"Guys, it's been a while since we've done anything fun as a group!" Clay announced this one night at dinner, trying to get a reaction from the group, Clay was bored, like he usually was these days.
"What do you mean? We do fun stuff together all the time," George shot back, pushing his food around his plate, he had a bad habit of snacking all day, so when it was dinnertime, he wasn't hungry.
"Yeah, okay, on stream, but we've all streamed this week, no one else has any big plans, let's do something fun tonight," Quinn eyed Clay suspiciously.
"And what did you have in mind, green boy?" Quinn was up for a little fun, she had to agree with Clay, it had been too long.
"Okay, first off, green boy? Get it, I guess, secondly, I dunno, I was just seeing if that something you guys would be interested in doing." He shrugged, waiting for someone else to come up with an idea.
"Okay, so what if we played jackbox? Like the four of us?" Nick suggested.
"We play jackbox all the time," George whined, "nothing that we do on stream."
"We could," Quinn knew the boys would agree, "Drink a little bit and then play jackbox? You guys are only funny when I'm tipsy."
Nick hit the back of her head softly, "We're funny!" He argued, "But I wouldn't oppose drinking a little bit, it's been a long week."
There was a specific rule in the house, whenever they drank, everyone had to put their phones on the counter plugged in, and no one was allowed to touch them until they were completely sober the next morning. This rule was put into place after Clay drunk tweeted the words 'Goreg just fell aselep , why doeshe drink?' It was a little awkward to explain the next morning. So the rule was put in place to keep from any further casualties.
"We probably couldn't play jackbox, like because of the phone thing, but we could play something else?" Clay suggested, "maybe like a wii game?"
"Oh hell yeah," Nick shouted, "I could kick your ass in Mario Kart.
"That could be fun," Quinn nodded at him, "I'm gonna go shower and put comfy clothes on then," she stood from the dinner table, throwing her plate into the garbage, and making her way back to her room.
Quinn's room was always colder than the other rooms in the house, except for Clay's. It was a little smaller, so when the AC was blasting, Quinn always used more blankets, but now she was kind of used to the chilly atmosphere, still she gathered her shower stuff and a hoodie, because it would keep her comfortable.
When she turned the shower on, the warm water began to warm up the whole bathroom. Quinn shuddered in a comfortable way. She let the room around her slowly warm her body. She sighed out a deep breath, tonight was going to be a good night. She decided to skip out on the drinking.
Quinn didn't want to accidentally tell Clay about her feelings. That would probably kill her. This way nothing weird was going to happen, it was gonna be okay.
Quinn showered quickly and got ready for a fun night of staying in with her boys. When she headed back to the kitchen she was met with the boys all ready to get started.
"So what're we playing? Mario Kart?" Quinn approached the table where Nick and George were sitting and silently talking.

"Hey Quinn," Clay came up next to her, "Can I talk to you for a second? Like before we play any of the games?"
There was something about his tone that made Quinn's heart stop beating. When she looked at him, there was nothing that she could see behind his eyes and that made her incredibly nervous. Still she nodded him, and followed him into his room. Quinn had no idea what was happening.
"Hey, hey, are you okay?" Clay saw the concern written on her face.
"You look nervous, you're freaking me out." Quinn laughed at her own joke, which seemed to relax her.
"Oh my god, I'm sorry I'm fine," Clay admitted sheepishly, he rubbed the back of his neck, "I just wanted to ask you why we didn't stream the other night? Did we plan on streaming, I forget, I woke up the next morning as if nothing happened, I was just hoping you could tell me what happened."
Quinn's heart skipped a beat at the memory of falling asleep on his shoulder, "Oh! Well I fell asleep, and then you fell asleep, and then I woke up."
"Why didn't you wake me up?"
"I... Well, I knew I was too tired to stream and it looked like you needed the sleep as well," Quinn explained, with false confidence.
"You left," He sounded, hurt? Quinn couldn't place it exactly.
"I thought it would be weird, if we woke up, like next to each other," All of the sudden, she was so nervous. It was like all the words that she knew left her head, and they were replaced with tiny butterflies who spoke in nonsense.
"What? Quinn we've fallen asleep on each other before-" Clay started.
"Yeah, with George and Nick there," Quinn cut him off, "It's a little different when it's just me and you."
At her words, Clay's eyes widened, like he realized what she was trying to say. His expression softened, and a smile formed on his lips. Quinn bit her tongue to avoid matching his smile.
"Why?" He questioned, taking a small step closer to her. Quinn was sure that this was a dream and that she would wake up any moment now. This couldn't be happening.
"Clay..." Quinn knew if she kept speaking, she would tell him everything.
"Quinn..." He dropped his voice down and it went straight to Quinn's stomach. She took in a shallow breath.
"Have you had anything to drink," She needed confirmation, he couldn't be drunk if they were going to have this talk.
"I didn't have the chance to," He nodded and then he turned a little cocky, "Tell me what's on your mind."
"You are," Quinn admitted, swallowing hard, "It's always you."
There was silence that filled the room.
Quinn scanned his face, looking for anything that could hint at what he was thinking. However, she got caught in his eyes. He was looking at her with hope, he wanted her. Desperately, he wanted this to go where he thought it was going.
"I'm so annoying that you can't get me out of your brain?" He joked.
"Clay, you know it's not that." Quinn made the decision, she wanted to explore this, she needed to know if she wasn't the only one.
"I know."
Stillness again.
This time, it was Quinn who moved towards Clay. She didn't know how to proceed, and was hoping that he would do something. Right now, it didn't matter that Nick and George were in the living room, probably drinking together and being dorky. It didn't matter because Clay was right here in front of her, looking at her as if she was the only girl in the world.

"Quinn?" All of the cockiness was dropped, his voice was smaller and quieter.
"Yeah?"
"Can I kiss you?"
Her heart stopped. All of the thoughts in her head turned to mush, she was empty inside. Slowly she nodded. And Clay didn't waste any time, he closed the distance between them sighing into the kiss warmly.
Quinn brought her hands to cup his face, and felt his hands on the small of her back. He was heat, warming her slowly with his touch. She felt herself sigh as he moved one of his hands to her waist. Quinn didn't want this to end. His tongue grew curious and it swiped against Quinn's bottom lip. It was at that moment that he seemed to realize what was happening, and he pulled back.
"We should talk about this." Now, Clay seemed, disheartened.
Quinn felt her heart shrink a little bit. Maybe it wasn't mutual, or maybe he thought it was and kissing her made him realize that he didn't actually have feelings for her. Either way, Quinn should've expected this.
"We should," She nodded, taking a step back from him, he noticed her tone, and how she seemed to close off with a small step.
"Hey, hey, hey," He grabbed her by the waist and pulled her into a hug, "Don't think about it too hard, I just think we should talk about us."
Quinn was glad that he couldn't see her face right now, she knew she was bright red at his use of the term "us." Was there an "us?" There couldn't be an "us."
Clay took Quinn's hand and pulled her down on the bed next to him.
"How do we go about this?" Quinn started thinking again, considering all of the different scenarios, "Do we go about this?" It slipped out before she could stop it.
"What do you mean?" Clay didn't let go of her hand, when she noticed this, she met his eyes again, and they were glowing with confusion, "Why shouldn't we?"
"I just... I don't know... I can't stop thinking about the fans. What're they gonna think? I mean most of them already assume we're together. What if we lose another part of our privacy to them? And if we didn't tell them, we probably would have to stream together less, which neither of us wants to do. Plus what about George and Nick? What're they gonna think?"
"Quinn," Clay could understand her concerns, to be fair these were some of his own, "I like you. I know it's scary, and this is a lot, but I haven't told you out loud and I need you to hear it."
Quinn nearly melted again, he always said the smoothest things, "I like you," She frowned at him, "I'm just nervous."
"Understandable, if you don't want to do this right now, we don't have to," Clay said, and Quinn couldn't tell what he was talking about, having this conversation, or them being together.
"No, I want to, we should, but I just can't ignore the fact that it's a bad idea right now," She took a deep breath.
"Now you have me nervous too," Clay grimaced, "Damn it. You're right."
"About what?" Quinn knew that this next part was gonna hurt.
"We could tell everyone, but then they know and they start thinking that they can control our relationship. We could tell no one, but then it's like we're living a lie, and people will find out about it anyways, we would just seem like bad people. Our jobs make this much harder than it should be." Clay couldn't look at her right now, "So what do we do?" He knew the answer, he just didn't want to be the one to say it.
"We don't," Quinn pulled her hand from his and used both hands to hide her face. This was absolutely crushing her. She pushed on her eyes, hoping that it would help get rid of the tears that she knew were about to form. She took a deep breath and looked at him, feeling a sense of reason overcome her, "We can't."
"Quinn, but I want to," Clay felt his own heart sink, now that it had been spoken into existence, he knew it was the only option. He had seen the way that fans had torn apart previous relationships, inserting themselves in the middle, and he didn't want that to happen to them. He couldn't lose Quinn, and he decided that if it meant not being together, then it was better than being strangers.
He had always liked her, there was just something about her that pulled him in. He knew who she was when they met, he watched her streams before the event, after accidentally stumbling over her twitch and getting addicted. He watched himself fall for her in his vods, when they would stay up much later than usual gaming together and talking. He remembered the rush of relief he felt when she accepted his offer to move in, knowing that she would be closer to him. And now, the girl he fell so hard for, was sitting in front of him, on the verge of tears. That just broke Clay's heart.
"Look at me," gently, he put his hand underneath her chin, aiming her gaze back at him, she wasn't crying, but she looked like she could, "I'm so sorry."
Quinn shook her head, "Don't be, I should've thought about this, all of this, before I did anything stupid," she recoiled again.
He hated when she shrank away from him, he just wanted to hold her, to pull her closer.
"When tomorrow comes around, let's not mention this, okay? It'll be easier to ignore if we never let this happen again," Quinn spoke the bitter truth. The heartbreak would faze, and it would be back to normal, as long as she didn't let herself around Clay alone anymore.
"Tomorrow?" Clay whispered, "So can we have tonight?"
He was hopeful.
"Clay, it's not a good idea," Quinn was trying her best not to give in.
"Fuck, good ideas, if I don't get you forever, can I have you tonight? Just having you here, would mean the world to me," He reached for her hand again, "Please?"
Quinn couldn't hide the fact that her heart beat for this man, and this man alone, the tips of her ears were turning red. "Only for tonight," She agreed.
He pulled her into his lap and hugged her. Quinn felt her sorrow melt away, only to have it be replaced by comfort. She could deal with everything else tomorrow. Tonight, he was hers, and hers alone.
"Okay so maybe we should set ground rules," Clay tried to lighten the mood, "So I don't try to keep you here forever. 8 am, you're out."
"8 am?" Quinn laughed, her tone was sarcastic, "Jesus, thanks for letting me sleep in."
"Okay okay okay, 10 am, deal?" Clay stuck his hand out for her to shake.
"Deal," she shook his hand and added, "Oh also I want to be able to do this," Quinn leaned across the little space that they had and met his lips with hers. He smiled into this kiss.
"I'm okay with that," he nodded, he looked like such a dork, and Quinn felt her heart skip a beat, "Can I do this?"
Clay craned his neck and placed a soft kiss on Quinn's neck, she took a shallow breath in.
"Yeah, seems good," She matched his dorky energy.
"Glad we're on the same page," He didn't want to admit how much he liked hearing her take in that breath, "movie?"
Quinn shook her head, "Now that we've set ground rules? No way."
Quinn made herself more comfortable on Clay's lap, straddling him slightly, she put her hands on his face again, "Can I put my hands here?"
He nodded and asked, "Where do you want my hands?"
Quinn grabbed both of his wrists and placed his hands on her waist, before leaning in to kiss him again. This time, the kiss wasn't soft or closed off, it was alive and beautiful. If tonight was all they had, she was going to get her money's worth.
Quinn ended up on her back, in his shirt, Clay resting on top of her. He was asleep. His arms were wrapped around her waist, and his head was tucked into the crook of Quinn's neck. She played with his soft hair, drifting away herself.
She stirred slightly when she thought she heard him say something, "mmm?"
"Beautiful," He murmured, digging his face even deeper into her skin, placing a soft kiss there, "you..."
Quinn knew this was gonna hurt like a bitch at 10:01.

Dear Spellbook (Rewrite)
Live. Study. Repeat. Tal never saw himself as an adventurer, but the call to adventure never much cared for his opinion. Despite his best efforts, his search for answers on the murder of his parents ever draws him into danger. Accompanied by a group of seasoned warriors, thus far Tal has gotten by on his own meager magical talents, but when one day he wakes up to find himself back in his bed of the night before, he is faced with a challenge he must conquer alone. What to expect: This story was born of an attempt to create in world lore reasons for many of the mechanics and tropes of D&D, but you do not need to know of them to enjoy the story. It's a single POV time loop story with slow paced progression fantasy elements. The story is not one of fast-paced power ups and non-stop action, but as it progresses, the action picks up. There is a lot of magic system exploration on a system built to unify the diverse magic of D&D into one cohesive magic system. The setting is an original world with familiar races and monsters but with new unique origins and motivations. The average chapter will be 2-5k words long, most being around 3k but there are a few less than 1k, due to the nature of the story telling device I used. Book 1 is complete. Posting is on hold until I finish book 2. Book 2 progress: The rough draft is done at 141656 words as of 7/9/2022. I need to reread and edit it but Im aiming for resuming chapters in September.
