《Jam Fest Book Club》🤩Idol Quality+Prizes🤩

Hey there, look at you trying to be the best Jammer you can be and reach Jam Idol status within our festival. You must want everything you can possibly get from the club and/or want to be as helpful as possible. That's very brave and we're proud of you for taking this step!
First things first, what is considered quality feedback?
, that varies. Inlines can help to correct a specific grammar issue or point out a line that really left an impression on you. But they're also great for simply reacting to that exact moment in the story.
Now, you may think reacting to a story isn't all that helpful, but some authors would beg to differ. There are writers here who enjoy getting those reactions from you as a reader. Of course, that doesn't mean you should only be reacting. The whole point of book clubs is to be helpful after all.
Do the best you can to offer advice, praise something you like, and react within your inline comments. Sometimes, with inline comments, quality and quantity are the same things. Who doesn't like lots of inlines, after all, right?
or chapter reviews are where you can really shine with your feedback.
Sometimes for final reviews, it can be helpful to have a list of different areas to cover. Here's one you can use if you'd like.
Characters:
Dialogue:
Grammar/Structure:
What you liked and why:
What you thought could be improved:
What you think might happen next or even what you hope will happen:
Overall thoughts:
For your first time reading a new story, you can even include your thoughts on the title, blurb, and cover.
Though the biggest thing to focus on in a chapter review comment is giving it your all. Even if you choose not to follow a list or cover every area, there are still ways to be as helpful as possible. Be open, honest, and supportive. Maybe you didn't find anything wrong with the chapter, and if that's the case, that's fine. Just let the author know everything that worked for you and give as many details as possible.
On a final note about end-of-chapter comments, we know that English is not everyone's first language. So, sometimes leaving in-depth feedback can seem daunting when you don't feel equipped enough to tackle subjects like grammar. All we ask is that you do your best. No matter what, we will be able to tell who is trying their hardest and who isn't, regardless of language barriers. And, if this is a concern for you, feel free to message us.

Now, with all that said, we feel you can never go wrong with being honest. Express your thoughts and feelings on what you read, be respectful.
Be careful of your tone of voice when writing your comments. Sometimes purely being blunt can be read differently than you intended, so try your best to be mindful of what you're saying and how you are saying it. Do your best to also point out something you thought was done well that can help soften your review and keep the writer from feeling discouraged. You don't have to be all sunshine, rainbows, and lots of fluff. No one has to kiss anyone's backside. But there is such a thing as tact, and we ask you to use it when writing your reviews.
, if someone is simply expressing tough love, don't take it as an attack right away. Read their comment from a non-biased perspective. Yes, you love your book and you worked hard on it. You want to protect it with every ounce of your being. But you also joined this club to receive constructive criticism and gain feedback from different perspectives.
Ask yourself, is this rude or honest? Is the reviewer using harsh words that tear my work apart? If they aren't and they're just giving their true thoughts and feelings, then take a deep breath. Not everyone is going to be a fan, and if you want to be a writer, you need to learn how to take critiques that aren't always favorable.
What is not acceptable is deleting comments your partner left before a founder or admin has checked them, editing the reviewed chapter before it's been checked, fighting with your partner in the comments, or causing a huge fuss within the club book or Discord. If you think there is a problem, message one of the founders(Red, Mer, or Chelsea) directly. Also, keep in mind that every comment is read and checked for quality by the founders and admins. If we see a problem, we will handle it. Bullies are not tolerated in Jam Fest and we will not allow anyone to harass you.
To help get those gears turning each week and inspire some unique feedback, we offer a "Question of the Week" aka QOTW. This question is not required but is another way to earn music notes and have some fun. These questions are to be answered at the end of each chapter in your partners' books and the BOTW. They also must be easily identifiable with the . The QOTW doesn't have to be answered in its own comment but must include the hashtag in order for your admin to find it.

By answering the QOTW you get:
- 1 music note for answering in BOTH partners' books
- 1 music note for answering in the BOTW
So, let's say you've earned ten music notes for quality feedback, answering the QOTWs, and competing in the weekly mini quiz. Congratulations, you're a Jam Idol. Well done!
But, what now?
Well, first off, your name on our member/family list will be moved to the Jam Idol section of the page. You'll also be put in the BOTW lottery which is only available to our Idols. But it doesn't stop there. After cashing in your first 10 notes for Idol status, every not you earn after can be collected and cashed in for prizes. You'll collect these tokens of a job well done until you wish to exchange them for a prize. Each prize has a different price, and once you use those music notes, they will be taken away so you can earn more. Though some of these prizes can only be rewarded once, or only once every so often.
Finally, . For each round your reviews are lacking, you lose a music note until you lose your title. You can also lose notes for being late. This doesn't mean you have to go above and beyond all the time, but if you're clearly not putting in much effort, we will be able to tell, and we will take away a note.
Now that you know how this works, let's get to the good part.
Personal bio added to the member/family page = one note 🎵 (one time use, written by either you or a founder, can find examples of bios on family page under founders/managers' names)
Your book advertised on the club profile banner = two notes 🎵🎵 (advertisement lasts for two weeks, can only be used once every three months)
Your name listed on the club bio = three notes 🎵🎵🎵 (lasts as long as you keep your Idol status)
Shoutout from the founders on their personal WP accounts = three notes 🎵 🎵 🎵(can only be done once every three months)
A free graphic from our new graphics shop= three notes 🎵 🎵 🎵(the designer has the right to deny your request in which case you will have to ask for a different one. Each designer's rules on how many edits they're willing to make still stand, but you do not have to do the payment. The Notes are your payment.)
Skipping the BOTW lottery and becoming BOTW in the next round = four notes 🎵🎵🎵 🎵(can only be done once every three months/if you have been BOTW within the last three months, you must wait)
An author interview in the club magazine = five notes 🎵 🎵 🎵 🎵 🎵 (one-time use)
Comment groupie: One of the founders will read and leave genuine but positive comments on two chapters of your book = five notes 🎵 🎵 🎵 🎵 🎵 (Can only be cashed in once a month, and all comments will be left from the club account. Though if you cash in for this prize more than once, we will assure the same "groupie" from your first requests will be the one to continue reading.)
A 15-minute brainstorming session with the founder of your choice = five notes 🎵 🎵 🎵 🎵 🎵 (All brainstorming sessions will be done on Discord in a private channel.)
Featured on the club's social media accounts = six notes 🎵 🎵 🎵 🎵 🎵 🎵
An extra entry in the Jam-Board awards or the ability to enter a category that is already full = six notes 🎵 🎵 🎵 🎵 🎵 🎵
🚫A five-chapter review in our review book = seven notes 🎵 🎵 🎵 🎵 🎵 🎵 🎵(This option is currently unavailable due to lack of volunteers)
Switched to a different reading group = eight notes 🎵 🎵 🎵 🎵 🎵 🎵 🎵 🎵(The founders will move you to a different group and this can only be done once every three months)
(If you leave the club, your notes are deleted. If you requested a prize but had not received it before you left, you will not receive it. Prizes are for members and must be bought with notes. Not a member? No notes? No prizes.)
And that's it for now. If you have any ideas for prizes, feel free to message them to us here or in Discord.

The Cracks in the Labyrinth
Evoking the paranoid tension of Rosemary's Baby and the unnerving atmosphere of the cult horror film Jacob's Ladder, The Cracks in the Labyrinth is a disturbing psychological thriller set in present-day Caracas, where the government has devolved into a "democratic dictatorship"-a creepy suspense novel meant to challenge your deeper, subconscious fears of losing control. It consumed the sanity of an entire country...And it was not from this world. It couldn't have been. Whatever caused the incident known as "The Red Christmas" drove Venezuela into madness.Even ten years since it happened, none of the survivors of that night dare to attempt to make sense of it all, including Adam. Living ostracized to hide from the brutal way of life in Caracas, he's working tirelessly as an online writer to help his brother and sister flee the country. Now, as he's about to have enough money to take them to safety, he receives an email from his old girlfriend ... which is remarkable, considering she's been presumed dead for years. Adam tries to think nothing of the email or the broken video file attached to it. He convinces himself that it has to be a computer virus of some kind until he discovers something terrifying: the video might link his sister to the worst night of his life, the night his girlfriend went missing, the night of "The Red Christmas". Then he realizes this could be a threat; his sister's life could be in danger. As he starts to investigate who sent the video, Adam begins to uncover dark truths about his neighbors and finds evidence that there might be a larger conspiracy at play. The problem is that he's starting to suffer from hellish hallucinations that make him question what is real. Soon, the only clear thing to him is that someone doesn't want him to dig up the past. Will Adam be able to stay sane long enough to find out what really happened the night of "The Red Christmas"? Will he succeed in helping his family escape the country?
