《Fixing Each Other》Chapter 20

I stood there as she took a step back and looked towards the door at the people who had just interrupted our moment; I was only slightly annoyed.
"I'll come find you after I'm ready." She mumbled softly. I nodded, a soft smile on my face. I was debating on kissing her properly but decided against it since we had an audience instead I placed a kiss on her cheek causing her to blush.
"Sorry Romeo but you have to leave so we can beautify my sister." Came her sister's sassed response. I grinned, shaking my head at them. Before I turned to leave. I quickly closed the door behind me.
I jogged down the stairs and opened the basement door. I flicked on the light and grinned. There was a gym down here that I wasn't sure who knew about, but it allows me to train privately so my competition wouldn't figure out my tactics. I shrugged off my shirt, placing it away from me. I then began working on hitting the punching bag.
My fists were hitting the bag violently, not pausing to catch a breath. I steeped to the side and sent out a punch to the bag once and then again just as hard. The clashing of the chain was all that you could hear. That and my grunts as I beat the bag. A thick sweat covered my body as I worked out dripping down my forehead.
After a while I grew tired and knew I needed to rest up before the trials so I shoved my shirt on, it stuck to my body due to the sweat I felt icky and I needed to shower. So that's what I did. After I had I got dressed in loose clothing as now it was time for my initiation. I took the elevator instead of the stairs, wanting to preserve my energy. It dinged as I reached the ground floor. Stepping out, I was shocked to see my brother standing amongst the sea of bodies. I walked up to him and tapped him on the shoulder. He looked happy to see me. If only I could say the same. I nodded towards the back garden and he followed me out. He looked better than the last time he was here.
Once we were in a place, we could talk I leant against the wall with a stormy expression.
"Hey." He said.
"Hey."
"So I know you hate me and everything but I wanted to see you." He confessed causing me to cock my head to the side in a confused manner.
"What's up?" I asked gruffly.
"I miss you. I miss my brother. My best friend." He blurted out, causing my eyes to widen. Truthfully I missed him too, I missed being his brother, his friend. I didn't feel the dark hatred towards him anymore. I felt his betrayal still, and I was still angry at him, but I couldn't quite bring myself to forgive him. None the less, I smiled slightly.

"I miss you too but I cannot forgive you. Not yet, I need time to heal, to put this behind me. I'm not going to keep trying to kill you so you can relax." I said, and he smiled brightly at me as I fought down a smile of my own. I glanced behind him and saw Bridget leading the crowed outside as if sending my gaze she turned to me and my jaw dropped. She looked gorgeous. She noticed my brother and panic immediately crossed her features. I shook my head.
"So what now?" I asked, blowing the air from my cheeks. He sighed.
"Well, I thought I'd stay to watch you kick everyone's ass." He joked, and I chuckled.
I stuck out my hand for him to shake. He looked at it oddly before rolling his eyes. He grabbed it and pulled me into him, clapping me on the back. I stood awkwardly for a moment before I tapped his back a few times. He pulled back. I nodded.
"Come with me. I want to introduce you to someone." I mumbled walking away. I saw her standing by the stage she was about to step on when she saw me and Jeremiah approaching.
"Seth would you kick us off?" She asked, and he nodded. She walked over to us with a questioning gaze. I had just now realised she's wearing my shirt. I smirked at her. Once she was close enough, I stood next to her, placing my hand on her back.
"Jeremiah meet Bridget. She's my mate." I said, and he recoiled in shock. He glanced between the two of us, lost on what to say. I rolled my eyes at him.
"Dude. Say hello."
He cleared his throat and stuck out his hand
"Hi nice to meet you." He said politely.
She smiled sweetly at him before she gripped his hand roughly and squeezed it tightly until I heard it crack. Jeremiah's face filled with pain as he grunted in response.
"You hurt him again and he'll be the least of your worries." She growled lowly. Before she let go and again smiled sweetly, "nice to meet you under better circumstances."
I stared at her wide eyed. She looked so hot right now I wanted nothing more than to kiss her right here in front of everyone, but I know she wanted to wait to announce it. So instead I bit my lip and looked at her heatedly.
She turned back to look if anyone was looking and nobody was, so she kissed me on the cheek before skipping off back to the stage.
"Fuck that hurt." He said gritting his teeth as he snapped his hand back into place. He clenched and unclenched his fist a few times before he looked at me, though I was still staring at Bridget. She took over and began to explain the rules.

"Could you want her any harder right now?" Jeremiah smirked I turned to him with a scowl on my face.
"Shut up." I growled before we took our seats near the back of the makeshift assembly hall.
"So it's quite simple you will be ranked on your skill as well as your points. You will each fight a minimum of five times. If you win, you get 10 points, draw 5 and 2 points if you lose." She paused and pointed to the screen behind her it had all the names of everyone who would be fighting "this will rank your scores anyone below the red line is cut and you will be forced to move to another pack. I do not tolerate weak links, that's how packs fall. Now I'm sorry to say that twenty of you wolves will not be here at the end of the night. So I suggest you get your affairs in order. You will all be called up eventually there will be five fights going at a time and it will rotate in a clockwise order and then once the results are in you will know your place. That is all. Good luck. Seth line them up." She added. I was too busy staring at her to fully comprehend what she had just said, though I got the hang of it once it had starred.
I stood on the matts waiting for my first opponent. He stepped up to the matt and stood in his section. His face gave nothing away as he concentrated on my stance.
"Donte." He said, and I nodded.
"Jerome." I replied.
We were told to go, and he wasted no time running at me. His fist connected with my stomach momentarily winding me, I sent a jab to his face. He doubled over, but he got back up. Good for him.
The fight went on until he tapped out. I immediately stopped hitting and got up I pulled him up too he nodded a thanks.
"You're good, man." He said, wincing slowly. I shot him an awkward smile as he shook off his pain.
A new contender stepped up to the matt, and we introduced ourselves before the fighting began. This guy was quicker than the last he easily dodged my attacks I was begging to get annoyed I faked left and he dodged right walking straight into a hard right hook. He dropped to the floor, his body twitching before he stopped moving all together. I called Bridget over and she and Jeremiah helped him up before he got taken to the triage tent. Bridget shot me an amused look as she went off. I grinned at her before I grabbed my water, taking a well-deserved drink. Once I had collected myself I signalised to the score guy to send over another guy. He did.
This guy was big. Packed with muscle and his shaved head made him look even more menacing. I shook out my limbs before turning to him.
"Lost any?" I asked, and he scoffed shaking his head at me "well looks like there is a first time for everything." I smirked at his moody expression.
We were given the go ahead. I struck first this time sending a hard and fast jab to the throat. He gasped and began coughing, trying to breathe without sputtering. He punched me in the face and I fell to my knees but I caught myself before I hit the matt he went to kick me but I rolled out of the way I then swooped my leg out into the back of his leg sweeping him off his feet he came crashing onto the matt landing on his shoulder hard he cried out in pain but I wasn't finished. I shrugged off my shirt; the material was clinging to my arms making it harder to hit. I punched the guy in his face a total of five times before he finally tapped out. I pulled him up and he stormed away angrily.
I fought three more people, and I won all but one where we tied because we ran out of time.
"Okay!! Everyone stop." Bridget yelled. The sun had begun to set, painting the sky at various colours. It was quite beautiful, actually.
"Your scores are up. The top four will fight each other securing their place in the pack, the top two will continue as higher ranked officers."
I quickly made my way over to the bored, I scanned over the names until I saw mine.
10. Courbet
9. Sierra
8. Thomas
7. Jaydon
6. Ria
5. Elijah
4. Donte
3. Samuel
2. Reagan
1. Jerome
Jeremiah clapped me on the back, "well done, brother." He cheered, I couldn't hold back the grin, I glanced at Bridget and too was smiling at me. I took off my shirt and handed it to my brother.
"Hold this for me whilst I go confirm my place." I boasted, grinning at him. He laughed before he took it. This time the fight would take place on the stage. I was up second after Donte and Reagan fought. I was fighting Samuel.
Bridget walked up to me and grinned.
"You did well." She complimented me as I gave her a pointed stare.
"Did you ever doubt I wouldn't?" I mused, raising a brow. She laughed and shook her head.
"Not for a second."
We watched as the fight went on. It was a close call but Donte had managed to get an amazing uppercut completely throwing Reagan off his game and he won because of it. Soon enough it was my turn. I stretched out my limbs and jogged to the stage.
