《Crossroads (Lesbian Stories)(gxg)》Chapter 41: Rumors

Like anything that happens in high school, people find out.
It was obvious that neither me, Maddie, or Steph would tell anyone, so that either left Jesse or Kayla.
My bet was on Jesse.
The whole school knew about the incident, but like any other game of telephone, the story was all crumbled and the details were either insanely wrong, or completely outrageous.
There was one where Jesse pull out a gun to save the day (I wonder who came up with that one), one where I beat up Kayla, one where there was no fight at all, just an intense argument, and one where Kayla was planning to sue my family.
I'm not sure if Kayla is trying to get a hold of me since I blocked her on every single form of communication already. Everything involving her has been deleted off my phone and so has every piece of her on my social media. I do not want anything to do with Kayla anymore.
I avoided Kayla the best I could, which was not easy since I had class with her. I was in there to learn, so I did my best to stay focus and get in and out of the class the best I could.
As I walked toward the class, the chatter of students died down as they realized that this was the first time Kayla and I saw each other after the incident.
I made eye contact with Kayla for a brief moment and saw that her eyes were red, presumably from crying, and she was not wearing any make up. Her lip was swollen but looks like it has been treated and was healing properly
I broke the eye contact and sat down and prepared myself for the lesson.
The lesson dragged on and was boring. I kept my eyes glued to the front since I felt Kayla's eyes staring at me.
During the end of the period, I struggled with the exit slip but was relieved when I looked up and saw I was the only one left and that Kayla wasn't waiting for me.
I got up to turn in the slip and walked out of the class.
With my luck, I should've known that Kayla was waiting for me outside the class.

"Can we talk?" She asked softly while clutching her books tightly.
"Nope." I said on the spot and did not hesitate once.
I walked straight to my locker and put in all my books and binders in and slammed the door shut.
I was honestly so confused and furious that Kayla wanted to talk. What does she have to talk about? How it was an accident? How she didn't mean it? How she wanted yet ANOTHER chance? How it was nothing?
I headed straight toward the gym to shoot around.
After years and years of basketball, it still remained the only thing that could clear my mind and calm me down when I was dealing with something.
Then I heard the shoot open and close.
I didn't look at who was there and continued shooting.
"Your form has gotten better. Commit to a college yet?" The voice said.
Without even looking I knew it was my coach. He's stood by me for the past four years of basketball. Sort of like a father figure.
"Nope." I released my shot and it swished perfectly through the hoop, hitting the back of the rim and came back toward me.
"I heard UCLA offered you a full ride after that title game." He said as he sat down on the bleachers.
"Yeah they did." I pulled up for another shot.
"Too strong." My coach said right after my release, the ball bounced off the top of the rim and bounced away. "Have you thought about going there? They're an upcoming contender."
"Yeah but I don't know."
"Is it because Kayla will probably go there?" He got up and I passed the ball to him.
I didn't say anything and waited for him to shoot the ball which banked in. I got the rebound and passed it back to him.
"You shouldn't let her prevent you from going to a good school, just like how you shouldn't make your decision based on her. I know you want to go far and all but UCLA could possibly go against UConn in the Final Four with their recent signings. You know Ally Sessions signed with them. You know Ally right?"

"Oh yeah, I know Ally." I said with a smirk.
He rolled his eyes. "Whatever happened between you and her, leave it. Don't keep beating that dead horse. Don't think she's your high school sweetheart or whatever and that you're going to marry her. I mean I'm in the generation with all these high school sweethearts that got married and my friends are divorcing left and right. Do what makes you happy."
"Thanks coach." I said with a smile.
"You're welcome. And remember to eat." He pointed his finger at me as he walked toward the exit. He stopped right before he was about to exit. "And whenever you go, I'll support you and I'll be sure to watch at least one of your games. He pushed the door open and left the gym.
The talk I had with my coach really made me think about where I wanted to go. Sure I had some time left to make my decision, but I was already lagging behind many top recruits who have already committed to a college. My impending commitment was the talk of college sports, with articles popping up almost daily about someone giving a reporter a "lead" that I was leaning toward a school.
I thought about it for the rest of the day, about which college I wanted to go. But as I thought more and more, it was simplified to the question of 'how far do I want to go' and 'which school would I fit best with'.
I had no idea how other players made their decisions so quickly, maybe they had a dream school or something, but I had none of it.
I was sort of...afraid of commitment now. Afraid of making the wrong choice in fear that picking the wrong school would have to put me through the process of a transfer which meant I had to sit out for a period of time.
After school, I decided to call up someone to meet up with them somewhere.
We decided to meet a diner close to the mall and I ubered there.
When I walked into the diner, they were already there.
"Hey! How are you?" Ally said as she hugged me.
"Could be better." I said with a small smile.
"Let's sit," Ally said motioning toward a table. "So what's been up?"
"You haven't heard?" I said with a bit of curiosity, news travels fast in our town.
"I did, but I didn't want to jump you with the question. Besides its not my place to speak about it."
I smiled. Someone with respect of my privacy. "Thank you. That's not what I called you here for though."
"Let me guess, it's because you haven't signed with anyone yet?"
"Yes! How'd you know?"
Ally rolled her eyes at me. "Everyone knows. Everyone talks about it."
A waitress came by with water and we both ordered sweet potato fries.
"Sweet potato fries huh?" I asked.
"They're delicious."
"Agreed." I took a sip of my water before speaking again. "So what made you pick UCLA?"
"Well one, I love LA, and two, it's far from home, but not too far."
"Sounds exactly what I'm looking for." I exhaled deeply and looked down.
"So what's holding you back?"
I sighed deeply, not ready to admit it. "Kayla." I forced out.
"She signed with them?" Ally said curiously. "Did they offer you full ride?"
I nodded. "I don't know. I feel like I'm being dumb basing my decision on her."
"Well you are." She said flatly.
I looked up at her and saw her smile.
"You're an amazing athlete, Christy. I think you'd fit into UCLA greatly and that's not because I think we would play well together, but for your own sake."
The fries arrived and we both took a fry and ate it.
"You think I would fit their style?"
"I know so. If you don't think you would, you can come by my house. My family made me tapes of them along with other colleges who offered me scholarships.
"Really? You'd be willing to let me watch the film?" I said excitedly.
"Yeah come on. Let's take these fries to-go."
