Everyone herd footsteps coming down the hall. Assuming that person had the last jadeblade.
"Hahaha! Karlof wins!"
The fighters clapped and cheered as the ninja exchanged saddened looks
Kai snuch up behind Karlof and used a screwdriver to loosen Karlof 's metal gauntlet.
"Ah. Looks like you got a screw loose."
Not loosing a second, Kai snatched up the jadeblade and made his way to the alter. He placed the final jadeblade on the podium as everyone cheered, with the disapproval from Garmadon. Kai looked at Skylor who smiled back at him
"We have a loser!" Chen announced. The crowed turned to Karlof.
"That's not fair. He cheated." Karlof said putting his gauntlet back on.
"I did what I had to do." Kai said.
"That is not how you win." Garmadon cut in.
"Fine, I lose. Karlof never wanted to be on stinking island." Karlof said.
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear you did not enjoy your stay." Chen said as his chain came down behind him.
"I guess this worked out for the best. This is goodbye!" Chen pushed a bottom on his chair and a trap door opened underneath karlof.
Everyone watched, bewildered at the sight.
"As you can see, lose and you are out. Break any rule, you are out. Never bite the hand that feeds you Master Chen delicious noodle!" Chen said as one of his men took Karlof's frame on the bracket and crushed it.
"Now rest up. Tomorrow the tournament will recommence." Chen said.
. . .
Everyone had the oputunity to eat in a banquet hall as the ninja grouped together in a booth.
"At least the chow's good." Cole said.
All the ninja we're given new matching gis to set in the tournament.
"Arrgh, it's killing me. What's under the trapdoor? What happens when you lose?" Jay asked no one in particular.
"Don't think about that." Garmadon said.
"It's all I can think about. I moved on. I feel guilt. These are not good feelings." Jay said.
"You think you feel bad? Imaging how I feel." Kai cut in.
"Okay, we just need to find Zane, when we can leave this place all together." Morro said.
"I cannot read you." Lloyd said.
"One munite you wanna fight someone and the next you wanna leave." He said.
Garmadon chuckled at Morro. The wind ninja shook his head.
"In Morro's youth, he could get competitive." Garmadon said.
The ninja's jaws dropped as their attention was turned to Morro.
"Unbelievable."
"IM SORRY, WHAT?" Jay yelled.
"You, a person who stays in all day reading scrolls, that's lame, by the way, was competitive?!" Jay said.
"Okay, those scrolls are not boring, and I am a person, you know." Morro said.
"Okay, can we get back to Zane?" Cole asked.
"How are we actually supposed to do this plan? You heard Chen. Break a rule and we're out. He's not gonna let us roam around."
"Then it's a good thing we're Ninja. Meet me in my room at midnight." Kai said.
"You mind if I join you?" Pale man asked.
"Disappear, pal! This is private." Jay shot out. The elemental master used his power to disappear but his tray was still floating in air.
"I know you're still here. I can see your lunch tray." Jay scoffed.
"Wow, Jay, you were really mean." Cole said.
"How am I supposed to know if we can trust him? See what this island is doing to me? It's corrupting me!" Jay yelled.

"It has to stop. I'll see you tonight." He said.
. . .
Kai flexed in front of his mirror, you know, like he does every night. He looked at the large clock in his room that struck twelve and went out to his balcony. He saw guards walking down below and Kai looked to his right to see Lloyd, Morro and Cole jumping down and running into Kai's room to stay hidden.
Jay was on the balcony just above when Kai saw Skylor walk out. As Jay jumped down, Kai pushed him down to keep Jay out if sight. The blue ninja yelled.
"What was that you said?" Skylor asked.
"Uh, I said w-w-what a beautiful night. Haha." Kai stammered.
"Oh, come on." Jay whispered as he grabbed onto the ledge.
"What do you think happened to Karlof?" Skylor asked.
"I feel horrible." Kai said.
"If I had known what would happen--"
"You did what you had to do to stay in the Tournament. I'm sorry if I was cold to you earlier." Skylor said.
"Psst!" Jay signaled Kai.
"Maybe it's good to have friends here." Skylor said.
"Kai!"
"Jay, would you stop making noise?" Kai said through his teeth.
"You had asked about my power..." Skylor started.
"Uh, yeah, oh, it's so cold out. Uhhh..." Kai said. The a cool breeze hit Kai's back. The fire ninja turned around to see Morro just at the corner of his room, signaling to hurry things up.
"Uh, better call it a night." Kai said walking into his room.
"Oh. Okay. Sorry to have bothered you." Skykor said.
"Oh, okay. Good night." Kai slammed his door as Skylor went inside. Kai opened his door again and rushed to help Jay.
"You just had to leave me hanging, huh, Romeo?" Jay asked as Kai helped him up.
Inside, Lloyd and Morro were sitting on some furniture that Kai had as Cole snaked on some chocolate.
"Whoa-ho-ho-ho. Nice digs." Jay said looking around.
"I know. His room is so much nicer than mine. Look, chocolate-covered shell peas. I love these." Cole took the bowl of chocolate and junped on Kai's bed.
"Oh, and look how soft your pillows are. Man, mine are made of rock. What a crock." Cole scoffed.
"Okay, it was almost impossible to get here. This place is swarming with guards. Any ideas on how we search the island?" Jay asked.
"We travel by shadow. Cover every square inch of this place until we find him." Kai said.
As the others were discussing plans, Cole pushed his head back onto a pillow and the bed flipped over.
"The island's big. We'll need to split up." Jay said.
"We need to stay together." Morro said.
"What about groups?" Lloyd suggested.
The bed flipped over again, bringing Cole back.
"Uh, guys, this bed is, uh..." Cole said.
"Cole, I get it! You like my bed. Would you stop playing around?" Kai said annoyed.
"I think I know how we can search the island." Cole smirked.
. . .
"Okay, I fee ridiculous." Lloyd said. The ninja were all lying on Kai's bed as Cole instructed them to.
"Ah, you're right. The pillows are soft!" Jay exclaimed.
"Is this a joke?!" Morro and Lloyd sat up at the same time.
"I must've done something to trigger it." Cole said.
"I was laying here, then I stretched--"
The bed flipped over as Cole' ahead hit the pillow again. Everyone gasped as they found a tunnel beneath.

"Whoa! Secret passageway! Cool." Jay exclaimed.
Everyone jumped down, Morro giving a soft landing. Kai lit up his hand with fire to light the way.
"Nice work, Cole. Maybe Zane's not on the island, but in it." Kai implied.
The five heard grunting of someone from above.
"Quiet!" Lloyd said.
"Do you hear that?" He asked.
The looked up and saw two small hole with light coming out of it.
"Oh, secret peep holes. Haha! Super cool." Jay jumpe up to reach them.
"Sounds like someone's fighting on the other side of this wall."
"What do you see? Who's fighting?" Cole asked.
"It's not a fight. It's Skylor's room. And it looks like she's training." Jay said.
"Let me see, let me see!" Kai said as extinguished his flame.
Kai jumped to beside Jay.
"Ah, looks like Kai's got the hots for her." Cole teased.
"No, she's competition. I just wanna know what powers we're up against." Kai excused. Kai tired to oush Jay out if the way to see.
"Wait your turn!" Jay exclaimed.
"Ah, we can at least share!" Kai said.
"Guys, this is an invasion of privacy." Lloyd said.
"You guys are pervs." Morro said.
"Ugh, her room doesn't reveal anything about her power." Kai said.
Skylor jumped up and punched her fist forwards. Kai and Jay gasped.
"What was it? What did you see?" Cole asked.
"She's... Fire." Kai said.
"Wait a minute, if we're all descendants of Elemental Masters..." Lloyd said.
"Kai's heart is on fire. Kai's heart is on fire. Kai's heart is on fire." Cole teased.
"She can't be." Morro interrupted.
"There's only one master per element in each time period." He explained.
"Can we please just keep moving?" Kai asked annoyed.
"It's like a maze down here. Good thing you're leaving a trail back to our room." Kai said to Cole who was dropping a chocolate every so often.
"I'm what? Oh, yeah, heh. I meant to do that." Cole said.
The ninja found a part that entered deeper down and followed it. Soon, the came across a cave hallway.
"Everyone stop!" Lloyd pulled Kai back. The green ninja found a thin string lined across the ground.
"Booby traps." Lloyd said.
"Haha! Booby traps. Even cooler. Haha." Jay laughed.
"Or, I mean, kinda cool. I mean, they're totally not cool, you know, 'cause they're dangerous." He said after the glares of the others.
"From here on out, we have to watch our step." Lloyd said. They carefully stepped over the string and kept on going. Morro stopped and suddenly pulled everyone behind a boulder.
"Ow! You slammed me into the wall! What the heck, dude?" Cole exclaimed.
"Sorry, it just happened." Morro said.
"Well, it's a good thing you did that." Kai said.
"Look."
All the men from Chen's temple were walking down the stone hallway. They each had sets of purple snake tattoos and snake skulls as head dresses.
"How did you know they were coming?" Lloyd asked.
"I didn't." Morro said watching the men pass by.
"This is no time to be cocky, Morro." Jay said.
"I'm not. I really didn't know." Morro said.
"Pst!" Lloyd alerted everyone to five men alone passing through. They all knew what to do.
. . .
The ninja had stolen the uniforms of the men and followed them into a chamber deeb below the temple. They used Cole's chocolate to imitate the tattoos.
"Stop licking your tattoos." Kai scolded.
"It's chocolate. I can't resist." Cole argued.
"Shh! Just try to fit in." Lloyd said. They all imitated the chant that the others were saying.
Chen was standing at the front on an alter like platform. He banged a staff on the ground. The staff had again, a snake like appearance and a large crystal in the mouth of the snake head.
"Bring out the loser!" Chen announced.
Two men dragged out Karlof into the center of the room.
"Unh! Get hands off Karlof! Karlof wish he never sign up for this. What's chanting for?" The master of metal yelled as the ninja could only watch.
"Uh, they're saying "only one can remain." Like I said, use it or lose it." Chen's staff shot out a cold icy breeze towards Karlof. Soon, a silver stream came rushing out of him and into the staff's crystal. The metal layer surrounding Karlof disappeared.
Karlof dropped to the ground, looking lifeless.
"He's stolen Karlof's power." Kai said.
"And he used Ice. That means he must have already stolen Zane's power too." Cole said.
"What happened to my Metal?" Karlof asked slowly regaining his strength.
"Your Metal? Oh, it's mine now." Chen laughed.
"But now I will let you go."
"Really?" Karlof asked.
"To the factory!" Chen finished
"No, no! Let Karlof go! No, no!" The master without an element yelled as he was dragged away.
"Jay, your face..." Lloyd turned to see.
"My face? All of our faces! The chocolate's melting." Jay said in distress.
"Who are they?" One warrior asked.
"Intruders! Stop them! They must not escape!" Chen yelled.
"Shoot. Well, it's time to go." Morro made his way to where they came in.
"I second that!" Cole ran after, the others not far behind.
While running, Cole accidentally set off a trap, causing a door to close behind the ninja, trapping the warriors behind it.
"A-ha! Yes!" Kai exclaimed. Unfortunately, that wasn't the only thing. Sharp axes started to swing down, getting closer to the ninja.
"Oh, no!"
As they ran, they found a little side pocket to escape in.
"That was close." Cole said. They heard growling.
"That sound...?" Jay said. They looked down to see a purple large snake. Larger than an average serpentine, but smaller than the great devourer, that's for sure.
"That has got to be the second biggest snake I have ever seen!" Kai yelled. The snake charged at them and the ninja jumped their way up.
They crawled their way into a small compartment when Kai's elbow hit a button. Suddenly, they all fell down, back onto Kai's bed. Right where they started.
"Are we?..." Kai sat up.
"Yeah, barely." Lloyd said.
"Did we just- ow..." Cole said.
"No more sneaking around." Jay said.
"From now on, let's just follow the rules."
"Unh! We may not have found Zane, but we found something just as important. This tournament isn't about glory. It's about Chen stealing all of our Elemental Powers." Kai said.
"But why? What is he planning?" Lloyd asked.
"I don't know, but if we're gonna find out and find Zane, we have to play by his rules. Agreed?" Kai said.
"Agreed." Lloyd, Jay and Cole replied.
"Morro." Cole called.
"Morro? Morro!"
"Hm? Yeah." Morro finally replied.
"You good?" Kai asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just shaken up about a few things." Morro replied.
"Good thing we weren't spotted. Thatwas close." Cole said.
"Yeah, too close." Jay said as he knew some of his pants were torn off.
. . .
Clouse pulled of a piece of fabric from the serpent's tooth.
"Hm. Good work, my pet." He stroked the snake.
"Yes, yes, we do know who the impostors are, don't we? Don't worry. They will pay for their actions."
