《Taming the Rogue》Wild Card

I want to kill the teacher, but I'll be shot and killed if I just go into a high security prison and wolf form. In human form I'll be arrested. So basically I have to suck it up and keep watching my sister through the window. She was supposed to wake up two fucking weeks ago, but the stubborn bitch is still fucking napping.
They moved her to the recovery wing last week, so I can be in the room with her more. Demi had to go back to work for a few days before she got fired, but she'll be heading back over as soon as school gets out tomorrow since it'll be Friday.
"Tate," a weak voice mumbled.
I looked down to see Harlow looking back up at me. "It's about fucking time sis." I teased as I teared up. "You've gotta stop with the dancing with death."
"Yeah well, I like to keep you on your toes." Harlow chuckled weakly, but then coughed a little.
"You're lucky you finished the football season with your team literally the Friday before this shit went down, because you're not allowed to get your respiratory rate higher than it is when you're relaxed for a few more weeks." I gave her a weak smile. "Stop smiling at me before you make me cry."
"My bad. I forget that you're a softie." Harlow smirked at me.
"I'm not a softie. You'd be like this too if I kept on nearly dying at twice in a three month time period." I snapped lightly.
"Mhm, right. Go get a doctor please and then text Demi."
I nodded before patting my sister's knee and leaving the room.
Tanner brought me another change of clothes, knowing I won't leave this place till Harlow is at my side, so I'm getting less weird looks from everyone.
Dr Williams smiled at me before noticing the look on my face and excusing the conversation she was having with a nurse and then walked over to me. "Is everything okay?"
"She's awake." I tried to hide my smile, but it hit me when I said it.
"That's awesome!" Dr Williams cheered as she waved for some nurses to follow her to the room Harlow was in.

My hands fished my phone out of my back pocket before texting Demi.
Me: She's awake and talking.
Demi: I'll see you in four hours.
Me: She'll still be awake when you leave tomorrow after school. You don't want to get fired, do you?
Demi: I've been here for four days. The principal said I could leave if she woke up as long as I let her know, so I will see you in four hours.
Me: It's one in the morning.
Demi: So I'll see you at five. Tanner will be there tomorrow around eight in the morning.
I sighed, knowing I wouldn't win this argument, before walking back to the window to watch Harlow.
She was talking to Dr Williams and the nurses as they did basic physical test like asking her to squeeze their fingers and for her to move her legs to see how awake her body is and not just her brain.
"She may be a few weeks off schedule, but she's perfectly healthy from what we can see now. We'll keep her here for a few more days to make sure her lungs can handle her walking and all of that jazz, but after that she'll be free to go home as long as she comes back see us in a month, or sooner if something happens." Dr Williams gave me a warm smile.
"That's great news." I smiled back. "Thank you."
"It's my job, but you're very welcome." She gave me a small smile before walking away.
I ran into the hospital as soon as I locked my car behind myself.
"Where is Harlow Luna Rouge?" I rushed out once I got to the counter.
"I'll need to see some identification before you can go back Miss." The front desk lady looked a bit scared from my frantic gestures.
I handed her my teacher's ID and driver's license. She gave me a pass sticker thing and opened the door for me after telling me what room. Third floor to the left.
Once the elevator doors opened I ran to Harlow's room to see Tate watching her throw the window.
"Right on schedule." Tate didn't turn to face me. "She'll wake back up here in the next few minutes. I told her to get some sleep since she was barely keeping her eyes open after all of the tests."

"Can I go in there?" I practically begged.
"Yeah, I'd just be quiet so she isn't pissy for waking her up." Tate chuckled.
I nodded before walking into the room and gently closing the door behind myself.
A chair sat beside her bed, but I can't sit down right now. I'm so wound up and nervous as if she'll vanish if I touch her.
My hands gently took one of hers and a small smile tugged on her lips.
"If you wanted to hold my hand you could've just asked." Harlow weakly chuckled with her eyes still closed.
Without speaking a word I kissed her forehead, then her nose, then her cheek, and then her lips.
She lightly giggled when I kissed her nose again. I know what to do to make her laugh, and kissing her nose is one of the ways for some reason. She finds it so simple that it cracks her up.
"I knew I shouldn't have gone back to work. With you being the stubborn girl you are you just had to wake up before I got back." I sighed, but the smile on my face wasn't going anywhere.
A small smile tugged on her lips.
"Please don't scare my like that again." I took a deep breath.
"I'll work on dodging the ruler next time." Harlow teased and opened her eyes for a split second to wink at me before closing her eyes again.
"You're ridiculous." I laughed quietly. "I haven't said it to you in four days, so I'll say it now to make up for it. I love you." I kissed her lips again, and this time she lightly kissed back.
"I love you too." She smiled against my lips.
*Four days later*
"Hey hey hey, easy hot shot." I groaned out of frustration when Harlow decided to just get up out of the car after I opened the door for her. She's supposed to be in a wheelchair so she isn't doing much of anything. She isn't even allowed to wheel herself.
"I don't want to be in a wheelchair all day." Harlow whined.
"You won't be. You have to stand and walk around for ten minutes every three hours unless you're sleeping." I shrugged as I got her wheelchair out of the back.
"How do you plan getting the wheelchair up the steps? I've gotta walk. I'm too heavy for you to carry." Harlow looked smug, but then Tate walked out from the backyard.
"Up you go." Tate sighed as he picked his sister up.
"Damnit," Harlow groaned.
I followed the two up the steps with the wheelchair in tow.
Tate set her down on the couch before grabbing an apple and heading back outside to his mini house.
"Do you want to take a shower?" I asked her with a small smile. "I won't cuddle with you till you do, because you smell like rubbing alcohol and pain pills." I chuckled at her facial expression.
"But I want cuddles." Harlow whined.
"Then get in the wheelchair and I'll wheel you to the shower and give you one. No sex Harlow. Don't get worked up either. You face away from me." I pointed at her and she put her hands up.
"You're the one that starts it most of the time." She mumbled as she sat down in the wheelchair.
"Yes, because you are very tempting when you're a whimpering mess." I smirked at her as she blushed.
"You're a mean Mistress." Harlow mumbled and hung her head.
"I'm mean because I said no sex since when you have sex your breathing speeds up more than it does when you're running, and I said for being tempting?" I laughed as I wheeled her to the bathroom.
"I haven't had sex in nearly a month." Harlow whined.
"You were the one that pissed the crazy ass teacher off." I teased.
"She pissed me off first!" She raised her voice which earned a light tap on her arm.
"Don't raise your voice at me." I growled.
"Sorry," Harlow whispered.
I hummed in satisfaction.
She may be a wild card, but she's mine, and she's finally home.

Yin-Yang
Mages in North America seem to have it all – typically from well-off families, and able to manipulate their environment in ways most of the world would never believe. They don’t even have to bother with the mundane details of life like housework, thanks to their sensitives, who also make a useful source for extra magical energy. After all, sensitives have no use for it themselves, and if mages weren’t meant to make use of it, then the sensitives would obviously have some way to prevent that. That a mage can transform a sensitive physically, with no restrictions beyond overall mass and basic biological viability, whereas magic tends not to work directly on any other living thing, is only further proof. And look at the way they live on their own, barely a step above animals. It’s better for them to belong to a mage. Sensitives in North America live on the edge of society and survival – typically so paranoid they avoid hospitals and anything else that could lead to being tracked, many of them with little or no education and no legal identity or existence. Mages exist, and mages want sensitives for some reason, but no one ever comes back to explain what that reason is. Waiting every day for the hunters to notice them doesn’t lead to much motivation or hope for the future. And once they’re captured, they’re the property of someone with a terrifying amount of power over them. Anything is better than capture. Mages are born to be the masters, and sensitives are born victims. Or are they? Jax’s life is turned upside-down when he’s caught by the hunters and sold to a mage. Andreas is still mourning for his previous sensitive, though, unconsciously creating a difficult standard for Jax to live up to, all the more so while still struggling to come to terms with this new reality as Andreas’ sensitive. A runaway sensitive isn’t what Van expects at the mental health centre. Is this a hunter trap, set for him and the rest of the Donovan family by the hunters? The hunters would, after all, love to see them cross the line openly and finally do something they can be charged with. Either way, Miranda’s genuinely in trouble, and he can’t just abandon her to it. Snatching a sensitive out from under the hunters and hiding her is odd behaviour for a mage – but then, Catherine is an odd mage, living in disgrace in the old servants’ quarters of her grandmother’s house, responsible for cooking and housework. Lila owes Catherine her freedom; is there a way to help Catherine achieve her own, and at what price? Tension is building between traditionally-minded mages and those advocating change, and something has to break. *** Yin-Yang includes a small amount of profanity and no graphic sex or on-screen physical violence. However, sex and gender roles and relationships within the mage/sensitive subculture are non-traditional in mainstream North American terms. The key criterion in a primary relationship is not relative sex or gender, but the pairing of mage and sensitive; given the transformation of sensitives by their mages, physical sex is non-absolute for a sensitive, and gender identity can vary as in anyone else. *** *** The way mages treat sensitives is extremely varied and, in some cases is outright abusive. The struggle against that is pretty much the point of the book. It is NOT grimdark or misery-porn! However, if you will be triggered by this, please, don't read Yin-Yang! *** Complete stand-alone novel, 153K words! Also available on Scribble Hub and as a free ebook.

Black Sheep's Freedom
A group of youths is transported to another world governed by a [System]. Their future now lies at a crossroads. For survival, for power, for a way home, a path must be chosen. Will they grasp the inviting hand? Will they set forth unaided, unshackled? Yet the most important choice, however, is where to place their faith. The false worshippers? The oddball in their midst? Or themselves? For free will is precious and the die only rolls once. ----- This is a tale of how a [System] died, but don't tell people that, it is kind of a big spoiler. Although, it is implied from the first few chapters, so it might not be that big of a deal? ----- I'm a novice at writing and the story might have plotholes due to lack of careful planning, but I hope you readers will enjoy the journey as I do enjoy writing this. Not very familiar with the tagging system, so I'm going to take suggestions other than the ones I checked myself, thank you! Updates will be on Monday and Thursday each week. UTC +7
