《Harry Potter Characters X Reader | Book 1 (Requests Closed)》Harry Potter x Reader ~ standing up for Harry

You walked into your DADA class and looked around. The DADA classes had been taken over by Umbridge... ever since this year the ministry had been interfering with Hogwarts and that wasn't in a positive way.
Everyone had already taken their seats and there was only one spot left... next to your crush Harry Potter. You swallowed and sighed to calm your nerves. You walked towards his desk and sat down besides him. He passed you a small smile and you smiled back.
'This is going to be great...' He sighed.
'Umbridge... we couldn't have gotten a worse teacher.' You sighed.
'Agreed.' He sighed.
You and Harry always had a great time when you were together. You had no idea what he was feeling for you, but all you know was that you were madly in love with him.
'Rose...'
You're heart jumped when he said your name. You could feel your cheeks heat up and you looked at him, your long wavy brown hair swung over your shoulder.
'Did you get any books for this class?' He asked.
'No... I was afraid I would be the only one.' You smiled.
Harry sat back in his chair. You looked at Harry. His black, short hair look beautiful as always in your eyes. He emerald green eyes hidden behind his round glasses and his scar visible underneath his hair. His eyes followed something.
You looked up and saw a paper bird flying through the classroom. You smiled as it moved your way. You blew against the birds wings and it flew away towards Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle. They got up and punched the bird away. Then the bird flew back to the place it came from.
Suddenly it caught fire and the burned piece of paper fell down. Umbridge lowered her wand with the creepy smile of hers.
'Good morning children.' She started.
Her voice echoed through the room. You hated her high pitched, innocent like voice. She wasn't innocent at all!
Umbridge stepped forwards in her pink outfit. You always thought the she was so ugly. You could literally see her everywhere in that pink outfit. Her brown hair didn't match the outfit at all and her face was always strict and serious, even when she tried to smile!
'Ordinary Wizard Level examinations.' She spoke.
She used her wand to write it on the chalk border in front of the class.
'What the hell is this?' Harry mumbled.
'O W L.' She spoke as if we couldn't spell.
You rolled her eyes and Harry let put a small chuckle. You cheeks shot red again.
'More commonly known as OWLS.' She spoke.
She smiled into the class and no one dared to speak.
'Study hard and you will be rewarded. Fail to do so and the consequences may be severe.' She spoke with a smile.
She flicked her wand and the piles of books behind her started floating, dividing themselves over the tables.
'Your previous instruction in this subject has been disturbingly uneven.' She continued.
You took the book in your hand and looked at it. Harry looked at you and you shrugged.
'But you will be pleased to know from now on you will be following a casually structured ministry approved of defense against the dark magic.'

You sighed and put up your hand.
'Yes?' She asked.
'There's nothing in here about using defensive spells.' You pointed out.
'Using spells?'
She let out one of her high pitched laughs.
'I can't imagine why you would need spells in my classroom.' She spoke while walking towards you.
'We're not going to use magic?' Ron asked who was sitting behind you.
'You will be learning about defensive spells in a secure, risk free way.' She smiled.
Harry looked at you. You felt kind of uncomfortable. Harry looked back at Umbridge.
'Well, what use is that? If we're going to be attacked it won't be risk free.' Harry spoke.
'Students will raise their hands when they speak in my class.' Umbridge hissed while turning around.
She walked back and Harry looked at you again. You rolled your eyes for a bit and looked back at Umbridge.
'It is the view of the ministry, that a theoretical knowledge will be sufficient to get you through your examination, which after all is what school is about.'
That didn't make any sense. You had to learn how to defend yourself!
'And how is theory supposed to prepare us for what's out there?' Harry asked.
'There is nothing out there dear. Who would you imagine would attack children like yourself.'
Harry sighed annoyed.
'Oh, well I don't know... maybe... Lord Voldemort.' You said, standing up for Harry.
There was whispering around you. No one believed Harry but you did. He looked at you in surprise. You looked at Umbridge who tried to keep her smile. She slowly walked forwards.
'No let me makes this quite clear, you have been told that a curtain dark wizatd is at rise once again... this is a lie.' She spoke while looking at you.
You looked back at her with a nasty face.
'It's not a lie! Harry saw him! Harry fought him!' You hissed back.
'Detention! Miss Clearwater.'
'So according to you Cedric Diggory dropped dead on his own accord?!' You yelled back.
Harry grabbed your wrist to sign to you that you had to stop.
'Cedric Diggory his death was a tragic accident!'
'It was murder! You heard what Harry said, Voldemort killed him! You must know that!'
Harry squeezed your wrist and you pulled your arm back. You didn't care anymore. You were done with her.
'Enough!' She screamed.
You stared at her.
'Enough, is this how badly you want to stand up for your friend? The ministry-'
'The ministry?! The ministry?! Are you serious?! The ministry is ruining Hogwarts! The ministry knows Voldemort in out there and they are putting many lives into danger! If everyone would just listen for one second at what Harry has to say many lives could be saved! People should be made aware-'
'Enough! I said enough! My office miss Clearwater..' She spoke and she finished with a giggled.
Harry wanted to say something but knew it would be best to just shut up.
-
'Maybe you shouldn't have stand up for him...' Hermione sighed after you hurried out of the classroom.
You looked around and didn't see Harry or Ron around. You grabbed her arm and pulled her with you into an empty corridor.

'I had to...'
'Why?' She asked.
You bit your lower lip.
'Well I...'
You doubted for a moment. What if she would tell him?
'You..?'
'I might... I might have a crush on him... and I can't take it that no one believes him. I believe him... why would he lie?'
'You like Harry? That's so cute.' She spoke with a small smirk.
'You can't tell him... promise me 'mione.' You almost begged.
'I won't tell him.' She smiled.
'Thank you.'
You walked towards the Gryffindor common room.
-
You hadn't seen Harry since DADA. You didn't know where he had gone and you didn't really care at this point. You were more worried about Umbridge. Detention... at her office... what did you have to do? You sighed and nervously stopped in front of the door of her office.
'Come in.' You heard a highly annoying voice speak.
You opened the door walked in. Her totally pink office was awful. The walls were pink, the floor was pink... on one wall besides the door were plates with moving cats on them. You looked at them and then back at Umbridge who sat there with that stupid smile still on her face.
'Good evening miss Clearwater.' She spoke. 'Sit.'
You closed the door and slowly walked forwards.
'You're going to be doing some lines for me today miss Clearwater.'
You placed your bag on the chair and wanted to opened it.
'No, not with your quill. You're going to use a rather special one mine.'
She got up and grabbed a quill. You placed your bag on the floor and sat down. Umbridge placed the quill in front of you. You grabbed it and looked at the piece of paper.
'Now... I want you to write: I must not tell lies.'
You wanted to speak back so badly. Why was she so against this truth? You knew it wasn't the best idea to stand up for Harry...
'How many times?' You just asked.
'Let's say as long as it takes for the message to sink in.'
You looked at the desk.
'You haven't given me any ink.' You stated.
'Oh, you won't be needing any ink.'
You shrugged and started writing. You thought this was absolutely useless. I must not tell lies... why did she, and the ministry, not believe him?
You were pulled out of your thoughts by a sharp pain in your other hand. You gasped and looked at your hand. It had red marks all over the top. Your fingers twitched and you saw letters form in your hand.
I must not t
Was carved in already. You looked at your paper. That was exactly what you had written... no way. You continued writing and the sharp pain came back and grew worse. When it was completely curved in your skin you dropped the quill and grabbed your painful hand. You looked at her.
'Yes?' She asked.
'I... didn't tell lies.' You answered. 'Because Harry Potter does not tell lies.'
She sighed and shook her head. You looked at the red ink on the paper. You looked back at her.
'What is it with you and that boy?'
'He is my friend. Why would he lie about seeing the wizard who killed his parents.'
'I don't think the massage sunk in yet. Copy it again.'
You sighed and picked up the quill. You sighed and started writing again. The words in your skin got digged in even deeper. It hurt even more. You bit your lower lip and tried to keep in the painful gasps that wanted to escape. You couldn't take the pain and dropped the quill. You stared at the deep cuts in your hand. You looked back at her.
'Anything else to say?' She asked.
'Nothing.'
'That's right... because deep down you know you deserve to be punished. Don't you miss Clearwater?' She spoke.
You didn't say anything and just looked in her eyes.
'Go on..' She spoke and she sat back down.
You got up and grabbed your bag. You got out of the office and turned around to close the door. You covered your hand with the sleeve of your robes.
'Hi Rose...'
You turned around and saw Harry. You gave him a small smile and tried to focus on him except for focusing on the pain in your hand.
'Hi Harry.'
'Are you alright? I'm sorry that you got into trouble because of me.'
'I got myself into trouble. Don't apologize.'
You felt something dripping down your hand. Harry looked at your hand. He walked towards you and grabbed your wrist. You gasped in pain. Harry looked at you and pulled your sleeve up a bit. He looked at your hand in shock.
'I must not tell lies? What did she do to you?' He asked.
'She just made me write lines. It's not that bad... it just hurts a bit.' You mumbled.
'She just made you write lines?'
'With a special quill without inkt.'
Harry wiped a bit of blood from your hand.
'You're bleeding Rose.'
'I'm fine.'
He sighed and let you go.
'Why did you even stand up for me? I mean... I could have been the one to write lines.'
'I believe you Harry. Everyone should stop pretending that there's nothing out there. Why would you lie?'
'So you really believe me? I was afraid you would be just like all of them.'
You looked at him in confusion.
'Why would you care about what I think?' You asked softly.
He didn't answer and stared at the ground.
'Harry, I asked you something.' You grinned.
He looked at you and scratched the back of his head.
'Do you want to get a drink with me sometime?' He suddenly asked.
Your cheeks shot red and a bright smile crossed your face.
'Of course Harry.' You smiled.
'Really?' He asked.
You nodded.
'Okay... it's a date.' He smiled.
You stepped towards him and kissed his cheek.
'Bye Harry.' You smiled and you walked away.
