"Holly come down for a sec," I called out.
Gill looked at me in a hard way, I still hadn't talked to her after our little argument.
She asked me to talk to Holly about it and I decided to finally talk to her to get her off my back.
Miley had gone back home, and wrong to say, I miss her pretty face.
Holly stomped down the stairs, her phone in her hands and a frown on her lips.
"What's got you frowning?" Gill asked and folded her arms in a serious manner.
"Nothing. . anyways," she replied quickly and let her phone in her back pocket.
"So Holly, your dad has something to say to you. Now I know you don't listen to me, but this time, he is saying this okay?" Gillian said with a sarcastic smile.
Pfft yeah right babe.
"Holly, baby, I think that you should concentrate more on your studies now." I said.
Her smile dropped.
"I am trying, dad. But the school I'm going to, is a really prestigious school. 50% of the people are impossibly smart and 50% of the others have their grades increased because their parents give the school money. I'm an average student because I can't cope up with the studies." She said shrugging her shoulders.
"Sweetie, I know you have the potential - "
"No dad, if you want my good marks, you have to pay for it. I can't study at such a high level. We have like all triple AP classes."
"Now Holly, don't talk to us about money. We have always considered you our princess. But this, education? It's something you need to do for yourself honey, not for us." Gillian said.
And I had to agree, she was right. I personally wouldn't want to see my baby fail school.

"Get my school changed then please, I need a normal school." Holly said.
"Not happening." Gillian said too quickly and Holly's coloured changed to red.
"No mom! I need a public school, maybe, Miley's? Her school is really -"
"Keep quiet Holly! Everything is about Miley in your life? So if she jumps you jump too? Grow up Holly and get a brain. Your friendship is ruining you! You don't talk to us anymore and you are lacking in school and social activities. You don't even have other friends!" Gillian burst out.
Holly formed her hands in fists. Oh, the anger genes. I didn't even want to intrude.
"Mom please! Don't blame this on her! She has been going - "
"Through a lot?" Gillian said and laughed.
"Gill - stop," I tried to nudge my wife but she didn't stop.
"I've heard that before. But guess what, even YOU are going through a lot Holly. Your life is slipping out of your hands and you don't even know."
"Mother! I'm a freaking teenage girl! I ought to have friends!"
"I know. I'm not asking you to stop being friends with her , just make a time table and fit her in that. Don't spend your whole day with her."
"Mom you don't get it." Holly sulked.
I shouldn't be saying this but actually Gillian was right. I also noticed the behaviour change in Holly. It was not because of Miley but something else for sure. Miley couldn't ruin my daughter, she was a sweet girl.
"Sweetie, if you need help you can always talk to your sister Polly, you know how she was the topper of her school —" Gillian trailed off.
"No mom! I'm tired of listening to your and your expectation! I'm just done! I can't be perfect always!" Holly yelled at her before she ran back upstairs.

I looked at Gillian and she had tears rolling down her face.
Like an instinct I went over to her and hugged her.
"Luke," she cried.
"We'll be okay Gill. I'll talk to her, just give her some time, she'll understand."

Why do they feel that way? I'm doing my best. If they want better results then they should also wrk for it. And dad, I thought he was my supporter, but he was so easily siding with mom.
I dialled Miley's number.
And the funny thing is that they even dragged her into this.
"Hey?"
"Hi Miley! Listen I have - " I started to say.
"Not now Holly. My mother's really angry and she's going crazy so I'm in a difficult situation here." She said in a hushed voice.
"Bu-" I began to say when the phone cut on me.
Maybe mom was right, Miley thinks that things can be wrong with her and her only. What If I need her? Her mom is going crazy but then so is mine! She's going through a difficulty then so am I!
I threw my phone and it smashed agaisnt the wall
I'm done handling everyone's crap.
There was a light knock on my door.
"Who is it?" I growled.
"ITS daddy. Open the door." Dads voice engulfed my ears.
I didn't move causing him to knock again, but this time, I didn't reply either.
He pushed the door open and entered. He looked scared and confused.
"Holly, your mother is sad. Even I am. Not with you but also with myself and how we've been treating you. Let's make a deal okay. You do one of the things we want and we'll do one of the things you want, fair enough?"
I looked at him and I knew he was being serious.
"So.. like can I get an example?" I asked nervously.
"Okay... um so if you start opening up to us more the we will help you in your studies."
"That's just a one way deal, dad. It should be that I should be getting freedom to go to whichever school I want."
His mouth opened and then closed, and no words came out.
"I'm trying baby. Don't make it hard for us."
"Oh my god dad! Stop acting so f.ucking immature! Don't you see you're not trying at all! All you're doing is telling me to do stuff just in a different way! You're no better than mom!" I burst yelling at him.
I knew he grew angrier by the second as his eyebrows grew closer and he became redder.
"That's No way to talk to me young lady. Maybe Gillian was right. You're out of our hands. Grounded, you're grounded holly. And by that I mean no one entering either. You are banned from seeing Miley until you improve your behaviour." Dad said as he held his finger in the air looking at me though is angry eyes.
"No dad! Don't do this -"
He walked back out and shut the door behind him leaving me on the bed, soaked in tears.
What have I done? What should I do?

War of Seasons
Dorothea Atlin is the young, apathetic leader of the neutral territory of Sirpo, a chilly land hovering above the continuously warring factions of Sacer and Ghuria, whose devastating magics have ravaged their people and lands time and time again. Following a shocking attack and a cruel deception, Dorothea grows her conscience and takes up arms, using her self-destructive ability to manipulate the flow of time to ensure Sacer’s victory. Her growing understanding of war and the two factions is guided by Iree Nobelis, the determined and enthralling commander of Sacer’s forces, Ariana Kingfisher, a steely swordswoman of mixed Ghurian and Sacerian descent, and Rhys Tamlin, a kind but haunted soldier who goes to challenge Dorothea’s self-imposed celibacy and join her on a mutual journey of healing from the tragic legacies of the Atlin family and wars between the nations. Meanwhile, Dorothea’s only friend and deserter from the Sacerian military, Shark Olyen, returns to their homeland to face the family that disowned them and finds more than they bargained for in meeting Cerid Creed, a noble whose duty to his people clashes with his desires in romance and in life, much like Shark’s did long before. As their developing or preexisting loves and differing convictions on how to achieve peace create rifts between these major players, Dorothea experiences a personal revolution that leads her to fight for what she believes is right, no matter the cost. A slow-burn story that takes time setting up the psychology and motivations of characters for explosive payoff later down the line. Cover by Ben Arisson, who is also a wonderful author on this website!
