《Coffee, Brownies and the Ruthless CEO (boyxboy)| FILLING THE VOID series, BOOK 1》16. Chapter - Present and Past

New chapter is finally here! You might think it's just a filler chapter, but it's not. As I said before, it's important to show Josh's and Ollie's relationship too, so I hope you won't be disappointed!
I hope you'll enjoy the chapter! I know it's shorter, but there are bound to be some short and some extra-long chapters - depending on what's currently happening in the story!

OLIVER's POV
The tension in the air was terrible. I knew it would be a complete disaster to tell Kyle and Josh about the situation I found myself in, but this was beyond my imagination. I was glad Matty was at my parents' right now. A year after I left Chicago, they decided to follow me and moved to Boston as well. I was so shocked because they just appeared in front of me one day, telling me we would be almost neighbors, I thought I was dreaming.
"Look," I started, but the murderous stare my brother sent my way, and Josh's lifted hand showing me to shut up was enough to make me stop. I sighed and took a sip of my already lukewarm coffee. I hated lukewarm coffee. The taste of it was just disgusting.
"Oliver, how could you be so stupid to agree to meet him? Are you crazy? He threatened you, for god's sake!" Kyle said, his voice full of contempt and anger.
After the incident all those years ago, my brother considered Victor his number one enemy. Even mentioning his name when he was close by became a big no-no. Thinking back, I should've probably called Dylan or even Melanie. But it was too late now, and I had to deal with the situation as it was.
"It's because he threatened me I agreed. He could ruin me, even you, without breaking a sweat. I can't risk it." Looking straight into his eyes, I smirked.
"That doesn't mean I'll follow his every word as an obedient puppy. I called you for a reason so let me explain what exactly I want to do, okay?"
I looked at Joshua, giving Kyle a clear signal I was finished with him for the moment.
"I know I should've told you what happened right after he left, but I was still in shock, and I needed to deal with it before telling you. I needed to be as calm as possible because I knew you wouldn't be fine with it. Your reaction would just add to my stress, and that was the last thing I needed at that moment. I never planned to keep it from you. Small lies like this can ruin a relationship, and I love you too much to let this come between us. I won't let him ruin my love life again." I smiled, putting my hand on Josh's, caressing it with my thumb.

When he turn his hand up and squeezed mine, a reassuring smile playing on his lips, I knew everything was okay. This man was just perfect.
"Now," I looked from one another, "I called Kyle because I want him to go with me. Before you start protesting against it, let me explain." I looked back at Josh because I knew he wanted to be the one to come with me. He could be nice and all, but he was a jealous type, and knowing I was going to meet my ex would definitely rub him the wrong way.
"I want Kyle to go with me because although he hates Victor, and he will most likely make a scene, having you face him would be much worse. I don't have any desire to talk to him, but I need to, to make him go away. You would end up arguing together, and Victor would probably take it as a challenge so he wouldn't leave."
Turning my attention back to Kyle, I smiled a little because he was throwing me one of his roguish smirks, which meant he was satisfied with the situation so far.
"I don't want to go alone because he pissed me off. He expects me to listen to him just because he's rich, and I don't want to give him that kind of satisfaction. He didn't tell me to come alone, so he can't really complain." I returned Kyle's smirk, but even though I was somehow happy with my plan, deep down, I couldn't help but feel nervous and scared. I hate cheaters, and I don't want to have anything to do with him ever again, but he still looked so handsome it hurt. And there was the matter with Matthias too. I could just hope everything would go smoothly, and he would get out of my life for good.
*****
It was Sunday afternoon, almost 4 P.M., and I was growing more and more nervous. Kyle was supposed to meet me at half past five so we could eat something before heading to meet the dickhead, but with my nerves driving me crazy, I wasn't sure I would be able to swallow anything.
Joshua tried to make my worries go away Saturday night, so we went for a romantic dinner and ended up in a hotel as Matty was still at his grandparents', but all the joy and happiness I felt at that time disappeared the moment I woke up this morning and realized what day it was.
"Ollie, are you okay? You look extremely pale," Josh asked, worries written all over his face. He picked up Matthias before lunch so we could spend the afternoon together as a family, but even though my son was making me feel better, I still couldn't stop thinking about his biological father.

"I will be, don't worry. Everything will end tonight, and we'll be living our happily ever after as a loving family." I smiled, gently stroking my son's hair. We were sitting on the floor in our living room, watching Cars, and Matt was so consumed in the movie he ignored both of us.
"I sure hope so, Ollie. I'm just scared he won't let you go as easily as you think. You're the best thing in the world someone could meet, and he is most likely aware of it. If he wants to see you, he has a reason to, and I would bet my money on the fact he wants you back."
I leaned against his side, looking up at his frowning face. He was adorable.
Smiling, I kissed his shoulder and laid my head on it.
"Even if it's true I don't plan on going back to him. I might be childish, but when I hold a grudge, it takes forever for me to even consider letting it go. It's too soon for him to come to me and expect me to accept him. And even if he came after ten years, I couldn't be more than friends with him. He might be hot, but you're hotter and sweeter, and I love you more than I've ever loved him, so you don't have to be worried about it."
His body suddenly shook, a soft laugher escaping his mouth.
"I don't know if I should feel happy you find me better than him, or be angry because you still think he is hot."
Chuckling, I patted his chest. "Of course the former. I found many men hot, darling. But that doesn't mean I want to have a relationship with them. You are my one and only since you awkwardly told me you loved me when we got stuck in the elevator after our seventh date." I laughed, remembering the moment.
We were just leaving a shopping mall where we were looking for the best present for my brother. On our way to the parking lot in the basement, the elevator we were in got stuck at the fourth floor. The contact button inside didn't work, and we didn't have a signal on our mobile phones so we ended up staying there for over two hours before someone even noticed there was something wrong. There were two elevators and an escalator, so people didn't care to notify anyone as long as they had means to get up and down. We were both scared and nervous, and Joshua decided to confess just in case we wouldn't make it out alive. It was so awkwardly cute all of my worries just disappeared, and I couldn't help but laugh. The poor soul thought I was making fun of him, so his face reddened and he turned away, pouting. Of course I found that to be even more adorable, so I couldn't help but hug him and confess as well. He managed to win my heart over at that time, I was sure I would be able to trust someone again.
"Don't remind me of it, jeez. It was so embarrassing," he groaned, catching Matty's attention. Our little angel turned to us, eyes wide and bright, asking what was wrong.
*****
I wanted to go home. We were standing in front of my shop, waiting for Victor to show up, and the only thing I could think about was my sweet home. This was really a bad idea. How could I agree to this stupidity again? God, I was probably going senile or something.
"The bastard is late," Kyle growled, impatient as ever. It wasn't even seven yet, so he wasn't really late. My brother was just being his normal self, which was kind of annoying at the moment.
"Shut up. Not everyone is the same as you. Majority of people are not stupid enough to come 30 minutes early and expect the other party to come at the same time when they agreed to meet later."
Sighing, I leaned against a streetlamp, looking at the sky. It was pretty cloudy tonight.
"We should've brought umbrellas. It's probably going to rain later on," I said, wondering whether we would make it to our car without getting too wet in case it really rained.
"Damn it, bro. Are you really talking about the weather? How stupid are you, really?"
I looked at Kyle, frowning. He was getting really annoyed, which wasn't good. With his current mood, he would end up arguing with Victor the moment he showed up.
"Shut your mouth. I need some distraction," I mumbled the last part, sighing again. I just wanted this to be over.
And at that moment, Victor decided to show himself, casually walking towards us, his stance going tense the moment he noticed I wasn't alone. It didn't take him long to reach us, his face cold as a stone.
"What the hell is he doing here, Oliver?"
***********************************************************************
Just few days ago, I got called a pedophile for being okay with 17 year olds having sex. What is wrong with people these days?
Anyway...
Who do you want Ollie to end up with?
With his current boyfriend/fiancé Joshua?
With his cheating ex-boyfriend?
With both of them?
Or with someone entirely different/no one?
I'm going to ask this question one more time, when there will be more chapters and the plot will be more developed, but I would like to know for now (and I'm looking forward to see if the aswers now and later on will be different or same)!
Thanks for taking your time to read and comment!
