《Brother of Wind {book 6: Skybound}》chapter 6

"I'd trade all the gold that we have reaped. I'd trade all the gold that we have reaped. I'd trade all the gold that we have reaped. For one more cold night on Misfortune's Keep." The crew sang on a recovered ship
"Heh, so, cap, what's next? Some looting, some pillaging, or all of the above?" Flintlocke asked.
"Sadly, the world has left us behind. Pirates are nothing but a distant memory." Nadakhan said.
"What are you saying, capt'n?" Clancee asked.
"As a rightful captain, I couldn't well leave my crew marooned. But now that you are all safe, tonight, I'll return to my home realm, Djinjago." Nadakhan raised the Realm Crystal.
"But you said you'd never be welcomed back there. What about your father?" Flintlocke asked. It's like everyone has daddy issues in this world.
"Better to live in a world where you are hated than in a world where you are forgotten." Nadakhan nodded.
"Then I go where my captain goes. To Djinjago!" Flintlock exclaimed, the rest of the crew cheering in.
"We're all behind you, Captain."
"T-T-Tell us what it's like. This Djinjago?" Clancee asked.
"It is the most beautiful place you've ever seen." Nadakhan exclaimed while gesturing his hands.
"But why tell you, when I can show you?" He lifted the Realm Crystal and created a portal that the crew followed into.
Yet, when they arrived, Djinjago was falling apart.
"What? What is happening?" Nadakhan frantically looked around.
"Th-Th-This isn't beautiful, Captain." Clancee stated.
"So my son returns in our final hours." The King, Khanjikhan said, sitting on his throne, awaiting the end.
"What plague has begotten our realm?" Nadakhan asked.
"Our sister realm has been destroyed." Khanjikhan said.
"The Cursed Realm is no more?" Nadakhan said, his posture shifting down.
"As you know, the Sixteen Realms are interconnected and the balance affects us all. When one falls, another falls apart. Every action has a consequence." Khanjikhan slowly closed his eyes.
"Yet, this has been happening for eleven years, temporarily stopping before ultimate destruction. The Realms we're trying to connect themselves."
"The Ninja. Father, I now have the power to travel realms. I can save our people. I can save you." Nadakhan displayed the crystal.

"This is our home, son. You might have once turned your back upon it, but I never will." Kanjikhan nodded his head.
"Captain, we need to leave now." Flintlocke advised.
"Take the Sword of Souls." The King said.
"But that sword is meant for-- it's meant for the king."
"Take it. It holds the life force of our forefathers and all its enemies that have fallen from its blade." The King raised up.
"The Ninja will pay for what they have done." Nadakhan shattered the teapot of Tryrahn and transfered Misako, Wu, and Clouse into the sword.
"I feel...I feel their life force."
"Now go, son. Go!" Khanjikhan urged.
"We're running out of time." Flintlocke exclaimed, trying to avoid the fallinh debris.
"What was it you once said?" Khanjikhan asked.
"A captain always goes down with his ship. The balance is in your hands. Avenge us!"
The Misfortune's keep crew fled through the portal of the Realm Crystal. Landing on the deck of the ship, the silence was loud.
"Actions have consequence. Ninjago will pay for what the Ninja have done. This world may have forgotten about us, but when we're through with them, they will know what it feels like to have everything they love stolen from them." Nadakhan threatened, clearly enraged at the destruction of his home.
"But Captain, we're only one ship." Flintlocke said.
"Don't worry, your captain has a plan. Ninjago will see something they have never seen before. But in order for that to happen, I need more souls. And who better than the Ninja." Nadakhan plotted.
. . .
And now, the Ninja are in a hole. Well it's more of a pit in the ground with bars at the top.
"This has to literally be our lowest point. We're in a hole. Rock bottom." Jay sighed.
"On the bright side, if we were never arrested, we never would've talked to Captain Soto." Nya said.
"If only we could use our powers again." Zane stared at the shackles around his hands.
"Could be worse. At least we're in isolation now." Morro lifted his hands up and away from his side.
"What are you doing?" Kai asked.

"Getting ready to break out." Lloyd pulled out a fork that he smuggled ealier.
"A fork? What are we gonna do, eat our way out?" Cole asked.
"I was thinking..." Lloyd picked the lock on hos cuffed and flicked at small amount of his energy at Morro's cuffs, breaking them off.
"Somehing else." Lloyd smirked. The Ninja glanced at each other, raisimg thier hands for Lloyd to break the chains off.
"Great, we got our powers back. Now, how do we get out of this hole?" Jay asked.
"That's the easy part." Morro snapped his fingers.
. . .
Cole levitated up through the bars, thankfully it wasn't Deepstone. Cole used hos strength to completely remove the bars from where it stood. Out came the Ninja with Airjitzu, as quietly as they could. Morro tapped Jay's shoulder and nodded at him to the entrance of the room. Jay placed his hand against the wall sending an electric shock to take out the security cameras. Kai ran down the hall and skidded to a stop infront of Soto's cell. Heating up hand, the bars melted off.
"Come with me, quietly." Kai whispered. Soto got up his leg, replaced with a horn, making squeaky noises as he walks.
"Are you kidding me?" Kai said, annoyed.
Now running down the hall, the guards started to raise suspicion and found the Ninja running down the hall.
"Okay, next step, Zane go!" Morro exclaimed. Zane turned around and thrusted his hand forwards, creating a layer of ice on the ground. As the guards ran, they slipped from the ice. Then, Zame created a wall in the hallway blocking off the way they came.
"Main entrance isn't an option, so to the swers we go." Morro slid to a stop.
"Sewer pipes? Argh, gross." Jay exclaimed.
"I'm not thrilled about it either." Morro sighed.
Lloyd blasted away the covers and they all jumped in. The guards pulled out their flashlights to search as they peaked in. Nya and Morro used thier power to give the group a boost. Nya pushing them with the water, and Morro blasting them forwards with wind.
"Ahoy, there she blows!" Soto exclaimed.
Finally, they're out! The Ninja conducted a prison escape.
"We made it!" Jay exclaimed. Morro bent over
"I never want to make an escape through a sewer again." He said.
"It was a good plan, though." Lloyd complimented.
"Thank you, pajama people." Soto said.
"All right, Soto. We held up our part of the bargain, now you hold up yours. Where's the map?" Kai asked.
"The map's hidden within a lantern. Light its candle and it'll show you the way." Soto said.
"Then where's the lantern? Gosh, all you pirates are so long-winded." Jay sighed.
"Ah, it'd be our nature. We can't refuse a good treasure hunt." Soto narrowed his gaze.
"Where's the lantern, Soto?" Lloyd asked, just wanting an answer.
"That's the tricky part. It's aboard his ship, Misfortune's Keep." Soto said, all mysterious like.
"Ugh, Nadakhan's ship? I thought we said we were trying to avoid that guy." Cole crossed his arms.
"I never said it was going to be easy. Good luck, and may the winds always be in your sails." Soto closed in on Nya.
"Wait, I suddenly remember why you look so familiar." He laughed.
"Oh, my, that be a charm! By word, you're a spitting image of her." Soto turned to leave.
"Of who?" Nya asked. No answer, off goes Soto.
"I need a change of clothes." Morro sighed.
. . .
Back on the Misfortune's keep, the crew was working away.
"Uh he-here's the supplies you requested. More coconuts for the crew." Clancee placed a box down.
"Oh, and you wouldn't believe w-w-what's on the front page." He handed Nadakhan a newspaper with a picture of the Ninja on the front page. Nadakhan stared at Nya.
Inside of a compass, Nadakhan opened it to see a picture of a girl, strikingly similar to Nya.
"Delara. My love."
"Monkey Wretch says the restorations are going to plan." Flintlocke said.
"Good. But will she fly?" Nadakhan closed his compass.
"Oh, she'll fly soon, Captain. She'll fly soon." Flintlocke assured.

Re: Dragonize
After an unexpected turn of events, Drew must now survive in a world full of challenges with life-or-death stakes. Gone are the days when the biggest problems to face were awkward small-talk at physics department luncheons or mountains of lab work; this former physicist is now adrift in an unfamiliar land without any equipment. Now, Drew's only tool (if it can be called that) is a System, which provides constant reminders of all of the things that are still out of reach for a low-level being who's just arrived in a new world. Luckily, Drew has one powerful asset when taking on the challenges of this new world: surviving violent conflict is a lot easier when you have the power of a dragon at your disposal. Still, Drew has always considered violence a last resort. Why turn to fists (or claws) when a bit of quiet consideration might expose a better path forward? Maybe a life of quiet contemplation is still within reach for this former academic researcher. ...Or maybe not. It probably won't be a life of bloodless pacifism. Additional information for those who wish to calibrate their expectations (I'm adding this based on a few comments I received from readers who feel that the story is not what they expected from a dragon-themed story): Re: Dragonize is not a power fantasy -- or at least, it's not intended to be one. Re: Dragonize is a progression fantasy starting with a protagonist who must start at the bottom (or close to it), and work gradually upwards, making incremental progress with plenty of setbacks along the way. The protagonist, as someone coming from the world of academia, tends to be cautious, methodical, and contemplative. As such, expect this story to contain more than a few digressions as the main character takes the time to pontificate on a variety of topics ranging from Newtonian physics and horology to the nature of existence and the ethical dilemmas associated with being an obligate carnivore.
