"Ashley, get dressed." Elena says, walking into my room.
"Why?" I ask. "I was hoping to sleep in today and not wake up early." I whine.
"We're going to Tennessee." Elena says and I stand up.
"Absolutely not. Did you forget about the part where Klaus thinks we are still dead?" I ask. "If Klaus finds any of us he'll kill us this fast. I'll rather live, already died once."
"I already convinced Alaric to take us." Elena replies.
"He left us—"
"No, he stayed with us all summer and since we are capable of taking care of ourselves, he backed up. You hold too many grudges Ash." Elena interrupts me.
"Fine. If Klaus catches us it's on you." I say. "If Stefan's with him. How do you know he's still in Tennessee?" I ask.
"Caroline's mom tracked where the phone call was. It's from Tennessee and Tyler told me where wolves are in Tennessee." Elena explains.
"Elena. You know tonight's a full moon, right?" I ask.
"Yes, but we will be out of there way before. If we leave now." Elena says.
"Fine. I'll come." I respond and Elena smiles.
—
"In a couple hours, the full moon's gonna rise just above that ridge. If Tyler's right, that's where the pack will be." Alaric explains to me and Elena.
"You were a Boy Scout, weren't you?" Elena asks. "A Boy Scout, slash vampire slayer."
"Slash whiskey-drinking all-around lost cause." Alaric says and Elena just laughs it off and so does Alaric. Alaric opens his bag and has a bunch of weapons.
"You came prepared." I mention.
"Well, we aren't exactly bird-watching. Here. Put that in your bag." Alaric hands Elena wolfsbane grenades. "And you can hold this." Alaric hands me a cross-bow.
"I still don't trust myself with this." I say.
"You should. You know how to protect yourself." Alaric says closing his backpack.
"Well, since we're exchanging gifts..." Elena pulls out the Gilbert ring. Her and Alaric fight over who should have it, which was really knowing.

"Ric, just borrow it for now, and when we leave this hellhole of a swamp you give it back." I suggest and Alaric finally takes the ring.
"I don't know why you think you're a lost cause—" Elena stops, and screams from someone pushing her into the water way below where we were standing.
"Damon!" Elena shouts. "How are you even here?"
"Thanks for the tip, brother." Damon says.
"You sold us out." Elena replies.
"Think I'd take you to a mountain range of werewolves on a full moon without backup?" Alaric asks.
"I didn't want to come by the way." I tell Damon and he nods, already knowing that.
"Figured." Damon says. "Get out of the water, Elena." Damon tells Elena.
"If I get out of the water, you're gonna make me go home." Elena responds
"Yes, because I'm not an idiot like you." Damon says annoyed.
"Right now, you're both acting like idiots." Alaric says, crossing his arms.
"You have up on him, Damon." Elena tells Damon.
"I didn't give up on him, Elena. I face reality. Now get out of the water." Damon says and Elena says no. "What's your big plan, Elena? Huh? You gonna walk into a campsite full of werewolves, roast a marshmallow, and wait for Stefan to stop by?" Damon goes into the water, pissed and Elena and Damon look at each other, not like ever before.
"I don't like how close they are getting." Alaric tells me.
"Same. I'll talk to her later." I say and Damon and Elena finally get out of the water.
—
"We got about a mile left." Alaric mentions.
"The sun's about to set." Damon says.
"Can we go back home?" I ask. "What if Klaus is there?" I ask.
"Stefan's with Klaus so the chance of Klaus finding out you guys are alive is 98%. You have us little Sommers, no need to get scared of big bad hybrid." Damon smirks and i roll my eyes.

"The moon doesn't reach its apex for a while. We have time." Elena says and we all stop, from a twig snapping. We see a guy come out with blood on him.
"He's a werewolf." I mumble.
"Vampire." The guy says going to attack Damon. He had to speed of a vampire, which only meant one thing... hybrid.
"Damon!" Elena throws wolfsbane grenade for Damon to aim at the man, which worked.
"Not a werewolf. A hybrid." Damon says pissed. "Ash, you know Alaric gave you that cross bow to use it, right?" Damon tells me.
"Back off Damon. Ash is scared. And we're in the woods which isn't helping." Elena says.
"This is your idea to come out here on a full moon. Ric, get out the ropes." Damon tells Alaric and he ties the guy to the tree. "These ropes aren't gonna hold. What else do we have?"
"Ric, here. Take these." Elena says and Damon goes to take the ropes, but Elena drenched them in vervain, making Damon scream. "I said Ric." Elena says which makes me laugh.
The guy wakes up and bones start cracking and he starts to scream.
"Is he turning?" Damon asks.
"It's impossible. It's still daylight." Elena states.
"Tell him that." Alaric replies. "You know, those ropes aren't gonna hold the wolf."
"Damon, we got to get out of these mountains!" Elena shouts. "Damon, now!" Elena says and we all run.
—
It's dark out and we have been running and Elena falls. "Elena!" I shout.
"Ashley, shh." Damon tells me, as we see the wolf by Elena. "Here, Doggie, Doggie." Damon says running away and the wolf following him, which was his plan.
"We got to go." Alaric says.
"We can't leave Damon. He'll get bit and die, almost for the second time." I say.
"Ashley, it's dark out and it's a full moon right now." Alaric says.
"I don't care. We can't leave Damon, he wouldn't do that to us." I say walking away.
"Ashley!" Elena shouts. "You'll get lost!"
"I'll be ok Elena. I need to find him though." I respond.
"Why is she so stubborn?" Alaric asks Elena as i run away to find Damon.
—
I've been walking and I heard a twig snap, again. I saw Damon, which I was about to call out his name, but someone runs in front of me.
"Stefan?" It was Stefan. He was covered in blood.
"Why are you out here alone?" Stefan asks.
"Well, I was trying to find Damon, and I did until you came in front of me." I cross my arms.
"Ash, you got to go. It's not safe here! Klaus is right on the other side of these trees. Klaus can't make hybrids, it's because you and Elena are still alive, once he sees you he'll know why." Stefan says, still wanting to protect me. "Let me guess, your stubbornness got in the way."
"Yeah, now I'm gonna—"
"Who's out there?!" We hear Klaus yell. "I know you're out there, I'll kill you either way." Klaus shouts. "Stefan, what'd you find!" Klaus shouts, in which all we hear is his accent.
Stefan looks at me and grabs my arm.
"No." I whisper shout. "No, no, no. Please." I try to resist him exposing me to Klaus, but it didn't work. He's too strong.
"Found an unexpected surprise." Stefan tells Klaus and Klaus furrows his eyebrows.
"Now I know why it's not working. You're suppose to be dead. I should kill you." Klaus speeds up to me, which makes me jump.
"If you kill me nothing will change." I quickly say and Klaus just chuckles.
"I wasn't going to kill you, relax. At least not before you know who you really are. Then there's a good chance I will kill you." Klaus says and my heart started beating faster, then everything went dark from Klaus making me pass out.

Professor Pierre Aronnax, a French marine biologist (and narrator within the story) receives a last-minute invitation to join the expedition. As the expedition travels south around Cape Horn into the Pacific Ocean, the crew finds the monster after a long search and then attack it, but the ship is damaged with the three main protagonists thrown into the water.
