《Our Ancient Love》Chapter 12: The Secrets

I wake up and quickly sit up in my bed. I look at my surroundings to see if I was in my bedroom rather than the royal bedroom I was in in my dream. I yawn and rub my eyes. I look over at my alarm clock. It's almost 6:30! I immediately jump out of my bed and run into the bathroom to brush my teeth and take a shower.

About 20 minutes later I run into my bedroom soaking wet with nothing but a towel on. I scurry to my closet to find my uniform but it isn't there.

"Where the heck are my work clothes," I growl in frustration.

I look down and see Sandy laying in the middle of my bedroom floor and underneath her is my uniform.

I roll my eyes and push her heavy body off of my clothes. She stands up, shakes, and leaves my room.

"Wow thanks," I say sarcastically.

I dry myself off and put on my clothes. After that, I put on my socks and shoes and grab my phone and my keys as I head out of my room.

I run downstairs and into the kitchen and grab a bagel.

"I'll just have to eat it plain," I say as I hold it with my teeth.

I run over to the door and walk out.

"Bye," I mumble before shutting the door.

I sprint into my car and zoom off.

*time passes*

I walk into the museum and everyone had already came to life. I stuff the rest of my bagel into my mouth and I put my phone and my keys into my pocket.

"Ah, Y/N. There you are," Larry says.

"Sorry. I accidentally overslept," I say with my mouth full.

"They came to life about 5 minutes ago so you're good."

Loud noises and crashes fill the air and I instantly know that the cavemen were most likely breaking things.

"Hey! Don't touch that!" Larry says as he runs over to the commotion.

I look over to my right and see Teddy talking to Ahk. What they were talking about was probably serious because they seemed pretty deep into the conversation.

I scurry over to a hiding place before they can see me so that I can eavesdrop.

"My boy, you have to tell her," I hear Teddy say.

"I really want to, but I don't know how she'll react," Ahk says.

"You have to tell her soon. What if she's already starting to remember?"

Remember what? I stop eavesdropping when I hear more crashes. Larry was probably unsuccessful trying to stop the cavemen.

I slowly stand up and look over to Teddy and Ahk to make sure that they don't see me. Once I'm in the clear, I run over to help Larry.

It turns out that the cavemen were throwing around random objects and it was hitting displays, breaking the glass.

"What do you think Dr. McPhee will say about this," I say as I look at the damage that was already done.

"He'll flip out, but he won't fire me because I've been working here for too long," Larry says as he tries to pick up some of the artifacts that were in the display. "You go on and see what's happening with everyone else while I figure out what to do with this."

I nod and walk back to my hiding place, but while I'm doing so, Teddy and Ahk turn to look at me.

"Hello. I'm just trying to find something back here," I lie.

"Before you find whatever you're looking for, Ahkmenrah needs to tell you something," Teddy says patting him on the back.

I look into Ahk's eyes and I could tell that he was really nervous. Oh boy. This must be REALLY serious.

Me and Ahk don't even say anything to each other, but we knew what the other was thinking. So we both started walking in the direction of his tomb. The walk was really nerve-racking and awkward. I guess Ahk was too nervous to say anything.

Once we make it to his tomb, I break the silence so that he doesn't have to.

"So what's going on? What do you need to tell me?" I ask.

"Before I start, I don't want you to think or feel any different about me," he says looking up at me.

What? So you're telling me that what he's about to tell could possibly affect how I think or feel about him? I suddenly feel nauseous.

"Just tell me to get it over with,"I say as I hold my stomach. He crosses his arms and begins.

"3,000 years ago there once was a young, beautiful girl. She had caught my eye when one day she walked past my palace. It was love at first sight. She actually lived near my palace and would walk past every day to go to the market. I was going to be crowned king in a few weeks and I needed someone to rule by my side. With my efforts and patience, the girl fell in love with me within a few days prior to my coronation. Since our time was limited, the wedding was held a day before my crowning. The next day I was crowned as King Ahkmenrah, fourth king of the fourth kings and my new wife was crowned as the queen of Egypt, fourth queen of the fourth queens."

Ahk stops to hold my hands and look me deeply in my eyes.

"My love," he says. "You are my queen."
