Dinner was awkward. 

Let me rephrase that.

Dinner is still awkward.

All five of us were just sitting there eating dinner while Steph, Maddie, and Katelyn basically gave death glares at Kayla.

Kayla cleared her throat, "Um this lasagna is really good. How'd you make it?"

"Actually we got this for free since the restaurant gave us the wrong order but I think we shouldn't have taken it back." Maddie says and then coughs and stares at Kayla for a second.

"Did anyone try the chicken though? I thought the chicken was lovely." I said trying to change the topic.

"Ah yes the chicken was lovely. Good job at the chicken Steph." Katelyn says, obvious of what Maddie is trying to say.

"Thanks baby. I can't believe we've been together for 2 years baby. 2 years long and faithful." Steph says with a fake smile.

I look over at Kayla and she looks like she wants to cry. She doesn't look happy at all and I could tell she felt ashamed. I go over and grab her hand to reassure her and sort of apologize mentally.

Sure Kayla fucked up and cheated on me but that doesn't give Steph and Maddie the right to do this to Kayla.

Right?

"The salad was quite lovely too." I say trying to divert the conversation again.

"Christy you don't eat salad." Steph says while glancing at me curiously.

I sighed and put my fork down. "I know you guys don't like that Kayla made the mistake she did but I don't think that you should all be taking it all on her. I mean I chose to take her back and it's not fair you're treating her like this."

There was a moment of silence before Kayla spoke up. "Christy you don't have to-"

"I want to. I need to also. You deserve to be treated fairly. Everyone makes mistakes." 

Steph sighed. "She's right. Kayla I may not like you for what you did and I'll probably never forgive you for it but you don't deserve to be treated like that. I'm sorry Kayla."

"I'm sorry too." Maddie muttered without looking up, picking at her food.

Kayla smiled a silent thank you for me.

"So Kayla, you won the championship for the school again I heard." Katelyn says, purposely catching the attention of Steph.

"You did?" Steph asks as her head shoots up to look at her.

"Uh yeah. I scored the last goal." Kayla says, slightly turning red from embarrassment. 

"You mean the winning goal. Tell me about it." Steph says, obviously deeply interested.

"Uh I just scored it after the 88th minute and it was all over."

"She was great." I added in. "The player who played with the most heart out there by far."

"Impressive. Gotta let me see that tape." Steph said as she finished up her salad.

"Are you guys back together officially?" Maddie asks out of the blue.

Kayla looks at me and I look back, unsure myself.

"Ummm well I don't think official, but we're together." I said cautiously. 

"I see." Maddie says and just eats her food.

"Thank you for the meal guys. It was great. Thank you for allowing me to have dinner with you guys again." Kayla said happily.

"You're very welcome." Steph says with a small smile.

"Can we go out for a walk?" I ask as I stood up.

"I don't see why not." Steph says and Kayla and I walk to my room.

We grab some hoodies and then we start walk out of the house.

"Thank you so much for doing that." Kayla said as we walked down the street.

"No problem. Anything for you." 

"Come here." Kayla says as she pulls me into a kiss.

Our lips are pressed together and we kiss for a while before she pulls away. Then I hug her and she wraps her arms around me in response.

"Come on let's get some food." I say as I pull apart after giving her another quick kiss.

"You always want to eat." Kayla says as she playfully rolls her eyes.

"I know, I love eating. Especially sweets." 

"I got something sweet that you can eat." Kayla says seductively.

"Oh yeah? What?" I ask innocently, deciding to play along.

"I know this really good crepe place near here." Kayla grabs my hand and starts walking.

This teasing little piece of shit, I swear to god.

We walk in silence for a few blocks and we just enjoy each other's presence. 

"I'm sorry that I fucked up Christy." Kayla tells me.

I don't say anything but I still hold her hand and decide to listen to what she has to say.

"I love you with all I am and I can't imagine not being with you. I'm not gonna screw this up again. You mean so much to me and I can't forgive myself for doing that to you. I can't imagine how I will be if I ever do it again, which is why I won't." 

I stop walking and turn to face her. "I'm trusting you to not hurt me again." 

"I won't." 

"You're a dork you know that?" I say as I pull the hood on top of her. I grab her hand and continue to walk.

She laughs and kisses me on the forehead.

When we get to the crepe place, I'm baffled by the amount of options available. 

"I don't know what to get, there's so much that I want." I complain to Kayla.

"Well you can have some of mine. Like a bite or two." She says with a smile.

"Okay! Thanks babe. What do you want? Or were planning to order?" 

"I kind of want the ice cream and Nutella one." She tells me.

"Okay and I want the red velvet one." 

We walk up to the counter and the lady greets us.

"Hi could I have an ice cream crepe with Nutella and strawberries? Vanilla ice cream please. " Kayla says with a smile.

"Hey, could I have a red velvet crepe with strawberry ice cream?" 

"That'll be $11.65." The lady says nicely.

I reach out to pay my half but by the time I get my money out, Kayla is already signing the receipt. 

"Kayla, I could've paid for my crepe." 

"I know. But I wanted to pay." Kayla says with a smile.

We sit down and wait for our crepes to be prepared. We go on our phones since although we both loved each other's company, we were still fine with silence and doing our own thing while we were with each other.

"A Nutella crepe and a red velvet crepe?" A worker says holding up two crepes.

Kayla gets up and grabs both crepes and brings it to the table.

I thank her and take a bite. I was honestly kind of disappointed in the crepe since I expected a lot more but then I decided to be polite and not say anything.

"How is yours?" Kayla asks.

"It's good. Want to swap?"

Kayla and I swap crepes and I take a bite out of her crepe and it is so good.

"Oh my god! Yours is so good." I say as I take another bite.

"I know it is. Here give it back." She says as she hands back my crepe.

"Can we swap crepes?"

"No."

"But Kayla I like yours better." 

"Well you should've ordered mine then." Kayla said as she took back her crepe.

So there I sat, eating a crepe that I was okay with. It wasn't too bad, but I liked Kayla's crepe a lot better and I was kind of upset because she wouldn't trade with me. 

Yeah I know, I'm pretty spoiled when it comes to Kayla. 

So it shouldn't be my fault when I'm upset when I don't get what I want around her, right?

No I'm just spoiled, I need to learn to accept no from her.

We finish our crepes and we get up to leave, but the girl stops us before we can leave the shop.

"Hey!" She says and we both turn. "I was wondering if I could get your number?" She says to Kayla with a smile.

I stare at Kayla and I suddenly feel extremely possessive. I stand closer to her and wrap my arm around her. It catches the girl's eye but she ignores it to look back up at Kayla.

"Um, I'm flattered but I'm with someone right now." She says as she wraps her arm around me.

"Oh okay. Sorry I didn't know. If you ever need anyone or if you're feeling lonely you could..."

"No I'm good thank you." Kayla says as she turned and headed for the door. She opens the door for me and I step out before she does the same.

Seeing Kayla turn down that girl in front of me made me happy and sort of gave me reassurance and more trust in Kayla.

"You're my girl." I say outside the shop and pull her into a kiss.

"I know, that's why I rejected that offer." Kayla says with a smile.

I start to walk and expect Kayla to follow but instead she hugs me from behind and refuses to let me go.

I don't mind that she doesn't let go since it feels so good to be in her arms.

Maybe things are starting to fall into place again.
