======================
"Dad wants us to pick up where he left off, you know, saving people, hunting things. The family business."
"Good night love."
"Hey Dean."
"Daddy!"
"Hey buddy."
"Sammy!"
"Mary!"
"Dean, this is my girlfriend, Jessica."
"So here's to Sam and his awesome LAST victory."
"What would I do without you?"
"Crash and burn."
"No!"
"I'm not going to just ditch the job!"
"Screw the job, man. I'm sick of the job anyway. I mean, we don't get paid. We don't get thanked. Only thing we get is bad luck."
~Now~
Dean was driving the Impala, which had new plates((The place I sadly have to call home....Ohio...)) as his phone rang, he answered it. "Yeah?"
"There's a cop car outside." Sam said.
"You think it's for us?"
"I don't know."
"I don't see how. I mean we ditched the plates, the credit cards."
~At the motel~
The cop car drove away.
"They're leaving. False alarm." Sam breathed out in relief.
"Well, see. Nothing to worry about."
"Yeah, being fugitives? Frigging dance party."
"It's not that bad Sam. At least you don't have Hell and Heaven trying to track you down as ow humans are now tracking me down." The demon said.
"That's true. Could be worse."

~Factory~
As Dean hung up on his brother, he pulled up to a old factory. He walked in, flashlight in hand, swinging open a creaky door. Dean walked through that looked to be an abandoned office, with a typewriter, file cabinets, etc. There was a dripping water in the distance.
Dean looked back and forth a few times, and then started walking back the same direction he came from but this time in a hall. On his right were old things. Suddenly he got attacked, the thing pinning him against the window wall. Dean dropped the flashlight and the djinn slams his right hand up against a wall, forcing him to drop his knife. It opened its left hand, which glowed blue, as its eyes glowed. It put its hand on Dean's forehead and his eyes rolled up, and took a faint blue hue.
~In a bedroom at night~
Dean woke up, bare-chested, and wearing a necklace that was not the amulet. He sees a woman lying down next to him. He got up and got dressed, walking through the dark apartment.
He called Sam.
"Dean?"
"Sam?"
"What's going on?"
"I don't know. I don't know where I am."
"What? What happened?"
"Well, the uh, the Djinn. It attacked me."
"The gin? You're...drinking gin?"
"No, asshat. The Djinn. The...scary creature. Remember? It put its hand on me and then I woke up....next to some hot chick."
"Who?" Sam laughed. "Camren?"
"Who?"
"Dean, you're drunk. You're drunk-dialing me."
"I am not drunk. Quit screwing around!"
"Look, it's late. All right, just get some sleep and, um, I'll see you tomorrow. Ok?"
"Wait, Sam! Sam!" But he had already hung up. Dean put his phone in his pocket, frustrated, and looked around. He saw an envelope, picked it up and looked at the address.

"Lawrence?" Next two were addressed to Dean, same address as Carmen's.
"What the hell?"
"Honey? What are you doing up?"
"Hey. Carmen. Carmen, uh, I just uh..."
"Aw, you can't sleep, huh?"
"Yeah, heh heh."
"Well, why don't you come back to bed and lets see if I can do anything to help."
"Sure. Yeah. In a minute. You, you, you go ahead."
"Ok, don't stay up too long." She smiled and kissed him warmly.
Dean went to the bookshelf, seeing a photo of Carmen and another of the two hugging. He turned to see something else shocking. He turned and left the room.
~Later~
Dean was banging on the door of a house. He rung the bell two times as well. The porch light tured on and the door opens to reveal:
"Dean."
He just stared at the woman for a few seconds, not believing his eyes. His voice broken when he talks, on the verge of tears.
"Mom?"
"What are you doing here? Are you all right?"
"I don't know."
"Well....come inside."
Dean walked in and Mary closed the door. He couldn't take his eyes off of her.
"Carmen just called and said you just...took off all of a sudden."
"Carmen? Right....Let me ask you a question. When I was a kid, what did you always tell me when you pout me to bed."
"Dean, I don't understand-"
"Just answer the question."
"I told you angels were watching over you." She said.
He walked over and hugged her tightly.
"Honey, you're scaring me." Dean backed off. "Now just tell me what's going on."
"You don't think that wishes can, can really..."
"What?"
"Forget it." He hugged her again. "Forget it. I'm just uh...I'm happy to see you, that's all."
He almost cries, but pulls it together and releases the hug, looking down at his mother.
"You're beautiful." He laughed a little.
"What?" She smiled.
"Hey, when I was uh....When I was young was there ever a fire here?" He asked, walking over to the wall, looking at the books and pictures.
"No. Never."
"I thought there was."
There was a picture of John and Mary smiling with the two brothers.
"I guess I was wrong."
There were pictures of Sam and Dean. Then there was a picture of John, dressed in baseball clothes with a cap and a baseball bat in his hand, ready to swing, smiling at the camera.
"Dad's on a softball team." He turns around to see Mary looking at him seriously. "Dad's....Dad's softball team. It's....That's funny to me."
"He loved that stupid team."
"Dad's dead? And the thing that killed him was a....."
"A stroke. He died in his sleep. You know that."
"That's great."
"Excuse me?"
"That...That's great That he went peacefully, I mean. It sure beats the alternative."
"You've been drinking." Mary said suddenly.
"No, I haven't mom."
"I'm just gonna call Carmen and have her come pick up, ok?"
"Wait. No, no!" He put his hand over hers. "Don't, don't do that. Don't do that. I wanna stay here."
"Why?"
"Because, I-I miss the place. It's okay, you-you go to bed. Okay?"
He went over to the couch and sat down, and looked around a bit. Mary walked up to him and stroked his face tenderly.
"Are you sure you're all right?"
"I think so."
"Okay." She bent down and kisses his forehead, like all mothers do. She started to walk out of the room, but stopped at the door. "Get some rest. I love you."
"Me too."
She smiled and then goes to bed. Dean stayed on the couch, looking around.

Ætla Verǫld
AV Online was just a flash in the pan—a harsh, experimental land which lost most of its players in mere weeks. Only the dedicated few remained, carving out their destinies in corners of the vast abandoned world. Lily Quinn wasn't one of them. With a career worth millions in the esports world, she didn't have time for a game like Avo—but when an exclusive beta test for the new version showed up on her doorstep, she couldn't say no… as much as she wanted to. Literally hooked into the simulation, Lily reluctantly entered a world beyond anything she'd ever dreamed of. Accompanied by seven other beta testers desperate to save their beloved game, Lily dives into a vibrant, beautiful world, where mystery and adventure waits around every corner. Despite her reservations, Lily finds a joyful escape in Avo, shattering her cold, hollow reality. It was just a game though… until the group discovered they couldn't log out. Trapped in a game with no rules, and surrounded by cutthroat players eager to kill for a quick windfall, Lily and her ragged band have no choice but to fight their way out, or die in a game that has turned all too real. Hi there! I'm setting off on yet another adventure, come join me :3 Unusually for me, there's only one perspective this time, and it's quite a bit more action-oriented than I usually write. Don't worry, though: everything's still as character-driven as always, and I never get tired of writing dialogue. Just to acknowledge it up front: this story is heavily inspired by EVE Online and the many stories generated by that world. However, since this is a fantasy setting, not sci-fi, don't expect any real parallels. Chapter publish rate for this one will be whenever I write them, as with Epilogue. I don't expect to move as fast here though, since it's not for NaNo. The plan is chapters somewhere in the 4k-5k range, and hopefully frequently. The Last Science takes priority as always though. Special thanks to Reaver and Ace Arriande for pushing me to get this going, and to all my fellow writers whom I've stolen from been inspired by. You're all wonderful people and I love you Quick reminder: Patrons get to read ahead of what's published! Also, try my other works: The Last Science — A Tale of Modern Magic Epilogue — A Post-Fantasy Psychodrama What are you still doing on the synopsis? Get to reading! [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Photo by Mae Mu on Unsplash -------------------------- This is my first story on Royal Road and my first attempt in general at writing Xianxia. As such I expect that it will need a lot of polish to get it to its final form, but for now I hope to keep up with NaNoWriMo and get something on the page. Until then I welcome comments and constructive criticism. Thanks for reading.

The once-prominent Taihelong dynasty of Li continent has fallen. A great cultivation sect that ruled over countless cultivation schools that taught aspiring immortals disappeared after a long and arduous siege that cost thousands. People blamed the foreign woman the Emperor took as a wife. She was of the Huayi after all -- they were always associated with disasters and couldn't be trusted. As far as everyone was concerned, the Taihelong dynasty had to fall or else the world ended. Years later, the second Emperor of the new Xiafeng dynasty of Li continent accepts a Huayi woman into the palace. People are aghast but don't say anything, as the Emperor is rather peculiar, known to have a monstrous temper capable of making the strongest men wet their pants. It seems that the ghosts of the past are catching up to the Xiafeng dynasty, for what good will come from having a Huayi woman help run state affairs? Especially when remnants of the previous Taihelong dynasty are waiting for the perfect time to take back what's theirs.
