《Dark Lord》Chapter 24

RuJin didn't even flinch when that mask was torn off his face. He didn't care if he was found out. It didn't matter.
Instead, he used that moment that ShuYan was distracted, and attacked him. His fan smacked away the sword in ShuYan's grasp, and his palm struck his shoulder, the impact made ShuYan stagger back, as a hint of blood trickled from his mouth.
As ShuYan struggled to hold himself up, his eyes were wide. Shock and disbelief filled them.
"You're RuJin, aren't you?" ShuYan asked, wiping the blood off his mouth and stared straight into RuJin's eyes.
RuJin looked back gracefully, and retreated. His red lips parted as his lyrical words flowed out.
"RuJin? You must've mistaken me for someone else. Do you believe that he would be this kind of man?" RuJin said, noting the man that had walked up behind him, preparing for a sneak attack, RuJin briefly moved his hands.
SiWang (aka his sword) came from nowhere, stabbing into the man's heart, and the man fell, blood flowed from his wound and mouth. The sword stayed in midair, dark energy penetrated from it, releasing an engulfing power.
SiWang was not a normal sword. It was a sword that had its own mind, controlled by itself. The sword was a magical sword that had been made by the first known dark cultivator, and was given the embodiment of life. The sword had lived for a long time, choosing his own master when its past one died.
It had chosen RuJin as it's master when he was on the brink of death. To save RuJin, the sword had taken its own dark energy and transferred it to RuJin. Although the sword did not have a soul as a human would, it was able to move and use spells.

As the sword slowly flew into RuJin's open hand, a gasp was heard.
"No, you can't be him, you can't possibly be him." Qu Ren whispered, his eyes filled with horror as he had finally realized who the man was.
"Hah, how rude of me to not even introduce myself." RuJin said, his eyes filled with mirth as he glanced towards Qu Ren. He raised his hand and the five disciples retreated from their battle to stand behind him.
"I am known as the Dark Lord. Otherwise, you so call righteous people have also called me the Evil Slayer." As his words echoed, an evil energy was emitting from the sword within his grasp. A wisp of dark energy seemed to surrounding everyone and spread around them.
ShuYan widened his eyes from RuJin's words. He hadn't mistaken this person. He knew that he hadn't at all. He knew that this was RuJin. It didn't matter how he had changed, he knew that this was him.
RuJin's eyes glinted at he stared at Tian Sect's elder, Qu Ren. His eyes were filled with danger, eyes that could freeze someone to their bones.
"I've only come here to get retribution. It has not been any of your turns yet. So until then, enjoy your meager life. Your wrongdoings will always catch up to you, but then again, who am I to say such words. After all, killing people is my talent, especially those who think that they're always right." RuJin smirked, his smile filled with killing intent.
"You evildoer, you will never be able to escape heaven. The right doings will always condemn you, they will always beat the dark. The fate written for you will be worse than even death. The heavens will hurt you in a way that is more painful than death itself. You will never be able to live a peaceful life!" The sound of a young girl's voice ran clear, her voice soft but stern.

To this comment, RuJin only scoffed. Heaven? Heaven had already punished him, so what. There is no such thing as right or wrong, it was only the selfish thinking of human that say so, those who thought that what they were doing is right.
Fate? Fate has already been cruel to him, what more can it do.
Right? Did these people think that killing a whole village fill with people, people who were innocent, was right? They killed his mother, his sister, took away those who were dearest to him. They killed people who were innocent. They killed them without thinking twice about the consequences.
RuJin was only returning the favor. At least he was killing people that weren't innocent. He killed those who had done evil deeds, those who used their power to oppress others. If this was what others thought of him, then let them. Power may have blinded them, but not him.
If he wanted to, he could kill a whole sect without raising a finger. If he wanted, he could take over the nation. If he wanted riches, wanted gold, nothing could stop him. Who were these people to say that the heaven will punish him when they had not yet been punished? Just how foolish were they?
"If so, let it happen. You say I am evil, to which, I will say that I am. But at least I kill without lying. My hands may be stained with blood, my sword may have severed many lives, but haven't you also done the same thing?" RuJin pointed his sword towards that young girl, his eyes filled with fury.
"You may lie to yourself and say that what you do is right, but I will not lie to myself. I, who have killed without denying, will forever be better than someone who kills but denies. If the heaven is to punish me, I will get an easier punishment than someone like you people." With his voice, the force of a tremendous power rushed towards them, knocking almost everyone ahead of him down.
A few coughed out blood, while others stood hunched.
"Heed my word, I will always return. I will not stop until I see that these sects have changed their way." The sound of footsteps were heard until it stopped, the air rippled before returning to peace.
The dark energy had gone away, along with that person, to who, ShuYan could only let get further.

Author's Thoughts: What is litRPG (From wikipedia) - LitRPG, short for Literary Role Playing Game, is a literary genre combining the conventions of MMORPGs with science-fiction fantasy novels.[1] LitRPG is a literary genre where games or game-like challenges form an essential part of the story. A LitRPG work simultaneously narrates the story of characters inside and outside of the game-world. At least some of the characters in a LitRPG novel therefore understand that they are playing a game: they are 'meta-aware'. So, while Tolkien's Lord of the Rings is a fantasy novel, a book about people creating avatars and interacting in a Lord of the Rings MMORPG would be a LitRPG novel. Why do I read them? You know, I am not too sure. I love MMOs. I played them, quit them, joined up and repeated the cycle. They are fun! They are a massive waste of time but so are most games. Do I want to read about someone else playing them? Sort of?The advent of VR and the possibility of VR someday becoming so immersive that you can't tell them from reality sets the imagination on fire. What if this could be life? But most stories fall short. At the end of the day the protagonist hangs up his VR helmet and goes to have dinner with his mom and dad or other family and it becomes meaningless. It's like the story that ends because the main character woke up and nothing you read matters. There have been some books that explore the concept of the intersection of reality and total immersion VR. Enders Game is a classic. There were a few others that escape me but they exist, however, the cross between the game and reality is weak.So what if the game was real? The technology needed for total immersion VR is so advanced that by the time we reach that goal technology should have naturally evolved to include several items. You must have direct neural input. You simply can't have a total immersion (all senses and perfect presence) experience without this basic prerequisite. If you have direct neural access, you can probably do neat things like feed knowledge and skills directly to that person. You can undoubtedly do many horrible things as well. Muscles are controlled by the brain. If you control the brain why would you let the body just sit there and rot? A person that sits unmoving for 24 hours a day will have their body whither away just like a coma patient. However, if you control the brain you could control the muscles. On a basic level, this would be isometric impulses, working muscle group against muscle group to avoid atrophy. Taken to its logical conclusion you would be able to gain muscle mass and program muscle memory. The flip side is that you could remote control their body... but let's not go there. So what would people do if it were real? Well, they would probably limit and regulate it since the drawbacks are very obvious. Even if you look at the basic aspects of this you can see some negative possibilities. Look at the Sword Art Online anime. Personally, I think they missed the boat by putting a bomb in the VR helmet. Do you really need a bomb when you have direct access to the brain? So what kind of events would you need to have a situation where the obvious drawbacks haven't been explored? Maybe a society where the advancement of technology has so far outstripped the explorations of its applications that ignorance was truly bliss? Okay, so I had to put in an alien invasion to kickstart the premise, but that was just one of the possibilities.
