Kinabukasan, nagpaalam muna ako kay inay na pupunta muna ako sa bahay nila Marisol at baka makapagpasyal lang diyan sa tabi-tabi.
"Oi Flor! Sakto sasabihan kita sana na 'wag muna sa bahay ko, andun kasi yung mga pinsan kong makukulit, ang sarap tirisin." Habol sakin ni Marisol.
"Grabe ah, tiris agad?"
"Ano, may tsismis ba dyan?" tanong niya habang inaayos ang kaniyang buhok.
"Eh sabi ni tatay dadalo daw yung Presidente at ang Heneral dito sa susunod na araw. Magiging tahimik ata ako dun, aba andun yung Presidente." s
Saad ko habang naglalakad kami ay naisipan namin na pumunta sa pamilihan.
"Kapag ako ikaw, isasayaw ko yung Presidente ng bongga hanggang mapagod tapos para makauwi na agad siya, ayus ba?" Tintaas-taas pa niya yung mga kilay niya.
"Loko ka talaga."
"Maiba ang usapan sa Presidente na i
'yan. Anong pangalan ng Heneral?" Tanong niya.
"Sabi sa akin ni itay paborito daw ng Presidente, Gregorio dela Paz? 'di ko tanda yung apilyedo."
"Teka... Gregorio del Pilar ba?"
"Oo! del Pilar nga."
"Ay! Yare tayo nyan." Pinagdikit ni Marisol ang dalawang palad niya na parang may iniisip.
"Bakit?" Nalilito kong tanong.
"Aba Flor, ang daming pinaiyak na mga dalaga 'yun! Alam kong lalapitan ka 'nun dahil sa iyong kagandahan jusko kapag sinaktan niya ang damdamin mo tigok sakin 'yun." Wika niya. Grabe apakalakas talaga ng boses nito kulang nalang ay sumigaw nalang siya.
"Marisol! hinay-hinay lang ang daming nakatingin tuloy." Bulong ko sa kaniya hababg hinihila siya papalayo.
"Ay, 'sensya na po!"
Habang nagkwekwentuhan kami ay may nakita kaming bata na tumatakbo at nadapa ito sa tabi namin, agad naming tinayo siya at tinignan kung may sugat.
"Bata, may masakit ba? ayos ka lang?" Tanong ko habang tinitignan ang tuhod niya ngunit wala naman itong sugat kaya nakahinga ako nang malalim.

"Ayos lang po ako binibini, salamat po."
"Bata, anong pangalan mo?" Tanong ni Marisol.
"Luis po, binibini."
"Luis, nasaan yung mga magulang mo? baka hinahanap ka nila, sigurong nag-alala na mga 'yun." saad ko.
"Ah hinahabol ko po kasi yung aso. Ang ganda kasi ng lahi niya nais ko sanang kupkupin."
"Siguro nakalayo na 'yun. Tara hanapin natin ang nanay mo baka nag-aalala na siya."
Habang sinusundan namin si Luis ay napansin ko na dinala niya kami sa gitna ng mga paninda nagtratrabaho dito siguro yung nanay niya. Tumigil sa paglalakad si Luis sa harap ng isang kainan.
Tumakbo ang isang babae na may edad, sigurado akong nanay ni Luis iyon. "Luis! Akala ko nawala kana isasara ko na sana ang paniderya para hanapin ka. Huwag mo na gagawin 'yun. Jusko mamamatay ako sa taranta kapag hindi kita mahanap."
"Nay, pasenya na po. Sila pala yung tumulong sa akin." Sambit ni Luis at tinuro kami.
Tumingon sa amin ang babar at binigyan kami ng malambing na ngiti.
"Salamat mga binibini."
"Teka.. ikaw si Floribeth, hindi ba?"
"Ay, oo po". gulat kong sagit. Paano ako nakilala nito halos ngayon ko lang siya nakita.
"Totoo nga ang sinasabi nila napakatulungin mo talaga."
"Matulungin at mabait talaga po 'yang si Flor, Kaya kapag may sumungit sa kaniya tatarayan ko kung sino man yun." Tumulong rin kaya siya, hindi mo pa talaga binggit sarili mo tsk.
"Bilang pasasalamat ko sa inyo pwede kayong magtanghalian dito at pagtumanggi pa kayo malulungkot 'tong si Luis. Hindi ba Luis?" tumango naman siya.
"Sige po. Salamat" Sabay naming wika ni Marisol.
"Flor, pupunta pala kami sa Cervantes, Ilocos Sur kung nasaan ang mga lolo't lola ko. Hindi ko sigurado kung kailan ako makakauwi dito.
"Nako, ayos lang. Mas importante na bisitahin mo sila. Kung may lolo at lola pa ako, araw-araw akong bibisita sa kanila."

Tapos na kaming kumain ni Marisol at nagpaalam na kami sa isa't isa. Habang naglalakad ako pauwi sa aming bahay ay may nakita akong mga tao na nakasay sa kabayo, maraming tao sa paligid pero pinabayaan ko nalang at nagpatuloy sa aking paglalakad.
Narito na ako sa aking silid nagbabasa ng mga aklat tungkol sa agham para malibang ako. Nang may narinig akong ingay sa labas ng aming bahay at may nagpaputok pa ng baril ay agad naman akong tumungo doon. Naglakad ako patungo sa aming pinto at nakita ko may mga nakasoot na uniporme at kinakausap ang aking ama.
