《Tokyo Ghoul X reader OneShots》If I Was A Ghoul | Shirazu Ginshi

A/N: This was requested by @YanskieLuixx
You know how like in the first chapter of :Re Shirazu's pictured as like this super creepy/ crazy guy killing a ghoul with just his feet for fun and honestly that downright scared me?? Well this is the kind of Ginshi we're having at some point here because they requested a bit of angst (but not for long bc Ginshi's a softie once it comes to his partner ;P).
"Hey Ginshi?" You asked, tilting your head to glance at your boyfriend who was sitting next to you on the couch. "I got a question for you."
The shark boy paused the show he was watching to give you his full attention. "Shoot."
"If I was a ghoul, would you be able to kill me?" You asked nonchalantly. Of course, somewhere deep inside of you, you knew the risks of Ginshi finally realizing that the question was more than just your simple curiosity, but you hoped that since you're playing it cool, he wouldn't notice a thing. You hoped you had good acting skills.
"What do you mean, 'able to kill you'? Because no offense but I'm sure I could take you down in a fight, (Y/N)." The man said, giving you a toothy grin. You rolled your eyes at his remark.
"No, I mean would you have the courage to kill me? For example, if you were a ghoul, I don't think I'd be able to kill you. I wouldn't want to kill the one I love and I'd probably let you eat me instead of having to kill you, to be honest." You said, your words shocking Shirazu.
"Well, I-- Uh... I don't know, it's sorta my job... But... If you were a ghoul, you wouldn't kill people for fun, right?"
"Of course not."
"Then... I guess... Uh..." He seemed extremely uncomfortable with the question and you regretted asking him.
"Hey, chill. It was just for fun, but if you don't want to answer it, you don't have to!" You assured, grabbing his hand. "Must be tougher to answer since you're an actual CCG investigator, so I don't mind not getting my answer." You assured, giving him a warm smile.
"It's not like I'll have to make that choice anyways." The boy answered before leaning into you, wrapping his arms around your waist, pressing his face against your shoulder and pressing the 'play' option on the remote to keep watching the show on TV.
"Right, so no need to worry." You casually agreed, although you were thoroughly scared of his lack of positive answer.
You could only pray that he was right and it would never come to that.
••••
"I seriously hate you guys right now!" You exclaimed as you and your two friends were running away from the CCG investigator that caught them eating. "Oh, come hunt with us in the 1st ward they said, it's safe and better than suicide victims they said, don't worry, we'll take someone who deserved it they said, it'll be fun they said !" You mocked, leading the two bloody ghouls through the alleyways of Tokyo. "Now look where we're at!"
"Can't we just kill him?" One of your friends asked, making you scoff.
"Do you have a death wish?" You retorted. "That would one, bring more attention to us and two, go against my promise to not hurt any living humans! We are not hurting the investigator."

"But he'll kill us!" The second one exclaimed before crying out in pain and falling on the ground. Apparently she was right...
"Holy shit, it's a ghoul!" Your remaining friend shouted. A ghoul? No, of course not, unless it's Haise, but... A Quinx? Shit, that's probable. You had to get out of here and quick while your mask was still intact and your identity was still well hidden.
Deciding not to answer your friend out of fear that the quinx (or Sasaki) would recognize your voice, you took a sharp turn to the left, soon realizing that it was the biggest mistake you'd ever make.
You skidded to a stop five meters away from the tall wall blocking you and effectively destroying your last hopes of surviving this night.
"Shit." Your friend hissed. "Listen, we gotta kill him. We'll die if we don't." He said, looking back to the investigator who was closing in on the two of you. "Hey, we gotta. Don't just stare at the wall--" His comment was cut short when something propelled him into the wall, emitting a loud 'splat' noise when he came in contact with the brick surface, causing you to cringe.
"Hey, watcha gonna do now?" The investigator mocked, making you to tense up. That voice... The kagune... Of course it would be him.
This just wasn't your day, was it?
"Aren't you gonna fight me? Beg for your life like they would've done?" He apparently tossed something your way (you assumed it was your other friend's body), but you refused to face him. Mask or no mask, you had no idea if you wanted to see him before he killed you.
"C'mon, it'll be boring if you don't. I got someone at home waiting for me to brag about it!" He whined. Oh, how wrong he was... No one was waiting for him at home since you were right in front of him. "Oi. Answer!"
"That someone at home." You started, attempting to change the pitch of your voice. You decided you might have a better chance at escaping if you didn't piss him off, so answering might be better than ignoring him.
"So they do speak." Ginshi said with fake amazement. "What about 'em?" Apparently, you were doing a good job at masking your voice. Hell, the mask might even be helping that. If you live, you'd make sure to give Uta your thanks.
"If they were a ghoul, would you kill them?" You asked, turning around to check his reaction. Apparently, you said the right thing because Ginshi looked absolutely terrified right now. Whether it was because he recognized you or is just spooked that you said something familiar like that, you didn't know yet. You supposed you'd find out pretty soon.
"What the fuck..." He muttered, suspiciously eyeing you. "Are you a fucking stalker?"
Ah, so he still didn't know.
"Would you?" You insisted, your heart pouding so loudly against your rib cage that you wondered if he could hear it. It's not like you shouldn't feel this way. After all, your fate depended on how well you phrase your thoughts and sentences.
"I-- No, of course I wouldn't." He growled, holding his quinque tighter in his hands while the kagune on his back seemed to angrily pulse behind him.
"Then what makes me any different from them?" Those words were more literal than he thought they were.
"Because you're a ghoul! Are you stupid?" He exclaimed, scowling at you.

"But they would be a ghoul too, and you'd spare them but not me?" You were really impressed by how calm you could pretend you were right now, considering the fact that you were absolutely terrified of Shirazu at the moment.
"Shut up!" He yelled, leaping forwards to attack you. Alright then, you said the wrong things apparently. "Your stupid philosophy's really fucking annoying!"
You dodged the swing of his quinque, backing up from him as he tried to hit you again and again, apparently forgetting the fact that he had a kagune on his back ready to be used. Not that you'd remind him, you were completely fine with dodging just the quinque.
In fact you were also completely fine with not dying or getting recognized altogether.
After getting a close call with the dangerous blade, you felt something hard hit your back, causing your heart to completely stop beating. It seems you were stuck between your boyfriend and the wall.
Unless... No. You wouldn't kill him. You vowed to never harm living humans and you'd keep that promise until your death. You won't even hurt him.
Thoughts raced through your head at 100 kilometres per hour as you watched the quinque loom above you, ready to strike down at any instant.
Through your mask, you gazed at Shirazu's crazed expression. You had never seen him look so deranged and dear lord do you wish it could have stayed that way.
Should you take off your mask right now? Because he deserved to at least know who he's killing... Should you keep it on to make sure he doesn't hesitate and let him take it off of you once your body laid limp in a pool of your own blood?
As the quinque approached you furthermore, your survival instincts kicked in before you could stop them. Covering your head with your arms, you let out a loud screech as you fell to your knees. "Wait!"
There goes your plan of letting him kill you without feeling like you betrayed him.
The quinque stopped a few centimetres above your head and you nearly didn't have the willpower to look up. Nearly. But you still did, much to your regret.
As you glanced up, your heart was crushed by the look of pure fear on Ginshi's face. You hated seeing him like this.
"Don't... Don't kill me, please." You mumbled, shaking like a leaf. "Please."
The weapon looming above you started shaking.
"Why... Why do you sound like them..?" The man shakily asked as he tightened his grip on his quinque. He damn well knew that this could all be a trick to fool him, but there was always the smallest possibility that it wasn't, and that's what scared him the most.
You sighed, deciding that enough was enough. In the end, it would come down to it. You slid your mask off your face, trying your hardest to keep eye contact with the terrified man towering above you.
Once he took in your facial features, the quinque he held was dropped onto the floor. Ginshi was thrown off by the wave of feelings that came crashing down on him. "What's going on?" He muttered, nervously chuckling. "Is... Is this a prank?"
You shook your head at his words, kakugan springing to life to prove him that he was wrong. "I'm sorry that you have to make that decision." You weakly said, trying your best not to cry. What ever happened now was up to Ginshi.
If I was a ghoul, would you be able to kill me?
Would he? Of course not, he loves you too much, but he had to, no? It was his job and harbouring or hiding a ghoul could get both of you killed.
'But that's only if you get caught.' A side of him kept saying.
Should he risk it? Should he drop everything for you? What would happen to him? What if you decide to kill him when he lets his guard down? What would happen to his sister? He can't keep paying for her treatments if he's dead... Who's to say this wasn't all some act you were putting up to survive and kill him later? He used to trust you, he used to think that he could trust you with his life, but now that you were a ghoul-- What was he saying?
Ghoul or not, you were still (Y/N), his (Y/N). He should be the first to know that some ghouls are trust worthy, like Sassan, but Sassan had been brainwashed, and you weren't... Who's to say you're like Sasaki?
No one could tell, not even him. Right now, the fate of two lives rested in his hands and Shirazu had no idea what he should do. What was the right thing? On one side, he loves you to the moon and back and deep down, he knows that he's incapable of killing you, but on the other, if he doesn't, he could get killed himself.
If you were a ghoul, I don't think I'd be able to kill you. I wouldn't want to kill the one I love and I'd probably let you eat me instead of having to kill you, to be honest.
Shirazu doesn't want to kill the one he loves either. Your words were true, he would much rather have you kill and eat him instead.
You nervously watched as Ginshi struggled to come up with his next move. The longer he stood there, unresponsive, the more anxious you were getting. None of the scenarios here appealed to you. If he killed you, he would no doubt feel terrible about it afterwards and you'd feel like shit knowing it was because of you. Hell, you had no idea how he'd take trying to explain what happened to his team. Your death might just break him.
But on the other side, letting you live was dangerous. Extremely so. He could get killed if you weren't careful enough and you didn't want that either. You didn't want him to risk his life for you, or for some foul creature like you. You were a ghoul, you didn't deserve it.
Why did you have to let your instincts take over?
You jumped three feet in the air when Shirazu dropped to his knees in front of you, hesitantly reaching out for you.
"I... I don't know what to do." He admitted, finally setting a hand on your shoulder.
"I don't know what I should recommend you to do, either." You answered truthfully, giving him a soft smile.
"But don't you want to live?" Ginshi frowned, his grip on your shoulder tightening.
"I... I'm aware of what I am, Ginshi. I understand that it's your job and I wouldn't stop you if you tried to kill me again. I'm a ghoul and I'm sure the world would be a better place without one more of those monsters running around. I promise I won't let my fear get the better of me this time. I'm just worried about how you'll take it afterwards." You explained. "Plus, you could die if you let me live, so... I won't mind, I rather know you'll be safe in the future."
That just gave Shirazu his final answer. What the hell was he thinking, actually considering killing you? Was he that screwed up?
Shaking away his negative thoughts, Ginshi leaned forwards, wrapping you in his arms. "I'm sorry for scaring you." He muttered. "And I'm sorry for your friends."
"It's alright, I forgive you. They... They weren't that close to me." You lied. You didn't want to make him feel bad for killing close friends of yours. He already felt bad enough as it is. "You're not gonna kill me?"
"Are you nuts? Of course not! I can't kill the one I love..."
You felt horrible about the amount of relief that flowed through your body at his words but decided not to let him know about that just yet. You simply hugged back the boy and sobbed into his shoulder while he held you close, on the verge of tears as well.
The fact that Shirazu had not only one, but two pacifist ghouls in his life couldn't be a coincidence. It meant that this world might not be as bad as he first thought and that ghouls like you and Sassan deserved much better than what you were going through.
While he took you home safely, Ginshi vowed that he would find a way to make this world safe for not only humans, but you as well.

Sector 27
It wasn't until June 3, 2101 that World War 4 ended. This was not a war that ended in peace treaties or truces; this war ended with disease. The atomic war caused plague and disease that crippled major countries. The generals and great leaders of the countries at war died from the radiation that penetrated every part of the globe. It was only then that humanity realized what they had done- what they had created. The first ever mutant was publicly executed the very day the war ended, and a new war began: the war against mutants. The surviving nation of Japan quickly rebuilt their country by dividing it into safe zones, or Sectors. There are currently 26 livable sectors in Japan; Sector 1 is the richest sector and the only sector that has completely rid itself of all radiation left over from the war. In fear against the threat of mutants, the once small section of the police force grew until it became the main police force in Japan. After all, humans shouldn't be blamed for crimes when the real threat to society is mutants. This police force that goes by their motto: Special Treatment Against Mutants (STAM) is comprised of agents that go about their work to capture and detain all mutants. Sector 26 is the poorest sector that humans can barely survive in; but there is one more part of Japan. This "dead zone" has such a high concentration of radiation that if a human were to step inside the barrier, they would die in mere moments. But within this dead zone, this 27th Sector, there lies a secret organization of mutants that fight against STAM and protect all mutants from their grasp. The Mutant Recovery and Protection Agency (MRPA) operates to hide mutants in society and allow them to live human lives. The only thing that stands in MRPA's way is STAM and its agents who hunt them down ruthlessly, so MRPA has their own set of skilled agents. And the battle rages on...
