Tom and I were taking a walk through the jungle, both for fun and to search for more food, Tom was already carrying an entire trees worth of plantains over his shoulder. We walked along a river, I was jumping from rock to rock due to boredom, simply trying to entertain myself considering we had been walking for over a few hours now.
"Let's stop for a break." I sighed, kneeling down next to the river and cupping the water with my hands so I could get a drink. Tom gently put the plantains down and copied what I did— "I miss peanut butter." I said randomly.
Tom laughed at me, "Where's that coming from?"
I shrugged my shoulders, "I'm hungry."
"So your brain instantly went to peanut butter?"
I looked at him strangely, for dramatic effect of course, "Yours doesn't?" He laughed and I felt a smile tugging at my lips when I heard it.
"You're cute."
I was choked back and my face froze with my mouth open. "Uh-" What was I supposed to say to that? My cheeks felt hot, I turned away and hid my face with my hair, facing towards the river. "T-Thank you."
I felt warmth on the center of my back, "Andy? Can I ask.." I felt butterflies in my stomach, excited and nervous to answer any question from him. "Um, no sorry. Nevermind." He laughed. "It was a stupid question, come on, let's keep going." He picked up the plantains and began to move on our path.

The intention for this story was a slow paced grungy story where everything seemed great at first and things just kept getting worse. I learned how shitty of a story that is to write and honestly I am just not good enough to get the idea down. I plan on revisiting it later.
