《Forbidden Love || Anakin x Reader》Chapter 84: Festival of Light

The Festival of Light is today. It would have been a joyful occasion in the past years, but now it's part of the job to attend. I knew my sister would be in the crowd with the Chancellor right at her side, who was the main target of this whole thing. But my complete protection was solely on my sister and Ani, of course.
"As you can see, we've mapped the Chancellor's route to and from the festival stage. We know where he'll be at every moment from the time we land on Naboo." My Master commented. I stood hovering over the Holocron Master Windu and Master Yoda has set in place.
"What security measures are in place?" Master Plo asked. It seemed almost every Jedi I was close to was going to the festival to protect the Chancellor. By the press of a button, Master Windu has pulled up an enormous large map of Naboo. "The Naboo Royal Guard will have armed sentries at all entry points on the Palace. And the stage itself will be sealed off by a ray shield for the duration of the event." My Master finished off. I smiled through the Holocron; seeing his face was lovely. I hadn't heard much from my Master; I've been surrounded with Anakin's instead, though I didn't mind.
"I see nothing here to worry about," Anakin commented. His arms crossed themselves across his chest. I, too, agreed the Chancellor had so much protection, there was nothing more to worry about.
"With complacent comes vulnerability. Yes... it is what we do not see that concerns me. A long time to plan his attack, Count Dooku has." Yoda chimed in. He was right; whenever something awful had happened, it was always Dooku.
"Yes. We thought we'd have an advantage with Obi-Wan on the inside, but we've had no communication from him in days." Master Windu sighed. What did their little plan fail? Anakin and I were still upset that the council had not informed us of the plan. We honestly thought he was dead; instead, he was out playing bounty.
"Obi-Wan will do his part. Let's make sure we do ours." Anakin scoffed. He turned his back, exiting the room. Everyone in the room knew he was upset. He was betrayed by the Jedi once again.

Arriving on Naboo was what I looked forward to the whole day. To see my sister and close friends was everything.
"Greetings, Your Majesty." Chancellor Palpatine greeted the Queen of Naboo, and who was right beside her was my sister. A large grin plastered across my face; I hadn't seen her since our last wild adventure. "Welcome home, Chancellor. I'm thankful to the Jedi for bringing you here safely." My sister coughed a slight bit, noticing the Chancellor's eyes were on her. "Yes, Senator. It is good to be back. Although I think the amount of security that has accompanied me is overkill." Palpatine replied. That again, I could agree on.

"With all due respect, Chancellor, where your safety is concerned, there is no such thing as overkill." My Master jabbed back. Anakin and I looked over our shoulders, staring at each other as such awkward conversations unfold.
"So you keep insisting, Master Jedi, but I've grown tired of discussing it." He hissed, passing my Master's shoulder in a swing. Well, that conversation couldn't have gone any better.
"Anakin, Y/n, Ahsoka, and Zander, welcome to the festival." Padme greeted all four of us. She immediately came in for a hug, a tight one as usual. "I've missed you, y/n." She whispered into my ear, still in her grasp. "I've missed you too. I'm glad to be home." I replied. She leaned back, leading our small group as both Zander and Ahsoka's heads wandered the whole city.
"I've never seen the Festival of Light. Sounds like a big event." Ahsoka said, mesmerized. It made me chuckle. I'm sure she'll have a blast. "They're expecting a large crowd, which means it will be difficult for Dooku to attack during the ceremony. That leaves the Palace as the best opportunity for an ambush." Anakin commented. He walked beside me, still following Padme's lead.
"Are you that certain an attack is imminent?" My sister asked worriedly, turning her back a bit. "I'm afraid so. Which is why I'm making Ahsoka and Zander your bodyguards." Anakin instructed. My padawan's eyes popped open, he always thought Padme was beautiful, and I knew Anakin was doing this as a tease.
"At your service, my lady." Ahsoka chuckled slowly, nudging Zanders' side. He chuckled nervously, "Shut up." He whispered under his breath.
"If there's trouble, Ahsoka and Zander will get you, the queen, and the rest of your staff to safety," I informed my sister.
"What about you?" Padme asked. Her back still facing us. "Hopefully, I'll be where I always am." I smiled.
"She means saving the day with Anakin." Ahsoka laughed.
"Of course she does," Zander added.
I rolled my eyes shoving off the playful jokes both Padawans had made.

The Palace was as beautiful as I had remembered. The elegant decorations and the somewhat bright yellow lights made it all worth coming. Not to mention the Palace was located near a cliff that has a large waterfall. If you were close enough and lucky enough to get a balcony, you would be able to hear the water slowly fall.
"When I was a kid, Padme and I would always sit here for hours." I voiced. I sensed Anakin was leaning on the doorway as I placed all my weight to my elbows on the edge of the balcony. The sun had slowly started to settle down, and a cast of purple and pink painted the sky. "It's beautiful here; I missed every second of it," I added, slowly turning around to find the brown-haired boy looking at me with soft eyes.

"I'd say you're more beautiful." He replied; his voice was so calm. I smiled, taken back, but stuck on how beautiful he is. He has light blue eyes and brown curly hair. His posture was perfect; everything was perfect.
"Let's go. Chancellor Palpatine is about to begin his speech." He weakly smiled. Lending out his hand, I grabbed it holding it tightly onto the edges of his glove.
Stopping at the door frame, I kissed Ani on the cheek before letting his hand go entirely for the sake of the Jedi being around every corner.
We walked into a small outside balcony that had stone benches ready for all the guests. And as expected, we were the last to arrive. I stood in the place Padme would be destined to sit in while Anakin stood next to where the Chancellor would be.
The applause from the crowd quickly began. Looking to my right was Chancellor Palpatine followed behind a few guards, the Queen, and of course the Senator of Naboo, Padme. They sat precisely as planned, and then the ray shield was implemented, casting over our small area.
The Chancellor then walked into the center, where his small podium was set up just for him.
"It is an honor to be here for this momentous occasion. The pride I feel for this planet cannot be put into words. Eight hundred forty-seven years ago, Naboo joined the Republic. And tonight, we celebrate that union." Palpatine echoed. At this moment, I felt an uneasy present, my eyes wandered everywhere within the shield, but it had seemed entirely normal.
"Take a moment and look around this glorious city of yours. It wasn't long ago this was all plasma mines. Naboo had indeed come a long way." Palpatine added.
"What's wrong?" Padme whispered ever so slightly. Though, I ignored what she had said. Thoroughly frustrated why I wasn't making the connection. The rocket shrieking and fireworks knocked me out of my thoughts. The crowd applauded and cheered, but there was nothing joyous I could find at this moment.
"Amidala! The shield generator." My Master yelled in my direction. Quickly turning my head, the generator was being tampered with. Someone's fingers slowly crept into the shield, disabling it. I ran as soon as I could, but it was too late. The generator had exploded, and shouting from the crowd emerged.
Looking back, the Chancellor was injured, and Ahsoka and Zander luckily managed to get Padme and the citizen safely inside. Leaving Mace, Anakin, and I in our invasive attack.
Ani hoped over the concrete fence, igniting his blue saber in one hand and attacking the changeling. It seemed it was technology-based, and he wasn't the real species. He looked down onto his wrist band, initiating a zapper onto Ani.
"Anakin." I ran towards the stairs bringing both my sabers into my hand. But when I walked down, Ani laid on the ground, his eyes were partially closed, and the bounty had flown in the air with his rockets.
"Ani, wake up," I begged. I always hated seeing him hurt, and right now wasn't the moment to faint. I shook his body a few more times before slapping him slightly on his chest.
"Those tentacles pack quite a punch," he mumbled jokingly as he slowly woke up. "No time for jokes, Ani, come on." I stood up quickly, pulling his entire body with one arm. We paced up the stairs seeing Mace and the Chancellor on a speeder alongside a guard? I presume it was the bounty seeing the way Master Windu's saber was inches away from his face.
"Chancellor, are you all right?" Anakin asked worriedly. But in surprise, he got a punch to his face. It was another bounty hunter. I force-pushed the creature back onto the speeder, holding my saber right onto its face. "Where is the chancellor?" I hissed, and that was when our answer was revealed.
"So long, Jedi." Cad Bane's obnoxious voice ran into my ears. I turned my face to what appeared to be the real Chancellor on a speeder knocked unconscious. We had failed again.
