《Our Ancient Love》Chapter 37: In the Dressing Room

It seemed like everyone was running around with their heads chopped off. One minute the makeup artist would be next to me, and the next she's across the room. I've barely been able to say two words to Joana because she keeps leaving the dressing room. Of course I haven't been able to see Ahk since this morning, and he can't see me until I walk down the aisle because it's bad luck for a groom to see his bride before the wedding ceremony.
I sit with my legs crossed in a silk, golden robe that my mom bought me. I look around at all of my bridesmaids. They all looked so happy and absolutely beautiful. I start to smile. Surprisingly I wasn't all that nervous as I was super early this morning.
Suddenly I hear the door squeak open and it was Joana rushing in. I immediately stand up to walk over to her.
"Joana why are you in such a rush? The wedding doesn't start until an hour and ten minutes from now," I say.
"I know I know. I'm just trying to get everything ready so that everything can go perfect on your big day," she says out of breath.
"You're my bridesmaid, not my wedding planner. I don't want you to worry about anything. You're even more stressed than I am and I'M the one getting married."
She closes her eyes and lightly chuckles.
"Miss Joana. You're up next," says the makeup artist.
Joana gives me a side hug before jogging over to the makeup artist. The makeup artists lets Joana sit in the chair before swiveling the chair around so that I can't see Joana's face. I sit back down. I look around the room as I start biting my nails. My mom comes out of nowhere and slaps my fingers away from my mouth.

"Ow!" I shriek.
"You just got your nails done this morning. Don't mess them up," my mom says as she starts examining my nails, checking to see if I messed any of them up. "Good. They're still perfect."
I roll my eyes and continue to look around the room until I hear another squeak coming from the door. This time, it was Marissa, and she was carrying the bag that had my dress.
I rush to stand up. She looks at me and smiles before walking over to me.
"So...how does it look?" I slowly say.
"I don't know. You tell me," she says. I try to unzip the bag before she says something else. "AFTER you try it on."
I groan. I wasn't going to put on my dress until after I got my hair and makeup done.
"Can you please take this and hide it from her," Marissa asks my mom as she hands her the bag.
"Of course I will," my mom says. She takes the bag by both hands and walks over to the door. She struggles to turn the knob until she eventually opens the door and walks out. I back down and sigh. I guess I'm going to be sitting here for awhile.
*times passes*
It was about 20 minutes till the wedding was due to start. Every bridesmaid had gotten their hair and makeup done, including my mom. I, of course, was dead last.
I close my eyes as the makeup artist lightly brushes the golden eyeshadow across my eyelids. Then she moves on and does my eyeliner. Then she adds on some fake lashes which felt like bugs were stuck to my eyelids. Afterwards, she does my eyebrows. The hairdresser was doing my hair at the same time that I was getting my makeup done. It was difficult to keep my head straight while the hairdresser was pulling my hair every 10 seconds.

The makeup artist then moves onto my blush and then onto my lipstick. She finishes off my lipstick by adding a glittery lipgloss to my lips. She takes a spray and sprays my face with some sort of thing that prevents my makeup from bleeding when I sweat, cry, or even if it rains.
The makeup artist goes over to her bag to put all of her things away which allows for the hairdresser to have all access. I thought that she still had a lot to do, but she was surprisingly almost finished. She curled up a few strands of my hair and temporarily pinned them up using a silver clip. My hair would be worn down for the wedding.
I sit back down as the makeup artist and the hairdresser put their things away. The hairdresser purposely leaves out a can to use on my hair later. I hear a squeak coming from the door and my mom walks in with the bag that my dress was in. She hangs it up on a hook.
She orders for all of the bridesmaids to leave the room and to line up in the hallway since the wedding would be starting soon. She grabs both of my hands and looks me deeply in my eyes.
"I won't be able to see you until you walk down the aisle because I want to be just as surprised as everyone else when I see you in your dress. But I just want you to know that I am so very proud of you and I couldn't be happier," my mom says.
I smile as I start tearing up. I softly pat my eye to dab my tear away. I hug my mom the longest I could imagine. Soon after, she pulls away and waves goodbye and blows a kiss at me. I wave back as she shuts the door.
I turn back to the hairdresser and the makeup artist.
"You ready?" the hairdresser asks as she grabs the bag with my dress.
"Yep," I sigh.

Cursing has been censored with astericks but it does have mature content (nothing sexual though).
