Dad hugged me tight in relief.
"Are you hurt kiddo?" He asked worried. I shook my head.
"Nah. Just shaken up" his face then went serious.
"I think we need to pay Claire a little visit" he said, anger evident in his tone. I nodded in agreement.
Dad and I walked into the control room furious.
"I need to see your badge" a security officer said to us.
"Sir, ma'am" I waved him off with my hand.
"What the hell happened out there?" Dad asked Claire furiously.
"Sir, ma'am" the guard tried stopping us.
"There are thermal cameras all over the paddock she did not just disappear" I spat, trying to fight off the guard. He gave up and walked away. Claire sighed.
"It must have been some kind of a technical malfunction" she stated.
"Were you not watching?" I asked.
"She marked up that wall as a distraction, she wanted us to think she escaped" dad snapped.
"Hold on we are talking about an animal here" Claire said.
"A highly intelligent animal" I corrected.
"400 metres to the becon" a girl behind her desk informed. I raised an eyebrow and looked at the screen.
"Your going after her with non lethals?" I asked, amazed that they are that stupid.
"We have twenty six million dollars invested in that asset we can't just kill it" Mr. Masrani informed.
"Those men are gonna die" dad whispered to him.
"300 metres to the becon" the woman said.
"You need to call this mission off right now" I demanded.
"There right on top" a man said.
"Call it off right now" dad said sternly.
"You are not in control here!" Claire snapped.
"Neither are you" I stated, folding my arms over my chest and waiting for shit to hit the fan. one of the men held up a piece of flesh with her tracking implant in it, making me gasp.
"Bloods not clotted, it's close" the ACU soldiers informed into a walkie talkie.

"What is that?" Mr. Masrani asked.
"That's her tracking implant, she clawed it out" dad informed.
"How would it know to do that?" Claire asked.
"She remembered where they put it in" I said, bewildered at the dinosaurs intelligence.
"It can camouflage!" The man yelled into the walkie talkie.
"Oh fuck" I said, covering my mouth with my hand. The sound of flatlining heart rate monitors echoed through the room as well as the deadly crunches of bones. Once all the men were dead the room fell deadly silent.
"Evacuate the island" dad said.
"We'd never reopen" Claire said.
"You made a genetic hybrid, raised it in captivity, she is seeing alllll of this for the first time. She does not even know what she is, she will kill everything that moves" I stated, my anger rising.
"You think the animal is contemplating its own existence?" Mr. Masrani asked.
"She's learning out where she fits in the food chain and I'm not sure you want her to figure it out" I stated.
"Now assets containment can use live amunition in an emergency situation you have an M-134 in your armoury, put it on a chopper and smoke this thing" dad said, clearly as pissed as I am.
"We have families here! I'm not going to turn this place into a war zone" Claire snapped.
"You already have" I stated.
"Mr. and Ms. Grady if your not going to help then there's no reason for you to be here" Claire said frustrated. Dad, in a burst of rage, swung his arm at a poor mans table knocking over his dinosaur set up and walking out, me following hot behind.
"I would have a word with the people in your lab, that thing out there is no dinosaur" dad said to Mr. Masrani and left for the elevator. We stood there and made eye contact with Claire until the door closed.

"She's mad, we need to bloody kill this thing" I ranted. Dad nodded in agreement.
"I know but there isn't much we can do without her" he sighed. I then had an idea.
"Not exactly" I smirked.
"What do you mean?" He asked confused making my smirk grow bigger.
"What'd ya say we have a word with the lab?" He smirked too and nodded. When the elevator opened we both made a b-line for the lab, however we were stopped by the security guard.
"Hey! You think we're the ones you need to be worried about right now?" Dad argued, holding his hands up in surrender. "Back off"
"Sir, ma'am I'm going to have to ask you to leave" I sighed and grabbed dads arm, dragging him out with me.
"Worth a shot" I shrugged.
"Claire" dad said. I turned and saw a frantic, panicked looking Claire running at us.
"I need you" she said.
"Okay?" Dad and I replied confused.
"I need your help, my nephews their out in the valley, please if anything happens to them" she said, hyperventilating.
"Calm down Claire we'll help" I smiled, trying to calm her. "How old are they?"
"The older one he's uh like your age (Y/n) the younger one he's um he's a few years younger-" She rambled.
"You don't know how old your nephews are?" dad asked. She just stared at him and I sighed.
"Alright let's go then, don't have all day" I smirked, walking out the door and to a Jeep. "Hope in, I'm driving"
"(Y/n) can you even drive?" Claire asked, getting in the back seat.
"I've been driving since I was five, I think I'll be fine" I informed.
"No need to worry" she nodded and dad smirked triumphantly.
We went through the 'restricted area' fence and found a smashed gyrosphere. I hopped out of the car and inspected it, only hearing Jimmy Falon glitching and the crunch of glass under my shoes.
"Oh no no no, no no no" I turned to Claire and saw her holding a phone.
"Hey, they made it out" I said pointing to footprints. She sighed in relief and we followed the tracks, leading us to a waterfall.
"Oh my god they jumped" she said shocked.
"Brave kids" dad said.
"Zach! Gray!" Claire yelled.
"shhhhhh" Dad hushed her.
"Hey! I am not one of your damn animals" she snapped.
"Listen, those kids are still alive but us three will not be if you continue to scream like that" I whispered yelled at her.
"So, you can pick up their scents can't you? Uh track their footprints?" Claire asked dad. I snickered at her stupidity.
"I was in the Navy not Navaho" dad snapped.
"Then what should we do? What do you suggest we do?" Claire asked impatiently.
"You head back, (Y/n) and I will find them" he said and I nodded.
"No, we'll find them" she said, gesturing to the three of us.
"You'll last two minutes in there, less in those ridiculous shoes" dad stated. Claire then undid her belt and tied the bottom of her white shirt in a knot, rolling up her sleeves. Dad was in a trance of sorts the entire time. I smirked and nudged him, breaking his concentration.
"What is that s'possed to mean?" He asked.
"It means I'm ready to go" she said as if it was obvious. I laughed.
"You could have just said that you were ready" I smirked.
"But I'm sure dad enjoyed the show" I said, slowly leaving the pair, stopping again a little ways ahead.
"Relax it's just like taking a walk in the park" dad said.
"Sixty five million years ago" I added and started walking again.
