《Dark Lord》Chapter 35

AN: Remember, from here on forwards, all the chapters will be in present time.
RuJin looked at the dim lantern that was lit on the small table beside him. His eyes were a bit cloudy and red as he blinked his emotions away.
Even now, he remembered everything as clear as the day he had witnessed it. On that day that he lost ShuYan, all he remembered was thinking that since ShuYan was gone already and that he would've died anyways, he would sacrifice his life in return for killing everyone who had touched ShuYan. He didn't think that they would still remain safe, although their strength had dropped by quite a bit.
No. All the cultivators of this time were weak, weaker than those from 20 years ago. And even then, those were still weak to him.
RuJin clenched his fist. He had his whole life planned out with ShuYan. After he had won the war, they would have settled down. RuJin would've stepped down from his identity as the Dark Lord and would've disappeared from the cultivation world. He would've spent his life in peace along with ShuYan by his side. Then, he would've opened up even more towards ShuYan.
Everything should've gone like that, but because of miscalculation, he lost everything. He had lost everyone that he loved, just like always.
Now, he was given a second chance in life. But for what? Was he suppose to get revenge, and risk never being able to live in the place ShuYan once had?
Although he had said to those Sect elders that the Dark Lord would be back, he wasn't so sure anymore.
In the end, he would become the old, cold hearted him like before. Like the times before ShuYan had come and showed him that he was loved.
The cruelest torture of all is being stuck in old memories and still be unwilling to move on.
And that was exactly what RuJin felt.

He didn't want to move on, he didn't want to believe that this was really the end of him and ShuYan, that there was no such thing as a second chance. He wanted to live in those memories of his, because in them, he found the joy of his life.
ShuYan was everything to him. He didn't even realize until he had no time to give everything he had to ShuYan. No time to show how much ShuYan meant to his heart, what his existence was in his life.
But who could he blame?
Should he blame himself for becoming someone so cruel and evil?
Or it was it the faults of the righteous sects?
He rubbed his face forcefully with his hands, his eyes red as he let out a stifled cry. It was painful, it was so painful. To know that someone like him, an evil, cruel, bloody murderer was alive while someone like ShuYan, who was kind, understanding, and loving was gone instead.
Someone like ShuYan deserved to live, it was himself who had to ridden of. But the heavens had took the wrong person. They were suppose to take him, not ShuYan.
RuJin's emotions were running wild. His heart started to beat with pain, his thoughts running wild.
He needed to be calm. Maybe like him, ShuYan was able to make it back. Although it had took him a while before doing so, he still wanted to believe.
RuJin's eyes traveled to the darkness of his room, staring at the guqin that ShuYan had once played to him.
ShuYan had even wrote a song for him using this instrument. One that was special, meant only for the two of them. As his eyes drifted there, he felt almost as if he could hear it being played. And for just a second, he thought that he had saw ShuYan's figure smiling brightly at him while playing their song.
Calming himself, he closed his eyes. He knew that it was just an illusion, and even if he wish it was true, he knew that it wasn't.

Flashback
ShuYan's smile was unable to be concealed as he looked at RuJin. Seeing how RuJin was concentrated nn him, he took a deep breathe, strumming the strings to the guqin as he opened his mouth.
RuJin looked at ShuYan, eyes warm as he faintly smile. Although the smile was barely able to be seen, ShuYan was able to see it from the corners of his eyes and his heart jumped.
ShuYan then concentrated on his special song, the one for the love of his life, RuJin.
RuJin couldn't help it as he smiled. This was a gift beyond anything in his life. No, ShuYan was a gift beyond everything in his entire life.
Flashback ends
RuJin couldn't help but have a sad smile on his face as he remembered that day. Of course, he knew that it would only bring him tears but he loved seeing ShuYan's smile.
Then, he took a very deep breath.
After today, this side of him will remain buried until the day he finds ShuYan again.
Until then, he will return back to who he was before meeting ShuYan once more. This was the safest way. If he still had those feelings, who knew when he would suddenly waver.
This was for the best.
As soon as these words went through his head, the emotion from his eyes disappeared right away. His face turned stoic and cold, void of any emotion.
Right now, he was the Dark Lord.
The one figure that would bring fear upon all, the person who was cold hearted, a murderer at heart.
This was the person that made everyone relieved when they found out he had been killed.
His official return started now. And he was going to stop at nothing until he saw ShuYan once more.
AN: I made a song for them by the way. Blame it on me because I just couldn't resist writing a song for them. I only wrote the lyrics though.
Till Even Time No Longer Exists
Written by Shellyrill
ShuYan:
So it seems that you were the one
The one that remains in my dreams, remaining for so many nights
The one that holds this heart of mine, but didn't even know
The one that has always been living deep within my heart
ShuYan:
For years, searching aimlessly for that same face
Wandering endlessly across the world, just to catch a glimpse of you
Unwilling to believe the thought of you being gone from this world
I will go against all who tries to tear apart our love
RuJin:
I don't know when my heart had belonged to you
But if it's for you, I am willing to give up everything I have
Your love will be the strength I need to fight against the heaven
I am willing to face the wrath of the sea's and mountain's for you
RuJin:
So it seems that you were the one
The one I had fallen for, but hadn't realize what it really meant
The one that has always been loving me, even when I had changed so much
The one that has always been living deep within my heart
RuJin and ShuYan:
Even if the world turns its back on us, I will still love you
Even if the heavens tries to tears us apart, I will remain strong
I will never be willing to betray the true embrace of love
I will never let you go even when time no longer exists
ShuYan:
Even if the world turns its back on us, I will still love you
Even if the heavens tries to tears us apart, I will remain strong
I will never be willing to betray the true embrace of love
I will never let you go even when time no longer exists
RuJin:
I will continue to wait if there is a chance you will come back
Waiting till even time no longer exists
