I found myself stood in the centre of the Council, awaiting the news they had gathered us for.
"Y/n, we have been told of your strength in training," began Windu. At this, I saw Anakin's eyeline plummet to the floor. So he'd told them of my strength, huh. "And so we believe you meet the standard to take part in a mission."
I took a sharp inhale at this. I could handle training as a Jedi, but actually helping them felt like a betrayal. I looked to Palpatine for support, only to find his circular chair empty. I frowned, confused as to why he'd miss a meeting as important as this.
"Your task is to keep an eye on Senator Palpatine, where he goes, what he does, and most importantly, who he's associating himself with. We highly suspect him to be the Sith." My stomach dropped at this, but I kept my face hardened, not wanting to expose the panic rising in me.
"How sure are we that this is true?" Asked Anakin. The second he opened his mouth, I glared at him, the usual feeling of hate swelling up inside of me.
"We have confidence in you two to find that out," Replied Mace,"He's currently headed off to Geonosis, so thats where you will be going. You will be away only for a few days, contact us if there are any updates. Thank you Knight, Padawan," And we were dismissed.
"Masters," Anakin and I replied one after the other, bowing slightly to them before leaving.
At the door, Anakin stepped aside to let me go through, his eyes avoiding mine, awkwardly. I walked through, confused at his kindness. I was expecting a more petty display after yesterday.
Yesterday. My mind stung at the memory. Those girls at the bar... Padmé.
However, his lack of faith to the Jedi code could be my key to turning him to the Dark Side. Maybe yesterday was a blessing in disguise.
I began walking to the ships, although I couldn't help but sense his eyes on me as we walked, him behind me, not a word spoken.
I could sense his urgency, his steps paced fast as to stay right behind me.
That was when I felt his warm clutch pull me aside to a pillar by my arm. I shook him off, and looked both ways to ensure no one saw that. I saw him doing the same, his jawline flexing as he turned his head. He was so... tall, and i hadn't been this close to him in a few days. I could feel his heat radiating off him, and his robes brushed against me for a second.
I felt myself blushing, and clenched my jaw in anger at that. Meeting his eyes, I saw him doing the same.
"What on Earth did you drag me aside for," I hissed at him.
"Shhh," He hushed me, placing a finger on my lips and looking around again. I looked angrily at his hand, though i didnt remove it. His eyes trailed back to me, his adams apple bobbed as he did so.
Anakin quickly moved his hand off my lips instead, unexpectedly, resting it on the pillar next to my waist, which just moved our bodies closer together.

"Y/n," He began, "There's something I must tell you, and I should've earlier, but I didn't and now I-"
"Anakin!"
Our heads both snapped to the sound, to find Obi-Wan stood on the level above us, his hands resting on the short wall.
Anakin pushed himself away from me, his face turning a bright red as he faced his Master, who had a frown creased into his face.
"Go to your ship, you both have a mission to complete," He said firmly.
At this, Anakin twitched his head in annoyance, his hands balled up in tight fists, before he released them and walked off, glancing at me before he did so.
"Master Kenobi," I nodded my head at him before walking away, following the direction Anakin took.
What was he going to tell me?
My mind was left uneasy not knowing, it seemed important, otherwise why would he act so hushed over it.
I just shook my head and continued my way to the ship, the thought lingering in my mind.
Once I'd boarded our aircraft, I took the position of co-pilot next to Anakin, and watched his fingers as they flicked the switches that powered on the engine, which was soon followed by a gentle hum.
"You ready?" He asked.
"Just fly the damn thing." I replied. In return was his soft chuckle.
I sighed and gazed out the window, watching as tall building peaks faded to mere dots. Bustling people hurrying to and fro work, going about their daily lives, all shrunk into a complex network of entwined transport systems with patterns of light encompassing the planet below us. Otherwise known as, Coruscant.
"I can't believe they'd suspect Palpatine of being a Sith." He spoke, "It just doesn't make sense. It can't make sense. After all the mentoring he's given me, it just feels wrong." Anakin looked to me for a reply.
"Only time will tell, though I highly doubt he's a Sith."
His shoulders heaved as he took a deep inhale once I'd replied, and he began flicking switches to adjust to lightspeed.
"Anakin..." I got his attention,"What was it you wanted to tell me earlier."
"Oh... that. I don't sense right now is a good time." He seemed uneasy.
"Oh, and earlier was?"
"Don't do this y/n... I just said I'll tell you later."
"Hmm," I replied, defeated, and shrunk in my seat, closing my eyes for just a second.
~~~~
That second stretched into eternity.
My eyelids were heavy as I groggily opened them, adjusting to the light around me.
Dashes of colour danced across my vision, although it was all blurred. I blinked in an effort to gain focus, and gaped at the sight before me.
Puffs of astro clouds embellished our surroundings, stretching into the vastness of space, nebulas and bright stars were spritzed in the clouds, giving them an ethereal glow.
I uttered,"Beautiful," under my breath.
"You're finally up then," a deep voice sounded right next to my ear.
It was then I realised the soft fabric my head had been resting on, and the strong shoulder underneath that.
"Anakin!" I exclaimed, blushing. I lifted my head from his shoulder and scowled from embarrassment as a smirk spread across his face.
Our faces were mere centimetres apart, and it took me all my strength to part myself from his warmth.
"Cold, I know," He said.
"Don't," I muttered. Clearly he'd read my mind.
"Maybe quieten your thoughts," He suggested, flicking switches on the panels around us.
"Just shut up and drive," I said, flicking the final switch to boost to lightspeed.
*Anakin's pov*
We'd finally arrived at the mostly barren planet, and I was scanning the ground from above in search of shelter.
Suddenly I became aware of the weight of her head back on my shoulder, and was anxious to wake her up.
Being careful to not make any sudden movements, I steered the aircraft down to a small settlement I'd spotted. Hopefully they were friendly.
The ship had made a soft thud as it touched the ground, and she stayed sleeping. I gently placed my fingers on her soft hair, which fell in silky strands down the side of her face. I gently caressed her hair, tracing down her face like a delicate waterfall. I leaned in. Closer and closer. A soft, beautiful scent blossomed from her and it was intoxicating. Leaning back into my chair, I quickly removed my hand from her hair, realising the weird situation.
I needed to get over myself, she had been a Sith for gods sake.
Annoyed at myself, I shook my head and got up from my seat, leaving the ship to find a shelter at the settlement.
*Y/n's pov*
Crackles from a fire sounded in my ear, along with the comforting warmth of a blanket layed delicately on me. Slowly, I opened my eyes in a daze and a soft light poured into vision. Great, I'd fallen asleep again.
I was laying in some sort of hut, I guessed, with a soothing fire crackling in the corner and many layers of fur placed on the floor, overlapping one another to form the bed I was on.
I heard movement on the other side of the hut, which wasn't visible from my position, leading me to sit up and turn towards the sound.
I saw a bear chest, on which there were toned abs and a v-line that was cut short by trousers-
It was Anakin.
We met eyes, and I immediately felt the blood rush to my face, quickly covering my eyes and saying, "God, Anakin!"
I could sense his own embarrassment, as he scurried to put a shirt on over.
"Some privacy would be nice."
"Not like its the first time I've seen you like this," I muttered.
I heard him sigh. "Don't go there y/n..."
I stood up from the bed and faced him finally. He had put on a loose white shirt, the buttons left undone, leaving his chest exposed. God, get over yourself y/n. 'Oh, so you do remember. In fact, I remember very well your state in the shower. We can't keep acting like nothing happened."
"Y/n, I'm not going to discuss this with you."
The events from that evening flashed before my eyes.
The girls at the bar...
"Y/n... what I do outside the temple is none of your business."
Ah, he'd read my mind, of course.
"Why not, Anakin? Scared I'll find out your dirty secrets." I could feel my frustration burning inside,"Scared I'll find out you were just trying to use me as another one of your whores!"
"Y/N, THATS ENOUGH!" He yelled, and I could see him trembling with rage, his hands balled up in fists at his sides. "How do you even know that?"
I dismissed his question and continued, walking closer to him, so close I could whisper in his ear,"I don't know what game you're playing, but I'm not about to make the same mistake those girls did."
There was a short pause, in which our eyes were inches apart, before he leaned in close, our noses touching, to say,"And why do you think I have these 'whores'. Who do you think is the one I'm trying to get off my mind." His hands gripped around my waist and he firmly began walking closer to me, backing me into the wall of the hut. He whispered, "Who do you think has been the one teasing me, getting my hopes up to then disappear without a trace for so many weeks. To then just come back into my life out of nowhere. After all the time I spent trying to forget, all the sleepless nights, all the women..." He trailed off, his eyes shut tight. He moved away from me, turning around and shaking his head.
I watched him leave.
I watched him walk away.
I felt as though I were pinned to the spot. In the same way Anakin had me pinned here earlier.
My mind was in turmoil. I didn't know how to feel, what to think. We could never be a thing. He was a Jedi, I was a Sith. And I was here to turn him to the Dark Side. An overwhelming feeling of guilt took a hold of me, the reality of why I was here feeling more like a betrayal. And this mission was an even bigger one, to Palpatine.
Palpatine. I should warn him of it. Maybe being in close quarters with Anakin would make it easier converting him anyway...
My mind then flicked to what Anakin had just told me. All the woman... they had been a distraction? I too thought of all my sleepless nights, all the time I'd spent trying to forget, and Gale...
No, no... these thoughts were not helping, I was just tired and confused.
I needed to speak to Palpatine, that's what I had to focus on right now.
I pulled out my comlink from my robes and contacted Palpatine. Soon his voice sounded, "Dark Lady, are there any updates on your mission?"
I told him of the mission the council sent us on, and how it's best he stays on guard.
"Ah, see this may be a blessing," I heard his snakey laugh,"I'm sure being in such close quarters to Skywalker will make you able to distract him from this mission. You shall seduce him to the Dark Side. Yes, that would work," his sneery laugh sounded again.
"Of course Emperor, I'll try my hardest" I said, and turned off my comlink.
Their roles are pre-determined, yet the very fabric of reality lie in their hands. The order of the world shapes them, just how they are free to shape the world in their disparate visions. This is primarily a story exploring what it means to be human, using a lens of a hopefully real-feeling fantasy world. This story is not a power fantasy or a traditional Litrpg , while it has elements of these genres, it will focus on how these tropes would influence real people and possibly Redshirt will break some of these tropes along the way. There will be a variety of different characters and perspectives, some you hate, some you love, and some that will frustrate. Just as all people do. I don't believe there will be anything overly traumatic or explicit, but it's better to be safe than sorry. There will be some heavy topics explored, the characters views do not reflect the authors; however, if there is an issue in how I present/understand these issues please do tell me, and I will try my best to rectify it.
