《War of the Sexes》Chapter 28~FAQ

That’s Frequently Asked Questions ;)
These are just questions that I’ve seen from looking through the comments. I really wish I could include these in the story, but at this point, I don’t know where. Of course, some may be re-answered in the future. You never know.
Also, I just want to say, I’ve thought about these a lot and while I may not hint it, this is how the culture is globally.
1). What happened that the boys and the girls are against each other?
Boys and girls spend most of their childhood pinned against each other. The girls have cooties, boys are icky, small things that just turn the opposite sex into an evil creature. Growing up, the feelings are still the same. You feel as though the opposite sex is an alien—though sometimes, an attractive alien. And while there is attraction mixed into this, people still end up feeling hatred towards the opposite sex.
This is my version of how evolution has touched humans 500 years from now. Instead of maturing past the age of cooties and germs, people have only gotten worse. To where the opposite sex is the enemy. This all makes sense in my head.
Anyways, the hatred got so bad at one point, that sides began to form. Leaders took charge, riots started against each other. Eventually, the sexes seemed to have taken up their own properties of land. The girls claimed Euro-Asia and Africa, while the guys took the Americas.
Currently, the story is taking place on the East Coast of the North America. Or… well what used to be the east coast of North America.
2). Why were John and Clayton so mean to Ellie?
I’m sure most of you figured this out already, but I’ll go over it to clarify. The girls are the enemy. Boys hate them. All their lives, boys have been taught that girls are evil, soul-sucking creatures that’s main purpose on Earth is to destroy the male population. The word Leech that is used by John many times towards Ellie was inspired by the soul-sucking part.
In case you didn’t get that!
To put this in nerd terms, Leech is as bad as in this era as Mud blood is in the wizard world.
To help you understand their intense, unprovoked hatred towards Ellie, I’ll explain it this way. I’m sure most of you were taught that we had nine planets in our solar system; Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. Well, way back when they decided Pluto wasn’t a planet, weren’t you a little upset?
Even now, I still assume Pluto’s a planet!
You were taught for so many years of your life that it was a planet and now someone has the audacity to say different? Well, quite frankly, you just don’t believe it.
That’s how it is for the guys. They were taught that girls are evil. And with Ellie trying to explain that she’s not evil, they aren’t going to buy it. What if it’s all an act? Then they really are screwed.
3). How are they reproduced if they’re supposedly in a war against each other?
Well, this isn’t a normal war. Its not like World War 2 where everyone was bombing everything they could see. This is more like a snow ball fight in the back yard. You’re not trying to kill your opponent, but you definitely want him to feel your wrath.

The boys and the girls understand that if they want the human race to survive, they sometimes have to work together to get things done. For example, I mention briefly that the girls had attempted to help the boys try to rebuild their lost wilderness by giving them a few of their animals.
Didn’t work out much, though we did manage to find Luke!
Anyways, once every year they go through a month of mating. The guys send their strongest men and the girls send their smartest off to a secluded area to mate. It’s a lot like animal mating season. The only goal is to get someone to fuck and get pregnant.
While we have studies now that show it’s a random chance of boy or girl, the organizers of mating season seem to have forgotten that knowledge. It is hoped that if you send the best of the best, then you’ll most likely get your sex born.
Once the girl has gotten pregnant, she returns back to her side. Nine months go by and the girl finally has her child. Whether boy or girl, she raises it for the first three years of its life. If the child born is male, as soon as he turns three, he’s sent off over to the boy’s side for the father to collect.
This isn’t a random choosing of mates; it’s thought through. The girl has to get quite a lot of background on the boy before she can mate with him. It’s for the child’s benefit mostly. They may hate men, but a child is still innocent, no matter the sex.
4). Why was Clayton so nice to Ellie in the beginning?
They may be enemies, but they’re still human beings. Even in war it’s hard for some soldiers to accept the fact that they have to kill a fellow human at first. Others find it rather enjoyable to murder…
Clayton would be the one with the heart that can’t stand to watch the innocent suffer. I think deep down inside, Clayton realized she was confused. He didn’t know what happened at first, but he couldn’t watch this. It may also help that he had a small crush on the enemy…
John, on the other hand, had no feelings towards Ellie and therefore, it was easier to follow what he’d been raised to do. That’s why he seemed so cruel in the beginning.
5). Whatever happened to Jim?
While Ellie traveled forward in time, frozen in her state of hyper-sleep, Jim continued to age. But the real story as to what happened? I can explain it here(:
Jim closed the door on a frightened Ellie. He double-checked that he had the right numbers punched in so that she wouldn’t get stuck in there. Ellie gave him a small smile, nodding.
This definitely was one of the riskier pranks they would be pulling. This involved the fate of Ellie. Hannah walked over to Jim, watching as Ellie’s skin changed from its normal pale white to a sickly green. Her eyes glossed over, body not moving.
“Its scary, isn’t it?” She said, her hand clutched in Sam’s.
Jim nodded “I hope she’s going to be ok. I’m incredibly nervous about this one”
“Don’t worry, Jimmy” Sam said “Your dad can get her out if there are any problems”

Jim placed a hand on the glass separating him from the girl he crushed on. He couldn’t believe they had just kissed. He wanted to pull open the door and kiss her like she’s never been kissed before. Yet, he knew he couldn’t do that.
Sam casually leaned against the machine “So what now?”
Jim’s eyes widened “Sam! Get the fuck away from the pad! You might change something important!”
Sam pulled back in surprise. Jim glared at him, turning around to the door.
“Come on guys, let’s leave” Hannah said, pulling on Sam’s arm. Sam nodded, leading the way as the three of them left the building.
Two weeks went by without any sign of Ellie before Jim confronted his dad about it. His father said he indeed did see that Ellie was in one of those chambers, but couldn’t do anything about it. Once activated, it would be highly dangerous and unsafe to take someone out of hyper-sleep before their time was up.
His father also noted that instead of the 5 days he had originally set it for, Sam must’ve pressed 0 twice, for it was to keep her body frozen for 500 years.
At the news that he had virtually killed his best friend, Jim spiraled into a depression. He lost every friend he had, and began to drink away his problems. Jim got into heroin, finding that the only time he could forget about his mistake was when the filthy drug was injected into him.
Three years later, Jim was found lying dead on his bed, the needle sticking out of his arm, his fingers tightly wrapped around a bottle of pills.
And there you go. Jim ended up killing himself at the realization that he killed his best friend. Not such a great ending for him, is it now?
6). Did John rape her?
Good question. When I wrote this, I meant to make her passing out mean that he was done with her period, but most of you assumed he wasn’t. Probably didn’t help when I said she was hurt even more, but that was just from everything that had happened.
I never intended for it to seem like John actually had raped her; just put the thought into your head that maybe he was that evil.
So to answer your question, no. He didn’t rape Ellie.
John would find that disgusting at the time and clearly wasn’t going to be chosen as someone to be a potential father.
7). What’s up with Ellie and her periods?
I honestly cannot tell you how damn long it took for someone to ask this question. I’m assuming a vast majority (If not all) of the readers are girls and it didn’t occur to any of you to ask this? Jeesh, girl’s I am ashamed!
Just kidding!
This is the type of stuff I always wonder about in books. When I read a vampire novel I think ‘And how is it that he hasn’t noticed she’s on her period yet?’ because, quite frankly, people tend to skip over that bit.
Actually, I was originally planning on having Zee explain this to her but as you all know… Zee’s dead…. So that wouldn’t exactly work out.
When Ellie got locked in the chamber she entered a phase called hyper-sleep. It’s basically when your body slows down, allowing you to sleep for an extended period of time. [idea inspired by the movie Pandorum] Because hyper-sleep is relatively new [in my story, at least] there’s bound to have some side effects.
Basically, it affected Ellie’s body in a not so good way. The prolonged lack of menstruation (due to hyper-sleep. What, you think I’m going to make her go through her menstrual for 12 times a year for 500 years while she’s not even awake? Come on. I’m not that cruel) caused her body to stop making eggs. She has one egg left inside of her to be fertilized and that’s the same one she’s had for 500 years. Her body just stopped producing eggs.
She’ll never bleed it out. The eggs in her ovaries are dead and the one remaining egg will be fertilized probably within the first three times of having sex.
Of course, who says she’s going to have sex any time soon? Eh? Not me… maybe… ;)
Another side effect is that her hair won’t grow anymore. Leg hair, armpit air, pubes, head hair, everything.
It just won’t grow anymore.
Aside from that, for the most part, the rest of her body is in fairly good shape.
8). What happened to Luke?! And why does he like John?
We’re not finished with him just yet(: Don’t worry guys, he’ll return. He’s a tough little fellow and not so quick to give up on someone like Ellie who gives him genuine affection. Or John.
To answer the second part, dogs have certainly changed. He probably wouldn’t be considered a dog by our terms by how much evolution has changed.
Clayton’s scent was on Ellie more than John’s was. Luke could clearly tell Ellie was being abused and he just connected that Clayton would be the one hurting her.
While he was wrong, John secretly likes Luke’s company. And even if Luke ever realized in his small dog brain that John had actually hurt the first girl to give him some love, Luke couldn’t hate him. They’ve got a bond now
9). And the most commonly asked question is…. Update me?
My answer will always be of course =)
Thank you to everyone who’s reading this. I cannot even begin to say how thankfully I am for you guys. I’ve got three stories going on this sight currently, and I look forward to the responses on War of the Sexes the most. You guys ALWAYS give me beautiful feedback and I can’t even begin to show you how appreciative I am.
Thank you so much guys and a new chapter will be posted soon. (A REAL chapter this time!)
I love hearing these ‘team John’ and ‘team clayton’ things by the way!
If you have any questions, feel free to post these. I’ll answer as best I can and hopefully I’ll do another FAQ at the very end of this novel.
I thank each and every one of you for reading and putting up with the craziness!
I love you guys!

The Patchwork Realms
Athos is a good dog. He likes frisbee, bacon, and his family (SmolFriend, Mom, and Dad). He's not so keen on falling through an interdimensional portal to a fantasy world where floating boxes tell you that you've just been given status as the 'Supreme Exemplar' of your species, a powerful package of abilities that includes human-level intelligence. Sure, being smart is nice but less so when it comes with the need to survive in a land made from bits of different dimensions stitched together like patches in a quilt. A thousand species, a thousand lands, sorcery and super science rubbing elbows, wars and intrigue everywhere...it's exhausting for a good dog who just wants to go home! Note that this is a work in progress with lots of fiddly numbers so I will occasionally need to go back and fix errors, and this might affect events of earlier chapters. I'll try to keep this to a minimum and will post a note whenever it happens. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Two Existentialists | S.R.
"How many existentialists does it take to screw a lightbulb?" Spencer asked with a small laugh. Once again the room was silent. You faintly heard Agent Rossi mutter, "Don't.""2. One to change the light bulb and one to observe how it symbolizes an incandescent beacon of subjectivity in a netherworld of cosmic nothingness," he said. The room was silent still, until you laughed. His eyes looked up at yours in confusion. "Wouldn't they sit in the dark and hope that the bulb decided to light again? An existentialist would never change the bulb. He would allow the darkness to exist," you questioned.-#1 #spencerreid#1 #mgg#1 emilyprentiss
