A/N: This was requested by @KrustyCheetahs ! Have fun with your tooth rotting fluff!
"This'll be fun!" Saiko cheered as you all exited the Chateau to head out to the plains where the fireworks were going to be lit.
You looked down at the happy bluette, grimacing at her antics. "Just two minutes ago, Urie and I had trouble getting you out of bed."
"Gotta adapt to survive!" She answered before joining Haise, who was walking a few ways further in front.
"If only she could keep that mentality more often." Your boyfriend muttered as you shot him a small smile.
"Eh, it wouldn't be as interesting without her being the way she is." You rationalized. "Just as it wouldn't be much fun if you resembled Shirazu or Mutsuki in terms of personality."
Kuki visibly shivered at the thought of that. He could barely watch Shirazu make a fool of himself in public and now you're bringing up the idea of him doing that too? No thank you, he'd rather stay silent. He's also pretty sure that the two of you wouldn't be together if he wasn't the way he was.
By now, Urie had no idea how he didn't die of loneliness before you stumbled into his life with the rest of the Quinx. He found himself thinking about what his life would be like if he had never enrolled in the academy or if he had never gotten picked for the Quinx project quite often. Every time, his future was rather difficult to imagine without you in it.
He hates that fact with a passion. Urie had never thought that he would have developed a certain dependence to this group, but here he was, going out to watch fireworks instead of working on a report due Monday (it's your fault. You had dragged him out here).
As the purple haired man was grimly thinking of how he was emotionally weaker than he had first thought, he felt your hand slip into his. The smallest of smiles appeared on his face as he gave your hand a tiny squeeze. Just strong enough so you'd feel it, but weak enough so others wouldn't notice anything.
"I know you don't want to be here." You said in a teasing voice. "But you're the squad leader, so... It's good that you're here. It gives us a good appearance."
"You think the CCG is going to respect us more because the entire squad went out to watch fireworks instead of actually focusing on our duties?" Your boyfriend sassed back. You frowned at his apparently foul mood and looked forwards, refusing to look at his skeptical expression. "You're smarter than that, (Y/N). What was the real reason for dragging me here?"
"I just wanted to spend my time with my closest friends. And I wanted you to have a good time, too." You said, deciding to tell him the truth. It's not like he could back out now, seeing as you were currently looking for a spot to settle down. The fireworks were about to begin soon. "I feel like you force yourself to be cold with the squad, Kuki. I see a different side of you that I wish they could see, too."

But if I do that, it's not special anymore, the Quinx couldn't help but think. He wants you to know how much you mean to him, and opening up to you is the way he does it. It's not exclusive anymore if he shows that side of himself to everyone.
"And don't give me that 'I want it to be special for you' bullshit. If anything, I think it'd mean even more to me if you opened up to everyone else, too." Well, note for the future: He can't think in your presence. You're apparently a mind reader.
"I'll think about it." Urie muttered before noticing that the rest of the Quinx had found a nice spot to settle down. You were about to sit right next to Mutsuki until you noticed that Urie was still standing and started walking a bit further from you all. So much for opening up, huh?
You watched as he sat down and leaned back on his hands, a bored look on his face.
"Go sit with him. He looks so lonely." Haise said. "We won't mind."
"He should be the one sitting with us!" Ginshi objected. "Majority wins, right?!"
"This is a special case, though!" Saiko piped in. "Go with him, (Y/N)-chan! Or I'll force you!"
"You couldn't force me to do anything." You sighed as you got back up to join your introverted boyfriend.
"Is that a challenge?!" The energetic bluette asked, shaking her fist at you in a comical manner. "You can't surpass the Great Saiko! I have control over you all, just you wait! I'll make you eat your words!"
You waved her off to sit down next to Kuki, adopting a neutral expression. "What happened to opening up?" You asked as the first firework was rising in the sky.
"I never told you when I'd start." He retorted as his gaze was fixed on the ceiling. "I just don't think me opening up to you like I do would mean much if I did it with the others too."
You sighed and leaned your head on his shoulder. "Well, as long as you don't go around dating the others, I should be fine. We're both aware this is a closed relationship, right?"
"Of course, but I want at least something to remain just between us. Wouldn't you find this boring if I were to treat them all like I treat you?" Ah, so that's the issue. He's scared that you'll find him boring if he opens up.
"There'll still be things that remain between us." You assured, placing your hand over his as the sky exploded in multiple colourful patterns.
"Yeah, like what?" Urie scoffed.
"You won't look at the others like you look at me, and I, you. We won't be kissing the others like we kiss each other. You won't have an entire sketchbook of drawings of the others -- yeah, that's right, I saw that --, I won't be using the others as my motivation to pull through tough battles. You'll always remain a priority in my heart and mind, you know. Whether you open up to the others or not."

It was almost alarming how quickly Urie's chest exploded with lovesick warmth. He turned his palm up and entwined his fingers with yours, placing a soft kiss on your forehead as the two of you watched the rest of the show currently playing in the sky.
Urie's lack of answer didn't exactly surprise you. You knew he could be stubborn when he wanted, but at least you expressed your opinion. He'll come around soon and make a decision for himself and whatever that decision will be, you'll accept it.
"I love you, Kuki. And I won't love you any less after you make your decision. As long as we're both happy, I'll be satisfied."
Urie's hand left the comfort of your own to wrap his arm around your shoulder and bring you closer to him. You were taken off guard by the gesture. Kuki usually despised PDA and look at him tonight; holding your hand, kissing your forehead and hugging you. It was a start, and you were satisfied with it.
"I love you too."
"Okay but the jiggly cheesecake has to be the best one out there!" Saiko argued as you and Ginshi gasped.
"No it's not!" You countered. "New York style is the best!"
"What the hell are you two saying?!" Ginshi exclaimed, nearly tripping on his own feet because of the intensity of his words (then again, maybe you guys just shouldn't be having a heated debate like this while walking down the street). "Roman cheesecake's way better!"
"You guys, can we not argue?" Haise asked. "This was supposed to be a team bonding activity, not a battle to determine the best cheesecake."
You all remained speechless, wondering who was going to break the silence first.
"Are you nuts, Shirazu? Roman cheesecakes have ricotta cheese in them!" Mutsuki whisper-yelled as he grimaced. "The texture's gross!"
"That's it!" Ginshi exploded. "You guys aren't my friends anymore if you can't appreciate roman cheesecake!"
From the corner of your eye, you spotted Urie dramatically rolling his eyes. Well, he can remain silent and not participate in the discussion, but you were going to prove that your opinion was the dominant one.
Just as you were going to make a compelling argument, you were cut off by none other than Kuki himself.
"You guys are losers." He coldly said, not taking you by surprise. Of course he'd just speak his mind like that. You noticed Shirazu opening his mouth to spit out what must have been a well-rehearsed come back, only to be cut off by Urie. (He was really the interruption king tonight, wasn't he?) "American cheesecake is superior."
The four of you remained dumbfounded (even Haise had to look back to make sure Urie was really the one who had just given his opinion on something as silly as cheesecake), looking at each other in bewilderment. Ginshi mouthed something in the lines of 'Is he sick?' at you while you shrugged and silently answered him with an 'I don't think so'. He hadn't eaten anything off as far as you knew... And he didn't fall or hit his head, so it couldn't be a concussion.
"Well, for Urie to like it..." Saiko hesitantly started. Was she giving in to Urie's opinion? "It must be really good."
"Yes!" You cheered. "Three votes! New York wins!"
"What are you going on about?" Kuki asked, lightly hitting the back of your head. "There's a very distinct difference between American cheesecake and New York cheesecake. It's two votes, not three. I still win, though."
"To be honest... I don't think I ever tasted American cheesecake, so..." Tooru muttered, also uncertain.
"Tooru, no!" You whisper-yelled. "Don't give in to that demon! Join the good side, Mucchan! Come with me!"
"I'm sorry, (Y/N)..." He started. "I guess you have my vote for American cheesecake too."
You and Ginshi both groaned in defeat as Urie smirked, obviously satisfied that he managed to bring down an argument that had been going on for at least seven minutes in less than thirty seconds.
"Not so bad for my first time opening up, eh (Y/N)?" He asked in a mocking tone while you glared at him. He really had to open up now, of all times? Boy was this man getting on your nerves sometimes. "Now remember, you can't hate me for it. You said you'd love me nonetheless!"
You were rendered speechless. Kuki was such a cunning little piece of shit when he wanted!
But he was right. You'd love him nonetheless.
