《Solangelo oneshots》Say you won't let go

What's a soulmate?
Well, it's like a best friend, but more. It's the one person in the world that knows you better than anyone else. It's someone who makes you a better person, well, actually they don't make you a better person - you do that yourself because they inspire you. A soulmate is someone who you carry with you forever. It's the one person who knew you, and accepted you, and believed in you before anyone else did or when no one else would. And no matter what happens... you will always love them.
I met you in the dark
You lit me up
You made me feel as though
I was enough
We danced the night away
We drank too much
I held your hair back when
You were throwing up
The bodies around him made Will sweat even more. The flashing lights were giving him a headache and the pounding music was only adding to that. He looked over the crowd, thanking his the height he normally cursed because he stood out. He let his friends drag him here because 'it's our last night before we become students'. Will wasn't the party person, or a crowd person. He liked to sit in the back, and stay in the shadows.
In a dark corner of the room there was a little bit of free space where the blonde could breathe. It was only when he arrived there that Will noticed that the corner was not empty. A small, dark haired guy around his age stood slumped against the wall, almost blending in with the shadows. Dark twinkling eyes were eyeing Will up and down.
"Hey blue eyes. What's a pretty boy like you doing in a corner like this? Aren't you supposed to be in the middle of the dance floor grinding up against some girl?" his tone was hostile and sarcastic.
"Why...why are you talking me?" Will mentally slapped himself for his stutter. The gut was really cute, and he was already messing everything up before anything could even start.
"Why wouldn't I talk to a cute guy like you?" "You think I'm cute. That's a first."

"Who wouldn't think you're cute. Here take a drink. Let's talk about why nobody would think you're cute."
They talked for the rest of the night, and got stupidly drunk. Eventually, at 3AM they parted ways after Nico, as turned out was his name, slipped Will his number and made him promise to text. For the first time Will had enjoyed himself at a party.
Then you smiled over your shoulder
For a minute I was stone cold sober
I pulled you closer to my chest
And you asked me to stay over
I said, I already told you
I think that you should get some rest
The next morning Nico walked into his new dorm room. Most people had arrived earlier in the week, but he'd only returned from Italy yesterday. He had yet to meet his roommate, but that wasn't his highest priority. The only thing he could remember from the night before were blue eyes and a dazzling smile. The guy he'd talked to for the larger part of the evening. He had yet to receive a text from Will, but wasn't really expecting one. He was almost certain Will was straight, and he most likely had a girlfriend. But he could have hope.
Nico was pulled from his thoughts when someone behind him cleared his throat. Unintentionally he'd been staring at the wall for a few moments. Wow great way to impress your roommate Nico.
"H...Hey I'm Will Solace, your roommate." Nico turned at the sound of the familiar voice. In the door opening stood Will. The moment their eyes met, recognition flashed across Will's face. Then he smiled.
For a second Nico was back at the party, totally wasted, and Will was smiling at him. The toxins seemed to leave his body and all he wanted to do was give this boy a hug.
"Hey, again, I guess. Well we'll at least have a less hard time getting to know each other since we got drunk together. Talk about an ice breaker." Nico didn't know where the words were coming from, he just felt the need to talk to Will.
Will suddenly stepped forward and hugged Nico. "Sorry I'm a hugger."

I knew I loved you then
But you'd never know
'Cause I played it cool when I was scared of letting go
I know I needed you
But I never showed
But I wanna stay with you
Until we're grey and old
Just say you won't let go
Just say you won't let go
It took them less than a week to become best friends, and within days, Nico had developed a crush on his roommate. He played it cool. He didn't want to lose another friend because of some crush. Will knew when Nico felt bad, and vice versa. They would go to any lengths to make the other happy. They depended on each other.
I wake you up with some breakfast in bed
I'll bring you coffee
with a kiss on your head
and I'll take the kids to school
Wave them goodbye
and I'll thank my lucky stars for that night
It was normal for them to wake the other with breakfast, or bring coffee when the other was studying. It got so normal, that after years of university they moved into a flat together. Will would silently thank everything he could think of for that one night. What he and Nico had, was special. Nico was special. But maybe Will was biased. He was in love with his best friend. It wasn't the crush he had had in university, it was straight up feeling empty when Nico was there.
When you looked over your shoulder
For a minute, I forget that I'm older
I wanna dance with you right now, oh
And you look as beautiful as ever
And I swear that every day you'll get better
You make me feel this way somehow
Maybe that's what eventually got them together. Will was trying to get over Nico. He was trying so hard, but he couldn't. He had faith in this date. He'd met Paolo on a dating app. After chatting for a while, they arranged to meet up at a coffee shop near Will and Nico's apartment.
Will had been early, but now, after waiting over an hour, he started to lose hope.
To Paolo: Are you almost there?
From Paolo: I'm sorry I can't do this. It was nice talking to you.
Will broke. He clicked away the text conversation and went to contacts. There at the top, in favourites, stood Nico's name. He clicked the call button.
"Nico, he stood me up."
There was no response, just the click of the call being ended. Within minutes Nico came bursting through the door of the coffee shop, panting, still wearing his pyjama pants. He rushed over to will's table and wordlessly pulled him into a hug. 'He's an ass. You deserve so much more Will."
"What DO I deserve? I don't know any more Nico."
"You deserve someone who's funny, caring, and can return your love. You deserve someone who would literally die for you, because you would do the same."
"I think I've already found this person." Will leaned forward and softly kissed Nico.
I'm so in love with you
And I hope you know
Darling, your love is more than worth its weight in gold
We've come so far my dear
Look how we've grown
And I wanna stay with you
Until we're grey and old
Just say you won't let go
Just say you won't let go
I wanna live with you
Even when we're ghosts
'Cause you were always there for me
When I needed you most
I'm gonna love you 'til
My lungs give out
I promise till death we part
Like in our vows
So I wrote this song for you
Now everybody knows
That it's just you and me
Until we're grey and old
Just say you won't let go
Just say you won't let go
"I know we're not supposed to be the ones standing up here today, but I can't pass up this opportunity. I've know my husband since university, and ever since I became his roommate I wanted to tell him just how much he meant to me. I could never put it into words before, but I wrote this song. I hope that the message will be clear."
Just say you won't let go
Oh, just say you won't let go

Ursus Ex Machina
Ozzy was a man of the wild. Raised in a remote village atop the world's mightiest mountain, he'd been taught to respect and revere the natural world. The realm he was born into had been there long before him, and it would remain there long after him. Sure, there was the occasional madman who threatened to destroy it, but such boasts were always empty. No one individual was actually capable of demolishing this beautiful blue-and-green ball Ozzy called home. No matter what terrible magics these villains wielded, they were incapable of causing permanent harm to the environment. Even if the planet was completely devastated, it would recover. Life would find a way to flourish, same as it always had. That was what Ozzy believed from the bottom of his heart, so he never once felt the need to save the world he loved. After all, it was never truly in danger. The world would be fine no matter what. The people were a wee bit endangered, but that was another story altogether. However, what would happen if Ozzy suddenly found himself devoid of his beloved wilds? What would the man do if the realm he knew - one of wonder, magic, and chaos - was replaced with a man-made environment of concrete, industry, and steam? Ozzy could never imagine such a thing happening, and yet that was his new reality. After losing a fateful confrontation with a mad wizard, he and his friends found themselves transported to a strange world so thoroughly alien that every waking moment feels like a fever dream. Separated and scattered to the four corners of this land, each of these adventurers will need to adapt, survive, and overcome if they hope to reunite. They would also need to do so quickly. The sooner they are able to find one another, the sooner they can figure out a way back home and have another crack at putting an end to the villain's plans. Whether such a thing was actually possible in a world with barely any magic in it was a valid concern, but Ozzy had more immediate things to worry about. For instance, why did the air smell like a perpetual forest fire? How did ships sail through the sky as if it were water? And most importantly, was the pavement he was hurtling towards at high speed much softer than it looked? Probably not, but a man could hope.
