They finally got back to the house.
The countries rushed into the house.
They went upstairs and set North and South America on the beds in the rooms.
Portugal sighed as he walked into the loft that was upstairs. "All we can do is wait now." He said to the other fathers who were upstairs.
They just nodded.
It got quiet.
"What if we lost them again?" Spain suddenly asked.
The other looked at him.
"What if the first five that escaped went back before we got here and they got recaptured and their bosses relocated them?"
"Spain," England started.
"What if we never even found them? What if they relocated the others? What if-"
"We can't think like that." France said cutting Spain off, "All those things could have happened, but thankfully they didn't."
"But what if they did?"
"Well they didn't," Portugal said to his brother, "And I don't want to think about what would have happened if they did."
England nodded, "Right now, our children are all safe and that's what's most important. Those other scenarios didn't happen, thankfully. So we shouldn't think about if they did."
Spain nodded.
Nadia walked up the stairs, "You guys okay?"
"We're not the ones you should be asking that to." England said.
"Well in a way you are."
The four men looked at her confused.
Nadia sat on the couch with them, "You guys watched your kids faint in pain, I'm not a parent but, that's gotta be tough to have seen."
All four of them winced at that memory.
"And you all almost went down at in a buliding that was about to explode at the hands of psychos."
"Too bad those bastards got away," Portugal said.
"Actually they didn't."
"What do you mean by that?" France asked.
"That base was close to AREA 51, I called those guys up and told them what happened. They caught the bastards and are currently holding them."

"At least they won't get away with this." England said.
"And they also helped America, Brazil, Colombia, and South Mexico get to this house after they escaped the base."
"Nadia, thank you for everything. Without you we probably wouldn't have gotten them back." Spain said to her, the other three nodded.
"Don't thank me, I didn't do that much. But I apologize for what those crazies did to your children." She said, "You guys were really brave."
"What are you talking about?" England asked.
"You guys were gonna go down in a buliding that was gonna explode, then you were telling them to take you all instead. Who knows what they would have done to you if they did. And you did all of that for your kids."
"Of course, we would do anything for them." Spain said as they all nodded.
"I always heard people say that they would do anything for their kids even die for them. I never got why."
"Well, close your eyes and picture this." Portugal told her, she nodded and closed her eyes. "Imagine you have a child, boy or girl it doesn't matter, and you love them more than anything. You would do anything for them and even give the world to them if you could. They would always come to you for anything. When they were scared, you would let them sleep in your bed, you would read them stories, you two would do everything together, you hated seeing them cry and just loved to see them smile."
Nadia smiled as she thought about it.
"Now picture this," England said, "That child is taken away from you by someone. And you look for them everywhere but can't find them. But your determined to find them, because that's the child you raised and did everything with and you told yourself that you would always protect them. And then you find that child and lets say that the person who took them has a gun and shoots it at them. Now open your eyes and tell us. Would you just stand there and watch?"

Nadia opened her eyes, "No of course not!!"
They all smiled.
"What would you do?" France asked.
"I would get in front of them and take the bullet."
They all smiled even wider.
"Now you understand why." Spain said.
She gasped.
She did.
She finally did.

France walked into the room that North America was in.
They were just waking up and saw France, "Papa?" They all said.
France smiled and hugged his children tightly, all of them were crying.
"Is it over now?" Amelia cried into their father's chest.
He nodded and kissed all of his children's foreheads, "It finally is."

England was sitting in the room Argentina, Colombia, and Venezuela were in.
He heard groaning and turned to see Argentina trying to get up.
He rushed to his child, "Slowly," he told him. Before Argentina could say anything, England just all of a sudden hugged him tightly to his chest.
Argentina was hugging back just as tight.
"I thought I was going to lose you all." He whispered into his son's ear.
"Daddy?" Two voices asked.
The two turned to see Colombia and Venezuela, and Guyana just waking up. England helped Argentina up and the two walked to the other side of the room and sat on Venezuela's bed.
"Are they going to come back after us?" Colombia asked a bit scared.
"No," England said firmly as he hugged the four of them, "I'll die before I let them take you all away again."
The five of them cried together.

Spain was in the room that Ecuador, Chile, Suriname, Bolivia, Aruba, and Uruguay were in.
His sons still weren't awake yet.
He heard rustling and saw Aruba waking up.
"Papa?" He asked.
Spain nodded and walked over to him.
Aruba immediately hugged his father who hugged back.
"Hey don't we get hugs?" Someone asked. They turned to see Uruguay sitting up while the others were just waking up.
"I wanna a hug," Chile tiredly said as he stretched his arms towards Spain.
They all laughed him.
Spain motioned for his sons to come sit on Chile's bed. When they did, Spain wrapped his arms around his boys.
Nobody bothered to keep the tears back.

Portugal was holding Brazil's hand as he watched his son sleep.
He looked so peaceful.
He felt his son's hand move before he heard groaning.
Brazil was finally waking up.
The two looked straight at each other before Brazil hugged his father and buried his face into his chest and started to cry.
The two cried together.
Portugal rubbed circles on his son's back and sang Portuguese lullabies to calm Brazil down.
"Please don't leave me and go back to Portugal yet. Can you stay? If you don't want to, can I come with you?" He cried into his father's chest.
He moved his son's face so Brazil was looking at him,"I'm not leaving you, okay?"
Brazil nodded before burying his face back into Portugal's chest.
"Can you stay?" He asked.
He knew what he meant and nodded.
Portugal climbed into the bed with Brazil and pulled his son closer to his chest.
He turned the light off.
The last time they were like this was when Brazil was a colony.
Brazil snuggled into his father's chest some more before peacefully going to sleep.
Portugal watched him sleep for awhile before peacefully going to sleep too.

Their kids had been through a horrible event.
And were a bit traumatized.
But they were gonna get them better.
Even if it killed them.
Because just as Spain told Nadia.
"We would do anything for them."

The Crows and the Plague
As the Black Death ravages Medieval Europe, the ominous Plague Doctors (commonly called "Crows") may be the only thing standing between Christendom and extinction. There is no cure for the Plague, so all the Crows can do is stop the spread of the disease, even as the monstrous Vermin seek to spread it on purpose. But not everyone understands just how necessary the Crows and their often brutal methods really are. .............................................................................. This story is an alternate history/low fantasy story taking place in Medieval Europe. Rather than elves, goblins, and orcs, the fantasy elements in this story are generally things people in the Medieval era would have actually believed in, some exaggerated just a bit more for flavor.#thecrowsandtheplague
