《A Normal Day... | Monster Girls X Male Reader》1. A Normal Day...

You were (Y/N), an 18 year old, normal boy. Or so you would think. (Y/N) happened to be one of the wealthiest people in Japan due to a popular cartoon he created called "Delights and Daydreams" a show based on animal characters of his own creation. You couldn't tell though, as he kept it low key. He didn't like to boast about his wealth and often made generous donations to monster charities. It was a normal day for him, or so you would think, watch as his life is turned upside down.
----------------------------------------
Light fills your vision, a horrific blaring sound emanating from your right hand side. Fuck. Gradually opening your eyes you turn to see the same, faint red glow of the alarm clock in the morning. It read 10:00, great, you slept in. Willing enough energy you force yourself from your zombie like state you head towards the bathroom.
The boy glanced into the mirror, taking in his features. You were well built, due to the gym you had installed on the second floor of your house. You had short, neat (H/C) with a clean shaven face. You were around 6'3 with deep, (E/C) eyes.
Snapping out of your trance, you glance at your wrist watch, 10:10, okay, this would work. You get ready for your morning run, slinging on a vest and running shorts. Sliding open the bedroom door you carefully sneak down the hallway, attempting not to wake Luci, the hellhound you had taken in a year back.
You recalled how grouchy she got when you woke her up for the first time, she didn't talk to you for the full day, saying she likes to wake up of her own accord. You didn't question it though, to each their own you figured.
Your morning routine was like this:

1. 7km run
2. 100 push ups, sit ups and pull ups.
3. Shower
4. Make breakfast for you and Luci (which she often is awoken by the smell)
You had now made breakfast for the two of you, this morning it was Omelette, a favourite of yours due to the protein. It was made almost perfect, the almost due to your limbs aching from the strenuous exercise you put your body through on the daily. About 5 minutes into your meal you heard shuffling down the stairs and the approaching pattering of paws on the marble floor.
Luci: Morning (Y/N)! Something smells delicious~
(Y/N): Yeah, I made omelette
A look of sorrow graces her face, causing you to chuckle.
(Y/N): Don't worry, I put your steak in it, very rare, just how you like it.
Luci: EEP!
The ashen skinned girl almost jumps with glee, immediately tearing into her meal. Same old Luci you thought. She'd been living with you for about a year now, and you can remember when you first met her.
The pattering of the rain could be heard throughout the mansion. You were strewn out across the couch, chips in hand, watching Lost Boys, a classic vampire film you liked. It was a pretty normal night, you watched the movie with interest, having tuned out the rainstorm outside.
A loud crash echoed throughout the mansion, emanating from the kitchen. This ripped your attention from the world vampires to the now possible threat inside your kitchen.
(Y/N): Okay, deep breaths, you can do this. How hard could it be to throw a punch?
After moments of hyping yourself up you gained enough courage to check out the commotion. There, in a puddle, was a whimpering girl. She was about 5'9, shivering on the floor, ears flattened. You noticed her crimson red eyes and wolf ears, a hellhound.

(Y/N): Holy shit are you okay?!
You rush across the kitchen and into the heating cupboard, brandishing a clean, warm towel. Trudging back over to the girl you wrap it around her shoulders.
After convincing the girl to talk to you, you found out her name was Luci, and she was tossed out by her owners months ago. Apparently, due to her being a hellhound and the raging storm outside she decided to break into your mansion as the rain brought her insurmountable agony.
You were now sat in front of the fireplace, the fire illuminating the room in an orange haze. You enveloped the now whimpering girl in a hug, to which she pushed herself up against your body, basking in your warmth and embrace.
Luci: I-I have n-no where t-to go, I-I'm a-all a-alone and i h-hate it!
Tears were streaming down her face, dampening her fur.
(Y/N): Shhhh, it's okay, I'll make sure you'll never be alone again. If you'd like to, you can stay here with me.
Her ears rose, showing her improved mood. The girl spun around and enveloped you into a hug, crying into the crook of you neck.
Luci: thankyouthankyouthankyou sososo much! I promise you won't regret it.
-
Your meal was interrupted by the buzzing of your phone, glancing at the screen you saw the name 'Mrs Smith', the agent who worked with you to legally adopt Luci.
~~~~~~~
You hung up the phone and turned around to be met with a curious Luci.
Luci: (Y/N), who was that?
You sighed.
(Y/N): It looks like we'll be having guests.
Shadows in the Dawn Mist
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] - Winner November 2020 When a young woman is lured back to her homeland for the opportunity of a life time, she must face old fears. But never would she think that facing up to her past would change everything. Is History written by the victors, or by someone or something else...? *** I started writing this a few years ago and eventually fell out of love with it. I never finished it and my newer books are being written in different writing style, and genre with a more planned process. I decided to revisit it for the writathon and found that it wasn't as hopeless as I'd come to think. Hopefully, I've improved as a writer since them so the consistency may vary. Its been good to revisit and analyse my writing which I feel used to have some clunky and obvious dialogue which I'm trying to fix. This will always be my first novel and I hope, with a little exposure, I may come to like it again. Thanks for reading!
