The Next Night:
The inky black colour spread across the sky. The night calmed down the racing hearts of the unknown lovers, Shahveer and Sahar. She stared out of the window from the living room towards him. The way he was talking with someone on his phone made her heartbeat peaceful.
She was waiting for Izhaan to get her pen drive. Walking out of the estate, she went towards Shahveer. "Is it alright if you stand in this frosty weather?" She questioned. Without turning around he knew who was there. He giggled, "It's quite warm today."
He glanced towards her. Peace; peaceful pallor was spread across her divine and splendid beauty. His heart knows that this enchanting person can never be his. Sahar was the first girl he loved so much. Never in his life, he thought that he would love a girl but when he fell, she was already engaged.
"By the way, how did you decide to spare me sometime after leaving your papa inside?"
Sahar couldn't help but chuckled heartily, looking at him. She laughed continuously. He gazed at her when she laughed. The sound of her laugh made his heart fall for her more. The moon witnessed it all. The way they were falling for each other but destiny's plans is invisible and mysterious.
"What?" He chuckled, "Why are you laughing like that?"
"Your Taaya abbu told you that I started calling him Papa?" She asked. He shook his head realising, "Yes of course. He never hides anything from me."
"How is Rayed?" She asked. "He is fine. Just busy in his life and investigation of her sister's murder."
She nodded, she got to know about Rayed's sister Falak and saw her picture. "The CCTV footage of the hotel where it is claimed that she committed suicide is morphed. They said they have a camera fixed on the lobby of a suite. So they have stolen it and replaced it with some other."
Sahar nodded. "I hope they find the murderer soon."
"You are here? How?"
Sahar smiled, "I am waiting for my pen drive since yesterday. Izhaan was busy, he is coming to give me the pen drive."
Shahveer nodded. He ignored the urge to stretch in his smile but knowingly his heart pained for the reality, "When have you decided to get married with Izhaan?"
On the other side, Sahar felt sad that he was fine with her marrying Izhaan. She sighed before speaking, "We haven't decided anything yet. Izhaan was talking about getting married in December."
"It's September now. There are hardly 3 and half months left," Shahveer stated staring at her eyes. She felt an itching sensation ever since she saw Shahveer and Miraal together. Without thinking twice she asked, "Are you and Miraal together in a relationship?"
Shahveer glanced at her and smiled, "What do you think?" Her heart skipped a beat when she saw him smiling when she talked about Miraal. She knew that he was Miraal's
"You guys make a nice pair," She said with no emotion lingering on her fetching face. He chuckled, "No Sahar. Miraal and I are two different personalities. Even though I know that she has a liking for me but we are two different poles. We can never be together. She is just a good friend and cousin of mine but we can never be together."

"Why so?" She questioned with curiosity digging in her eyes. "Miraal is a practical person. She can never collide with my visionary, fantasist and vintage world. She will never accept my liking whereas I can not accept hers. I like religious things where she just looks at it as a mere necessity. She is one stubborn girl who can never adjust according to others. But I don't know why I don't have any type of feelings for her. Alas, She is not type."
Sahar nodded. A part of her felt divine happiness for some reason. "Why did you choose Izhaan?" He asked. She chuckled, "Izhaan liked me and told Hashir Mamu about it. Without wasting any time, Mamu asked my proposal Ammi. My mother was alone and her health was deteriorating often. She thought no one could keep me as happy as Izhaan will because he and I have been together since our childhood. He is a nice person. He understands me well, so I just let destiny decide my future. I never had a choice, Shahveer."
Shahveer glanced up at her with hope somewhere in his eyes. Their eyes stared at each other with immense love and restlessness. They knew they wanted to be together but why was it so late. Shahveer could not help but ask, "If you had a choice now, will you marry him Sahar?"
The world stopped around them. The adrenaline rushed through her veins, making the pain in her heart slurry. She didn't know what to answer. Her heart screamed to say a 'No' but her mind didn't process anything. Her lips didn't support her to say anything. She kept thinking, looking at his charcoal eyes. He was everything she dreamt of.
Whereas for him, he knew he loved her. He just wanted to know her choice. 'What if it's a no?' was the only hope for him. His ears begged to hear a no from her. Her ebony eyes made his heart beat faster.
The delusional world of the passionate imaginary lovers came to an end when they heard the sound of a car coming inside the gates of the mansion. They looked towards the car. Sahar knew it was Izhaan. He stopped the car a little away from the entrance and got out of it. Sahar went towards him. His innocent and handsome face was fatigued. A single stroke of hair fell from his head to his eyebrows and the bistered, swarthy and messy hair gave a compliment to his fair complexed face.
She greeted him, "Assalamu alaikum Izhaan!"
"Walaikum assalam! Feels great to see you after so many days," Izhaan said making her smile with him. He took her pen drive from the car and handed it over to her. "This one right?"
Sahar took the pen drive and it felt new, kind of different. In a rush, Sahar nodded. "Alright. When are you coming? Your Nani Ammi misses you a lot."
"I am planning to come for a visit at the weekend. Come inside Izhaan," she called but he denied, "No Sahar. I came here from my office and I am tired. I'll go home."
"It's fine Izhaan. Come in for a while." He was about to deny when Shahveer came, "I hope I am disturbing you guys but come inside you two."

"Some other day, Shahveer. I need to go now," Izhaan was about to bid them goodbye when Shahveer said, "The to be the son-in-law of this house came till here and we didn't welcome him. How can this happen? Taaya abbu will not leave me if I let you escape from here."
Izhaan passed him a drained smile, "It's fine Shahveer. I will come in once I am the son-in-law of this house."
Even though Shahveer initiated by saying about Izhaan being the son-in-law, it hurt him as much as it pleased Izhaan. Sahar glanced at the both of them before Izhaan bid them goodbye, driving out from the driveway towards the gate and going out of the arena.
Shahveer and Sahar stood awkwardly staring at each other because of the tension Izhaan created. The chaos in her heart was taking her somewhere she wasn't expecting and didn't want to. She spoke, "Shall we go inside?"
"I am waiting for Taaya abbu. He said he wanted to talk about something related to business. We usually have a walk at this time. You can go. I'll wait for him," Shahveer stated. She started walking towards the entrance when he called her again, "Sahar?" She turned quickly as if she was expecting him to call her. "Miraal is coming in a while. Meesha, Miraal and I are going out for dinner. You wanna join?"
She knew she will feel like an intruder so she declined, "No, it's fine Shahveer."
"Oh come on, Sahar! We will have fun. It'd be good, trust me."
'I want to trust you so much.' her subconscious mocked. She smiled inwardly but covered it up saying, "I have some work, Shahveer. I am tired too. I will join you guys some other time." Shahveer nodded and Sahar walked in after glancing at him for one last time.
She sat in her bed with her laptop in the front. Tapping her fingers in a pace at the keyboard, she waited for a while as the file opened on her laptop. Her eyebrows knitted together when she noticed a video in the folder of pen drive. Her pen drive contained only documents related to her work, this video was an exception.
"Izhaan yaar! You exchanged it with yours!" She yelled irritated. She needed her pen drive at all costs because the files in it were important. She sighed lazily before opening the video beating her curiosity.
A silhouette of a man standing could be seen from behind. She knitted her eyebrows together looking at the man. He seemed familiar. He was about to go when a girl from behind jumped beside him, begging him about something. Even she looked familiar. She looked closer at the side of her face and she remembered Falak?
Yes, It was Falak!
She gasped when actuality hit her. Sahar's attention shifted towards the man standing tall, trying to push Falak away from him. She begged him about something when he pushed her away, making her fall towards the tea-table. Falak's head hit the corner of the table which made her unconscious.
Sahar's eyes filled with tears when she saw Falak getting unconscious. With rage, she glanced towards the man who stood agitated himself that Falak fell.
Analytical curiosity began raging in him which could be seen through his body language. He turned around and rushed towards Falak. Sahar's heart dropped when she looked at the person.
Izhaan Hashir Ali, her fiancé.
Izhaan checked her pulse because her breathing was inappropriate. Sahar's palm found its way towards her lips as she muffled her cries, trying to believe what she was seeing. Izhaan, her fiancé killed a person, a girl who was a sister, a single sister of her brother Rayed who was left alone.
"What in the world is he doing?" She hiccuped looking at the video. He shook her head, trying to make her conscious but everything was in vain as she hit her head hard, harder to be precise.
Shocked when the reality hit him, she was hit badly. He took her in his arms, rushing towards the door as he saw her head bleeding when all of a sudden Falak said something to him which made him stop at the door. He tried to open the door when it was stuck but Falak smiled. A smile that made her baffled. Sahar cried looking at the sweet soul dying that's when the video stopped. Her heart skipped a beat when she realised,
Izhaan Hashir Ali killed Falak Atif.
She wiped her tears which fell on the laptop's keypad like palid diaphanous pearls and quickly transferred the video to her laptop following copied by the chip. She took her sling bag, keeping her phone, that pen drive and took her laptop with her as she strode out towards Meesha's room. She knocked twice before she heard a faint come in.
Opening the door, she peeked at the person seated in the bed. "You need something, buddy?" Meesha asked glancing at Sahar from her iPad.
"Actually yes! I need to give you something," Sahar stated. She stood in front of her and handed her a chip that contained the video which would turn Izhaan's life up and down.
"Keep this chip with you. If whenever something or anything goes wrong in my absence, look in the file inside the chip alright?" With knitted brows, Meesha stared at her confused.
"What's wrong Sahar?"
She sighed before plastering a forced smile that anyone could identify. "Nothing is. Don't worry about it. Just do as I say ok?"
Meesha nodded, glancing at the raven chip resting in her palms. Sahar took a deep breath before coming out of the room and called Izhaan. Telling him that she needed to talk about something in an ice cream parlour beside a huge restaurant.
She needed answers to the questions that were raised in her heart, gripping on to the sweetness of her soul. Making her as restless as she was earlier.
