《Enemies》The trip

Clay had gotten the window seat on the bus leaving George with the aisle. The trip was going to be quite long and annoying but knowing they'd be far away from this shit city is all they needed to keep them going. It was about 3 pm by the time they'd officially gotten on the bus, soon into the ride George had gotten sleepy and rested his head on Clays shoulder
"Goodnight love~" Clay cooed into Georges ear. Clay watched as George sunk deeper into his shoulder indicating George had fallen asleep. Clay looked out the window as he saw the city start to dim out into trees and grass filled fields
Were going to be okay...I know we will
The fresh air filled Clays lungs as he pulled down the window letting a much needed breeze in. He was finally able to fully enjoy the air for the first time in awhile. The ride was quite peaceful from the sight of trees and flowers and fresh grass filling the view of Clays eyes
Clay finally felt relaxed and sort of safe. He was with George and getting away from the horrid place they almost died in. His mind was filling with thoughts that they might just do okay...thoughts of things he wants to do with George once they get settled into there new life
I wonder if he's ever gone ice skating...I think he would love to do that...wait what if we built a tree house in our backyard, my god that'd be so cute...like a little cuddle house. What if we got a dog! It could be our literal child...my god I used to- to hate him...but why? It wasn't really hate though was it...it was love...? Took a damn long time to find out didn't it...

Many thoughts filled Clays mind as George got his much needed sleep
"Please what happened to him!! He's been missing for...like 2 weeks!! I can't even keep track at this point...WHERE IS MY BOY!!!" Georges mom yelled at the cop at her front door after being called. "He committed murder along with his friend Clay...they both killed Clays mother and were sent to prison. I don't have much detail from there" The cop said as he watched the life drain in Georges moms eyes. "No no no no no...my son would- MY SON WOULD NEVER DO THAT!!" She yelled as the tears she was so desperately trying to hold out drained from her eyes. "Ma'am I'm sorry" The cop said trying to calm her down. "I DIDN'T EVEN GET TO SAY BYE TO HIM!! OR I LOVE YOU! I JUST WANT TO TALK TO MY BOY!!" She yelled as her legs collapsed beneath her sending her to her knees. The cop kneeled down as he rubbed her back letting her know everything would be okay...
Soon the cop left the house as Georges mom ran into her room and screamed into her pillow. She was heartbroken, she couldn't believe the cop when he said her own son killed someone. She knew George...he would never do anything like that. She knew it had to be a mistake, George would NEVER kill anybody, even if it was him or them. He cared about others more then he cared about himself
"I hope you fucking die George, your so worthless and stupid...you know that right?? Your to much of a goddamn pussy to even attempt to come back at me. You've always been that way" Clay laughed as he watched George tremble against the lockers. "I-I'm sorry...whatever I did I'm sorry...what can I do to fix this..." George so desperately tried to fix things. "See that's what's wrong with you George! You don't give two shits about yourself, you would literally harm yourself if that would make someone happy...and you know what would make me happy George? If you would harm yourself...mmm that'd make me so happy" Clay said pushing George closer to the lockers. "O-Okay..." George said just wanting to make Clay happy even if it hurt him

"Hey George...?" Clay said nudging Georges shoulder. "hm..." George mumbled shifting himself closer to Clays body. "Hey were at a rest stop, come get out with me so we can go to the bathroom" Clay said slowly lifting George off his shoulder. "M-Mk..." George muttered. Clay slowly picked him up and pulled him out of the bus. "Shit" George said as the cold air lashed him. "Wait is that- snow?!?" George said running over to the white filled ground. Clay chuckled as he watched George run around in the snow. "George come on we have to hurry!" Clay yelled watching Georges 8 year old self take over his body. "Ughh fine..." George said annoyed heading back over to Clay. "George there's even more snow where we are going" Clay said chuckling. George smiled back as he jumped in the air out of pure excitement. George had never seen the snow before, it was beautiful to him. The two of them went to the bathroom and soon went back to the bus once again
They started getting closer and closer as they felt the bus stop. They had arrived at there location...Edmond Oklahoma
"Welcome to Edmond Oklahoma! I hope you enjoy your stay here, and have a nice day!" The driver spoke as everyone got off the bus. "Clay!!" George yelled as this time it was Clay sleeping. Clay jerked awake as he saw everyone getting off the bus. They had finally arrived to there new home. The two stepped outside the bus as they stopped in there tracks as they took in the world around them. There was only about a inch of snow at the rest stop, with most of the ground being grass...but here, the snow was at least a foot high and even higher in other spots. All George wanted to do was go diving into the snow but he knew if he was already cold enough standing then he shouldn't throw his whole body under the snow
Now only one thing was on there mind...where were they going to stay?

Of Gods and Dungeons
March 16, 2021 - Hiatus note: I will come back to this story! I'm really struggling with it, though. It's been a number of years and I kind of forgot what the original outline was. I still remember the main path, but not any of the details, because I stupidly didn't write an outline. Progress is being made. I'd like a very decent sized buffer before I start posting again. Don't want to get hopes up only to immediately disappoint! ----- Amy Barnes, an aspiring chemical researcher, finds herself dying from cancer. One of her most desperate prayers is answered in a way that she'd never dreamed possible, and she finds herself living a new life as a dungeon. Warning: Violence, morbidity Cover: Taken from here, courtesy of www.pexels.com by photographer @tookapic. Author's Note: I've read some dungeon core stories on here, and they've tickled my fancy. I've thought up a whole story, start to finish, and thought it'd be a blast to put it into words. Other than the violent and morbid aspects, this story is suitable for children. Aside from the vocabulary, that is. I will avoid the temptation to have any cursing, sexuality, or gore. Excessive gore, I suppose - it is a dungeon story, after all. I’ll do a little research from time to time, but this story will not have a great deal of rigor. I’ve made Amy’s knowledge comparable to my own for that reason. There’s a few things she knows more about than I do, and a few things that she knows less about. Unlike me, she doesn’t have access to Google - it’s a non issue for her to be more knowledgeable than me, on occasion :P This story does not use the same magic system that I’ve used in either Sorcery in Boston or A Summoner’s Confession. This one is mostly intention based, and designed to be easier access for people who are more used to the idea of, “It’s magic, therefore it works” kind of thinking. Do note that Amy is, in most senses of the term, overpowered. This goes along with the usual dungeon core stories. She’s not more powerful than other dungeons per se, but she does have knowledge and intelligence that puts them to shame. I thought about doing this in a LitRPG style, but systems take balance, and I wanted this to be pure fun to write. This story was inspired from a few sources. Despite the title, it wasn’t really inspired by Of Mice and Men, though some of the themes match. Rather, I’ve taken inspiration from a few dungeon core novels on Royal Road Legends for the main idea. Many conventions of dungeon core stories have been perverted from the genre, however. I’ve taken my usual science-loving self to town to play around with the powers, and I can only hope you have half as much fun reading this as I have had writing it.

Gray's Crucible
“The value you have brought to trade is immense, more than a thousand fold what any other traveler to Crucible has ever produced. More than even I produced during my journey.” The old man paused for a moment here, seemingly reluctant to continue. After a few seconds he begins again with weariness creeping into his voice. “As the Messenger of Crucible I have received the value of your life. You shall be awarded a body with potential equaling the value you have brought to this place in accordance with the laws of the higher realms. Now you shall depart for Crucible, but first; I, Jaze, will give you some advice.” The old man, Jaze, he had named himself paused a time. Time enough that Gray began to wonder if he was still present, when he suddenly continued in a low and serious tone, “You will undoubtedly have great potential Gray of Earth, but it is still only potential. What could be is not necessarily what will be. If you step foolishly in my world, if you can not live up to the potential you have bartered for, Crucible will crush you mercilessly and tear away your very soul.” A thought, cheerful and light was heard from Gray before his presence was sent rocketing away like a shooting star. “I’m looking forward to it.”
