《My Arranged Shaadi (Complete)》Chapter 23- Something that shouldn't have happened

The second he uttered that announcement from his mouth which didn't even include Nishtha's name, Nishtha's grip on my hand loosened.
She started to tremble. Tears were visible in her eyes. I shook her a bit.
"Nishtha..." I tried to call her to gain a response from her. But she just looked at me and ran out of the hall. I ran behind her. I knew everyone was looking at us, but I didn't care.
We reached the parking lot.
"Nishtha..." I kept calling her and she finally turned.
"LEAVE ME ALONE PARAS!" She shouted. Her eyes were blood red. She was crying. I decided it was better to keep my distance.
Then she did something I didn't expect at all. She went and sat in a car, my car. Then I remembered, I had given my keys to her.Everything was happening so fast, she sat in my car and drove off at a speed of probably 120 km/h.
"Shit..." I said to myself. I immediately called my bodyguards and asked them to chase her. They were chasing her.
"Sir we can see your car." I heard one of the men say.
"Good now don't let her go out of your sight." I ordered them and went to borrow someone else's car. My bodyguards were on the phone all along.
Suddenly, I heard a loud thud. It was a really loud sound and it came, from the phone.
"What happened?" I asked but no one answered.
"I ASKED WHAT HAPPENED !" I roared.
"S...ir ... your car got hit by a truck..." The man said. And I ... I went numb. I fell on the ground on my knees. A tear slipped down my eye. Nishtha... please be okay. I should have stopped her, I should have held her hand and stopped her.
"Sir... sir are you there ???!" I heard the voice from the phone.
"Yea..h I am..." I said. I was barely able to speak, my voice was breaking. How could I fucking let this happen !!!?
"The ambulance is here, we are taking ma'am to Apollo hospital." One of my bodyguards said.
"I'm coming." I said and hung up. Nishtha you have to live, you can't leave me like this! Don't you dare leave all of us! My tears weren't stopping. I reached the hospital. I ran inside.

"Where is Nishtha Singhania... I'm her husband." I said to the receptionist.
"Nishtha Singhania... she's in the ICU on 3rd floor." She said and I rushed to the lift. The second I reached the third floor, I saw the bodyguards sitting there.
"Sir, the doctors are examining her right now..." One of them said looking at the floor.
"Is she alright?" I asked really hoping to hear a positive answer.
"We don't know that yet sir..." The other answered.
"BLOODY HELL!" I shouted banging my fist on the wall.
"Sir, please maintain silence. This is a hospital." A nurse came to me and said and I just nodded apologetically. After a while, both my and Nishtha's parents arrived. The second I saw her father, my blood started boiling. I couldn't control my anger.
I stood up and held that man's collar.
"This is all your fault. How could you do that to your own daughter!" I hissed.
"Paras leave him, I said leave him!" My father said and pushed me away.
"Why are you all here? To show your fake sympathy? If anything happens... I'll screw you up! Each one of you. None of you cared about her when she was fine, breathing, in front of us. Now why the fuck are you here?" I said.
"Paras, beta please calm down. Nishtha will be fine." My mother said caressing my shoulder. And I just hugged her. After a while, a doctor came out of the ICU.
"Nishtha Singhania's family?" He asked.
"Yeah, I'm her husband." I said quickly.
"Well, she has a severe injury on her head and a fracture in her left arm. And..." He paused.
"And what doctor?" I asked impatiently.
"I'm sorry Mr. Singhania, your wife had a miscarriage." He said. Miscarriage? She was pregnant!
"You might not even be knowing about the pregnancy because she was just 2 weeks pregnant." He said and I just sat on the bench. That's what she wanted to talk to me about this evening. I'm such a stupid.
"When will she wake up doctor?" My father asked the doctor.
"Well, we have given the medicines. She might wake up in 12 hours or so..." The doctor said. "You all should thank god that she didn't go into coma, or else, she could have even lost her life." The doctor added and left.

I was devastated. I was sitting on a bench in the hospital ground, staring into space. I hadn't eaten anything and sleep was far away from me. Just then a police officer approached me.
"Mr. Singhania, we need to talk to you." He said and I nodded.
"We suspect that this wasn't an accident." He said and I was confused.
"What are you trying to say officer?" I said narrowing my brows.
"We think that it was a well planned attempt to murder. I want to ask you, is there any specific enemy of yours who might do this?" He asked. SHIT.
"Vineet Verma, he stole the information from our company some years back and went to jail. He is out on bail right now! It must be him !" I said as realization struck me.
"Okay sir, we'll look into this matter. We'll need your co-operation for that." He said.
"I'll do anything sir. Just find the criminal!" I pleaded him. He nodded and left.
I went inside. My parents and Nishtha's mother had left. Nishtha's father and brother stayed. I couldn't even look at that man, I was afraid I would kill him. I was walking in the corridor, when I saw a small temple of lord Ganesha.
Everyone always thought I was an atheist but to be honest I wasn't one. I believed in God. I believed that there is a power beyond science which could make everything right. I just went there and joined my hands and prayed.
I prayed for my wife, I prayed for her life. I just wanted her to be fine, nothing else. I didn't want that fucking company at the cost of the woman I loved the most in the world. I wasn't so cruel.
It was the longest and darkest night of my life. I didn't swallow even a single morsel of food, because I couldn't.
"She'll be fine..." Nishtha's brother said. Just then a woman came running to me.
"Where is Nishtha???" She shouted with tears in her eyes. Oh, she was Anvita, her best friend. Crying had made my vision blurry, that's why I couldn't recognize her from a distance.
"She is in the ICU, she'll wake up in 10 hours from now or so..." My brother in law answered. Anvita looked really angry too. She went straight to Nishtha's father.
"What wrong did she ever do to you to deserve this! She has worked day and night for your bloody company! She sacrificed all of her dreams, you don't know how desperately she wanted to become a song writer! You took it all away from her. The one this, one thing she wanted now was to become the CEO of your company, for which she worked her ass off! You took it away from her too...." She said and burst into tears. And Nishtha's father just kept looking at the floor.
I was heart broken after hearing all that. How crueler can these people be? I was trying to control my anger, because if I start now, nobody would be able to stop me and I would rip this man's throat apart.
I just switched my phone on when I got a news feed notification.
'BREAKING NEWS: THE OBEROIs HAND OVER THEIR COMPANY TO THE SINGHANIAs'
'NISHTHA SINGHANIA RUNS AWAY FROM THE PARTY. WASN'T SHE HAPPY FOR HER HUSBAND'
'NISHTHA SINGHANIA ACTED CARELESSLY AT THE OFFICIAL PARTY'
'NISHTHA SINGHANIA MET AN ACCIDENT WHILE RASH DRIVING'
What was all these non sense? It just made me more angry! I called my P.A. and asked her to take care of the press. I didn't want these people to defame my wife.
It was morning.
"Nishtha Singhania is back to consciousness. You all can meet her one by one." The doctor said and I was the happiest person present there. I looked at Anvita and Nishtha's brother, who gestured me to go ahead.
I went inside the ward and there she was lying on the bed, looking really weak. She had bandages all around her body. I went a bit nearer with trembling feet. She looked at me with her beautiful eyes. I was so happy that she was fine.
I sat beside her on the bed. I was caressing her forehead and she was watching every movement of mine very carefully.
"I love you babe. Don't ever leave me please..." I said taking her hand in mine.
"But... who are you?" She asked, and my whole world fell apart.
