《3 Stepbrothers》Preparation

I woke up the next moning and my first thought was this, 'Fuck I'm gonna throw up.'

'Wow Shawn, just wow,' my inner voice said.

'What? You're me, you should feel like throwing up too.'

I got up and walked to my closet. Dammit, what the hell am I suppose to wear. Today was my date with Em, and I swear I'm freaking out. Which is so weird, cause you know I've had millions of dates.

'Shawn,' my voice said strictly, 'It is nine a.m. calm down. Damn your making such a big deal about it. God Trent was right you are in lo-'

'Don't!' I cut him off, 'Just don't.'

I grabbed a pair of soccer shorts and the matching top. I mean if you have the top of say the Italian team, your not going to put on the Brazilian team shorts. That's just messed up.

After getting dressed I walked downstairs and into the kitchen.

"So you flip them like this," Suzie asked as she grabbed the pan with both hands and tried to flip the pancake. It ended lopsided and I chuckled. Tori and Cole were sitting at the table with Bill.

Mom being the awesome mom she is, was teaching Suzie how to make a pancake.

"Don't worry Suzie, you'll get it eventually." Mom said.

Suzie sighed, "I guess."

She walked over and joined my brothers, Tori, Bill, and me at the table. Mom smiled and continued baking the pancakes.

"Shawn honey," mom said, "Can you go wake Blake up, the pancakes are almost done."

I groaned, "Why do you always ask me?"

It's true, mom always asks me to wake up Blake. Maybe because she's so used to asking me to wake him up, but still. It'd be nice if she asked Cole for a change. I got up and headed back upstairs and to Blake's room. I burst through the door and had my hands up like they were guns.

"Hands up! Nobody move!" I yelled.

Blake fell out of his bed, the covers covering his nakedness. His covers hung around his lower region while he only showed his chest and legs.

You see, me and Cole always sleep in our boxers, Blake's the only one that sleeps naked in this family.

"What the hell Shawn? You fucking scared the shit out of me!" Blake exclaimed.

I leaned on the door frame laughing my butt off, "You-your face!"

"What do you want?" Blake growled.

"Mom told me to tell you that the pancakes are almost done. So do us all a favor and get some pants on," I waved my hand and walked back downstairs with a smile across my face.

"What did you do?" Cole asked when he saw me.

"I didn't do anything," I lied sitting down at the table.

Mom chuckled and brought us a huge stack of pancakes, "Enjoy."

We all grabbed a pancake and put it on our plates.

"Mmmmm....these are so good," Bill said as he took a bite.

"Better than mine daddy?" Tori asked sweetly.

Suzie laughed, "Let's be honest Tori you can't make a pancake if your life depended on it."

We all laughed at what Suzie said and Tori shrugged. I got up from the table and went to the pantry.

I grabbed the syrup, some sprinkles, the Nutella, chocolate chips, and then went to the fridge to get the whipped cream.

I looked back at everyone with a devious smile, "Hehe."

They all laughed at me and my weirdness.

"Shawn that is a lot of, uhhhh....toppings." Tori said.

I shrugged sitting back down.

"You see I have this theory," I said as I poured some syrup, "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, right? It's suppose to give you energy for the day. Well if you add all these sugary items, then your are set for the day. But if you don't, the day will lag on."

I said all that as I poured the syrup, added the chocolate chips, put a spoonful of Nutella on the side, and shook the whipped cream bottle.

"That," Suzie said, "IS AWESOME!"

I laughed and sparyed the whipped cream on the pancake, "Now for the finale. Pretty please with sprinkles on top."

I sprinkled the sprinkles and now I was ready to eat my glorious pancake.

"Shawn," Cole said looking at the pancake, "I think you went overboard."

I shook my head taking a bite, "Overboard is when I add chocolate syrup with ice cream."

Bill laughed, "You know who you remind me off?"

I shook my head, "Who?"

"Buddy," Bill said, "From the movie Elf. He'd always eat candy and sweets."

I smiled, "Oh yeaaaah."

Everyone nodded in agreement and then Blake came downstairs. He stopped walking when he saw my mountain of whipped cream.

"Again Shawn, really?" he said.

I smiled showing off my teeth that were covered in whipped cream and sprinkles. Blake gagged and sat down.

We all ate breakfast peacefully. We talked and laughed at my sugar problems.

I was always a sugar person. More than my brothers. I guess you could say I have a sweet tooth. Ever since I was little I just always seemed to love candy, I don't know it's weird. Some of my oldest memories were when dad would buy me candy. He'd tell me not to tell anyone and that it was our secret. So I guess when dad died candy had more of a sentimental feeling. In a way, I guess candy reminds me of dad. I loved my father and when mom told us he had leukaemia me and my brothers.....we felt....broken.

After breakfast I headed back to my room to brush my teeth. My teeth felt sticky and sugary and they definitely needed a brush. When I was done I headed downstairs to the basement where I found Cole and Tori. I took a bean bag and sat beside them listening to their argument.

"It did ruin the movie. It ruined the reputation we all thought the Predator had," Tori whined.

"Nuh huh!" Cole shot back, "It made us think that maybe if we have a common enemy with an alien then maybe they will side with us."

"Bullshit," Tori said.

"What are we talking about?" I asked.

"Hey Shawn," Tori waved.

Cole gave me a grin and they went back to arguing. They shot answers after answers, questions after questions. This was starting to sound like a debate and I still didn't know about what.

"WHAT ARE WE TALKING ABOUT!?" I yelled.

"Aliens vs. Predator," Cole muttered.

"Oh," I said leaning back in the bean bag, "That movie is janked up."

"See!" Tori yelled triumphantly.

Cole shook his head and turned to face me, "Why do you think it's janked up?"

"Because the Predator goes all soft and helps the humans. When clearly in the movie he was all badass and trying to kill everyone," I said truthfully.

"In. Your. Face!" Tori yelled standing up and pointing a finger at Cole.

Cole sighed, "I'm never going to hear the end of this."

I laughed. Tori was so going to torture Cole and I was just going to sit back and enjoy. After about half hour of 'I told ya so' and 'I was right and you were wrong' we decided to play some videogames.

"Can I play? Can I play?" Suzie asked at the doorway as Cole put in the game.

We were going to play Tori's favorite game, Apocalypse of the Zombies. It was rated M, for matute, so I wasn't sure it Suzie could watch this. Let alone play.

"Ummm....." I said awkwardly.

"Yeah Sue just grab your remote it upstairs in my room," Tori said.

Suzie smiled and ran back upstairs.

"She's allowed to play this?" Cole asked.

Tori shrugged, "She's amazing at it, and she's always got my back."

"That's not what we mean Tori," I said.

Suzie came back with a pink controller in her hand. i even think it had a heart sticker or somwthing.

"What?" She asked as me and Cole stared at the remote.

"Uhhh....nothing," I turned my attention back to the screen before she could ask anymore questions.

Suzie sat beside Tori and Tori (being player number one) hit the play button. We watched a brief video on how it all started and then it began.

To say the game wasn't fun, would be a total and utter lie. No wonder Tori loves this game so much, it's so freaking awesome! When she told us there was a second one coming out, my first thought was this:

'Shawn! You neeeed to get the second one!'

'Yeah I know, I know. Damn.'

"Hey Shawn," Tori asked.

"Yeah?"

"Don't you have a date today?" She asked.

"Yeah," I checked my phone, "I still have a couple hours."

"Shawn has a girlfriend, Shawn has a girlfriend." Suzie chanted.

I chuckled, "She's not my girlfriend."

"Yet," Cole added.

I mean yeah I wanted Em to be my girlfriend, she was pretty, funny, and nice. She seemed like a person that chills, like me. But she was also has a sense of humor.

"So what's the girl's name?" Tori asked, "Do I know her or is she one of the girls made of plastic?"

"No she's not made out of plastic and yes you do know her-" I started to say.

"What do you mean plastic?" Suzie asked cutting me off.

Shit. I totally forgot she was here. She was playing the game quietly, but she was deadly in the game. She was doing better tha me and Cole. Killing anything in her path with that flamethrower of hers. Nearly killed me twice thinking I as a zombie.

"Fake Sue. We mean they are fake," Tori answered.

"Fake? How?" Suzie asked.

"Like they wear a lot of makeup and they stuff their bras," Tori answered.

"Oh," Suzie chuckled, "Got it."

Suzie is a nine year old kid, and she knows about stuffing bras? What is this? Suzie is way ahead of her age.

"So who's the girl?" Tori asked.

I smiled, "Emily Firton."

Tori stopped playing and looked up at me, "A word?"

She got up grabbing my hand and leading me out the game room. She closee the door after her and turned to face me.

"Shawn. Em is not one of your little toys! She's nice and kind-" Tori whisper yelled until I cut her off.

"I'm not going to play her. I changed, I swear I did. I actually want to try." I said. I knew Emily was one of Tori's friends. I've seen her sit down at the lunch table with her, or talk in the hallways. That's one reason I didn't want to tell Tori. The reason I told her now is because I didn't have much choice. And now Tori is freaking out like I knew she would be, and she thinks I'm going to play Em. But I'm not because honestly I have changed.

Tori stared at me for what seemed hours, until finally she sighed.

"Fine. But if you hurt her..." Tori left it hanging for a minute before heading back into the game room.

I would never hurt Em. She's different than other girls I've dated, well not dated but gone out with. The rest of the morning we just spent in the game room playing videogames. Mom called us up for lunch and we sat around eating sandwiches. Blake came downstairs grabbed a sandwich and headed to the garage. "Where are you going?" Cole asked.

"Places. I'm going to a friend's house," Blake answered, "Later."

Code word for I'm gonna hook up with one of them sluts, I mentally thought.

I shrugged it off and went back to the sandwich. When I finished eating I quickly went to the garage and grabbed the small basket we had. I brought it inside and placed it on the counter. Suzie was in the room along with Tori and Cole and they were watching me.

"What?" I asked.

Suzie got off her chair and walked over to me, "Can I help you with making the picnic basket?"

She bounced on the small balls of her feet and gave me a innocent smile. I chuckled picking her up around the waist and sitting her on the counter. I leaned on the counter facing her and smiled.

"What kind of sandwiches should I make?" I asked her.

"Nutella," she said with no hesitation, "You can never go wrong with Nutella."

I chuckled heading into the pantry and grabbing a bottle of Nutella with a loaf of bread.

"Need help?" Tori asked standing up.

"Yeah want to make the sandwiches?" I asked.

She nodded and walked over grabbing a knife and the bread and Nutella.

"Want me to make some lemonade?" Cole asked.

"That'd be awesome," I said.

Cole got up and headed to the fridge and pantry grabbing everything he needed to make the lemonade. I honestly thought it was extremely nice that everyone was helping out. I smiled to myself and turned my attention back to Suzie.

"So what fruits should I take?" I asked.

"Oranges, grapes, and strawberries." Suzie said.

I nodded grabbing a couple oranges, a rack of grapes, and some strawberries. I washed the strawberries and grapes and put them each into an individual container.

"Anything else?" I asked.

"Bread," Tori said, "All that stale bread you have. Take it and feed it to the ducks. You are going to the duck park right?"

"Yes I'm going to the duck park." The duck park sounds exactly like what it is. It's a nice park with a view of the lake and it has ducks and geese that run around. And bringing the bread is a great idea. Everyone that usually goes, goes so they can feed the ducks and geese. My favorite thing about the duck park is when it's spring. The trees all have the flowers and you can see the little ducklings swimming around the lake.

"Anything else?" I asked grabbing the stale bread.

"You're forgetting the blanket," Cole said.

"You can't forget the blanket," Suzie added. She hoped off the table and ran upstairs. When she came back she had a enormous blanket with her. She handed it to me and I nodded my head in thanks.

"So you got the sandwiches, drinks, fruits, bread, basket, and blanket." Tori said, "You're all good to go."

I smiled at her and then looked at everyone else, "Thanks guys."

"Anything for a brother," Cole said.

"Have fun," Suzie added.

I looked up at Tori who was staring at me. She shrugged.

"Eh what the heck," She said with a smile, "Have fun. And don't make a fool of yourself."

I rolled my eyes, "I highly doubt that's possible."

We all laughed and I grabbed the basket heading towards the garage.

"Wait!" Suzie yelled. I stopped in my tracks and turned around.

"Yeah?" I asked.

"Don't you want to change clothes first?" She asked.

I looked down at my soccer uniform. I had been stressing about what to wear for the date this morning and now I realize that I was about to walk out the door like this. I spent the morning thinking about this and now when it was time to go I just remember because I nine year old girl just told me.

Wow Shawn, just wow.

I nodded and walked past everyone and upstairs to my room. I entered the room and went striaght to my closet. Finally I decided on going with a blue stripped polo and some jeans. My shoes were just going to be some regular Nikes and that was ok. I headed back downstairs and grabbed the blanket and basket that I had left on the counter. Tori, Cole, and Suzie were sitting around the table playing Uno.

"See you look much better," Tori said looking up from her deck of cards.

"Yes at least now you don't look like such a mess," Cole added. I rolled my eyes.

"Good thing I saw it before you left," Suzie said.

I smirked at her and nodded, "Thank you Suzie."

She smiled, "Anytime. Now go away. Oh and...Uno!"

She yelled placing a card on the deck. I laughed while Tori and Cole groaned. I went straight to the garage and into my car. I pulled out and headed for the park. If I'm lucky, we'll find a nice spot and I'll be there before Em arrives.
