Receptionist: Kindly hold on. Let me take a look at the schedule.

🦉Jihye:: *Take a deep breath*.

This is the first time I'm here at L Inc. It is one of the most well-known webtoon company in South Korea. I began creating webtoon as a freelance artist, putting out free comics once every two weeks. Out of my expectation, my artwork began to attract more readers over the past six months. Two weeks ago, over an email, I am invited by the publishing team to discuss publishing a new webtoon as a featured artist. Today, I need to present my new webtoon concept with the publisher on the potential of getting it featured and published.

Receptionist: Yes. You have a meeting with Song TeamJang-nim. Let me bring you to the meeting room. This way, please.

I followed the receptionist, entered the department. It was a huge space filled with probably thirty office cubicles. The walls are hung with the posters of the current popular webtoon and anime characters. I was distracted and mesmerized with the atmosphere, imagining myself to be part of a full-time staff here, working with confidence ... then I realized, I almost lost track of the receptionist! I quickly walk and try to catch up with her to the meeting room.

Receptionist: Please wait here while I get Song TeamJang-nim.

🦉Jihye:. Ne~. 부탁드립니다 (Please take care of me)..

I am waiting anxiously in the meeting room. I had been preparing hard for this new idea. Through the last discussion over the phone call. Song TeamJang-nim seems to be quite receptive to the idea and was really curious to see the concept in drawings. So I had completed two chapters of the story along with the rest of the storyline draft, as well as some potential ideas to be added, hoping he will like it.

"Eh hem..." A man of forties stepped into the meeting room. I quickly stood up, and greeted him with a bow, and put out my hand for a handshake. "Annyeonghaseyo, Song TeamJang-nim. My name is Kim Jihye. Thank you for inviting me to the concept discussion.

However, he ignored my greeting, and just sat down. In that split second, my hand was frozen in the still air, not knowing how should I react in the awkward atmosphere. I quickly recollected my composure, I gave a smile and calmly retreated my hand and sat down.

"Song TeamJang is not feeling well today. I'm here to replace him for this meeting. You can address me as Jang Teamjang. I'm busy, be quick to share."

🦉Jihye: Ne. If so, I will keep it short. Let me begin...

I spent a quick ten minutes explaining the concept of the new webtoon idea. Jang Teamjang was listening, but his occasional yawns make me slightly uncomfortable. So I tried to present with more visuals to try to catch his attention.

[Jang Teamjang]: No. This concept is not going to work.

🦉Jihye: I'm sorry. May I know which aspect is not satisfying? Is it the storyline? What should I do to improve? I would really appreciate your advice.

[Jang Teamjang]: There is already plenty of High School mystery and thrillers genre around. What makes you stand out from others? The only difference is your main characters are two females. How is that interesting when there is no love-line in the story?

🦉Jihye: Maybe it was only the first two chapters presented that looks like a typical high school mystery thriller. But the focus of the storyline is to reflect on our society and educational standard, so I chose not to have a love-line. Instead, I wanted to present with two female roles to emphasize the empowerment of females. I understand a love-line might attract more attention, I will certainly take into consideration when writing the next few chapters.

I suppress my annoyance and completed my statement and end with a smile.

[Jang Teamjang]: So this webtoon is about the feminazi. How about this? Since you want to empower the females, I suggest for the love-line to be formed between the female characters. Lesbian love. That would definitely be an eye-baller! The drawing style now is so boring. Draw them to be sexier, curvier and the facial features to be more exaggerated. With the drawing style changed, it will not just receive support from the feminazis, it will also attract male readers.

I am holding my boiling fury while listening to this man blabbing with nonsense about my hard work. But I need to hold on to my professionalism.

🦉Jihye: Jang Teamjang-nim. I'm so sorry that my concept does not meet your expectations. May I suggest that I could make the necessary changes and present it again to Song TeamJang-nim when he is back to work. If you excuse me, I shall take my leave. Annyeonghigeseyo.

I quickly sweep up my presentation materials and put them into my file and stepped out of the meeting room, gave a forty-five-degree bow before I left.

I let go of a loud wail, standing on the sidewalk of Yeongdong bridge.

It's the year 2013. But our ROK (Republic of Korea) society is still stuck in the 70s with all the gender inequality and discrimination. That ahjussi's discriminatory on females just left me disgusted!

I really have no confidence in working culture filled with such disgust after I graduated. And, I am so disappointed with myself for not standing up for my belief.

Finally back to my room. I have moved to a cheaper place since last week, I took over a college senior's room as she moved to a new location. This homestay is at yeoksam-dong, a developing suburban area near Gangnam, the monthly rent is twenty percent cheaper, though the distance to school is further. I just have to take a 20 minutes bus to my university every day,

It's a goshiwon (one-room accommodation) with a small window. Although dad has been helping me with my school fees, I have decided to stop taking money for the dormitory next month onwards. I will work part-time to afford my own accommodation and allowance. I thought I would have an easier life if I managed to sign a contract for the publishing of my webtoon. However, it seems like not the case anymore.

I kept the room lights off. My only source of light is from the laptop. It's 10:05 pm, I tune in to KBS Cool FM, the sound of advertisement was playing. Very soon later, a welcoming introduction from MC Ryeowook. The guests tonight are SUGA and Rap Monster again. I have been tuning in to listen to them for the past few times. Listening to them makes my heart so much calmer, especially tonight. SUGA's voice is so soothing yet energetic, sharing about themselves.

The Bangtan Boys (BTS) had a really full schedule for all the fan sign events throughout the city. I could only attend one fan sign event as I was busy with school and preparing the content for the webtoon presentation.

I attended the fansign on 20 July, at Shinsegae Department Store, Incheon. SUGA was the only person wearing white out of the group of boys in black. He was really cheerful during the fansign interaction, asking for my name and ask about me. Within that one and a half minutes, we had a short conversation and we did a high-five. I also managed to pass him a letter I wrote to him.

I'm not sure when will I be able to meet them again with my own tight schedule to come.

Back in the dormitory. Jimin is distributing everyone's fan letters and gifts collected from the past few fan signs event. Every member has a pile of their own fan letters, the two highest pile belongs to Jungkook's and SUGA's.

🐥Jimin: As expected, our golden maknae to receive the most number of love from fans!

Jimin rubbing JK's head playfully then passed him the pile of letters. Jungkook receives it with a big smile.

🐰Jungkook: Hyung~. You also received many. I think SUGA hyung is more amazing! He also received a lot of fan letters and more gifts than everyone.

🐥Jimin: SUGA hyung is really no joke! He is so different on stage, his MC skills are awesome!

🐨 Namjoon: SUGA hyung is really a good MC! So many times he managed to pass the ball to other members so naturally. He also did so well in the radio show, he's a . I am not even at half of his level.

🐰Jungkook: I was so grateful for SUGA hyung. At first, I really do not know should I respond. I was really overwhelmed by the exciting fans. But with his leading, I felt so much more comfortable with interacting with them.

🐻Taehyung: Wahh, how does SUGA hyung be so natural as an MC? He is so quiet when he is in the dorm though. Where is he now?

🐨 Namjoon: SUGA hyung is with Hobi in the studio. Hobi wanted to ask about mixing some beats for his sample.

🐥Jimin: Okay, let me take their fan letters to them.

🐥Jimin: It's me, today's letter deliverer.

Jimin entered the room.

🐥Jimin: Hyung-nim, here are the letters from the fan signs.

Jimin passed the letters with two hands, bowed forty-five degrees with a cheeky smile to Hoseok and Yoongi.

Yoongi took over the pile of his fan letter and went to the couch behind, sat down and open them to read while continuing to listen to Hoseok working on his sample track.

One letter after another ... now a letter from a red and white cover.

"Annyeong SUGA-ssi.

My name is Jihye. I am the same age as you, 20 years old. Can I write in ban-mal(Informal) as a friend in future letters?

I've just listened to Born Singer yesterday. I was really touched by the lyrics you guys wrote. I love the line "I can handle it cause you're supporting me". That was how I felt every time when I listen to the BTS songs. I got my elder sister an album too! My favorite song is No More Dream, and hers is Gil(Pathroad).

I remembered when I first discovered about the group during the Typical Trainee Christmas, the MV was really cute and so relevant to me as well. All the members are so talented and lovable. But what makes you stand out the most to me. Though I'm not an expert in hip-hop or music production, I can truly feel your passion and hard work.

It resonates the same to me for love for art. My dream is to let everyone who reads my webtoons to be inspired. I'm going to meet a webtoon publisher soon to discuss a potential project. Wish me good luck!

Hoseok turns his head and looks at Yoongi. Yoongi did not answer. His eyes were fixated at reading that fan letter.

Hoseok went up to him and call his name again. Yoongi remains unmoved. He then slightly tap Yoongi shoulder, and finally, Yoongi is back to consciousness to the studio.

🐱Yoongi: Huh? What were you saying?

🐴Hoseok: Hyung, are you alright?

🐱Yoongi: I'm fine. I am just ... tired. Let's look at your sample.

🐱Yoongi quickly folds that fan letter into half and slip it into his sweater pocket.
