《A Walk With The Prince》Chapter 2 - The Scarlet forest

As you walked through the forest, the trees twisted and turned from left to right, it's leaves were as red as fresh picked cherries and their trunks ebony like ink, leaves kissed the rough ground as they fell gently, forming dark hills looked bumpy and uneven and you could smell the sticky sap corroding from the bark of trees. couple miles past and from the left you faintly caught glimpse of a lushful stream appearing behind the thick trees. 'look [Y/N], a stream!' Ralsei said in excitement. Both of you headed down the steep bank for a short rest. you grabbed the bread and water from your bag and shared it with the prince as both of you sat upon a long, dark log. The foamy water rushed on for like eternity. it looked crystal clear to the point you could drink it without fear of sickness. 'I'd never thought this world would be so peaceful..' You softly spoke to the prince as you finished your piece of cake.
Ralsei gave you a soft smile. He got closer to you and tried to hold you hand but quickly hesitated. "It's like I never want to leave..." . 'Is it true?' Ralsei said. 'what about your own world?' 'I don't need it' you replied. 'Ralsei... There're somethings I haven't told you about, 'Things that have lingered with me for a long while'. You started to tear up as ralsei noticed. 'Oh honey...' He said softly. As you sank into his lap as he held you against his chest. He sang one of his lullabies he learnt from his reading time:
Do not fret for I am here,
swim the scarlet river vast so clear,
for when you rest upon the waves for warmth will wash your dying days and comfort cradles you in it's arms and harm will be undone.

swim and swim far my child for peace will find you in the end when loving darkness reigns upon your wary soul.
You felt relived like as if shadows passed. You looked Ralsei in the eyes, your face still drenched with tears. You gave him a tight hug and you heart filled with warmth. 'I... I'm sorry' you stammered. 'I know it's not really manly to cry.' You sniffed. 'Aww... there's nothing to be sorry about!' Ralsei said. 'It's okay to cry honey.' You slightly pulled away from Ralsei's embrace as you wiped away your tears. 'Tell me what's wrong?' Ralsei said, tilting his head like a confused dog. 'Things haven't been not great at home' you said as you trembled. 'since Susie and Kris have been gone for a month, I have been alone, isolated and bored. My parent's haven't done anything at all really. My Farther is an abusive asshole who doesn't care and my Mother hasn't been with me very often.' 'I'm sorry to hear that...' Ralsei said with melancholy, his tail stopped wagging. 'Hey... At least you still have me ok?' He said reassuring you.
'Your right Ralsei... you said softly. 'I'm just glad to be hear with you...' You heard the sounds of Dark birds flocking in the trees and the water from the stream still gurgling. 'I think we best get going' you said. And so you pack up the left over baggage and you and Ralsei clambered uphill to the trail and continued heading along the path. You were in front of Ralsei surveying the land, you saw a big soft hill, it was not too much a steep hill so you could walk up with breeze but it was tall enough for a great vantage point. So you and ralsei walked up the hill and reached the peak. You thrusted your spear into the ground as your cloak blew in the wind, looking heroic. Behind you to the south was the silhouette of Ralsei's castle afar, as you turned around again to the north you looked down and spotted huge looming rocks in the far distance which peaked your interest.

with growing confidence you slid down the hill top with little ease. Ralsei who was still at the top looked timid to go down. you insisted that you would catch him as he reached the bottom. So with a short breath Ralsei slid down, his cute long ears dangling as the wind blew in his face. you caught him and both of you tumbled like boulders against the dark grass. You opened your eyes and discovered Ralsei accidently laying on top of you. He blushed as he quickly jolted back. He fixed his crooked glasses as you brushed away the small blades of grass and twigs stuck in his soft fur as he giggled childishly. both of you went back on the trail again to the large abnormal stones.

The friends found themselves home in the real world, exactly as they'd been the night they were taken, as if no time had passed... except only three came back. Hi there! This was my entry for National Novel Writing Month, because why only write one series at a time? The more the merrier! (meanwhile, my keyboard bursts into flames...) I'm also the writer of The Last Science, an ongoing low-fantasy/speculative sci-fi series. If you're familiar with that, you know what to expect here: lots of character-focused drama and dialogue, not a whole lot of traditional action. However, I'm writing a bit differently than usual here, and in a very different structure, so there should be some surprises for returning readers. I hope you enjoy it! [Discord] — for those of you who want to hang out and chat. Cover art (fullsize): Path of Revelation, by taenaron (Tobias Roetsch), modified by Etzoli. Normally I like to do my own cover art from scratch, but I was in a rush for the contest. Might be replaced down the line if I get time. Right as Rage
Only 15 years have passed since the miscreant god, Villi, stole magic from the gods and gave it to mortals. In response the mortals seem to be doing their best to squander this gift. The Kingdom of Abrune regulates it, the church of the Sacred Hierarchies outright condemns it, but one 'wildman' from across the sea begins his journey after being cursed by it. Vakdragnar's curse manifests when he loses his temper. It has driven everyone he’s ever cared about away from him. Out of options and money, he travels to the city of Tirough and quickly finds himself on the wrong side of the law. He is persecuted despite his intentions to do good. How can you stand against evil if everyone you’re trying to protect thinks you’re the villain? And if this curse is truly a part of him now, what if they’re right? **************************************************************************************************** Right as Rage is a story I’ve been excited to write for some time now. I hope everyone is as excited to read it. This story is going to be told over several arcs, with each arc containing 7-12 chapters, and an interlude or two each. I plan on submitting new chapters once a week on Tuesday evenings.

The Strangers
Brian Jeffries wakes up in a bed that is not his own, in a room dimly lit, surrounded by a large group of others just like him. This group of twenty-five finds themselves teleported to the land of Exandria, a world of swords and magic, of elves and orcs, of dungeons and dragons. A strange old man informs them that they are the newest members of the Adventurer's Guild, a group that takes contracts all around the world for gold and glory. For these normal humans the choice is simple: Serve or be executed. The captives are split into parties and sent out on their first jobs. Follow Brian and his newfound allies as they learn to become professional adventurers, complete contracts for the Guild, and maybe find a way home. To honor the source material's Dungeons and Dragons roots, I will be rolling dice throughout the development of this story. Everyone has a character sheet. From combat encounters to social interactions, everything that can be rolled will be rolled. See how a natural 1 can turn the tide of a battle, how a successful intimidation check can subvert a fight, or how deception can reveal critical info. No one is safe and anything can happen when you put your fate in your hands, take a chance, roll the dice. A Critical Role Fanfiction
