While Lucy relaxes in her apartment by taking a bath, Cana suddenly shows up in her tub. Cana asks Lucy about her father and looks quite troubled. When Lucy offers her help, Cana states that she's thinking of quitting the guild.

In the guild the next day,

Lucy: "Can you believe that! I mean I thought Cana was in Fairy Tail for life, I tried to get her to tell me why but she wouldn't say"

Mirajane: "I wouldn't worry about it. She always talks about quitting whenever this time of year rolls around"

Lucy: "Say what! Oh no is something bad gonna happen!"

Later, Natsu and Happy show up, take a job and then leave,

Lucy: "Hey if you're going on job take me with you!"

Natsu: "Its solo mission season. Sorry"

Happy: "We will hang out with you, when we get back"

Natsu suddenly collides headfirst into Gray. Both of them start arguing,

Gray: "You better watch where you're going you pink-haired freak"

Natsu: "And you better stay out my way, Mr. Grumpy Panties"

Happy: "Do you guys really have time to stay around and argue"

Natsu/Gray: "Yeah good point"

Soon enough, Gray and most of the guild are scrambling over each other taking on jobs and fighting each other over job requests, making Lucy curious.

Meanwhile, Carla demonstrates her ability of Precognition to Wendy and Lisanna.

Lisanna/Wendy: "You can see into the future ?"

Carla: "Yes, a trait that the Exceed Queen and I share. Both of us were blessed with the rare gift of clairvoyance, I wasn't aware of it until recently but I have a small degree of control over it"

Wendy: "Wow that's totally amazing"

Lisanna: "So can you tell me which guy is going to be my future husband ?"

Carla: "I'm afraid I'm not able to see that far ahead but maybe something sooner"

While Erza, Panther Lily (in his full form) and Puss (in his human form) have a short sparring match.

Kinana: "Hey guys you shouldn't be doing that indoors!"

Erza: "Had enough"

As if on cue both Panther Lily and Puss transform into their respective smaller Exceed forms.

Panther Lily: "It seems I can't stay in my original form for very long"

Puss: "Talk about it" *slings arm across Lily's shoulder* "Still your blade skills are top notch señor Lily"

Erza: "I agree with Puss over there"

Panther Lily: "Both of you flatter me. I think I should be the one complimenting you both"

Gajeel: "What do you think Erza my cat is a force of nature ain't he!"

Panther Lily: *looks at Erza* "I assume this is what the guild refers to as an S-class skill level" *looks at Puss* "And the Swords-Cat of Fairy Tail"

Meanwhile Lucy is watching this with Mirajane who is cleaning plates,

Lucy: "I don't understand why so many people are freaking gung-ho about going out on jobs while everyone else is just goofing off like nothing's happening"

Mirajane: "It will all make sense to you tomorrow"

Indeed, the next day, every Fairy Tail Mage gathers in the guild for the Master's important announcement, everyone is anticipating what will be the announcement when the curtain rises from the stage revealing Master Makarov, Erza, Mirajane and Gildarts.

Makarov: *clears throat* "In accordance with the Fairy Tail guilds time honored tradition. I will now announce this year's entrance for the S-Class promotion trial"

Everyone cheers at this news however,

??: "SAY WHAT!!!"

Everyone turns to look at (Y/n) who is shocked.

(Y/n): *sweating* "S-S-Class trials. I-I will be back"

(Y/n) turns around and is about to run when Makarov grows his hand and catches (Y/n) by his collar.

Makarov: "Now where do you think you're going boy"

(Y/n): *flailing* "NO! NOT AGAIN! PLEASE POPS!! ERZA! MIRAJANE! GILDARTS! SOMEBODY!!!"

Makarov lifts (Y/n) by his collar who is trying to escape from Makarov's grasp.

Makarov: "Erza, Mirajane you know what to do"

Erza: *sadistic grin* "Yes master"

Natsu/Gray: *hugging each other * "So scary!!!"

Makarov places (Y/n) on the stage and holds him while Mira smiles in her cheerful way and Erza has a sadistic grin on her face who is stretching a rope in her hands.

(Y/n): *sweating* "E-E-Erza please don't, Mira please! I will buy you an entire bakery filled with strawberry cakes Erza! Mira I will buy you an entire boutique! Gildarts I will get all those dirty photos you want, Puss has a collection of those!"

Puss: "DON'T EXPOSE ME YOU SLACKER!!!"

Gildarts: *sweating* "What are you talking about kid ? What dirty photos ?" *rubbing the back of his neck, nervously laughing*

Mira: *smiling* "Sorry (Y/n)"

Erza: *placing hand on chin* "Okay buy me a bakery filled with strawberry cakes..."

(Y/n) has a hopeful smile on his face,

Erza: *cheerful smile* "After the S-Class trials"

(Y/n)'s hopeful smile is replaced by sheer terror. Soon enough even (Y/n) has joined them albeit with ropes wrapped around his body.

(Y/n): *crying* "This is not a guild, this is a dictatorship"

Makarov: "Anyway as was saying. The trial this year will take place on Tenrou Island. Our guild's sacred ground"

Lucy: *to Warren & Max* "Do you guys know what he is going to make them do. I mean even (Y/n) is terrified"

Max: "Well it's something different every year"

Warren: "It's basically a seriously tough challenge"

Alzack: "But if you're able to pull it off. He will bump you up to an S-Class wizard"

Bisca: "Besides don't worry about (Y/n) it's just his laziness acting up"

Makarov: "The strength that you possess inside, your character and your hearts. These are what I consider while making my selections and I have chosen 8 participants. Natsu Dragneel"

Natsu: "Thank you sir"

Happy: "You got in this bag buddy"

Makarov: "Gray Fullbuster"

Gray: "It's finally my time to move up"

Makarov: "Juvia Lockser"

Juvia: "Really ? The Master chose me"

Makarov: "Elfman Strauss"

Elfman: "S-Class deserves a real man like me"

Lisanna: "Best of luck big brother"

Makarov: "Cana Alberona"

Cana unlike the others doesn't react at all in excitement.

Makarov: "Freed Justine"

Freed: "So I will be following in Laxus's footsteps"

Makarov: "Levy McGarden"

Levy: "I'm so stoked about this"

Jet/Droy: "Levy is totally gonna win this one"

Makarov: "And Mest Gryder"

Random member: "Woo Mest!"

Random member: "He almost made it the last year"

Alzack: *black & white, crouching* "I worked so hard so why didn't he picked me up this year"

Bisca: *placing hand on Alzack's shoulder* "It's bound to happen someday"

The guild cheers for the chosen eight, but then Lucy notices that Cana doesn't seem to be excited at all.

Makarov: "Although eight wizards have been selected only one will emerge victorious. The trial will begun in one week's time. So you better step up your preparations"

Gajeel: "How come he picked Juvia but I get passed over! I thought the old man liked me more than her"

Panther Lily: "You seem to have a shady reputation in the guild for some reason. I get the reason they don't trust you very much"

Gajeel: "THAT'S CRAZY! THEY CAN ALL TRUST ME JUST FINE! I.. just can't tell em what I'm really doing around here"

Panther Lily: "Take it up with (Y/n)"

(Y/n): *tied up, deadpan* "Sorry but you are not just ready yet"

Gajeel: "THIS DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE!!!"

During the commotion, Carla suddenly has an unfortunate vision. She sees a large, tree-like structure crumble, as well as the sorrowful faces of Cana and Natsu and someone's hand. At the end of a vision, Carla perceives an unnamed young man in dark clothing.

Makarov: "For the benefit of our newcomers. Let's go over the rules of the challenge shall we"

Mirajane: *holding a stack of papers* "The eight participants will each choose a partner. This person will also be allowed to train with them with the week leading up to the event"

Lucy: "A partner ?"

Max: "Yeah, ultimately its a battle between two person teams"

Warren: "A part of it also putting their friendships to the test"

Erza: "Observe these two rules when choosing your partner. Number one they must be a member of Fairy Tail and Number two your choice cannot be a S-Class wizard"

Gajeel: "Hmm"

Panther Lily: "But that only rules out a handful of people. Neither Erza, Mirajane, (Y/n) nor Gildarts can be chosen"

Wendy: "Guess a team with those guys on will be pretty hard to beat"

Makarov: "We will reveal all the particular details of the island once we have arrived on Tenrou Island. But know that you will have to go past Erza to claim victory"

Everyone in the guild is shocked at this information,

Mirajane: *raising hand* "And I will be doing my best to weed out the rest right beside her"

Everyone are further shocked.

Lucy: "So the only way to become a S-Class wizard is by defeating Erza and Mirajane"

Max: "But the rumor has it they have been ordered to hold back a little bit"

Warren: "I still don't envy anybody who has to take them on"

Gildarts: "Quit your bellyaching. The four of us had to go through this trial its only fair you too"

Elfman: "No way he said the "four of us""

Happy: "We're canned tuna!"

Natsu: *excited* "No way! I finally get to fight old man Gildarts and (Y/n)!"

Gray: "That's not good news!"

Makarov: "(Y/n) won't be a part of the obstacle"

Erza and Mirajane are surprised at this while the guild as a whole breathes a collective sigh of relief. (Y/n) is beyond excited at the news. He gets rid of his gloomy aura and crawls to Master quickly,

(Y/n): *eyes twinkling* "Is it true Pops ? I won't have to fight anyone"

Makarov: "Yes"

(Y/n): *hopping around excited* "YAHOO!!!", "This is the best day of my life"

Erza: "But Master"

(Y/n): *smug grin* "Are you jealous strawberry ?"

Makarov: "That doesn't mean you're not coming to Tenrou Island"

(Y/n): "I don't get it Pops ? If I won't fight anyone then what's the use of me coming ?"

Makarov: "Oh you have an important part in the trials" *smug grin* "You will be cooking food for everyone in the trials. (Y/n) ?"

Makarov looks at (Y/n) who is already out of his bounds and has gone deathly pale...

Makarov: "S-sure. But don't die and go a bit later"

(Y/n) stands at a corner with a gloomy aura,

Lucy: "Wow he's giving Juvia a run for her money"

Max: "Talk about it"

(Y/n): *muttering & gloomy aura* "Join Fairy Tail they said, it will be fun they said"

Lucy: "So what's the deal with (Y/n) ?"

Max: "Well apparently he hates going on the S-Class because he doesn't get to sleep too much"

Lucy and Wendy just sweatdrop at this.

Warren: "Anyway it's a good thing he won't be there so there's a slight chance someone might actually pass this year"

Makarov: "The eight participants I named earlier and their chosen partners are asked to meet at the port of Hargeon one week from today. So get to work"

(Y/n): "Hey Pops"

Makarov: "What is it ?"

(Y/n): *deadpan* "You're not a guild master, you're the devil"

Freed partners up with Bickslow. Natsu chooses Happy, Gray pairs with Loke, Juvia with Lisanna, Elfman with Evergreen and Levy with Gajeel.

While traveling on the streets of Magnolia, Carla warns Wendy that she has a bad feeling about the trial and that Wendy absolutely shouldn't go. Wendy assures Carla that it's okay because no one will partner with her. Suddenly, Mest shows up, saying that she shouldn't think like that. Elsewhere in Magnolia, Lucy finds Cana passed out in an alley and takes her to her apartment.

When Cana comes to, she tells Lucy about how she failed the trial four times and that if she fails for the fifth time, she'll leave the guild because she has no right to see "that person". Cana then continues to narrate her story to Lucy. Lucy, shocked, decides to be Cana's partner, promising her that she will do all in her power to help Cana become S-Class and not leave the guild.

A week later, it is revealed that Wendy has partnered with Mest, and they, along with all the other two-person teams participating in the S-Class Trial, prepare to board the ship to Tenrou Island.

The ship of Fairy Tail departs the Hargeon port and is en route to Tenrou Island.

Almost everyone on board complains about the intense heat,

Lucy: *lying on a chair* "Why is it so hot ? Wasn't it snowing the other day ? It feels like my skin is gonna melt off"

Lucy imagines herself as a popsicle.

Lucy: "I'd love to turn into a popsicle but Happy would just eat me"

Happy: *sweating* "I think I would pass"

Levy: "Lu I know it's ridiculously warm but do you have to sit like that"

Cana: *fanning herself* "You think it's warm, it's freaking boiling here! Because there's no wind"

Wendy: "Ehmm"

Happy: *lying on a table* "So hot~"

Lucy: "My kingdom for an ice cream cone"

Happy: "Kingdom~"

Gajeel: "All right we get it it's a scorcher, talk about something else"

Lisanna: *pressing a drink against face* "Juvia aren't you hot wearing that. You might get a heatstroke"

Juvia: "No I'm perfectly fine however one thing what might do it..."

She gets in hearts in her eyes as she looks at Gray who is completely naked and is laid out on a beach chair

Juvia: *hearts in eyes* "Is the sight of my beloved Gray's naked body!"

Gray: "I'm dying here"

Natsu: *motion sick* "So this is what hell feels like"

Natsu walks near the edge where Loke is sitting on a chair,

Loke: "Yo" *raising hands* "Point that puke cannon somewhere else bro"

Natsu: *motion sick crying* "It wouldn't be so bad if Wendy would cast that miracle spell on me again" *pukes*

Loke: "You can't blame her though. She is technically your enemy"

Wendy: *head lying on a table* "Sorry Natsu. Hang in there"

Evergreen and Elfman are sitting near the mast.

Evergreen: *fanning herself* "Well isn't this touching. Here they are about to engage each other in brutal combat and they are being all buddy-buddy"

Elfman: "Ah! I'm roasting! I'm like a man-steak!"

Evergreen: "Would you mind roasting away from me"

"Oh Dios mío! It's scorching over here hermano" I say to (Y/n) who is busy setting up his kitchen for others.

(Y/n): "I know Puss but the weather is also a part of the trials"

"What do you mean ?" I ask with an eyebrow raised.

(Y/n): "The hot weather saps your stamina even if it's little. It forces a person to think properly and try to conserve their energy"

"Hmm I didn't think about it that way" I reply with my hand on my chin.

(Y/n): "For you to think like that you have to stop looking at dirty pictures of women like a creep"

I get annoyed and bash my head against rainbow eyes,

"WHAT DID YOU SAY ASH HAIR!!!"

(Y/n): "I CALLED A PERVERT A PERVERT!!!"

(Y/n) then suddenly unbuttons his shirt,

"You have been hanging out with Gray a lot"

(Y/n): "It's not my fault it's a bit too warm this year"

"Thank goodness we aren't in Magnolia heh" I smirk realizing one of (Y/n)'s weakness. His fangirls.

(Y/n) just shudders at the thought but quickly regains his composure.

(Y/n): "However I'm lucky I'm not on the ship with the added humidity it will be scorching over there. Unless they have better endurance or don't dress down a bit they might be suffering..."

The only thing which hits my ears is only one thing "Dress down a bit".

I imagine Miss Lucy, Miss Cana, Miss Evergreen, Miss Juvia, Miss Levy and Miss Lisanna in swimsuits.

"Heaven~"

"So they might be suffering. Puss ?"

I look behind me to find Puss lying down with all blood around him and a bit still flowing from his nose. My eyes pop out and my jaw hangs, "THIS PERVERTED CAT JUST IMAGINED SOMETHING DIRTY AND HE ALREADY HAS

A NOSEBLEED!!!"

Soon enough, they spot the island from a distance and they marvel at its sight and the magical energy around it.
