《The Monster With A Soul - Dwayne (Lost Boys)》Chapter Five

Night had fallen. Paul and Dwayne had been out for some time, forcing Christine to spend some one-on-one time with David. He had attempted to flirt with her, but she would not let him see another inch of her skin.
"Why won't you help us find your brothers?" David asks. "You know that you could be set free. You would never have to see us again. Why would you choose to stay here?"
"Because unlike you, I have a soul," she replies. "I care for them. And I would rather rot in here with some demons over my brothers getting killed because of me."
"They'll die either way," he says confidently, sitting back on her bed. "My boys will find them tonight. That's a promise."
Christine lays down on the bed, closing her eyes. She begs him to leave her alone, annoyed yet scared. He laughs to himself.
"Dwayne and Paul will be bringing them here," he chuckles. "So, you'll get to watch them suffer."
Christine sits up in the bed, making eye contact with him. She could not believe the nerve of this man.
"What if I changed my mind?" she asks, trying to convince him she chose otherwise.
"Oh Christine," David says. "It's too late for that. You had your chance. Now...you get to become one of us."
David pulls out the bottle of blood he had called wine. Dwayne told Christine everything, but David did not know that. She acts confused. David nudges the bottle towards her, urging her to take a sip. Christine knew what would happen if she did, but she did not want to rat Dwayne out. It may cost him his life, and he had been the only one somewhat kind to her.

Christine lies and says she does not drink, in hopes of David giving up. He continues to bug her, wanting her to transform. There was a look of desperation in David's eyes, wanting, almost needing her to join. Just as she finally takes the bottle, a loud noise disrupts them. Dwayne and Paul had arrived.
David and Christine go to them, but to their surprise, they did not find Edgar and Alan.
"Did you check the comic book shop?" David asks them. They nod, making David groan in frustration. He turns to Christine, grabbing her arm. "WHERE THE HELL ARE THEY?"
Scared, Christine jumps back out of David's grasp. She looks over at Dwayne, who is watching in disbelief.
"Paul," David starts, yanking Christine's arm again. "You watch her tonight. Don't let her out of your sight. Understood?"
Paul nods, taking Christine from David. He walks her to Star's room. Paul stands in the corner, observing her. She tries to sleep, but she simply cannot. She sits up in the bed, facing Paul.
"Do you mind if I go speak to Dwayne?" she asks. Paul rolls his eyes, letting her go. She thanks him on her way out. She found him in the abandoned lobby, sitting with the bottle of blood in his hand. "Hey."
Dwayne looks up at her, surprised to see her. He takes one last long sip, then sets the bottle aside.
"What are you still doing up?" he asks, coming over to her. "It's late."
"I couldn't sleep," she admits. "I thought about something today, and I felt like I should ask you about it."
"I'm listening," Dwayne says.
"If you ever do find my brothers, I want you to promise me something. I want you to kill me before you hurt them."

"Why?"
"Because I won't be able to live with myself knowing that I failed to save my brothers," she replies.
"What if I don't?"
"Then I'll do it myself," she answers, pulling out her pocket-knife that Edgar had given her for their trip to the cave. It was not the most effective weapon, but if it was used right, she could easily kill herself. "Either way, I'm going to die. You either let me and my brothers go, or I kill myself. You won't get the satisfaction of making me watch you tear them apart."
"I won't let you," Dwayne argues, grabbing the knife out of her hand. Christine tries to pry the knife from his grip, but she cannot reach it. "Stop it, before you hurt yourself."
Christine gives up, huffing. She had just handed over her one true escape from this hell-hole, all because she thought she could trust someone.

The Fall
Perhaps the most well known of all devils, demons, or fallen angels is the one known as Lucifer, Satan, the Father of Lies. The cultural influence of this figure throughout history is by no means small. Despite that, it wasn’t until the time of Milton’s classic – Paradise Lost – that we saw an attempt to portray a dramatized version of the events leading to this figure’s fall from grace and power. And while this is the case, Paradise Lost is not about Lucifer – though it goes into great detail about his potential musings. No, Paradise Lost was, and still is, about the fall of mankind. So, in light of this, and the feeling that the classical story deserved another telling, I present to you all The Fall – a story focused particularly on Lucifer’s fall from grace and his musings both before and after.
