___1st Person POV_____
Scurrying down the halls of the large building, I kept the clipboard of papers close to my chest as I didn't want anything to fly away. The papers were too important to loose, and I didn't have time to stop and pick them up.
Making my way across the building, my chest moving with each heavy breath, I finally reached the office I needed to be at. Letting out a sigh of relief, I twisted my wrist, looking down at my watch to see I was about 5 minutes early: 11:55. I did a little cheer as I was proud of myself to make it on time to the meeting.
But, my little cheer didn't last long as the door of the office swing open and into my face. Letting a groan fall from me, I reached a hand up to my face to caudle it as it felt like I had just broken my nose. Knowing it wasn't broken, I looked through the separation of my fingers, only to spot my boss's very notable red shoes. Feeling a rush of anxiety hit me, I looked up to see a fuming tomato red man staring at me like normally.
Cracking a small anxious smile, I removed my hand from my face as I held the clipboard out for him,
"Sir, I'm so glad I'm here early, I have a few qu-"
"No. You're late." He growled out, which caused me to freeze up,
"....What?" I glanced back down to my watch: 11:57. Raising an eyebrow, I glanced up, "I'm 3 minutes early though?"
He seemed to glare at me hard for that comment as he shook his head,
"No way in hell are you early. The meeting started at 11:30," he said, which instantly caused my smile to drop as I looked down at the clipboard in disappointment,
"Of course it was..." I whispered out as I stared at the board.
I could hear a few footsteps emerge out of the room, and soon there was none. Feel the cold stare still on me, I shivered, but as I heard a deep sigh come from him, I looked up. He wasn't as red anymore as he looked at me rather defeated as he grabbed at the clipboard,
"Just don't worry about the meetings. Do you have everything here that I need?"
"Should be, unless I screwed that up too," I answered back realistically. That seemed to earn a small chuckle from the older fellow as he flipped through the papers, giving a small nod with each word he read. He would grumble something every few seconds or so before looking up to me with his cold eyes again,
"You're free to go," he said in his cold tone, which signalled me to get the hell out of there.
Nodding to him and apologising as well, I turned around and began to walk back to my designated work area. But before I did, I decided that I was a bit thirsty.
Walking down the hall, I gave a smile and small 'hello' to those I passed before making my way towards the break room. I knew I wasn't on break, but it was the only area with a vending machine there, so it was my only option. Either that or order some Starbucks off of Uber Eats, but I don't think they'd allow them to get into the building to deliver it so... Vending machine it is.

Walking a bit more down the hall, I eventually reached the room, where I could overhear some small laughter come from. Opening the door, I glanced around to see a few of the Heros my office worked with all chatting with one another at the break table. Giving them a small wave and smile, I spotted the vending machines in the corner.
Making my way over to my goal, I could hear little bits and pieces of the heros conversation as I scanned the machine. Seeing something that spiked my interest, I pulled out my wallet from my pocket before inserting and going for my drink,
"I'm pretty sure that's Ingenium's little boy toy," I could hear one hero whisper, which made me tense a bit at the mention of my boyfriend.
Of course they're gossiping about me and him, why wouldn't heros want to start drama or spread crap around,
"Boy toy? You think he's just playing him?" Another asked.
With this, I let out a sigh as I tried to quickly retrieve the drink from within the vending machine. Inserting my dollar before clicking the buttons and waiting. But, just like my luck for today, the drink got stop. I don't know how, but the machine just froze.
Looking at it with pure pain and anger in my eyes, I glared at the machine and silently cursed at it before letting out a sigh. Banging my hand a little on it, I listened in still to the conversation,
"He's definitely got to be playing with him. The guy's not even a hero,"
"I don't think Ingenium could play with a guy, let alone get with them. I call bullsh*t on this one," another voice piped up.
At this moment, I had a rush of disappointment and frustration as I listened in on them and waited for my drink. How could they just talk crap like that so freely? And in front of me!? I understand they were 'trying' to whisper and all, but I could still easily hear them. It angered me. But, felt a bit better as I brought my fist back up and then landed it on the machine, this time causing the machine to start working again.
Smiling to myself, I bent down and grabbed my drink before hurrying out of the room. Feeling satisfied with my escape, I made my way back down to my office area, ready to end the early day already.
________Time Skip_________
Finally. The end of this awful day.
Smiling to myself, I almost skipped out the door of the agency, before looking back and forth the sidewalk. I was a bit surprised to see there weren't that many people out, but at the same time it was almost 5 o'clock.
Feeling happy with the day, I walked over towards the bus stop. Since I couldn't take my car to work this morning as it decided to not start, I took the bus instead. Waiting for it here, I took a seat on the bench before pulling out my phone. Seeing I had no messages or calls, I felt disappointed. Usually Iida would text me throughout the day. It was unusual for him to go silent, so now I was a bit worried.
Taking in a deep breath though, I shook off the feeling, trying to not overwhelm myself. I knew he was going to be fine. He probably just got caught up in hero stuff that he couldn't shoot me a text, which is fine. It happens... I think.

Letting out a sigh, I clicked my phone off before putting it back into my pocket and staring ahead. Listening to the people walking on by along with the cars, I tried to focus on that. The sounds of the city: footsteps, cars, talking, advertisements on buildings, and even small creatures. It was nice. It was all fine. It was going to be fine.
Sitting back on the bench, I watched each car go by as I waited for the bus, by myself still. Looking up and down the road, I turned to see a bit vehicle coming towards me. Cheering silently to myself, I stood from the bench, making sure I had my little bag of stuff with me. I didn't have any paperwork to do at home, so I always brought a bag and not a briefcase. Plus, briefcases look rather suspicious when you're not dressed in a suit, which I didn't dress in.
Standing there on the side, I waited for the bus to stop, but just before it did, the car in front of it passed on by me. And when it did, the most awful thing that could happen happened. As it drove by, a big splash of a puddle came up at me and completely hit the whole bottom half of my outfit.
Letting out a string of curses, I marched onto the bus when it stopped and waited to go home this time.
___Time Skip Again_______
Walking into the shared apartment, I let out a sigh. Tossing my things off to the side, I scanned around, seeing there was no sign of anyone. This seemed to worry me as Iida tends to get home before me.
Letting out a bit of a yell, I slipped off my soaked shoes before carefully making my way towards the bathroom. Stripping out of the water soaked clothes, I tossed them into the tub, making sure they were spread out. Letting my head drop, I walked towards the bedroom, needing new clothes now.
Feeling myself growing ever so tired both sleep wise and mentally, I threw on some comfortable warm clothes before jumping onto the bed. Spreading out my entire body onto the bed so I was almost hugging the bed, I let out a groan into the pillow,
"Today was too long!!" I yelled out before turning my head to the side, spotting the remote.
Reaching out to it in a zombie like manner, I grabbed onto it and clicked the TV on. Seeing it was last left on the history channel, I flipped it through before landing on some sort of cartoon channel. Leaving it on an old show that would just play for background noise, I let myself dig into the bed, hiding under the multiple blankets and plushies that I had.
Giving one a hug, I let my eyes begin to fall shut as I let out a deep breath. I just wanted to sleep the day away. I was so tired and done with all the crap.
I swear, sometimes I'm convinced my quirk is being unlucky and not summoning animals. More crap happens to me than anyone else that I'm convinced. AND it's the most cliche stuff too!!
"Whatever... I'll just be unlucky," I whispered out to nobody in particular.
But just then as I did I heard the sound of the front door opening. Not bothering to get up or say anything, I continued to lay there before hearing footsteps walk about. The sound of a jingling suit caught my attention, which caused me to open one eye to peek at the door, seeing Iida walk in with his hero costume on,
"Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you," he apologized, but I just shrugged as I rolled over, facing him,
"It's fine. Not like I could sleep anyways," I answered as I watched him start to remove the costume, "So how was your day?"
"It was adequate. There were multiple mini threats on opposite sides of the city today, so I was running around quite tremendously," he was halfway out of his costume already, which was impressive. I smiled at him a bit as I nodded,
"Sounds like a busy day,"
"Very," he gave a smile back to me, "So how was work for you?"
I sat there for a second, unsure as to whether or not I should be truthful. I mean, he day was busier than mine, and was probably worse than mine, so why tell him the truth? I'm only trying to turn the attention towards myself-
"I assume it didn't go that well?" Be asked and I sighed, nodding,
"How could you tell?"
"Because I know that face of yours, you're overthinking," he concluded and I just shrugged,
"I just want cuddles," I said, reaching my arms out to him. He was now fully out of his gear and was changing into his own comfy clothes.
Scrunching my hands at him like a toddler, I dropped the plushie. Giving him a pleasing look, I could see his serious complexion drop and a smile emerge from his face,
"I'm coming. Give me a moment to change,"
"Hurry," I said as I dropped my hands down, rolling over to my spot on the bed. Cuddling up to the blankets, I waited for him as he stood there changing into a basic plain outfit of sweatpants and a tee shirt.
Smiling as he made his way into the bed, I quickly cuddled up to him, his arms wrapping around me. Laying my head on his chest, I felt happy as I liked being here next to him, him just holding me. It felt nice, and it felt right. Despite what those jerks of heros said earlier, I knew Iida better than anyone. I wasn't a boy toy, i was his boyfriend and I know he loves me. He didn't even have to say it. It was moments like these, where his warmth is my warmth, that I know he loves me.
And I love him

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)

Slave 53: The Phoenix
Azgarth is a violent Warlord from a planet where everyone feared him, a man that never lost a battle whether it be from his enemies surrendering or dying. After entering a wormhole, this once infamous man had his memory completely wiped. He was enslaved under the name 53. The great comet arrived one day and gave 53 an extremely rare animal aspect, the Phoenix. Having a rare animal aspect puts people on the fast track to power in this world. Will 53 show the same brutality as his former self? Author: So there will probably be a lot of changes when I start hashing out the whole classes and what not. I'm not planning on this to have statuses or anything like that, but when people 'lvl up' is probably going to be something like ascending 1, 2, 3, etc. With each ascension they are many times stronger, for example, someone who hasn't ascend at all would be at 0, but someone with a 1 would be about 5x stronger than someone who is 0 and so on. It would take a long time to reach each one. With the red colored marks which represents fire, I have a couple ideas with what I want to do, in a way a battle royale, as this continent they are on isn't very large, but all four elements are on it (or more, I might add light, dark, and some others) but all the humans have red, while a different alien race has blue (water), brown (earth), and grey (Air). The color of the mark they have influences how they feel about each other, a example of that would be if a red saw a brown, then they would naturally feel a disgust about each other, and if they killed someone from a different color they would gain way more life essence which is needed to ascend than they would killing someone from their same color. The last thing, I'm not too sure about the main character yet, as I like the whole idea of a memory wipe, I almost think it'd be more entertaining to have the guy slowly regain all his memory, then just becoming his normal self again. If that's the case I'll have to change the title of book. The original idea was this guy would keep the name 53, and his prior self named Azgarth is sharing his body, as in he can talk to him and give him advice on things since he doesn't want him to die since he is sorta like a split personality sharing the same body. Looking at it now, idk if I want this guy to be named 53 forever. Warning: A lot of dark content in the book, especially in the flashbacks.

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
