《A Man's Man (Midas x Meowscles)》~Beach Day~

I woke up the next morning, and opened my eyes to see Meowscles staring back at me. I jumped, as well as the kitty did. "Sorry, I didn't know you were awake Meow," I said, catching my breath.
"Haha, yeah," he looked behind me, and stood up, scratching the back of his neck. "It's a little after 8:00, you wanna head downstairs?"
"Sure," I thought for a second. "Meow, I could ask the agents if they would want to go to Sweaty with us for the day. We have a day off, and we could always go to the pool, or beach there,"
"That sounds like a great idea! I'll tell the agents." and with that, Meowscles wandered off. I headed into my closet, and walked into the bathroom. I turned on the shower, and sighed. While I was waiting for the water to heat up, Meowscles walked in, and knocked on the bathroom door. "They said that they were down to come, so I was going to start packing bags."
"Sounds good. I'll be out soon,"
"Okay!"
I slid open the glass door and stepped inside of the shower, the warm waterstream hitting my bare back. I needed a break. With all of the work having to be done, and the stress of Shadow, it's been crazy. Shadow hadn't striked in a little under a year now, meaning that they're planning something.
And that something seems to be HUGE.
So we were all on guard.
A couple of minutes later, I stepped out of the bathroom in a clean pair of light grey sweatpants, a navy blue T-shirt, and a white oversized sweatshirt. I shoved my hands in my pockets, and headed outside. Once I exited my quarters, I noticed that Meowscles' door was slightly ajar. I opened the door a little more, using my back, and walked inside. Meowscles was laying on his bed scrolling through his phone. He looked up at me and smiled.
"Whatcha doing M?" Meowscles asked.
"Waiting for you to come out of your room of course. What are you doing?" I replied.
"Scrolling through y'alls social medias,"
"Ah, I see."
Meowscles chuckled. "The only other thing I need to add is food. I have bathing suits, extra clothes, and shoes. Skye said she would get the floaties and all that stuff," he gestured to the duffel bag on the floor next to his bed.
I nodded. "I'll be in the commons. Meet me down there!"
"See ya then,"
I walked off, closing the door behind me.
I arrived in the commons and most of the agents were already there. They all waved, and I responded with a smile and a wave as well. I headed into the kitchen. I was hungry, and it seemed like the agents were too. "Skye, would you want to help me make waffles for everyone?" I asked looking over at her.
"Sure boss man! I'd love to help!" she exclaimed. She stood up and bounced over to the kitchen. We got to work right away.
When we had finally finished making waffles, which took a little more than thirty minutes, the rest of the agents were awake, and ready to eat. Meowscles walked down the stairs carrying TNTina on his back, and she was blasting music from a speaker in her hand.
"Tina! Will you stop?! My ears are ringing!" Meowscles cried, dropping her on the couch.
"Ahh!" Tina exclaimed as she fell off of the couch.
"Holy Jonsey, Tina, turn off that racket," Tek said, walking into the commons.

"Please agent," I said, face palming.
"Y'all are so boring! Ooh, what's for lunch?"
"Breakfast?" Skye questioned.
"Yeah."
"Boss man and I made waffles!"
"And you are all in luck, as there are over one hundred of them,"
"Yeah...we got carried away."
"Then let's dig in!" Meowscles exclaimed, helping Tina up from the floor.
~
"Come on you guys!" Skye called, reaching behind her to grab a hold of Meow and my hands.
"Calm down sis," Meowscles said, trying to keep up with her fast running pace.
I slipped my hand out of hers and watched as she skidded to a halt. She slowly turned her head around to look at me with wide eyes, and her mouth was in a small circle. "Boss man. How DARE you let go of my hand?!" she cried dramatically. I laughed.
"Skye, you were holding onto MY hand. You just have a bad grip," she gasped.
"Yeah, sis, you really don't have a brain do you?"
"Nah, I guess you're right Kitty bro. Now come on! We're gonna be late," she said, sprinting the rest of the way to the copper, and the rest of the agents.
I rolled my eyes and followed her, watching Meowscles race her towards the vehicle.
Meowscles' POV
~
I was carrying two floaties outside of the locker rooms. Brutus was waiting for me outside with two of his own. "Why did Skye ask us to bring so many of these?" I asked, confused.
"Beats me. All I know is that it's Skye, so whatever."
We walked down to the pool, and soon realised that the agents were the only ones there. The place was dead. I snuck up behind Skye and hit her over the head with one of the floaties.
"Ow! Kitty bro, what gives?" she cried. Brutus and I then shoved a couple of doughnut floaties around her body, trapping her. "You two are evil! Can someone help me out?" I broke down laughing. She looked so annoyed. Her eyebrows were very scrunched up, and her face was in a slight frown. It was priceless.
"You two are hilarious," Tek said, helping Skye out of her rubber prison.
"I'm not amused," Skye said, sticking her tongue out at us, as we continued to make fun of her. I finally calmed down and went back to my lounge chair. I reached into my duffel bag, and pulled out a small notebook. I opened it and thought about what to draw
Midas was sitting on the other side of the pool. He had his legs dangling into the water, and a wine in his hand - even though it was 100:00 in the morning-. He was wearing a pair of black swim trunks that had gold accents on them, and he was shirtless. He was cute, with his hair not fully gelled down, and a small smirk on his face.
I lifted my pencil, and began sketching, using the small piece of paper as my canvass. It already looked good! I was never the best artist, but I didn't think I was that bad. I glanced up from my paper once again, to look at who I was drawing. My eyes trailed over the tattoos on Midas' pale body. I had to make them accurate.
A couple of minutes later, I was almost done with his body, and the tattoos were coming along well. I looked up one more time, and finished the tattoos on his chest. "Kitty Bro, say cheese!" I heard Skye yell. I turned to her, and smiled.

"Cheese!" I called to her. She ran over to me, and held out the polaroid. I watched as it slowly developed into a colored picture. And it was a great picture. "You're a great photographer Skye," I said.
"Thanks Kitty bro. Are you gonna get in the water or not?"
"I will. I'm just finishing up a drawing first,"
"Ooh, what's the drawing of?"
"Something,"
"Midas?"
"Maybe,"
"Can I see it when you're done?"
"I guess,"
"Cool! I'll be in the pool,"
"Okay Skye. See ya,"
I spent a couple more minutes working on his facial features, and the details in his hair. The drawing looked really good! I reached back into my bag and found my colored markers. I got to work on the drawing's colors.
I had finally finished, and I was proud of my work. I set my notebook on my lounge chair, and took my shirt off. I was wearing a pair of orange swim trunks that had small brown paw prints on them. I headed towards the rest of the agents in the water, not noticing that my notebook cover had blown open.
"Took ya long enough Meow," Peely joked.
"Ha!"
"Jeez Brutus... you're just annoying," I flashed back at him.
"I can't deny that being said," Brutus agreed.
"Did you just diss yourself?" Tek asked while raising an eyebrow.
"That I did," Brutus answered back.
"You guys are way too stupid," Skye said, bouncing up to us. We were outside of the pool.
"Fine, you guys want to try to push me into the pool?" I asked, sure that they wouldn't be able to accomplish this.
"For sure! C'mon, let's do this you guys!" TNTina called, running up behind us with Lynx and Midas following close behind.
"On the count of three. One...two..."I started, positioning my arms to a T. "...Three!" I had my feet firmly planted on the concrete, and I began laughing. Skye rammed her shoulder into my back, only to hurt herself. Tina tried kicking my legs out, but it didn't go as planned. I noticed Midas standing silently to the side, watching it all. I nodded at him, and slightly moved my head, motioning for him to try.
"Alright, gather around." Midas said. I couldn't hear what they were saying, as it was a whisper. It must've been a plan to get me in the water. Ha! I'm not moving.
Midas' POV
I gathered the agents around me, and I began explaining a plan to get Meowscles into the pool. "Okay so, I'm going to jump on his back, and that should surprise him enough to lose the forced flex in his muscles. Then, you guys all have to push him in. As a last resort, we'll throw catnip in the pool. Got it?" I asked, looking at all of the agents.
They all nodded in agreement, and we got ready. I held up my hands, and fingered a "three two one", and I ran. I jumped onto Meow's back, and sure enough, he was surprised.
"NOW!" I called back at them, and the agents put as much force as they could in pushing Meowscles into the pool.
He lost his balance, and fell in. I jumped off of his back right as he hit the water, and landed back on the concrete with a perfect landing. Meowscles' head popped back up, and he gasped for air.
"Nice kill you guys!" he exclaimed. "I didn't think you had that,"
"Well, I always said that the Boss man had some type of brain in there," TNTina said. I flashed her an annoyed glare, and stepped forward a little. Skye walked over to me, and the two of us grabbed Meow's hands to pull him up.
But instead of him coming out of the pool, we were dragged into the pool. He pulled hard on our hands, and both me and Skye fell in.
I heard Skye come up, so I pushed off of the wall behind me, and came up a little farther than where I entered the water.
"Really Kitty bro?!" I laughed along with the rest of the agents.
"Yeah Kitty bro," Maya said, doing a cannonball in, and landing beside me, soaking Meowscles and me with water again.
"Oh it's on," we both said together. Skye reached for three water cannons on the concrete next to her, throwing one to me, and Meow, and keeping one for herself. We started shooting the cold water at Maya, as she tried to swim away. Brutus and Peely, who had jumped in as well, started trapping her in our water streams.
This went on for about another ten or so minutes, until Tek mentioned food, and we all agreed to get something to eat.
I used the wall to get myself out of the water, then reached out a hand to Skye, helping her up.
"So what's the deal with your parents and siblings coming back?" Skye asked, following me to my lounge chair, which was in between hers, and Meowscles'. I sat down, and wrapped myself in a towel. I pulled out a water bottle, and started explaining.
"My parents hate people like me. First of all, I'm not a normal human like I 'should be', and secondly, I'm not straight. My parents always thought that if you were gay, lesbian, bisexual, or anything other that straight, you shuld burn in Hell. So with them being back, and with my brother seeming to hate me, it's a problem. My sister Jules seems to at least tolerate me, but I don't know if her thought process is the same as my father's. If it is, then I have to find a way for them to leave me alone." I explained. "I'm only a little worried about what they would think about this relationship. I would assume that they know, but they haven't said anything about it to me."
Skye sat there, quietly listening to the words coming from my mouth. She looked shocked. I stopped talking, and took a small sip of my water, clearing up my dry throat.
"Boss man, I'm so sorry. I had no idea your parents felt that way,"
"It's okay, really. It happens,"
"How can you act so casual about it? You shouldn't be treated like that,"
"Because I try to hold in my emotions. You know that. Meow knows that. All of my agents have known me long enough to know that. It's something that came up, and it's something that will die soon enough," I spoke as calmly as possible. I was frustrated, but I did so as not to scare the girl. I knew that I was intimidating, and I didn't want to scare her off.
Skye opened her mouth to speak again, when she stopped. Meowscles had wandered over, and beat her to it.
"Do you guys want any hot dogs? We're cooking them now,"
"Sure!" Skye exclaimed. She stood up, and bounced over to where Meowscles was pointing.
"You okay?" I didn't answer. "M, you okay?"
"Huh, oh yes. I'm just fine."
"I can tell when something's bothering you. Will you talk to me?"
"Really Meow, everything is fine. I promise," but I was lying. Nothing was fine anymore.

The Ruined Monks of Rothfield Monastery
Erin is the youngest member of the dark monks; a supernatural brotherhood whose ultimate mission is to improve the dire circumstances of poor, war-torn villages using powers unique to each member. Or so he was led to believe. Erin, like his brothers, does not age, and that is, unfortunately, the only trait he shares with them. He cannot charm or compel like Woodrow, he cannot cast illusions like Knox, he was not swift like Swithin, not powerful like Blake. He was barely an assistant to his dear brother Wilbur, with his herbology and alchemy. He was told to lie low and make himself scarce. That is what he did. The dark monks temporarily reside in abandoned monasteries scattered around the country, feeding the poor and healing the sick, nurturing the monastic lands until it was fertile enough to raise crops and rear animals. As the years passed, they would leave these reformed, repopulated, self-sustaining monasteries and venture froth to help the next settlement. Yet, after years of toiling and quiet servitude, Erin notices that people and the country itself are declining. The villagers look gaunt, the once-lush soil now barren and cracked. He begins to feel disheartened, thinking that their mission is proving futile. Still, their leader Blake is steadfast and charges onward, and lately has his eyes set on a certain monastery in a thick, thorned forest that seems to diminish, even nullify their powers. A thick forest that Erin somehow has a connection to. A thorned glade where an ethereal voice calls his name with one simple request along with a promise:Heal the land, child. Heal the land and I promise to give you sanctuary so long as you stay. I promise to nurture you as you nurture me. As Erin cultivates the land, the land, in turn, gifts all its caretakers with new, enhanced skillsets on top of their unique powers -- skills of protection, healing, and magic. Magic. Erin had long wished to see the world fill with it again. The people, regardless of common or noble blood, still believe that magic will enter this world again. Magic to bless the king like it did the Saints. Magic to dispel the miasma befouling the world. Magic to bring back the fae folk and their many forms. It is up to Erin to forge the many paths leading to a bright future; to build a prosperous paradise that welcomes all races and bloodlines, by mastering the rewards gained through agriculture, horticulture, and animal husbandry, smithing, crafting, and fishing. Erin may also find a lifelong friendship and romance with his neighbor, Claude, if he decides to pursue him, and may even join him in the military campaign outside the monastery. The darkness still lurks outside, after all, and the mastery of his skills, along with a few good friends, may finally be enough to turn the tide in their favor. Most of all, Erin wants to keep the vow he set for himself: to protect everyone and everything he loves until his dying breath.

The Mischievous Mrs. Maxfield
***The wrong girl is sometimes The Right One.*** Charlotte Samuels thought she'd be stuck waiting tables at Marlow's until all her debts are paid off-in about ten thousand years or so. She definitely didn't expect a marriage proposal from the arrogant Brandon Maxfield who was blackmailed by his father to make her his wife if he didn't want his least favorite cousin to run Maxfield Industries. Charlotte's instinct was to say HELL NO! but she's stumped by a few obstacles: 1.) His old man Martin Maxfield is dear to her heart and has been recently deteriorating in health. 2.) She gets a million dollars if she stays married to Brandon for a year. 3.) She would rather like the opportunity to teach the attractive but awfully rude man a few lessons he didn't think he needed from a 'teenage gold-digger' which was his term of endearment for her on their first date-er, business meeting. So what's a girl got to do, right? Sure, she's young and a little rough around the edges but there's something her would-be husband didn't know about her yet-she's nothing like he ever expected. Thrust into the glitzy world a standard-issue Mrs. Maxfield would fit perfectly and rule with impeccable social grace, Charlotte will either have to force herself into the mold or break free of it, risking what little she has left for everything that she can gain.*** Copyright © 2014 by Nina Tippett.
