《More Than Meets the Eye (A Ninjago Fanfic)》Chapter 11: Seventeen and Strong

"When did you get here! It sure took you long enough." I growled, glaring at him. His repulsive figure shook as he laughed heartily at my attempt to burn him. He floated above the main deck as he did all this, of course.
"I've been here for a while child. Watching, waiting patiently for you to end your little lesson." He grinned menacingly as his eyes locked on mine.
"Morro..." Whispered Sensei in awe.
"That's my name, don't wear it out." Morro commented, his eyes still glued to mine. He looked just like he had in my dream. Greasy, jet black hair with its signature emerald green streak, a confident posture, maliciously fiery and vibrant green eyes, a cocky attitude, and a smirk playing on his lips. His countenance was pale and ghastly, especially under his hard stare.
I knew he wanted me, to break me, but I was unsure as to how and when he would act. I scoured his shadowed, dark green irises and intensely scanned his inky black pupils for any indication as to his current motive. What was he about to do to try to accomplish his goal? I rose to my feet in preparation.
That is when I saw it. It was now or never for me. I let the power flow to my palms. My skin prickled and my muscles danced and quivered in anticipation of the attack I knew was coming.
I was right because not long after I stood, Morro shot a vortex of wind in my direction. Instantaneously, I shot a green light beam back at him. We both held our streams of power as they met in the middle.
Our powers combined, a blinding light and a searing pain enveloped my frame as I was thrown back and into the wall behind me. "Gahhh!" I cried out, my spine making contact with the wall. As light and wind reacted to each other, I was encased in a smoke-like haze.

After the reaction I felt different, stronger. Why?
"Gahhh!" I heard Shimmer cry out as she was thrown back and collided with the wall behind her.
"SHIMMER!!!" I screeched, frozen to my spot on the main deck, still sitting. Everyone else was frozen, too, as we all tried to process what just happened. Even quick-thinking Nya only stared out the window of the bridge. We were all in shock. Morro was thrown back too, but of course, he was floating in the sky and was only pushed back a ways.
Due to the reaction of powers, Shimmer was soon shrouded in a smoke-like mist that hung thickly in the air. I could only stare into the haze, hoping she was all right, as my head spun in confusion.
I pushed myself up and stood. I felt really different. Attempting to view myself and why I felt weird, I gazed downward in an effort to see my hands through the fog. The effort turned out to be pointless. I couldn't see well enough to tell what was wrong.
I proceeded to walk forward, following the direction of the thinning fog, in a determined stance. I continued on until I broke through the mist and into the light.
I mustered up the strength to stand as I gazed into the mass of hazy atmosphere. I soon found what I was looking for. The silhouette of a person moved around in the dense mist. It gradually grew more defined and darker in color as the figure proceeded to make its way towards clear air.
I watched as Shimmer stepped out of the cloud. All I could think was "wow..." I stared at her in awe. My jaw dropped to the floor as she looked up from inspecting her hands and body. I swear I was drooling. She was a seventeen-year-old again and let me tell you, she was HOT, beautiful, gorgeous, stunning, perfect.

As she looked up her gaze met mine for a moment. 'Yup, I don't think I'll ever find a girl as hot as she is...' I thought to myself.
Her frame was thin. She wore the warm glow of sun-kissed skin upon her body. She looked slightly shorter than me and she had small features. She had a nice curve at her waistline, not too much, but not too little. The skin on her face was flawless and looked radiant in the midday sun. Her eyes emanated a light unlike any other, they glowed a stunning emerald which contained tiny flecks of jade green here and there. Her hair hung loosely down her back, the rich, chocolate brown strands fluttered against the small of her back in the wind, flowing elegantly in glossy waves.
I began to feel warm all over as I realized how lucky I was to have met such a beauty, and I thought I loved her when she was merely cute inside and out now she's drop-dead-gorgeous inside and out...heaven help me. I swear my heart was going to beat out of my chest when I heard her honey-like voice say, "I'm seventeen again," as she tore her gaze from mine and focused those beautiful shining orbs on Morro with anger and hatred residing deep within.
I stepped out of the smoke and looked down at my hands and body before connecting my eyes to Lloyd's. I tore my gaze from Lloyd's mesmerizing blue eyes and fixed my glare-like gaze on Morro. Hatred was building up within me, along with a thirst for revenge. He was going down.
Morro regained his authoritative and ominously regal stance. I decided to regain mine. Erecting my body and a strong, proud manner, I braced myself, ready for whatever was next. "I'm seventeen again." I said sweetly, all the while smirking and shooting daggers at Morro with my eyes.
One thing is for sure. Either I'm going down or he is.

My World To Live

It felt like something was missing ever since she was born, but even after nearly 20 years of mundane living, she could never pinpoint what this or the emptiness in her heart was. She befriends, in particular, a sassy fox-spirit named Akari who just reincarnated after three millennia. Essairyn is an abnormal human with elemental powers, and Akari is being chased by those of her dark past. Together, they set out on an adventure in a world of magic, danger, mystery, and intrigue. But this not a game. That simple adventure is actually the modest beginnings in a chain of disruptions that tear even the dimensional fabric of time and space. No one, not even Essairyn, was who she thought she was. And not even the gods can change the destiny of the universes... A single promise shook eternity’s existence. — Fantasy || Adventure || Romance || Action || Mystery || Drama || Science Fiction — The My World To Live (MWTL) series, the alternative short name is Canaan, is comprised of three books symbolically named My World, To Live, and My World To Live. Two years prior, the entire story had been planned and detailed out from start to finish before actual writing. Thus, the story will never be dropped. While the genre is largely Fantasy, the book is comprised of many other elements including a School Life (Magic Academy) story portion. MWTL has a lot of scattered symbolism and allusions, hence, the mystery aspect. The science fiction elements progressively become more pronounced, and the slow romance is a late bloomer. The female lead is strong and independent, and her backstory and identity unravel as drivers of the plot. Expect lots of action/fighting throughout and scattered philosophical and psychological themes arising. It's a human journey to find the essence of one's living and purpose. What kind of world do I wish to live for? Any feedback is greatly appreciated. I hope to share the journey with you~! Canaan's Original and New Covers: If you're curious about my art and the various covers I made for this series and other authors, I have a RR thread that makes free covers and shows art processes. [October 1, 2020 Notice: Hello, I aplogize to all followers for suddenly taking an extended hiatus. Life threw a lot at my face and then the pandemic happened, so I hadn't been able to write until around the last month when I decided to challenge myself and finish the first book in this series. I am ok now, and thank you for your patience and understanding. No words can express how much every reader means to me. RR was the first writing platform that I ever felt accomplished to any small degree, so I am forever grateful to it. Multiples changes have been made since this final revision and writing of the ending, so please see the latest chapter detailing the update. This also includes my decision to submit this story to the 2020 Wattys contest (the deadline was Sept 30th). That means I will not be posting the updated version of this story on here until the contest is over (since I doubt I'll win anyway lol). And so, if you want to read the full, now completed (woohoo!) story, please go to my Wattpad. Thank you once again, and wishing you all the very best health and happiness! FINAL UPDATE, March 7, 2021: The complete story has been re-posted after the Wattys. This version that was on Wattys is the one being re-posted. However, the Final Version (which will be on a separate book from this to remain organized, and is technically the fifth version of the story xD) will be released May 2021. For more information, please read this update linked here. Thank you to all readers for taking this two year journey with me!
