《SECOND TRIAL | tk | ✓》4. LONER

cha hyeji,
she was a beauty that had the hearts of many alphas flutter.
many wanted her, but she wasn't easy.
but that didn't stop them from coming to the club- to watch her move, roll and dance.
hyeji was a loner all her life, maybe thats why she strives under all that attention, even if her profession is not quite ideal for the society standards.
then kyungjae had came to the visits.
he bought her things she could never dream of, took her to places, gave her the attention she was starving for- being the naive omega, she fell, fell for him so hard.
and even when she had revealed that she is pregnant with his child, kyungjae was a gentleman, still providing her with everything she needs.
but hyeji's life didn't turn out that much pleasant.
she found out the facts- about the kim mafia, and that the father of her unborn child has another family and kids.
she was devastated, but she never gave a cold face because she had to survive.
and when her beautiful omega boy was born, she was the happiest.
kyungjae still continued to give both of them money and everything they need.
but he became distant.
maybe hyeji was not that appealing for him anymore.
and after some 'tragic' events, when the omega boy got all alone at the mere age of eight, kyungjae brought him to the kim mansion.
thats how the boy became a kim.
kim taehyung,
the limping little boy, with his plastered leg was looked at with disgust by everyone.
his life was hell from there considering how shocked kyungjae's family was to see him, the illegitimate son.
so the innocent boy grew up facing abuse, seeing blood and growing in that mafia life he was dragged into- his lost mothers only words striving him to live.

and once, after years, taehyung got the courage to escape,
he stole, he was hurt, but he ran away.
to his relief no one came to hunt him back and taehyung built his life from scratch, joined college and started a life.
at present, taehyungs days became a blank slate with nothing to fill.
he spend it inside the mansion, only getting out of the room for dinner, were he have to face the sneers of his half brothers and step mother.
he stares out through the window, seeing people come and go out of the mansion, tunes out his ears to any screams or unpleasant sounds or burrows himself inside the mountain of blankets in his bed.
it wasn't pleasant but he is alive, so taehyung didn't complain.
alone in his room, he thinks of the impending danger, the marriage-
such contracts are quite common in the business world- them seeing their omega children as nothing but entities to bring relations and profit.
but, taehyung had gone through a shit ton of things in his life and he sure will one day get out all of this. he believes that.
that he will have a peaceful life in future,
one were he can live without fearing none.
that hope helps him survive.
the next few days, he was swarmed by people who gave him a slight make over and taehyungs hair was dyed back to its natural black to the omegas dismay.
then his father had came to visit after days- declaring that they'll be meeting the jeons that evening for the engagement- a small function with just the two families.
plastering his smile through the nausea and nerves that assaulted him, taehyung stayed still for the makeup artists that had swarmed him.
while pondering through the numerous thoughts in his head, he had saw it- the smartphone alongside the mirror.

it was probably of one of the stylists.
maybe he can secretly give a call to jimin?
atleast he can let his friend know he is alive and maybe tell jimin to forget him?
while the others around were distracted with preparing his suit, taehyung discreetly took the phone, tapping it to see that its not locked.
maybe a small part of the universe still works in his favor, taehyung thinks.
he slipped out of the room silently while the stylists were bickering on what shoes to choose, tiptoeing and leans onto the wall, hastily typing in the number that he knows byheart with shivering hands.
when the call starts ringing, taehyung was trembling with anxiousness, eyes going back and forth on the now empty hallway,
a few seconds that felt like eternity later, the call gets picked up,
"...hello?" came jimins voice, that sounded so distant and empty, taehyung let out a sob.
"chim-" the omega sobbed into the phone, clutching it closer to his ear.
there was loud rustling on the other end.
"Tae?? Oh my god where are you? i-i looked everywhere, w-went to the police. are you okay?-- tae please where are you?" jimins shaky voice sounded desperate.
"chim i'm-" before taehyung can respond, the phone was snatched away from his hands; taehyung letting out a silent scream seeing it crashing to the floor, the screen scattering to pieces.
"is it that hard for you to obey?" came the voice, her long nails gripping onto his jaw painfully hard.
"you really want to see your friend dead?" her wine red lips spitted out.
"no. d-dont you fucking dare" taehyung gritted out, too emotionally exhausted to feel any brave.
hearing the commotion, the stylists inside came rushing out; them getting an earful from his step mother as she dismissed them with a pay check.
"you have one hour to get ready" she pushed taehyung into the room, locking the door from outside.
the tears of frustration didn't stop.
taehyung splashed cold water on his face and leaned by the sink for a while taking deep breaths.
then, he came out, wearing the suit laid neatly on the bed.
he looked at the mirror and his reflection looked pale, his eyes red from crying and nose a shade of pink.
he looked miserable, and truthfully he hasn't looked close to this in years.
taehyung sighed frustratingly.
taehyung wasn't keen on getting ready- he put in his contacts, applied some concealer and lip balm, then aggressively combed through the curled hair.
he doesn't think he look fabulous per se, but he looked presentable and its more than enough considering he ain't keen on pleasing anyone.
taehyung slipped on the shoes and sat on the bed, waiting for them to pick him up and wishing for this horrible day to be over soon.

Isoptera
Reincarnated, Crete finds himself not in some overpowered human body with the basic kill the demon lord cliche. No, he is reincarnated as a weak, powerless, and quite frankly worthless existence. Maybe his was a mistake, as he wasn't even reincarnated as a human but instead a humble and meek existence, A termite. Follow Crete as he adventures, without the memories of his previous life intact, in this New World, Honera. He trudges on endlessly with his indomitable willpower and journeys as a meek termite who is fraught with trials and tribulations; as he seeks for the power to just live in peace and without the prejudice everyone seems to have against his kind. Upload Schedule: M-W-F Hey guys this is my first attempt at a novel, based on the type of fiction I enjoy, it'll be mostly slow-paced at the start as I try to work out the kinks and learn more about "Isopterans". However, if y'all enjoy it leave a few nice reviews, or if you don't, leave some constructive criticism. Both would be appreciated. I also would be setting up a Patreon if any are interested in donating to help fund the story or you can send a donation through PayPal directly. I want to create something that we as RRoaders can enjoy together. You can also access the Discord here [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Of Frost and Steel
After being kicked out of home by her own parents, Emily found herself living in the house of an old woman while working as a plumber to help pay the bills. Her slightly unusual but still very normal life came to an abrupt end one day when an incoming car crashed into hers. When she next opened her eyes, she found no ambulance or hospital room waiting for her. What she found were instead the faces of beings much larger than her who were not entirely human, and the opportunity to live a new life, free of her old one. WARNING: This fiction is dedicated to a friend of mine who spent twelve years of her life hiding who she was because she feared the reaction of her family. For this reason it contains LGBT themes, although they won't be the sole or main focus of the story. The story contains sexual themes, but I will try to keep them to a minimum or make them "fade to black". Chapters will be around 1000 words long and without a fixed release schedule, for the moment.

The Burning City
At the end of book one of Jake Kerr's rollicking Guildmaster Thief series, Ralan Miller was looking over a calm city that had withstood a traitorous power struggle by his brother Larsen, the Guildmaster Merchant. In this astonishing second book in the series, Larsen pushes subtlety aside and provokes all-out civil war as he assaults the members of the Harvest Guild. Featuring a rich tapestry of intrigue, politics, secrets, colorful characters, and a complex world where seemingly no one can be trusted, this second book of the Guildmaster Thief series further reveals the compelling secret history of the city state of Ness and its cutthroat guilds. The Spear and The Cross
The World of Marrh has been embroiled in a decades-long struggle between the eventually divided Zurul Horde and the ever-decaying Juman Empire. A war whose causes for carnage have long been forgotten. A half-orc and a human will eventually meet paths, their fates intertwined to save their dying world from their peoples' conflict and from an outsider's interference... Will they succeed, or will they succumb to failure? Only the Divine will truly know. NOTE: I upload chapters (about +2,500 words) on an irregular basis, so don't expect much from me. I write for fun only, and this book is an amateurish attempt at showcasing my world on The Spear and The Cross. If you still want to stick around, then go ahead. Maybe it'll be a fun ride. And also, a big thanks to my artist friend, Milkuii, for the wonderful cover art.
