((Middle of November and I'm still jamming out to Halloween music....The Halloween spirit never leaves me!))
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I'm telling you, there was nothing in there. No signs either." (M/n) explained.
"Just like the Miller's house." Dean commented.
"I saw something, in the vision. Like a dark shape. Something was....was stalking Roger."
"Whatever it was, are you sure it's not connected to their house?"
"No, it's connected to the family themselves. So what do you think, like a vengful spirit?" Sam asked.
"Well, yeah. There's a few that have been known to latch onto families, follow them for years."
While the brothers were talking, (M/n) was trying to make sense of it all. It made no sense. No signs of demons, spirits, or anything. Yet this family was being targeted.
"Do you think Max is in danger?"
"Let's figure it out before he is."
"Well, I know one thing I have in common with these people."
"What's that?"
"Both our families are cursed."
Dean huffed at that.
~Timeskip to the Millers house~
Max lead the trio into the house. They were wearing their priests outfits again.
"My moms resting, she's pretty wrecked."
"Of course she would." (M/n) commented plainly, earning an elbow to the side from the young Winchester.
"All these people kept coming with casseroles. I finally had to tell them all to go away. You know cause nothing say I'm sorry like a tuna casserole."
Sam smiled at that, making Max smile back. Max gestured to the living room, they all take a seat. There was a moment of silence, the Sam sighed.
"How you holding up?" He asked softly.
"Ok." Max said. The demon had a bad feeling about this kid, but he couldn't put his finger on it.
"You're dad and your uncle were close."
"Yeah, I guess. They were brothers. They used to hang out all the time when I was little." Sam nodded.
"Uncle Roger lived next door, he was over all the time."
"Right.. So how was it in that house when you were a kid?"
"It was fine. Why?"
"All good memories? Do you remember anything unusual? Something involving your dad and uncle?" Dean soon asked.
Max shook his head. "What do ya....why do you ask?"
"Just a question."
"No, there was nothing. We were totally normal. Happy." (M/n) raised an eyebrow.
"Good. That's good. Well you must be exhausted. We should take off." Dean got up.
"Right. Thanks." Sam said before getting up, the smaller male soon joined the brothers.
"Yeah."
~Outside~
"The kids lying to us." (M/n) flatly said.
"Yeah. No one's family is totally normal and happy. See when he was talking about his old house?"
"He sounded scared."
"He's not telling us everything." The boy got in the car.
"Alright, fella's. I think we should go take a visit to the old neighborhood and find out what life was really like for the Millers."
~Another timeskip~
Sam, Dean, and (M/n) stood on a footpath, talking to a man in his front yard.
"Have you lived in the neighborhood very long?" Sam asked the man.
"Yeah, almost 20 years now. Nice and quiet. Why, you looking to buy?"
"No, no, actually, we were wondering if you might recall a family that used to live right across the street I believe."
"Yeah, the Millers. They had a little boy called Max." Dean said.
"Yeah, I remember. The brother had the place next door. So, uh, what's this about. Is that poor kid ok?"
"What do you mean?" (M/n) acted surprised.
"Well, in my life, I've never seen a child treated like that. I mean I'd hear Mr. Miller yelling and throwing things clear across the street, he was a mean drunk. He used to beat the tar outs Max. Bruises. Broke his arm two times that I know of."
"This was going on regularly?" Sam asked.
"Practically every day. In fact that thug brother of his was just as likely to take a swing at the boy, but worse part was the stepmother. She'd just stand there, checked out, not lifting a finger to protect him. I must have called the police seven or eight times. Never did any good."
(M/n) never understood humans that did that to their own kids. I mean, he never knew his parents. For all he knew, demons didn't have parents. They were just created into existence.
"Now you said step-mother." Dean said.
"I think his real mother died. Some sorta....accident. Car accident I think."
Soon Sam had his hand on his head, grimacing.
"Are you ok there?"
Sam winced. "Uh, yeah."
Dean and (M/n) stuck their arm out for Sam to hold on. "Thank for your time."
They turned and headed to the impala. Sam started having another vision.
~Later in the Impala~
"Max is doing it. Everything I've been seeing." Sam said.
"You sure about this?"
"Yeah, I saw him."
"How's he pulling it off?"
"I don't know, like telekinesis?"
This whole thing was scaring the demon. If Sam is having visions for other people and their connected in a way, this could lead him into trouble. The only why this was possible was if a demon was behind it....and a powerful one.
"What, so he's psychic, a spoon bender?"
"I didn't even realize it, but this whole time, he was there. He was outside the garage when his dad died, he was in the apartment when his uncle died. These visions, this whole thing, I wasn't connecting to the Millers, I was connecting to Max. The thing I don't get is why. I guess...because we're so alike?"
"What are you talking about. The dude's nothing like you."
"Well. We both have psychic abilities, we both...."
"Both what? Sam, Max is a monster, he's already killed two people, now he's gunning for a third."
"Well, with what he went through, the beatings, to want revenge on those people? I'm sorry man, I hate to say it, but its not that insane."
As the two went back and forth, they pulled up to the Miller's house. (M/n) got out of the car and went to the house, the brothers not even noticing.
~In the house~
"You know I never did anything." Ms. Miller pleaded.
"That's right. You didn't do anything. You didn't stop them, not once!"
"Max, stop this. I know your mad, but stop." (M/n) said calmly.
"How'd you get in here?!"
"That's for me to know and you to not find out." Max looked at the male questionly.((Don't think that's even a word, but oh well))
Soon Dean and Sam came bursting in.
"Fathers?"
"Really? Is busting a door down necessary?" (M/n) looked at them, Dean looked at him like a child would a mother after being caught stealing a cookie from the cookie jar, then replied with a soft sorry.
"Max, can we talk to you outside for just one second?"
Max was getting suspicious, "About what?"
"Its....its private. I wouldn't ant to bother your mother with it."
Max looked at the woman, then back at Sam, "Ok."
"Great."
Our Shattered Realms
*This is a learning experience for me so please keep in mind that I am attempting to work on some of the issues brought to my attention early on. However I haven't yet gone back to redo the early chapters.* Less than two days ago every piece of electronics in the world stopped working for more than two hours. The death toll was immense. Hospital equipment failed, cars stopped in the middle of the street, planes fell from the sky, and homework was lost at the worst possible moment. We found out that it was just the flicker and hum of The System warming up. Now we see the true cost of our new world. A Dark comedy that focuses on a few of the many people who aren't stuck in a high level dungeon when our world is translated and joined to Our Shattered Realms. This is my first story that I have published. I welcome any criticism that you have for me. Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy!
Unto Dark
A man of cripplingly ill mind, bridled with the spirits and regrets of the past. Wade Pierce trudges through each day of his monochrome existence, only as penance for his sins. Such a man is abruptly decamped of this world courtesy of unapologetic forces, left stranded in a realm filled with unknowns. Armed only with his potent yet fragile intellect, Wade advances into this new abyss, as he attempts to rewrite the wrongs he has committed. Plagued by vile beasts, self-righteous Gods, and even his own seething darkness, the cracks in his mind begin to spread and a dangerous, newfound power bubbles beneath the surface. As the world grows darker day by day, this unfortunate journey begins ------------ I suppose rectitude dictates that I should state any themes worthy of noting here. First of all, this story is not a sunshiny one in the slightest. Since it is listed under the psychological and mature tag and not the comedy tag, that shouldn't be a surprise. Next, morbidity is a factor and general apathy towards human life. All of these are common themes amongst other writers, so nothing new there. The story also contains consensual, and non-consensual sexual activity, although I have tried to be as tasteful as is possible for someone like myself. Finally, the pace is drawn-out, and the language is magniloquent at times. Not to mention, the chapters are quite lengthy. Don't expect to read this halfheartedly... Other than that, enjoy the story... There's nothing more important than that...
