《Forbidden Love || Anakin x Reader》Chapter 16: The Meadow

"Are you ready?" Padme asked, drum rolling her fingers on her lap as I walked out of the closet. I found her eyes widened as an "aw" came out of her mouth. "I got to say you impress me." Padme stood up and bounced her way beside me. We both stood upon a large mirror. Padme and I had familiar face structures. We had the same tiny nose as well as the same ears. After a moment of silence, Padme tilted her head and furrowed her brows. She squinted so vastly; it seemed as though her forehead veins would pop out. She let out a "hmm" and hurried off into the bathroom.
The sound coming within was loud. Shelves were banging against the counter, Padme threw clothes in every direction. Until a loud "ah-ha" was yelled through the walls. Out she came, a broad smile planted across her face. In her hand was a yellow ribbon with flowers. "Much better. Now it's complete," she says, squeezing my arm and getting out of the frame of the mirror.
Today's afternoon outfit consisted of a gown made hand-embroidered of old-gold silk organza. There were multi-colored ribbons that would tie around the sleeves while a bodice wrapped around my waist. The dress was a soft yellow and was thin and elegant.
"You look beautiful!" Padme shouted; she leaned against the wall and clapped her hands. "Well, take it in before it ends?" I teased and bowed playfully.

When we arrived, the meadow was a lot greener than I have remembered. The sound of the waterfall was loud enough to be heard from miles away. "Well, sorry to have to do this again, but Lila and I have some important matters to discuss. Therefore, we will be leaving the party." Padme says, nudging Lila's shoulder, making her chuckle under her breath.
Something was up. "What important matters?" I ask, crossing my arms glaring at both of them. "None that concern you. Now please, enjoy your meal." My sister says, rolling her eyes. She grabbed Lila forcibly, and they both ran away.
Anakin and I were left alone yet again. I slowly closed my eyes, taking in the situation presented in front of me. I was about to be left alone with a horn- I mean, dramatic Jedi who can't take no as an answer.

I sighed before looking at Anakin. His face was full of confusion. He looked for answers in my face. I shrugged my shoulders, pretending to be confused also. We placed a blanket underneath the grass and laid our baskets on the ground.
"Well, let's enjoy it while it lasts." he chuckled and sat on the ground. He patted the empty place near his body, insisting I sit close to him.
I sat down, grabbing an apple from the basket, taking a bite out of it. "So tell me, any stories around here I should know," he says, grabbing his Mundi and taking a bite. He let out a sigh as soon as it touched his lips. The boy could eat a lot, though nothing went to his stomach. "Well, I'm not sure if you want to hear it," I say, smirking, remembering the last time I was here.
"Tell me," he furrowed his brows. I hesitantly thought if telling the story was the best option. "I know you're hesitating, which makes me want to know more," he says, pushing my shoulder softly. "I don't know," I say, taking a deep breath before beginning to laugh at the memories. "Sure, you do. You don't want to tell me." he sighs and rolls his eyes.
"If I don't, are you gonna use a Jedi mind trick on me?" I say, waving my hand slowly in front of his face. "You will tell me the story," I add, voicing Obi-Wan; this only made him more frustrated. "You know they only work on the weak-minded." He says, taking another bite into his Mundi.
"All right, I was 12 years old. His name was Jaul. We were both in the Legislative Youth Program. He was a few years older than me. Very cute. Dark, curly hair. Dreamy eyes." I calmly say. I grabbed chamomile from the ground and sniffed it. "All right, I get the picture," Anakin says, grabbed the flower tossing it behind him.
"Whatever happened to him?" he asked annoyingly. He tried his hardest not to make eye contact. "I went on to follow the Jedi. He went on to become an artist." I replied. "Maybe it was the best choice for the both of you," he says, now looking towards me. I squinted my eyes, "You don't like politicians, do you?" I ask, tilting my head.

"Not really. I prefer the Jedi," he says, chuckling. "Although I like two or three Jedi, I'm not sure about one of them," he added; he smirked before laughing. Haha, funny. I punched his shoulder slightly, making him groan sarcastically. "I don't think the system works." he begins to say again, calming down. "How would you have it work?" I asked, crossing my arms and raising my eyebrows.
"We need a system where the politicians sit down and discuss the problem, agree what's in the best interest of all the people, and then do it," he says, now looking into my eyes. I thought about all the discussions my sister and I had. I learned a couple of things about politics. The senate would gather and discuss matters.
"That's what they do. The trouble is that people don't always agree." I shot back, making him furrow his brows once more. "Well, then they should be made to," he says firmly and confidently. "By whom? Who's going to make them?" I asked; I felt my body get worked up. My ears were beginning to get warmer by the second. " I don't know. Someone," he shot back. "You?" I ask.
"Of course not me," Anakin said quickly. "But someone," I rolled my eyes; he nodded in agreement. "Someone wise," the blond boy looked intensely into my eyes. "Sounds an awful lot like a dictatorship to me." There was a short silence between us until a smirk formed on his face. "Well, if it works." His cold blue eyes stared into mine, making my body shiver.
Seconds later, Anakin's smirk turned into a broad smile, followed by a chuckle. The realization hit me; he was making fun of me. "You're making fun of me," I yelled, laughing, shaking my head. "No. I'd be much too frightened to tease a Jedi." by this point, Anakin was fully laughing. Letting out sounds I've never heard. He hung his head down, covering the hot pink forming on his cheeks.
He was an idiot at points, but he always knew how to make me laugh.
I stood up quickly, bringing his face upward in my direction. "Come with me. I have one last thing to show you." I say, bringing out my hand. He smiled and grabbed it. "Where are you taking me now?" he asked, holding onto my hand as I led the way. I smiled and pointed into the distance. He tilted his head, confused, "To the animals." I shouted, tightening our grip, running towards them, dragging Anakin behind me.
When we got close, Anakin had let go of my hand and ran up to a Shaak, getting on its back. I laughed at how unsettling and uncomfortable it looked. The Shaak quickly took off, galloping along the grass. They ran up small hills going back and forth until the Shaak ran up on a rather tall one. "whoa, whoa!" Anakin shouted, trying to balance onto one of them. He started to stand on the creature, trying to keep balance. "Oh, whoa!" Anakin shouted once more before the Shaak threw Anakin off, landing on the grass.
Anakin planted his face on the grass. His movements were slow until his body quickly relaxed. "Anakin?!" I shouted, but there was no response. Panic filled my body; I ran towards him, scared he was hurt. This would all be my fault. I dragged him out here.
The closer I got, the more scared I was. "Ani! Ani, are you alright?" I say, flipping his body over to see him smiling. He tricked me once again. Relief filled my body, but so did anger. I slightly slapped his chest, making him laugh harder.
He then grabbed my arms, pulling my body closer to his. Still laughing, he decided to start rolling on the grass. Laughter filled the space between us. There was a moment when all my worries had washed away. I felt like a child once more. We came to a halt; I sat on top of him, looking straight into his eyes. He smiled before rolling once more onto the grass.

Re-Ordaining of the Chosen
Alea cheerfully hummed as she descended the steps, brimming in upbeat while her colleague, Quarren Leos, shot her a look of skepticism. “So… were you right about him?” he asked doubtfully. She came to a stop for a moment, her humming falling silent before she shook her head, waving her medium length light-blonde hair from side to side. “I was wrong about him.” Quarren raised an eyebrow in confusion at the convoluted response.“But you seem quite happy?” he asked again. “Because I am. But I was wrong about him. He was… so much more than I ever expected.” Alea looked at the sky overhead with a smile. “That boy… no, that man, is amazing. I firmly believe he will come to stand on top of any adversary he faces. He is destined. He is Chosen.” Quarren snorted as he stepped past, shaking his head. “Okay. Each to their own beliefs but you’re sounding like a nutjob. That skinny twig? Everyone calls him a cripple, you know,” he shook his head.“Rumours are always false, Leos,” Alea answered with a disapproving shake of her head. “You wouldn’t know. He is so, so much more.” “I saw him with my own two eyes. I didn’t see anything redeeming,” Quarren rebutted. “Well…” Alea chuckled. “You haven’t seen what I’ve seen.” In the year 917 of the Imperial Calendar, the Great War had just ended between dozens of nations.
