The first buzz of the phone hadn't woken Toni up. She had kept in her deep slumber, comfortable under the warm duvet. However when more buzz's came through, vibrating loudly on the glass top of the bedside table there was a mumbled grunt that fell.

"jesus do people not know you sleep... Can you turn it off" Veronica let out a small whine as her arm slipped over Toni's smaller body.

"sorry" Toni chuckled, her husky voice raspy from just waking up. She sloppily reached out for her phone and grabbed it, lifting it up and turning on the screen. Her eyes squinted from the bright screen as she tried to work out what it said. Finally her eyes adjusted to the light and fell on the messages "it's cheryl"

"she's she doing texting at this hour" Veronica asked, her voice mumbly and half asleep. Toni started to read the messages and she bites her bottom lip a little, thoughts taking her mind.

"she says she needs me and asked if I can go over" Toni placed the phone back down and turned over to face Veronica who's brows were a little creased.

"you know what this is right, she's done this a few times now Toni.." Veronica spoke softly, she had seen this scene play over and over again.

"I know I know but I gotta go just in case..." Toni said sympathetically.

"I know you do, just don't stay out too late or I will miss you" the Raven haired woman spoke playfully, laying back on the bed. As Toni sat up she heard Amelia calling out.

"ah shit I gotta go help-"

"I've got Amelia, don't worry about her, you go check on Cheryl" Veronica sat up too as she did.

"thank you so much you're a life saver" Toni leant over and pressed a light kiss on her forehead.

"it's nothing I'm not capable of, I do it many nights now anyway" Veronica placed one finger under Toni's chin "now give me a proper kiss before you go" Toni rolled her eyes with a smile and leant in to kiss her lips gently before pulling back and going to get dressed.

"I won't be long, I will check in with Cheryl, make sure she's OK then return home" Toni went to the bedroom door.

"alright, and with Amelia her favourite song to have is 'I have a life that's good' and if in doubt let her come to our bed?" Veronica double checked.

"you got it" Toni grinned and walked out, heading out the apartment to get on her motorbike.

She had got to Cheryl's, well their old house and pulled up outside, darting to the door. She knocked heavily on the door and waited. It didn't take long till it opened, revealing Cheryl there.

"you came for me" she spoke in a chirpy voice as she grabbed my hand and pulled me inside.

"of course I came, what exactly was the massive emergency that you needed me here for at 1.30 in the morning?" Toni asked, she knew the answer to her question before Cheryl spoke it but she hoped this time it would be different.

"I said I need you and that's it" she rested her arms on Tonis shoulders and tugged her in closer with a small smirk but Toni slipped under the arms and out of reach.

"you know I can't Cheryl, we have this conversation everytime" Toni turned her head to eye cheryl.

"and each time you still come for me" she tapped Tonis nose playfully and placed her finger under Tonis chin.

"because I don't want to not come and you actually be in trouble, I care about you Cheryl, I come over as many times as I can inbetween work and spending time with the family. I make sure you see the kids each week, make sure you get to the therapists, make sure you get any meds you need, I keep the house in order, fix anything that's broken..i look after you and I'm scared when I get your midnight messages that this time somethings actually gone wrong cause I dont ever want you hurt" Toni just gazed at the red head, her eyes softening and then landing on the ground.

"I know, and I appreciate all you do for me. But I want more of us" she forced Toni to look up at Cheryl.

"I miss kissing and loving you" she huffed.

"but you know I'm withe Ronnie now, I'm sorry but I can't do that to her" Toni shook her head and took a step back away.

"she doesn't know you're here, she wouldn't know"

"she knows I'm here, she always knows. And it's not fair, you want me to do exactly what you accused me of doing when we were together, I never did but you got upset thinking I did. So how is it any better if I do it with you now?" Toni asked, more seriousness in her voice. Cheryl was quiet for a moment and then brought her hands up to her face.

" oh god I'm sorry, I'm such an idiot Toni. I shouldn't of suggested anything I'm sorry I'm just out of it and in a low mood" Toni was quick to wrap her arms around Cheryl and hold her tightly in her arms, gently rubbing her back.

"Its ok, I know you didn't mean it, we all say things we don't mean. But I'm here if you need to talk OK?" Toni spoke gently again, not wanting to push Cheryl away, she still cares so much for her. She knew she was having her ups and downs.

"can you stay for the night?" Cheryl asked quietly, Toni was unsure but did eventually text Veronica to say she was staying.

"yeah come on, but let's get to bed" Toni nodded to the bedroom and they both head inside. They laid down together and Cheryl rested her head on Tonis chest.

'OK babe, rest easy, amelia went back to sleep easily. Miss you x' Toni read the reply before putting her phone to the side and focusing on Cheryl, running her fingers through her hair lightly.

"you two are made for each other you know" Cheryl whispered, her eyes looking up at Toni. "I'm reslly happy for you both"

"thank you Cheryl, I want you to be happy too. I'm gonna help you find it.. I may have some people that might just be a great match for you" Toni gave her a playful squeeze and Cheryl giggled.

"I'm intruiged, you might be quite the little match maker miss topaz" Cheryl grinned and closed her eyes snuggling into Toni.

"I will tell you more tomorrow, for now sleep well beautiful"
