I was out with Christy since we were grabbing food and going to catch up on things. We were at a small Japanese restaurant waiting for our sushi to come out.

Christy was wearing a black tank top with a black zip of hoodie over it. Christy's dark hair and dark eyes seemed lighter since the sunlight was directly shinning onto her, making it look like she was glowing.

In truth, I really did like Christy. I have for a while now, but she has been in a relationship with Kayla so I attempted to push away all the feelings since I didn't want to intervene with their relationship. However Christy was single now but I still don't want to intervene. Christy is so vulnerable right now since she is hurting; I should not take advantage of the situation and attempt to make her mine, it just isn't right. When the right time comes, I'll make my move but for now, I'll just be her supportive friend.

"So how have you been, Nat?" Christy said, breaking me out of my train of thought.

"Oh I'm good. You know the usual soccer and school stuff. How about you?"

"Oh you know, just hanging on." She said with a small smile.

"How are you and Kayla?" I asked softly.

"We're friends, I still have feelings for her but I don't know if I want to act on them."

I shuffled in my seat uncomfortably for a moment. "I'll support you no matter what decision you make."

Christy gave me a wide smile and placed her hand on top of me. "You're always here for me, I cannot thank you enough for that. You mean so much to me and you're a great friend. Enough about me, how's your love life? Finally accept the fact you're gay yet?"

"Well I thought about it and..."

"And?" She leaned closer to me.

"I think I may be into girls."

"Yes!" Christy threw her hands up in the air. "I finally have another gay buddy. I'll hook you up with this real nice girl. She plays basketball also, she'll love you."

Oh great she was setting me up with someone. Oh well maybe it'll be good, maybe I'll like her and forget about the feelings I have for Christy.

"Oh! And did I tell you that I kind of want to start a band?" Christy excitedly told me.

I was taken back by her comment and I didn't know what to say for a moment. "A band?! I didn't know you were into music like that. What would you play in the band?"

"I know but it's always been a small dream of mine to play in a band. I'm sure I can do both basketball and be in a band." Christy said proudly. "Also, I would sing."

"Damn I see you. What type of music do you want to sing?" I asked curiously, this was a side of Christy I had never seen before.

"Pop punk for sure or pop rock."

"Have you got any members yet?"

"Uh well I met these three guys at this concert I was at a few weeks ago. They were interested but I haven't texted them about anything yet."

"What instruments do they play?"

"Bass, guitar, and drums."

I let out a laugh. "Christy you got the whole band right there already!"

"I know I know. But we're missing stuff like a manager and-"

I placed my hand on top of hers to calm her down. "It'll be fine Christy. I'll give you a hand if you need someone to help you with behind the scenes stuff."

"Thanks Natalie. You're the best."

After our meal, we were walking to this place that sold bubble tea which was a 10 minute walk and it gave us some more time to chat.

"You don't have to answer this, but what's the main reason that you won't get back with Kayla?" I asked softly.

"No it's fine, I trust you. It's trust. I don't want her cheating on me again and I don't know if I can trust her with my heart again."

"Yeah I totally understand. I can see your point."

"So why are you single? You're a pretty good looking girl, anyone would be lucky to have you." Christy said with a giggle while lightly shoving me.

"No one seems to catch m eye." I lied.

"Damn Ms. High Standards here." Christy teased.

"Not even I-"

Suddenly a big German Shepard is running toward us with a tongue out. It jumps on top of me and starts licking my face.

"No!! Dane down boy!" A voice said as I feel the huge dog getting pulled off me. "I'm so sorry madam."

I look up from the ground and I see a rather pale girl looking down at me with a slight embarrassed face. Her face was flushed red and she was giving me a small smile. She stuck her hand to help me up and Christy was just laughing at me.

"I'm so sorry I don't know what came over him." The girl explained.

I looked at the girl and she was wearing a black diamond hoodie and some khakis. Her hair was a light brown that looked little red and I could tell she was mixed right away. I looked down and saw she also had a little chubby corgi next to her who was wagging their tail furiously with its tongue out.

"It's cool, I love dogs anyways." I said as I bent down and pet the dog.

"I'm Sophia by the way. Sorry again for that incident."

"Natalie, and no it's fine. Did you by any chance get Dane at the Northern California Family Dog Rescue?"

Sophia's jaw dropped and she stared at me. "Yeah I did how did you know?!"

I laughed a bit before petting Dane. "I had an internship there a while back and Dane was just a little baby when I took care of him. He was just abandoned on the highway when we took him in."

"No way! Dude that's so cool. Thank you for helping my baby." Sophia said as she knelt down and kissed Dane. "If there's anything I could do as an apology, just let me know."

"No I-"

"She'll gladly take your number." Christy said.

We both turned to face Christy who was standing and on her phone and she didn't even look up. She glanced up at us and raised an eyebrow. "What? Obviously y'all should go on a date together or something. You gay Sophia?"

Sophia turned red again and nodded her head.

"I'm sorry you don't have to-"

"No I'd love to actually. You seem like a nice girl and I'd totally love to get you know you better." Sophia said while looking up at me. She was only slightly shorter than I was and she was giving me a sweet smile.

"Really?"

Dane barked happily as if he was saying yes for her.

"Yes, so give me your phone."

I handed her my phone and she put in her number and handed me my phone back. "See you later and call me!" Sophia said while walking away.

"You're welcome." Christy said with a smirk.

I was kind of jealous that Natalie finally found someone because I know that Sophia girl will be treated like a princess and spoiled to the max. I was happy for Natalie though, she deserves to be happy.

I decided to get Kayla a drink too and drop it off at her house. We haven't talked much in the past few days and I decided it would be good to just hang out.

I knocked on her door and when Kayla answered, she was just wearing a sports bras and some Nike pros. It was obvious she was working out even though she had practice earlier today. Damn talk about dedication.

"Come in." Kayla said happily as she saw my drink.

"Working out even after practice?" I say as I set the drink on the coffee table.

"I really want that championship." Kayla said as she stuck the straw through the drink and took a sip.

"You'll get it for sure. You guys have been working so hard."

Kayla smiled at me, "Thanks. But I gotta put in work everyday. Will you be at the game?"

"Of course! When is it?"

Kayla sat down on the couch next to me. "Friday."

"4 days away! I'll definitely be there."

"I expect a poster." She said playfully. She handed me her drink and I took a sip from it.

"Yeah yeah yeah. My friends and I were thinking about making shirts that resembled jerseys as a cute way to support." I said as I handed the drink back to her.

"You guys don't have to do that, just get one of the girls' soccer shirts or hoodies and wear em at the game. I can contact them if you want."

"Really?! That'd be great, thanks Kayla!"

"No problem." She she said with a smile.

"So who's soccer gear will I be wearing?" I asked in a slightly serious tone, seeing if I could tease her.

Kayla's head shot up and she shoots me a death glare.

I decide to tease her more. "I was thinking Natalie's gear, what about you?"

Kayla's jaw clenched as she stared at me but then she seemed to relax a bit. "If that's whose gear you want to wear, then go ahead." She said calmly.

"I'm just joking, Kay. Of course I'll wear your gear." I said as I playfully shoved her.

Kayla then smiled widely. It was probably the widest smile I've seen her smile in a long time.

"Thanks Christy." Kayla said as she placed her hand on top of mine.

"I should get going, it is a school night." I said as I stood up, breaking the body contact.

"Yes of course, I'll walk you out."

We headed to the door and I said goodbye as I started to walk toward my house.

"Wait, do you want a ride?"

"No it's fine, the weather is nice and I'll just take the bus so I can spend some time outside." I said as I kept walking.

When I went home, I sat on the couch and started watching TV.

Steph walks into the room and sees me and also sits down to watch TV. "Where have you been?"

"Kayla's."

Steph's head shot toward me. "Kayla's?"

"Yes Steph Kayla's." I said as I rolled my eyes.

"I don't want you getting hurt again."

"I know, I can take care of myself."
