up on her toes whispering something in his ear that caused him to grab her ass.
These two are beyond shameless, I cleared my throat. "So, are you two going to stand here the entire night groping each other?" I asked dryly.
"Don't hate," Mia said averting her attention away from Nate toward me.
Chuckling, Nate released Mia from his embrace gripping one of her hands he intertwining their fingers together. "Come on, let's go," he said pulling on Mia's hand and leading us in the direction of his friends.
Stopping in front of them he waved his hand at both Mia and me. "You guys already know Mia and this is Gen, Mia's roommate some of you might remember her from Mitchell's last week."
"She's hard to forget," said Lucas his dark brown eyes raking over my frame from head to toe lingering a little too long on my boobs.
The girl who was clinging to him shot me a nasty look since she was no longer the one receiving his attention. She tried to slink herself closer to him, I don't how that was possible seeing as she was already plastered to his side.
I snickered softly to myself, no need to feel threatened sweetie I don't want your man he's all yours.
"Gen, Mia," someone squealed behind me, twisting around I saw Eliza rushing towards us. Her long blonde hair fell in a thick curtain of beach waves over her lightly tanned shoulders. Her tall slender frame was clad in a tight, red one-shoulder mini dress. She threw her arms around me when she reached me.

Eliza was a hugger, I realized the first time we met, and she hugged me within five seconds of knowing me.
I like Eliza she's cool, but I'm not down with the constant hugging thing. I'm not much of a hugger I value my personal space especially when I don't know you like that.
Releasing me, she went on to hug Mia next, her equally blonde boyfriend Royce just gave me a small wave, from where he was standing. Royce was the complete opposite of Eliza. Where he was quiet and brooding, Eliza was bright, cheery, and constantly talking.
I now realized that I haven't seen Brooks since we arrived. I saw Nate and his two other roommates, but I didn't spot Brooks anywhere. Huh, Mia said that today was his birthday party but he was nowhere in sight.
Hmmm, where was he? And why did I even care?
"Hey, where is Brooks," Mia asked as if she read my mind. "He went to his room to talk to his mom," Nate responded sounding a little concerned.
Before I could analyze why Nate sounded concerned about Brooks speaking to his Mom Eliza wrapped her hand around my wrist. "Come on, let's get something to drink."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After a couple of drinks, Mia and Eliza finally succeeded in dragging me into the living room to dance. I wasn't having a terrible time, though I'll never admit that to Mia.
Thirty minutes later, we were back in the den sitting on a brown leather couch. I was feeling slightly buzzed from the few drinks I consumed. Speaking of all the drinks consumed I was in desperate need of a bathroom.
"I need to pee, I'm going to find a bathroom," I leaned down whispering in Mia's ear.
"You want me to come with you?" she asked as she attempted to rise from the chair we were sitting on. I gripped her shoulders to hold her in place. "Nah I'll before fine, You stay," I removed my hands from her shoulders and gripped the purse that sat in the space between me, and Mia as I stood to my feet.
"Okay, but the downstairs always has a line, so your best bet is to try the one upstairs."
I gave her a nod before I turned and weaved my way through the crowd towards the stairs. I quickly checked the downstairs bathroom and true to Mia's words it had a long line.
Let's hope I had better luck upstairs. Rushing up the stairs, I reached the bathroom, unfortunately, it was locked and from the noises, I heard coming from inside I knew it was going to be occupied for a while.
So, I proceeded to turn the knobs on the other rooms in the hall praying there was a second bathroom or even a bedroom with an ensuite but all the doors were locked so far.
Arriving at the end of the hall, I turned the knob on the last door and this one finally opened. Pushing the door open I stuck my head inside the dim room, the only light in the room was coming from a lit room off to the side that was indeed a bathroom. Thank God, I could cry with relief.
I stepped into the room and shut the door behind me. I made my way toward the bathroom, when I was halfway there a voice stopped me in my tracks.
"What the hell are you doing in my room?" came a very pissed-off voice behind me followed by the soft glow of a lamp
I shrieked in surprise my hand flying to my chest as my heart pounded against my ribcage. My breathing rapidly increased as I spun around to face the familiar figure sitting on the bed. My eyes connect with the icy blue ones belonging to Brooks Heyward.
Well, I guess that answered my earlier questions on where he was.
